A Memoriam Of Trees

This is part eight. I was busy travelling a lot lately. I am currently abroad for the work. I have some free time to continue. Sit a spell, light up if you please and enjoy.
April 13th 2009 Saint-Jovite Quebec, Canada
We were in for trouble.
The two keys were safely inside my jacket pocket. The stuff for the restoration to the tree memoriam was all packed within the buggy carriage.
The weather was not looking good. The sun had set and there was a fell wind in the evening air. We were halfway on the way back home when Kim had crashed.
' She is about to give birth! ' I shouted while getting down the buggy. 'Todd, quick! '
He helped me untie the poor horse from the carriage and guide her in the field beside the road. The three others were very nervous.
' They know what is happening to her. ' Understood Todd.
Kim crashed on her side. She was drained. Just then, a thunderbolt rent the sky, followed by a booming crash of thunder. We all jumped and then the three other horses panicked. Todd ran to hold them back.
' Go! ' I ordered. ' Go home and get them safely! I will stay behind and tend to Kim.'
Todd looked like he was about to argue back, but I gave him a stern look. He closed his mouth.
' We are in far too much trouble already! Just do what I say! And make sure the stuff is hidden well from the others back there! Tell Catherine I am here tending to Kim's foalbirth. And don't tell Patrick! I have a bad feeling about him. Got it?! ' ' I... fine! ' Todd stammered back. ' Be safe, Maxime! '
He went to me, and gave me a passionate kiss. Then he verified that the three other horses could handle the unbalanced buggy for the rest of the homeward bound. Satisfied yet nervous, he lit a cigarette, took the reins, and he was gone.
All alone in the middle of this field, I felt very vulnerable. The sky was not looking normal at all. Thunder and lightning kept going, becoming more and more violent and present. The wind was very strong. It looked uncanny to have a storm this early in the year.
' Kim, don't worry. I am here with you... '
My voice was suddenly drowned by the loudest crack of thunder so far. I looked up in the sky, and I blanched. No... not now. Not here...
' A supercell! ' I stammered. ' Fuck! '
The clouds were quickly swirling into a huge tornado supercell. It was forming quite fast now. This field was representing the best place for the monster to form up as no obstacles at all stood in the way. There was the mountain on the other side of the road, the closest one. But the tornado seemed to be forming itself right over the field, and it was moving towards Kim and me.
' We have to get outta here! '
Kim suddenly whinnied with pain. Her foalbirth had begun.
Five minutes later, the supercell was so threatening to look at that I just kept my face bent down on Kim's face. The wind had become a rush of ferocious nordets. It was cold, eerie and smelled like damp earth. The storm was now at its peak. The supercell was now right over Kim and me. It was huge, monstrous and frightening to no end. The lightning could make me see inside it.
' That's it... we will die... ' I murmured.
I hugged Kim tightly, prepared for a flight. The foal was almost completely out now. It was covered with the foalpaste. Kim was so feeble she was now barely whinning.
And then, the tornado touched the ground. I knew it, because it was rumbling under us. The wind became so strong I started to run out of air. I dared to look up and around.
The colonne had landed on the road, not on us. But it was a very narrow escape. It was now swirling with a deafening sound, deviating towards the mountain on the other side of the asphalt. It hit the electricity poles with such a power that countless flashes of bolt and fire exploded. It was a sickening sight.
Paralyzed with fear, I was just there, looking at the monstrous colonne. It was now farther away, and I caught my breathe with relief. The mountain was covered with trees, and when the twister hit the nearest ones, there came a blast of rumbling sound. It was deafening and flabberghasting. The trees began to fly and get caught in the swirling clouds. The light of the lightning was showing the debris all inside the tempest.
A tree ejected from the colonne, and it went straight as a javelin right towards us. I could not dodge it in time, and before I knew it, I was knocked out.
It was the singing of the birds which had awoken me.
' Ow! '
My head was bursting with a horrible headache. Dried blood was on my face. I sat up, and looked around.
Kim was grazing near me. She surprisingly looked in quite a good shape. It was morning. And a very good one. The weather was very comfy and it looked like springtime had come at last. The sunlight was very warm.
The tornado was gone. The sky was a forget me not blue. No cloud at all, not even any cumuluses. The twister had damaged the whole mountain. It had been rased completely of its trees. The debris of the wooden folk were all scattered here and there.
I took a look at the foal. It was walking, so it was a healthy one, thank goodness. And I almost fainted again.
Kim was all black. But her foal was a snowy white all over. It was not possible. But the most impossible thing I noticed... was that the foal had wings...
' P-p-Pegasus? ' I faltered.
But I fainted again. Too much emotions in only two days.
