Now on to my generic disclaimer!-
The story you are about to read contains diaper use, violence, adult language and strong sexual content. The following is evil, illegal, should be banned, and all that other blah, blah, blah. If reading a coming of age story of self-discovery about pre-adolescent and adolescent boys that wet their beds, wear diapers, and explore their awakening sexuality with each other does not tickle your pickle (or if the law in your area says that pickle tickling is illegal) then don't read it.
Chapter 6: Thursday November 14th, 2013 – 6:03pm
As I entered the dining room, I couldn't help but feel hungry as my nose was filled with delicious smells. I saw Mrs. Jackson bring a bowl of food to the table. At the table itself, I saw a man, a boy, and a girl.
After setting the bowl on the table, Mrs. Jackson came over to me. I couldn't help noticing that same look I saw her have earlier. As she approached me, a shiver ran through my body.
"Jamie, this is my husband Mr. Jackson." Mrs. Jackson introduced him to me. As she said this, I heard an edginess to her voice.
Mr. Jackson stood and shook my hand. As he did this, I thought I recognized the same hardness that I saw in Mrs. Jackson's eyes. "Nice to meet you Jamie." His greeting seemed somewhat forced and not at all genuine.
Mrs. Jackson then pointed to the boy who looked around my age. "This is my son Adam. You will probably only see him when he is not skulking in his room." Mrs. Jackson seemed displeased with her son for some reason.
Adam didn't seem to have any interest in me at all and seemed happy to just ignore me.
Mrs. Jackson finally pointed to a teenage girl just a little older than myself. "And this here is Jessie."
Jessie smiled warmly at me. "Welcome to our home Jamie." She said politely to me. I smiled back at her and for some reason; I felt that she seemed to be the only one who truly appeared pleased to meet me.
Mrs. Jackson then pointed to the chair next to her teenage daughter. "Jamie, please take a seat." She instructed.
Sitting down, I was about to reach for a piece of chicken when Mrs. Jackson, who had taken a seat at my end of the table, suddenly slapped my hand.
"Ouch!"
"You will wait until grace has been said!" She snapped at me.
My eyes teared a little but somehow I managed to will myself not to cry. I did rub the back of my hand where Mrs. Jackson had struck it. I couldn't remember the last time my own mother had hit me in such a manner.
Mr. Jackson cleared his throat and then started to say grace. I looked around and saw everyone else clasp their hands and close their eyes, so I copied them. I wanted to make sure I did everything right as I didn't want to get hit again.
As soon as Mr. Jackson was through saying grace, Mrs. Jackson then got up and dished out everyone their food. I was not use to this as I had always dished my own plate while at home. Well maybe not when I was little, but I had been doing it that way for a long time. Mrs. Jackson though seemed to like control and control she had.
When she got around to dishing my plate, I tried to tell her what I wanted but she would not hear of it.
"Child! You will eat what is put in front of you!" She commanded.
She then finished dishing my plate and sat it in front of me. She had given me a drumstick, mashed potatoes and gravy, some green vegetable that looked like little leafy balls. I remember not liking it, even if I couldn't remember its name. There was also a buttered roll.
Hungry I began to eat. I have to say, Mrs. Jackson was a good cook. The Chicken was baked and was pretty good. I had managed to eat everything on my plate; that is besides the green stuff. Still hungry I decided to ask for more.
"Can I have another piece of chicken?" I asked politely.
Mrs. Jackson frowned at me. "You must clear your plate first before getting seconds!" She demanded.
"But I don't like the green stuff." I argued.
"Well I guess you won't be getting seconds then" She smiled cruelly at me. "Just know this as well, if you refuse to eat something in this house, you will not get anything else to eat until you have finished everything on your plate!"
I couldn't believe what I was hearing! Was she telling me that she would not let me eat anything else until I finished the green stuff? Personally I did not like this rule one bit. My mom had a similar rule as well but at least she allowed me to choose what I wanted to eat. Her rule was made to make sure I didn't waste food. Mrs. Jackson though was being unfair.
