I picked Tristan up at his house on Sunday afternoon for our big trip to the flea market. Tristan jumped in the car with his man bag in tow.
"Hey Ty! Let's hit it!" he said as he climbed into the car.
"Whattup?" I asked in my pitiful gangster voice.
"I'm grilled to get out today! What's Josh up to?" he asked.
"He stayed in the country last night. Got some time with his friend Diesel."
"You know that is like the sexiest name alive, don't you?" Tristan said.
"I know it is and he could be a sexy guy but he's a little "unkept" for me."
"That can be very sexy, I think."
"It could be but not on him. If he washed that hair and shaved a bit, I could see the possibility."
"You have a pic of him?" Tristan asked.
"I do but I'll have to dig it out of my phone."
"What's Jack up to?"
"He's with the parents this weekend and complaining about it, texting me constantly! Jees!" Tristan snapped and laughed. Connecting his phone to my stereo, he said, "I'm thinking some Lady Gaga today."
"I"m thinking vintage. Put on Madonna!"
"Oh good choice!" said Tristan and her version of "Like a Virgin" began to play. We were singing along as I drove out through the dingier part of town.
"Where are we going?" demanded Tristan. "I don't even know these roads!" he laughed.
"What? No slumming lately?" I asked.
"I quit all that when Jack came along, remember?" he said, laughing again.
"Josh found this place. God only knows how he did it."
We pulled into the parking lot of the Country Wide Flea Market and Tristan slapped his knees.
"Wow! It's huge!" he said.
"Probably not the first time you've yelled that!" I quipped. He cracked up. We got out of the car and walked in. Deciding which way to go took some thought but we went with the flow.
I eased off of the couch lazily. I smelled coffee and found Diesel in the kitchen.
"Sleep ok, honey?" he asked, being a total smartass.
"Waking up in the bed with you would have been sexier!" I replied. He pointed a knife at me, then realizing what he had done, quickly lowered it.
"Fuck, that was stupid," he said. I laughed.
"Naw man, it's alright." He handed me a cup of coffee. "So when do you officially take off for school?" I asked.
"June 20. Going with my dad on a big trip to Maine and back then I head out. It seems far away but it's getting closer everyday," he said, reflectively.
"Everything is," I replied.
After showering and messing around a bit, I decided I should get back to the city.
"Diesel, I don't know why one night feels like a total vacation but I really needed this time...with you." I said.
"It was almost like old times, man. Think we can pull one more off before you graduate? Maybe get some of the guys together? It would be quite a party," he suggested.
"I would love it. Just don't offer it if you can't deliver!" I said.
"I had a girlfriend tell me that one, and man, I delivered it big time!" he exclaimed, grabbing his crotch. I cracked up too.
"Remember when you asked me if I ever peeped?" and he nodded that he did. "Well, I did, and if that's all you got to deliver, well, you better find some reinforcements!" I shouted and he howled with laughter.
"You're still my man, Joshua Warner, after all this time. Still my man," he said, getting quieter.
"Thanks Diesel," and he walked me to my car.
"Careful driving back. I know you are prone to crazy," he said.
"I will be. Text me a date, please. I'm definitely coming back. I want it big!" I said. He gave me a thumbs up.
Tristan was admiring some vintage tops that had some summer flair. I was at another station admiring a brass lamp with a dark green shade that was speckled with little ruby-like jewels that mostly needed some polishing. They wanted $35 but I was looking at similar lamps on eBay that were upwards of $100. Hmmmm.
Tristan came over with some items in his hand and beamed at the lamp.
"Oh my God, that's beautiful," he said. "It would look stunning in my room with that green shade!"
"Umm, I think I'm going to buy it for resale. I can make some money on this one. Sorry," I said, with a grimace.
"You always find the good stuff," he said in a whine.
"Cuz you always wondering around like a kid in a department store!" I said and he laughed.
We talked as we walked, checking out each of the vendors.
"So I hinted to Jack that I may be taking a break like you. He got real quiet, Ty, like he was not happy."
"Well of course he's not going to be happy. Josh was quiet too but he hasn't fought with me on it."
