A Voice from the Past Chapter 19
Even knowing what was coming, the news took Jason's breathe away. Tony caught him just as he was about to miss the chair.
"Jason, baby, are you okay?" Tony asked.
"No, I'm not okay! My friend just passed away; how can I be okay?" Jason said, crying.
"Jason, I'm sorry for your loss; if you need anything, let me know," Dr. Barrett said.
"Thank you, doctor. Can he go in and see Mary for just a minute," Tony asked.
"Sure, just give the nurse a second to finish up in there," Dr. Barrett said.
Tony helped Jason up, and they slowly walked down the hall to Mary's room. They stopped outside the door, and Tony took Jason's hand.
"You want me to stay here in the hall while you have a few minutes?" Tony asked.
"You won't mind?" Jason asked.
"No, baby; if you want the time alone with her, I'll wait here until you need m6e," Tony said.
Jason reached for the door handle, but stopped and turned to face Tony.
"I love you, baby; thanks for being here," Jason said, leaning in and kissing Tony slowly on his lips.
As Jason opened the door, he turned to look at Tony again, smiled, winked at him, and mouthed, "I love you".
Jason looked at Mary lying on the bed with a peaceful look on her face. The tears began to fall. He sat at the side of the bed, and took her cold hand in his.
"Oh, Mary, I can't believe I'm sitting here now with you like this. It was so quick; you just came back into my life with those beautiful babies, who are now my son and daughter, and whom I will love and protect forever. How will they understand that you are not coming home to them? I promise you that Tony and I will take care of them, and they will want for nothing. I'm so sorry, Mary, that it had to end like this," Jason said, as he broke down, crying even more, and holding Mary's hand to his cheek.
Tony slowly opened the door and saw Jason crying, and it just broke his heart. How was he going to help Jason get over this. He reached out to Jason and put a hand on his shoulder, and Jason turned around, looking into Tony's eyes.
"Oh, Tony, she is really gone," Jason said, still crying, while Tony was holding him.
"I know, baby. We will get through this. I know it hurts now, but everything will be fine. Let's goes home to our son and daughter," Tony said.
"Our children; I like that. Let's go," Jason said, leaning over and kissing Mary on the forehead.
"Hello," Heather answered.
"Hey, honey; I wanted to tell you that Mary just passed away. Tony and Jason are with her, but they will be home soon," Carol said.
"Oh, mom, I'm sorry. Everything here is fine; the babies are still asleep," Heather said.
"I know, sweetie. It's sad, with her having the twins, but they still have a family that will love them. We will be over there in a little bit. I don't know if we will be there before Tony and Jason get there or not," Carol said.
"Okay, mom; I'll see you when you get here," Heather said, hanging up the phone just as the door opened.
"Hey, Heather, how are things going?" Tony asked.
"Things here are good; Tyler and Tammy are still asleep," Heather said, hugging Tony.
"Baby, I'm going upstairs to the babies," Jason said, not waiting on a reply, as he walked up the stairs.
"Is he going to be okay, AJ," Heather asked.
"Yes, it just hit him so hard," Tony said.
Jason opened the door, and Tyler was awake. "Dadda," Tyler said, holding his arms out.
"Hey there, baby boy; why aren't you sleeping?" Jason said, picking Tyler up.
"Momma," Tyler said.
"Oh, baby, momma will not be coming home," Jason said, tears falling.
"No! Me want Momma, now," Tyler said, crying.
"Oh, Tyler, how do I get you to understand that mommy won't be coming home," Jason said.
"Momma," Tyler said, crying.
"Tyler, Momma has gone to heaven to be with God; Momma was sick, but God will make her well; so she will live with him; One day, all of us will go to heaven and live with Momma there. You and Tammy will be living here with me and Poppa until then," Jason said.
"Momma no come home?" Tyler said, with tears running down his little cheeks.
"No, son it will be you, Tammy, me, and Poppa," Jason said, as Tammy began waking up.
Tammy climbed out of her bed and walked over to Jason, and put her little hand on his leg. Jason looked down, with tears in his eyes.
"Dadda, you no cry," Tammy said, as Jason picked her up and placed her on his leg, across from Tyler.
"Oh, my sweet children, how do I get you to understand that Mommy will not be coming home," Jason said, as they cried with him.
Tony slowly walked into the room, and his heart broke at the sight before him. How was he going to help the man that he loved, and now the son and daughter he would do anything for. He slowly walked over and took the three into his arms, whispering to them, not seeing his Mom and Dad standing at the door, with tears in their eyes.
"Jason, baby, we will figure out a way to get them to understand about their mom," Tony said.
"Tony, how will we get them to understand?" Jason asked.
"We will figure something out," Tony said, suddenly looking at the doorway where his mom and dad stood.
Tammy looked up. "Grandma," Tammy said, getting down and running to her new Grandma.
"Hey there, little girl," Carol said, picking Tammy up.
"Dadda said mommy no come home; her gone to live with God," Tammy said.
"Yes, baby, daddy is right; mommy will not be coming home, but you have a family here," Carol said.
"Mom, can we have some time with just the four of us?" Tony said.
