============================================================================
The next morning I woke up sore and exhausted from my night on the cave floor, but with a beautiful view of the ocean. I mentally made a note to fix my current "bed situation. As I stretched and started to move around, I remember everything that had happened the day before.
Just to see if I had been dreaming or hallucinating (I was still half asleep at this point and had not realized that there was the fire from last night that was still going), I uttered a single word.
"Fire."
My hands were instantly engulfed in that familiar warmth before the engulfed in flames. I smiled at the fact that I know (hopefully) had an advantage in this unfamiliar place. Just as quickly as it appeared, it faded as I thought about it being doused.
I remembered what I had planned to do last night, but I looked around and saw that the cave did go on for a distance as I had thought last night and that I couldn't see any end in sight. I looked towards the entrance and sighed. I was torn between searching for Manny and exploring the cave.
After a few minutes of deliberation and cursing, I let my hand be engulfed in flames as human nature got the better of me. I decided to explore my current home and then go look for signs of life on the beach.
I slowly made my way through the cave, carefully avoiding and sharp rocks or objects (no shoes remember). I noticed what I that there were several caves that branched off but I keep going straight so that I wouldn't get lost.
Pretty soon, I could hear water which didn't make sense because I had just left the ocean and hadn't made and turns. I wasn't paying attention, as I was listening to water and I tripped over something, and fell straight into a wall of the cave.
The strange thing is, that wall was hollow and the sound of water was louder when my face got closer to the wall (I caught myself right before my face could slam into the wall). I got up and delicately knocked on the wall and the sound that returned was similar to wood. I felt it, and decided that was wood. There was a particular rock that was sticking up from the "rock wall" and of course I felt it and moved.
Well obviously, rocks aren't supposed to that and tried to turn it and the wall opened. Now you can imagine my surprise when a rock wall opened. I took a step forward and tripped again. I looked around and then down and noticed that there were some steps that looked like they had been carved into the ground
When I enter the "wall" I noticed that it was a wooden door and there was some kind of artificial light that light this new cave. I crept down the steps carefully watching my step as I observed my surroundings noting that the lights were modern, but they were old, they still used electricity of some sort.
I got to a wide open space at the bottom of the flight of steps and noticed that there were rooms all around, maybe about 10 in all. I tired one randomly and discovered that it was an armory with swords and bows and all sorts of strange weapons I even saw a flintlock pistol and it had clothes in it. I decided to help myself and started searching for clothes to wear.
-Shortly-
I observed my newfound attire in a mirror. I had found a white long sleeved Henley like t-shirt that was light but slightly constricting so I rolled the sleeves up. I had also found some black tights that were similar to my compressions shorts but heavier and I finished the ensemble with some boots.
"Not bad at all," I said to myself.
I decided to arm myself against anything that might be lurking in the depths of the cave. I picked up a random sword and took a few practice swings, but for some reason I felt awkward (well I knew the reason was because I had never even been close to a sword let alone use or touch one). Something pulled me towards a pile of sheaths and picked up only one that had a sword in it.
I dropped the original sword that I picked up for the roman gladius (looked similar to the Percy's sword from the book series) I had just found. It had a red hilt and as soon as I took a slash with the sword, I felt a familiar warmth spread through my body and the hand was soon engulfed in flames. I feared that it would ruin the sword, but instead they flames engulfed the sword and it somehow I felt like I was invincible.
I snapped back to reality after drooling like a fangirl over my new weapon. I replaced it in the sheath and placed the sheath on my waist. I left the room and closed the door behind me. I noticed that the sound of water was still prevalent and I saw a second flight of steps and went down them.
I went lower and lower, I noticed that the sound of water was getting louder and louder. When I reached the bottom of the steps, I saw a huge ship in a huge cave. I was even more surprised because it was a huge yacht like boat but it had a jolly roger on it. I was pretty much a combination of a yacht and pirate ship. The ship was mostly metal but the decks were wood and there were two masts with sails and the there was no antenna for radio communication.
The cave itself, was amazing because it seemed to lead out to another bay. The was a man made wooden dock and even several smaller boats that actually look liked pirate boats.
I almost went on the ship, but I remembered my promise to myself and reluctantly left the huge and beautiful ship to go searching for people.
-Later-
I had just made it back to my resting spot from last night and realized that I was hungry. I made sure to address that after I finished my search/reconnaissance.
I left the cave and made the short trek down to the beach. The sun was shining bright and there wasn't a cloud it the sky. The jungle was contrasting brilliantly with the ocean and the air was so fresh and clean that it was like I was breathing in pure oxygen (yes I know that pure oxygen can kill you but it is hyperbole). It was truly a beautiful day despite my current situation.
I walked along the beach for about an hour and then I saw a shape in the distance. Several minutes later, I could make out the tall shape of man and shortly after that, I heard a familiar voice.
"HEYYY, IS ANYONE THERE?" The voice yelled.
It sounded like my Manny but I couldn't be sure so I yelled back.
"YEAH, I'M HERE, WHO ARE YOU?"
The man noticed me and started walking faster.
"I NEED HELP, MY NAME IS EMMANUEL," Manny yelled again.
I stared in disbelief for a few seconds and was snapped back into reality when I realized that I had just found my best friend. I broke into a run closing the few hundred yards between us. I almost leapt onto him after I was sure it was Manny, but I saw that he was limping and hurt and he looked beaten.
"I found you little dude," Manny smiled exhausted right before collapsing.
I tried to break his fall as best I could but ended up falling with him. I noticed the he was just bruised and would be fine after some rest, so I decided to get some coconuts and chow down. I knew that it would be a hard journey back home, but at least we were together. I looked over at Manny resting in the grass (I had moved his with much difficulty over to the shade of the jungle) and listened to him snoring. I smiled to myself.
"Friends forever, till the end."
-To Be Continued-