"Well, I'm taking a break for a different reason, Ty," and he stopped me. "Jack is sex crazy and sometimes I don't know if I can take it again," he whispered.
"There's a lunch counter. Let's get a drink. I'm thirsty," I said and I led him to the lunch counter where we ordered sodas. "Now, what do you mean, sex crazy?" I asked.
"We fuck a lot."
"I gathered that, hmmm,"
"Well, when I say a lot, well, Jack fucked me three times the other night!" Tristan said.
"What? And came?"
"Every time. He has stamina that won't quit. Sooo, the sex is good while it's happening. I can keep up with him but, Ty, my insides felt like they were going to come out afterwards. I felt so loose, it was terrible. What do I say about that?" he asked.
"Maybe you need to tell him it's too much. Does he know you get like that?"
"No, I don't want to hurt his feelings."
"It's not hurting his feeling to be truthful with him. I feel like that on occasion when Josh gets passionate and I'm taking some time for my booty to heal too. But I haven't told him that either but he hasn't fucked me three times in a night anyway. Ewww!"
"It was all I could do to run in that track meet the next day. I was struggling."
"You need to tell him, Tristan. As long as he thinks you're enjoying it, he's going to continue. Three times?"
"Oh yeah."
"Hmm, that does sound hot in theory but I couldn't take it. I totally understand." I put my hands on his legs and whispered emphatically, "You NEED to tell him."
"I'm glad I told you because there is so much I"m not telling these days. It's like, there's so much stuff you just don't throw out in general conversation!" Tristan said.
"You're right, which is why I'm glad we're out and about. I need you to come over more often, Tri. I'm missing you so bad."
"Me too. I'm going to work it out. I'm so glad for today! Now how about the other side of the market? We still have a lot to cover!"
It was a quiet afternoon at the house. Mom was grocery shopping and Bill was held up in study, working on his complicated case. I wandered in and asked how he was doing.
"How's it going? You seem really stressed," I said, taking a seat on the leather sofa.
"It's not going well. That's about all I can say. My client made so many mistakes in his reporting. We get laws and statues thrown at us with every line item on his audit," he growled, he said, rubbing his forehead.
"We could have a bourbon and mull it over further," I suggested.
"Have you passed the bar yet?" he asked with a grin.
"Well no," I replied. "I did get an A on my report on the impacts the Tudors had on catholicism!" I said in response, causing Bill to crack up laughing.
"Well, you sound like someone who has passed the bar. A bourbon...really nice thinking."
"Well talk to me about when it's ok for lawyers to lose a case, Dad. I mean, maybe sometimes the case can't be won but that doesn't mean you can't show a case for better oversight or support of your client going forward. I mean, is this an "end all" case for the tax people?"
"Well, Josh, lawyers obviously can't be expected to pull a rabbit out of our hats on every legal issue. However, there are those opportunities when we can make rationale and loopholes work for us. We've chased down every possible...BUT! Well, son, you may have made a great point. Rather than defend the past...hold on," he said, picking up his phone. He dialed someone and told them to have the team in the conference room at 9 am tomorrow morning.
"Josh, you are absolutely right. A good lawyer knows when the law wins the day but a great lawyer knows when to turn the strategy, from the past to the future. Well done!" he chimed. "You're interested, aren't you? I mean in the law, about what I do. You think strategically," he said, as if in a question.
"Yeah, I'm interested. But all I know is winning and losing. I don't know what you do to get there."
"You and I should "pull up" once in a while, Josh. If there is any way I can mentor you in some pre-law discussions, it could give you encouragement. I'm happy with this direction, Josh. And I think NOW is a great time to take a break. Want to go to the club and hit golf balls?" he asked.
"Oh hell yeah!" I said. He shook his head at me.
Bill, Ty, and I stayed up late watching the first episodes from the new series called Cobra Kai, based on the original Karate Kid movies. We didn't expect Bill to want to see anything like that but when he learned of its origins, he plopped down and watched with us.