"Sure, honey; your father and I will take Heather and head home. You call if you need anything," Carol said, handing Tammy to Tony.
"Thanks, mom; I'll call you tomorrow. Our wedding is coming up, and we have a lot to do," Tony said, kissing his mother's cheek.
Tony walked over to Jason and took his hand. Come on, baby, let's take our children and go lie down. So they walked down to their room, and put the children in their bed. Jason got on one side with Tyler, and Tony got in on the other side. The children cuddled into their new dad's arms, as they lay there, all crying, but gradually falling asleep.
"Damn it, I have been waiting on Ben for over an hour now," Jimmy said, hanging up the phone.
"What's wrong, son?" Andy asked, coming into the living room.
"Dad, I can't get Ben on the phone. I'm going over there; is that okay?" Jimmy asked.
"Sure, just be home before dinner," Andy said.
"Okay dad, I have my cell," Jimmy said, as he walked out of the house.
Walking up to the front door of Ben's house, Jimmy began to worry, seeing that the front door was ajar. Debating on if he should enter the house, he slowly walked in, heading toward the stairs. He heard a moan. Thinking someone was hurting Ben, he began to walk faster, but without making any noise. He heard the moaning again, only this time it was not a moan of pain, but what he heard broke his heart.
"Oh yes, Paul, right there. I can't ever get Jimmy to do that," Ben said.
"Really, do you have to mention him? I have been trying to get you to leave him for weeks. I love you, Ben," Paul said.
"I love you, too," Ben said.
"What the hell is going on here," Jimmy yelled, as he walked into the room.
"Jimmy, baby, what are you doing here?" Ben said, moving Paul off him and jumped from the bed, standing there naked.
"Don't `baby me,' you asshole! You just said you love him; how could you?" Jimmy said, with tears in his eyes.
"Well, Paul will give me what you won't," Ben said.
"I thought you loved me," Jimmy said.
"I do love you, but you won't give what I want," Ben said, as Jimmy struck him across the face, knocking Ben to the floor.
"You son-of-a-bitch; you never loved me if all you want is sex. I never want to see you again, so stay away from me," Jimmy said, running from the room, never to see Ben again.
As Jimmy walked home, he couldn't believe that he would never be with Ben again. He thought that he would be with him forever. Even with them being young, he knew Ben was who he wanted in his life forever. He arrived at the house, but couldn't go in. He sat on the porch, wondering what to tell his dad. Andy was watching out through the window, and could see that Jimmy was upset.
"Mindy, hold dinner; I'll be right back; I'm going outside to talk with Jimmy," Andy said.
"Okay, honey," Mindy said from the kitchen.
"Jimmy, son, you okay?" Andy asked, as he sat down beside Jimmy on the top step.
"It's nothing, dad," Jimmy said, wiping away the tears with the back of his hand.
"Come on, son, I can see that you have been crying. Did you and Ben have a fight?" Andy asked.
"Sorta," Jimmy said.
"Can you give me more than that," Andy asked.
"I walked in on Ben in the bed with another guy. He tried to tell me that he loved me, but that this other guy gave him what I wouldn't," Jimmy said, falling into his dad's arm.
"I know you don't want to hear this, but you are young, and a very handsome young man; you will have your pick of guys to have as a boyfriend. It's good that you found this out now, rather than later," Andy said.
"Dad, don't give me the, `I'll find someone better' speech. I love Ben, and he didn't want me because I wouldn't have sex with him," Jimmy said.
"Jimmy, that's sad. You were doing the right thing, but I know that's not much consolation now. When you feel more like it, I think we should discuss this further. Right now, your mom probably has dinner ready, so let's see if we can get you to eat, and maybe you will feel better, and then we can talk more about this," Andy said.
"Sadly, and with tears in his eyes, Jimmy said, I don't know if I can eat; I'm not really hungry, but I'll try. Dad, I love you," he said.
"I love you, too; Jimmy, don't ever forget that," Andy said, holding the door open for him.
The next few days were busy, with all that needed to be done in preparation for the wedding and the funeral. Jason decided to just have a small service for Mary. She was to be cremated, so there was no need to make it a big deal. That night, after the service, Tony and Jason were sitting on the couch cuddling, while watching Tammy and Tyler playing on the floor. It was the night before they were to be married.
"Baby, let's take a ride; I want to you something," Jason said.
"Okay, but can't it wait until tomorrow," Tony said.
"No, it's your wedding present, and I want to show you and the kids tonight," Jason said.
"A present? I love presents. You know, you didn't have to get me anything. Marrying you is all I need," Tony said, kissing Jason.
"Ewwww, poppa kisses dadda," Tyler said, pointing at the two.
Laughing, Tony and Jason brook their kiss. Jason picked up Tyler, tickling him on his belly. "You don't like to see dadda kiss poppa? Well you need to get use to it'" Jason said.
"Okay, let's go see what daddy has to show us," Tony said.
Jason was driving, because he knew where they were going.
"Honey, where are we going? What could you show me by heading out of town?" Tony asked.
"You will see; now be patient and just wait," Jason said.
