It's hard to believe the difference that a year can make in a person's life. If you would have told me a year ago that I would be back on the ice getting ready for a comeback to professional skating I would have laughed at you, now I am a few days away from publicly announcing my comeback. The last year has been a great year for all of us; I guess I will use this time to let you know what has been going on with everyone and how things are in our lives.
Chris and I are doing great, there have been a few rough spots over the last year, but we have worked through them. I have kind of became obsessed with trying to make my comeback, and have spent more time at the gym or on the ice then I have with him. My doctor did release me and said my knee was 100 percent healed, and I shouldn't have any problems that he could think of. I actually think he was a little confused that I had made so much progress. I have a coach now that I get along with wonderfully; the funny part about this is that it's Tyler's dad. I found out that he had been a coach before his wife died and that he had stopped to take care of Ty. He is a great coach, who is helping be get back to the basics of skating. Chris is doing great at work and has been promoted already to Jr. VP for the company. He's happy and loves the new challenges that the gets to deal with everyday. He's also actually learned to skate; he decided that with as much time as I spend at the rink that he might as well learn. Other than that, it's been life as usual for us. Oh year, Chris proposed on our anniversary and of course I said yes.
Brice and Lisa have become better friends over the last year than we could have ever thought possible. We are still having our weekly dinners on Friday nights and have started doing a few more things together. Lisa is doing great in school, teaches part time through her program, and is enjoying it tremendously. Brice is his same normal self; he still goes running with me a few days a week and has got me to go kayaking with him a few times. They did find out about a month ago that Lisa was pregnant and they are happier than ever. It's going to be quite a change for our little group in a few months with the little one comes along, but all of us are looking forward to it. Brice is getting ready to write what he says will be the biggest article of his life, and we are sitting down for the interview soon; he decided to run the article the week after I announce my comeback to professional skating.
Ty is just being Ty; he has started to work out on the ice some with me and is actually pretty good at it. Who knows, maybe down the road he will try to go pro. He has started college finally; whish is a relief to his dad, who has been worrying about him and what he was going to do with his life. Over the past few months we have started to see Derek around more and they have been getting close. Chris keeps telling me to mind my own business, but I can't do that. Ty has also started to go to the gym with me and go running a few days a week, and it is really started to pay off for him. Having him around is nice, I miss my brothers back in Texas and he kind of fills that void out here.
Other then these highlights everything is pretty normal in our little corner of the world...well as normal as it can be for us. I have started seeing David at the rink on the weekends when I help out and I have started teaching him some really basic things. He has so much energy and is a handful at times, but he's fun to teach. He gets so excited when he can do something that I've just taught him, and his mom just sits and watches, laughing when he celebrates doing something new. Well, I guess I have caught everyone up on the happenings over the past year.
The next chapter is going to be the interview with Brice that is going to lead into the announcement that Brian is officially making his comeback. I hope everyone continues to enjoy the story and keeps reading. Please send me any comments or ideas to flyinghomo@gmail.com