"I remember Gigi taking us to see the original Karate Kid in the theater. I wish you could have seen her. She was fighting the bad guy in her seat as much as the boy on the screen was. We cracked up laughing at her. She was even worse in the Rocky movies. One time, she accidentally kicked the seat in front of her causing the gentleman sitting there to jump up!" which made Ty and me scream with laughter. After two episodes, Bill told us he would be watching the rest of the series with us and for us not to proceed to another episode without him. Ok, that was really fun. Ty and I were both impressed that he wanted to join in on something.
I awoke and found the house terribly quiet. Mom and dad had gone on to work. Ty was asleep in his room. I drifted in quietly and looked at him. He was partially on his tummy and oooh that ass in his underwear. My hormones were raging lately and porn scenes were a quick relief but didn't provide much substance. I longed for the real thing. I lifted the cover and was about to slip in when he asked, "what are you doing?"
"Climbing in. What do you think?" I said.
"Josh, I told you..."
"Shut up and move your ass over!" I snapped. He looked up at me. "Yeah, I'm climbing in!" I shouted at him. He moved over slightly. The bed was warm and his sheets were soft. I heard him coo when I put my arm over his back.
"Josh, why does this feel so good?" he asked.
"Because you're missing me and you know you are!" and I squeezed him tighter.
"I am. I have."
"Well, I got your point so I think we should push forward."
"I don't know...I mean," and I stopped him.
"Cut the crap, Ty. You got what you wanted. I get your point. I'm in total agreement with you that diversity and time away means something."
"You are?" he asked.
"I'll tell you the truth. When you first came to me and said you wanted space, I thought you were full of shit. I thought it was just some knee jerk reaction to Brett and his knife."
"You did?" he asked with surprise.
"I did. Sounded like a load of bullshit to me. But, in the past week, I have come to realize how fragile my own friendships are and how negligent I have been in paying attention to my friends. My night with Diesel Gray was simply amazing and Caleb and Micah hanging out with us? Ok, that was a huge bonus. Even Diesel enjoyed having them around. And all that stuff you went through with Caleb, I understand that too. He is really a nice guy and really smart. I see why you liked him. While I wish you had been there to experience it with me, I'm really glad I had the chance to spend that time with them. The fact is, I would have been sitting here with you, for you, and not seizing the moment!" I said.
"Exactly, Josh! That's it. Carpe diem! That's what I wanted to get across. I didn't want to hurt you, not at all. I just need to do some things and get some friends back on board."
"I got it. Now, what else do you need because I will not stop you from getting it. But Ty, I need you too. I need a little of this time with you. I need to mull things over with you, to slip in and cuddle with you. I don't want our bridge to collapse while you're building bridges to other places."
"That's an amazing analogy, Josh," and he rolled over to face me. "I need you too and not just for sex. I need this," and he leaned over me and kissed me and locked his body close to mine. He felt so good. He proceeded to tell me about Tristan and Jack and what Tristan had confessed during their flea market outing. I was shocked. I have never fucked three times in a row. Not sure I would even like that.
"Josh, there comes a point where a guy's booty needs a break. Mine is tightening up a little and I want it to be hot and ready for you. Give me a couple more days and if you still love me, I'll give you the fuck of your life. What do you think?" he asked with a chuckle.
"Oh I'll still love you alright and that is a hot offer. You better deliver!" I said, being reminded of my joking with Diesel. In the meantime, I was very happy having Ty's soft, warm body pressed to me.
I came out of the coffee shop having had a frappaccino with some folks from school, the ones who didn't go away for Spring Break. Melanie, who had gone out with Bryce a couple of times, was very hysterical. I'm sorry, but it seems that Lisa Buxtehude took some harsh criticism for being so obnoxious when it appears that Mel is not too far off herself. She's going to have to tone down a bit, I think. Maybe I could use the same advise on her Josh used on Lisa! As I was leaving the Starbucks, I spotted what I thought was Jordan Rose's Tahoe drive by and as it was making a really quick, and illegal u-turn to come back to Starbucks, I figured I was right. He pulled into the parking lot and there were two other guys riding with him. He rolled the window down and you could hear the music bellowing as well as feel the beat from the subbass he had installed.
"What's up little man?" he asked.