No matter how much I wanted to try and stay on the Jackson's good side, I just could not force myself to eat the green stuff.
"If I can't get more, can I be excused?" I asked, wanting to get away from these people.
"You will sit there until everyone is done!" This time the order came from Mr. Jackson. He then looked across the table to his wife. "Why is it that we always seem to get the obstinate ones?" He asked her.
"I totally agree but he is younger than the others. He still might be able to be trained properly." Mrs. Jackson replied to her husband. Then she embarrassed me totally. "Oh, before I forget, I need for you to run to Wal-Mart after dinner."
Mr. Jackson looked up at her as she asked this. "Why do I have to go to Wal-Mart?" He asked his wife dryly.
"It seems that Jamie has trouble keeping his pants dry." Mrs. Jackson then told everyone at the table about how I had wet my pants on the way there. She finished by telling her husband that she wanted him to pick up a rubber sheet from Wal-Mart to protect the mattress.
My face flushed red with embarrassment and followed with anger. How could she have said that in front of everyone? Again I felt like jumping up and yelling at her. Somehow, I managed to continue to sit where I was. I did notice for the first time that Adam seemed interested in me. I could hear him snigger quietly.
Mr. and Mrs. Jackson then continued to talk about me. The only problem is that they referred to me as if I wasn't in the room.
I found myself getting more and more upset. It felt awkward and rude for them to be talking about me as if I wasn't in the room. Angry, I sat back in my chair and folded my arms. I couldn't wait until everyone was finished so that I could go back to my room.
It was about a half hour later when dinner was over with. Of course I did have to suffer as I watched Mrs. Jackson bring out desert. It looked like butterscotch pudding and for a moment I considered choking down the vegetable just to be able to get some pudding as well. I decided though that I needed to make a stand on this point. I felt if I stood my ground that maybe they would see that I can't be forced to eat something I didn't like.
When everyone was done eating their desert I started to get up. "You were not yet excused!" Mrs. Jackson stated strictly.
I again sat back in my chair stubbornly and waited for Mrs. Jackson to excuse me. She made me wait until everyone else had left the dining room and I wondered why.
"Jamie, follow me into the kitchen." Reluctantly, I got up and followed her into the kitchen as instructed. Mrs. Jackson then pointed at the sink of dishes. "While here, you will be required to do chores. For now, you will be assigned dish duty. This means it will be your job to fill the dishwasher and start it. You will also have to wash all the pans by hand as I don't want them in the dishwasher. Do you understand?"
I wasn't looking forward to doing chores but it was something I was at least use to as I did them at home for my allowance. I assumed that was the case here as well. I sighed, and then nodded my head in agreement. Not happy about my situation but not having a choice, I got started on the dishes. Mrs. Jackson did instruct me on how to operate the dishwasher before leaving me to the dishes. She then went to put away the food as I got started loading the dishwasher. I also cleared the dishes off the table and washed it off. There was one thing I had noticed but I didn't give it a second thought. My plate had disappeared.
It took me about an hour to finish the dishes. Not knowing what to do, I went out to the living room where I found Mr. and Mrs. Jackson watching TV. Mr. Jackson must have gotten back while I was doing the dishes. As for their children, neither of them were in sight. As much as I would like to have sat down and watched TV, I felt awkward and even a little scared around Mr. and Mrs. Jackson. So instead, I headed back up to my room.
As I passed the first door on the right, I once again heard what sounded like a videogame being played. "Must be Adam's room." I thought to myself as I headed to my own.
Once in my room, I decided to shut the door behind me. Again, I looked at the bare room and wondered if I would ever feel comfortable here.
With nothing else to do, I went to my dresser and got out one of my books. I then went to my unmade bed which was up against the wall on one side of the room. I then sat with my back to the wall and began to read.
Soon I was lost in my book and for the time being my mind was able to escape my reality. For a brief time, I was able to entertain myself. For a while I forgot, that I was ... All Alone!