So wait is what he did. Tony reached over and took Jason's hand. "I love you so much," Tony said.
"Here we are," Jason said, pulling into the drive of a beautiful two-story brick home, with a wraparound porch, and a fenced- in backyard.
"You know who lives here?" Tony asked.
"I do, and you know them as well," Jason said, as he pulled some keys from his pocket.
"Why do you have keys to this house?" Tony asked.
"Just take them and open up the door," Jason said, getting the children out of the car.
Tammy and Tyler took off running to the house, their little legs trying to climb the steps.
"You two be careful," Jason said, taking Tony's hand in his.
As they got to the door, Tony was still a little leary about going in. "Are you sure about this baby? What will the people say who live here," Tony said.
"I don't think they will mind; now please open the door," Jason said.
Tony unlocked the door, and slowly opened it. Tammy and Tyler went in first. As Tony walked in and looked around, he gasped. "Jason, what is this?" Tony said.
"What does it say?" Jason asked.
Tony read the sign out loud. "Welcome to our home Tony, Jason, Tyler and Tammy Copper-Williams,"
"So what do you think this is?" Jason asked.
"Are you saying this is our house?" Tony said, looking around.
"Yes, baby, this is our house. When you agreed to marry me, I started my men on building this house," Jason said.
Tony couldn't believe it. The house was beautiful! It had a huge living room, that had all they needed... a giant flat screen tv, with a library of DVDs, including a wide variety of children's DVDs. Tyler took off, as he found a DVD that he liked. "Sponge Bob, dadda, me watch now," Tyler said.
"No, Tyler, not now. We are going to finish looking at the house," Jason said.
Tyler stomped his foot. "Sponge Bob, now," Tyler said.
"Tyler Carter Cooper-Williams do you want a time out?" Jason asked.
"No, dadda," Tyler said, turning to put the DVD back.
As they left the living room and walked into the kitchen, Tony saw that it had all the new appliances, and looking to your left, he saw two doors... one went to a laundry room, the other to the dining room, going through the dining room, which circled to the hall from the living room. There was a guest bedroom that connected with a bathroom on the first floor. The upstairs had four bedrooms and two baths. One of the bedrooms that would be used as the master room, which had its own bathroom. Two of the rooms would be used by Tyler and Tammy, and the other room could be used a guest room, or as an office for the both of them, if they wanted. Then they walked down to a basement, which was an idea that came to Jason, after getting the children. Tammy and Tyler stood in the doorway with wide eyes; they couldn't believe what was before them. They saw everything they needed for a two- year- old to have fun. While the children were playing, Tony noticed that Jason had a weight area set up for them.
"Jason, I can't believe this house; it's beautiful, and you did it without me knowing, as well as the changes you made after getting the children," Tony said, kissing him.
"Dadda, me and sissy play?" Tyler said, pulling on Jason pant leg.
"Yes, son, you and your sister can play for a minute, while I talk with Poppa," Jason said, as they took off running.
"I know where they will want to spend all their time," Tony said, with a laugh.
Tony and Jason had just put the children down for the night, and were snuggled in their bed, talking. They didn't feel right making love with the children in the next room.
"We will have to figure out something, because I'm not going to spend the rest of my life not making love to you," Tony said, kissing Jason on the lips.
"I know, baby, and it won't be that way for long," Jason said, sliding his hand down to give Tony's manhood a squeeze.
"Now don't you start that, if you don't want to make love tonight," Tony said, lying on top of Jason, kissing him deeply.
They continued to kiss deeply, with Tony swiping his tongue across Jason's lips. Jason allowed him to enter his mouth. Both were now moaning, and
Jason rolled them over to where he was now on top, and began to kiss around Tony's ears, and whispered to him.
"I love you, Anthony James Cooper, and there is nothing that will stop me from loving you. If I have to sound proof a room for us, then that is what I will do," Jason said.
"I love you, too, baby, and I will always love you," Tony said, reaching his hand between them, stocking Jason cock.
"Mmmm, I like that, baby; don't stop," Jason said.
"I don't plan on it; I want you; I want to be inside you," Tony said.
"I want you, too, baby, but let's not wake the children," Jason said, leaning down and kissing him. As they kissed, Tony rolled them back over to where he was now on top.
"We are going to have the best life together, I love you sweetheart," Tony said, removing Jason's pants.
Tony reached for the lube to ready his soon- to- be husband for the love he had to give, when they heard a scream coming from the other room. They jump from the bed, with Jason trying to run and put his pants on. They ran into the room.
"Mommy!" Tyler was screaming, waking Tammy as well.
"Tyler, what's wrong, son" Jason said, picking him up and hugging him.
"Me want mommy," Tyler said, crying
"Oh, baby, I know you don't understand, but mommy is not coming home," Jason said, sitting down on the bed and hugging Tyler to his chest.
"Mo mmy home now," Tyler said, not able to get his words out from crying.
Jason looked up at Tony, who just had gotten Tammy out of the bed. He sat down beside Jason, wondering how they were going to get the twins to understand that their mommy was gone for good. They sat on the bed, hugging each other, all crying for the loss of Mary.