"Just had some coffee, now I'm all wired. What about you?"
"Get out!" he snapped to the guys in the car.
"Huh?" one asked.
"Get out. I need a meeting with Tyson here!" he said. They scrambled from the car and I laughed to myself.
"Wow, feels like a meeting with the godfather!" I quipped, climbing into the passenger side. He pulled the SUV forward and into a parking spot.
"How are you really, Jordan. I was very upset about that article business. What happened?"
"Aw man, some chump posted that article and what the fuck! It was uncalled for is all I can say."
"Do they know who posted it?" I asked.
"Nope. The school contacted the website on my behalf and demanded to know who published the article. The website gave the author a chance to identify himself for validation and when the person wouldn't come forward, they brought it down. Fortunately, it was only posted for a couple of days but you can bet your ass the recruiters for Clemson read it. Fuckers are on top of everything when it comes to prospective players. Damn!"
"Crap, I'm sorry," I said. "I hope it doesn't mess things up for you."
"Naw man, Principal Dillard got on the phone with them and explained that it was an attack more than news and he spoke to my character and behavior and shit. Me and my mom was sitting in his office when he made the call. She was crying and shit. I have to tell you, old man Dillard was good to me. I got a whole new level of respect for him and not because he saved my ass, but because he represented me the way he felt he should. He was very fair. I never felt beholden to anyone before but I do right now! I don't mind it when it's worthy. You know what I'm saying?"
"I do and as many times Josh and I have been piled up in his office this year, I know how you feel. You would think he was sick of us by now but he keeps supporting us. Thank the lord for him is what I say."
"You got that right. So what's next for Tyson Breck?" he asked.
"Prom, I guess. I'm playing tennis again and won one of two matches Saturday. I have some areas I need to work on but that's it."
"Hey, that's good. It's early in the season. We're all needing improvement when we first pick up a ball coming into season. You'll get better. I know how you are," and he tapped my leg, sending shockwaves through my body.
"I wouldn't mind watching one of your matches but not sure I'm gonna stroll up into that club!" he said, laughing hard. "Fuck, can you see me drive up to that valet stand and mosey into that place? Shit that is a funny scene," and he was laughing so hard it made me laugh.
"Well, there's some imagery there I can't deny it, Jordan. But I would be proud to have you there anytime, any day."
"Thanks man. I appreciate that."
"Hey Jordan, you know what else I want?" I asked, giving my eyebrows a tweak up and down.
"Ty, we ain't going there..."
"No silly! I want a night out with my friend, Jordan Rose. I want us to get dolled up and hit the town. What do you say? Honestly, it would give me a great moment to remember you by, when you're off in the world playing ball," and I felt myself getting teary eyed.
"Fuck man," he said, giving me a really cool and sincere look. "If that's what you want, that's what you'll get. You name a date and I'm all yours. It would suit me just fine to take you around, have a classy date night!" Seriously, it almost made me tremble to think that this guy, the most sought after guy in high school sports would give me a night. Jordan had always been good to me and I loved him for it.
"Wow Jordan. I'm going to hold you to it. I'll look at the calendar for a Friday or Saturday after Prom, excluding championship weekend."
"Not a problem. Can't wait." I leaned up closer to him and asked, "May I?" and he nodded. I gave him a light kiss on the cheek, friend to friend, so glad he had been one for so long. I climbed out of the Tahoe and his "peeps" climbed back in, giving me a weird look. He pulled out and drove away. "Wow," I thought.
When Ty came home that evening, he was full of stories. He told me about his exchange with Jordan and it dawned on me, I had never done anything socially with him. Thinking back to him dragging me out of that ravine and driving me to the hospital, he had certainly done his part for me. I went to my room and got my phone. I pulled up his number.
<what you doing wednesday?>
<Warner, this is Jordan> which caused me to laugh. He thought I was texting the wrong person!
<Duh! What are you plans Wednesday?>
<Nada. Why you asking?>
<Be at my house at 10 am and wear summer like clothes. Got it?>
<Why?>
<Its a surprise. Dang!>
<I don't have enough experience with you W to trust that!> and that made me really crack up.
<If you want a day of boating, beers, and brothas, then you'll join me!>
<Are you serious? See you Wed>
Ok, this will be amazing and it will be a total surprise for Kyle and Bryce. I told Ty what I did and I got a very predictable response. "Awe dang, can I come?"
Jack had a very unusual request for me. Would I go with him to the mall to pick out something for Tristan's birthday which was coming up next week. I said I would. He picked me up on Tuesday before lunch and we drove out to the mall.
"You know, Tristan has told me he needs to "cut back"," Jack said.
"Yeah, I thought he might tell you that. What did he say?" I asked.
"He says he's feeling a little worn out and wants to recuperate or something like that," and he rolled his eyes back as he looked forward. "I mean, I know we've spent a lot of time together but I didn't think he minded. And seriously Ty, I think you were meddling."
"You what?" I snapped. "I haven't meddled in anything!"
"Didn't you in-FLU-ence him?"
"No I didn't and trying to pick a fight with me when I"m trying to help you shop for me isn't a great idea, Jack! I do support him after what he told me and maybe he does need a break. You do need to take him seriously."
"What did he tell you?"
"Apparently, you have amazing stamina," I said with some emphasis.
"I didn't mean for things to go like that but I couldn't contain myself that night. I worried about it a lot afterwards."
"Jack, I know Tristan is a sensitive subject for you and I know you care about him with everything you've got but our bodies can only take so much. Give him some space like Josh is giving me and he will be inching his way back to you. I promise."
"Do you think so?"
"Hell yeah. He adores you and you are way too deep in it for him to let it go. The space Josh has given me has been so helpful and he's starting to feel it too. At some point, Jack, you have to get parts of your life back. You can't live for someone else twenty four hours a day!" He nodded in agreement.
"Jason has been giving me total shit about the time I spend with Tristan. I kind of agree with you. I'm just afraid..."
"You don't need to be afraid! You and Josh think the same. Every time there's a tremor in the force, you think the world is over. That's not the case."
As Jack parked the car, we walked into Macy's and started browsing around. He picked up crazy things and put them up to himself and did the same to me.
"Nuh uh, that's not happening," I would tell him. Every now and then I would find something halfway decent. After scouring the store to no avail, we slipped into the mall. We got a soda from the cookie place and went to some other stores. I was getting aggravated because nothing was appealing to me and nothing was just right for Tristan.
"Josh and that damn choker!" Jack blurted out.
"Huh?"
"Tristan treats that choker like it's the Great Shroud from the bible, like it's holy. Even has a special jewelry box for it. I don't know how to beat that!" Jack stammered as we left Gap.
"We're not "mall" kind of guys, Jack. Josh knew how we are and just stumbled across something at an antique store. We could check out some of the thrift stores by the university," I offered but I had a gut feeling, a sinking feeling. I knew what I could do for Jack that would solve his problem. I needed to think about it first.
We checked out a couple of other stores and still nothing worked. There was a guy in the Fossil Watch store that was definitely checking us out. Jack was feeling the moment, looking at cool watches.
"Hey Ty, what do you think of this one? How about this one? Ooh look at this one!" showing me different watches. The very cute sales guy looked at me with impatience.
"You should have seen him in the sunglasses store!" I chirped and the guy totally cracked up. We left without deciding on anything.
"Seriously, Ty. That guy was hot and he didn't take his eyes off us!"
"It was you!" I said. "I think he was checking out your ass in those jeans," I said, pointing to his waist.
"I thought it was you!" he said.
"Anyway, he thinks we're together," I said with a laugh.
"Do you think so?" he said. "Well, I wouldn't be ashamed of that at all," he said, bumping against me. I thought that was really sweet and that's when I decided to gift him with the grace of God.
"Jack, honestly, my nerves are frayed from hanging out here. I have what you want back at my house. I know what he loves and I wouldn't let him buy it but maybe it's the ticket to show him some birthday love!"
"Really? What is it?"
"Take me home and I'll show you."
"Something from your online shop!"
"Yep."
"Expensive?"
"Nope."
We pulled back onto Park Avenue and Jack stopped in front of my house.
"Where's Josh today?"
"He's at work. He took tomorrow off so he could go to the lake so he's working all day. You know he's rolling in cash," I said and laughed.
"I figured. I wish I had a job like that!" Jack said, shutting the car door. I took him upstairs to the guest room and led him to the brass lamp with the green shade.
"Wow, it's beautiful and it looks like Tristan, for sure!," said Jack.
"Tristan loved this. He tried to take it from me before I bought it. I planned to make some money with it but, for Tristan and for you, I can part with it. It's a good cause, Jack," and I told him I paid $35 for it and he could give me that for it. He agreed without further discussion.
"Ty, we haven't spent time together like Josh and Tristan have but I want to tell you, when I first met you and didn't know about Josh, I thought you were gorgeous. I wasn't sure which of you I would like best. Spending today with you, I still wonder if you wouldn't have been as incredible as Tristan and..."
"Stop it. You're embarrassing me. You are a hot guy, Jack, but your love for Tristan shows you're a real man. Josh and I both think so," and he grinned.
"I don't want this to sound wrong but, I don't know which of you makes the best boyfriend but I love the one I got, and, well, I just wanted to know what I thought when I first met you..." and he was standing so close to me. I could smell his cologne, obviously selected by Tristan. I could see the pores on his face and his eyes were so deep.
"I'm going to give you this, just this once, and well, you deserve it," and I kissed him. While the first kiss was quick, like a peck, the second one was very passionate. His lips were forceful and his tongue did a smooth lick across my lip. Oh wow, that turned me on and I didn't feel too bad about it. It seemed more affectionate than sexual.
"Oh God!" he chimed in a high pitch voice. "I have not done that with anyone other than..."
"It's ok, Jack. Tristan and Josh have certainly shared their affection. I don't mind giving you that once but that's it. You were amazing, too. Josh always says he didn't know guys like us when he lived in the country. Well, guys like you weren't around much for us back then either. You're a good guy," and I tapped his chest with my hands. He leaned in and I let him steal another short kiss, then I led him out of the guest room. I didn't want a comfy bed giving us any more ideas. I think the exchange was innocent enough and it would be a memory we could both enjoy. Because, that's all it would be, was a memory.
Jack took the lamp and a box that seemed to fit it. He gave me $40 as neither of us had any more cash and said goodbye as I showed him to the front door.
"Thank you, Ty. I trust what you said about Tristan and I'm going to respect his wishes. I'm gonna take it easy on him going forward."
"It's hot that you can "perform" so much but just remember how it makes him feel. It might be time for you to learn to bottom," I said.
"I have already given that some thought," he said, before leaving.
I was exhausted when I got home from work. It was some good hours, though. Ty and I had barely a chance to catch up when Mom came dashing through the door at 5 pm.
"Boys, go put on some clean clothes, something nice and pressed. Bill will be home soon and there's something we have to do. Hurry!" she shouted. Ty and I jumped off the couch and ran upstairs.
"What the fuck!" I said.
"Sounds like someone died." Instinctively, he ran into my closet and pulled out a pair of khakis and a navy blue button collar shirt.
"You need to dress me? Seriously?" I quipped.
"Just put it on!" and he moved into his room to get dressed. He came out and we checked each other out.
"Very nice," Ty said.
"You look good too! Where did you get those pants?" I asked, knowing he got them at the thrift store. We heard Bill come in from work and Mom greeted him excitedly. Ty and I walked down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Guys!" mom announced. "Let me introduce you to the newest partner of B-Bailey, R-Reid, and Spencer Law Firm! He was voted in this afternoon!" and she was choking up all over the place. He grinned at us, not knowing what he should say. Ty walked forward and gave his dad a hug. I was thinking what I should do when I heard Ty say to his dad, with a very quiet voice, "Mom would have been so proud of you, dad. I know she would have," and I watched Bill sink his face into Ty's hair. Again, I wasn't sure what I should do. I looked at mom and she smiled at me with small puddles gathering around her eye make-up.. She was proud of him as well.
Bill looked up at us and announced, "I guess dinner's on me tonight! Anyone want to celebrate with me?"
