Now on to my generic disclaimer!-
The story you are about to read contains diaper use, violence, adult language and strong sexual content. The following is evil, illegal, should be banned, and all that other blah, blah, blah. If reading a coming of age story of self-discovery about pre-adolescent and adolescent boys that wet their beds, wear diapers, and explore their awakening sexuality with each other does not tickle your pickle (or if the law in your area says that pickle tickling is illegal) then don't read it.
Chapter 7: Thursday November 14th, 2013 - 8:06pm
I am not sure how long I had been reading when there was a knock at my door. What I was sure of, was that I had managed to read a couple chapters of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which is the 5th book of the Harry Potter series. So far, I loved this book and found myself really engrossed in it. It at least allowed me a couple hours of worry free time.
I closed the book making sure to mark the page I was on. Setting it down on the bed next to me, I wondered who it was that was knocking on my door. All I could guess was that it must have been Mrs. Jackson coming to make my life even more miserable.
"Come in!" I called out.
Not knowing what to expect, I stood up as the door opened. As I said, I had been expecting Mrs. Jackson. Boy, was I relieved to see her daughter Jessie, standing in my doorway instead. She was holding a neatly folded stack of bedding. A pillow was on top of it. As our eyes met, she again smiled at me.
"My mom asked me to bring this up to you." Jessie's smile, like earlier, seemed warm and genuine. She then saw my book lying on the bed. "I am sorry; I didn't mean to interrupt you. So you like Harry Potter?"
"Yeah, I love the Harry Potter books."
She set the stack of bedding down on the bed and picked up my book. "So, you are reading the 5th book?" I nodded my head as she flipped it open. "It has been a while since I read any of them, but I do remember enjoying the stories very much."
I found this surprising as I never met a girl who was into Harry Potter before. Especially a teenage girl.
"You really like to read Harry Potter?" I asked in amazement.
"Yep, read them all. Did you see the movies?"
"I saw the first three but I decided to read the rest of the stories before I watched the other movies." I answered enthusiastically. "I just started book 6 a couple days ago and if I finish it before I get to go back home, I brought book 7 with me as well."
"Well, if you finish Book 7 before you are able to go home, I will loan you my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." Jessie informed me.
"Thanks, but hopefully I will be able to go home before that." I said with the real hope that this would indeed be the case.
Jessie then set my book on the dresser. "Just know that if you want, the offer will remain."
"Thank you."
Jessie then looked at the stack of bedding she sat on my bed. "Would you like me to help you make the bed?" She asked. Again I felt that she was the only person here that truly seemed to care about me.
"Thank you, it would be nice to get your help." I responded politely.
Jessie then set the bedding on the floor and helped me pull the bed away from the wall. She said that it would be easier to make it if we did this. Once we got the bed pulled out some, I saw Jessie pick up a package that turned out to be my new rubber sheet. Embarrassed, I watched as she opened the package and shook out the sheet. Trying my best to not show my embarrassment, I helped Jessie put it on my bed.
Even though I found this whole thing embarrassing, I was use to sleeping on a rubber sheet. In fact, my bed at home had one on it to protect it. My mom had yet to remove it even though I had gone 3 months without an accident. She was worried that I might start up again and she didn't want me to ruin my bed. She did tell me though that if I continued to remain dry for a little longer, she would let me remove it eventually. There was one thing nice about my bed though. The rubber sheet was covered with a cloth mattress protector and this helped hide it so that when my friends came over, they didn't notice it. Unfortunately, Mrs. Jackson did not give me anything to put over the rubber sheet. My bottom sheet was the only thing between me and it. I knew that lying on it would be a constant reminder of the accident I had on my way here.
Jessie noticed how quiet I was as we made my bed and I guess she knew I was feeling embarrassed. "I am sorry my mother embarrassed you at dinner. I know it's not an excuse but my little brother used to wet his bed as well and it was something that really irritated her." Jessie explained to me. "In fact, this was his old mattress before he got his new one." Now this helped explain the stains on the mattress.
I mumbled something under my breath. Let's just say it was not a very nice reference for Mrs. Jackson. Personally, I didn't care how much she hated her son's bedwetting; it was no excuse for embarrassing me like she did.
"What was that?" Jessie asked me.
"Oh... Nothing." I responded. "I just wish she didn't treat me like her son. I don't wet the bed anymore and the accident I had on the way here was just that, an accident."
As I remembered her comments at dinner time, I couldn't help but get angry. Even when I did still wet the bed, my mom would have never done what Mrs. Jackson did. It was totally wrong and I couldn't help feeling a little for what Adam must have gone through. That didn't last long as I remembered the gleam in his eye when he heard about the accident I had.
Angry, I looked at Jessie. "You try holding your bladder when you have to go badly as I had to!" I snapped at her but instantly regretted it.
"Please don't get mad at me, I am just trying to help!"
I sighed. "I'm sorry Jessie. I didn't mean to yell at you. I am just so frustrated. I am also very worried about my mom." I apologized to her.
"Jamie, I do understand. I just want you to know, if you ever need to talk, just let me know." I found this offer of hers very generous.
As Jessie continued to help me make my bed, she told me some things about herself and her family. I now knew that she was 17 years old and even had her own car. I also found out that she worked a few hours each week at McDonald's to help pay for her car insurance. What really surprised me was that her little brother Adam was younger than I thought he was. I would have sworn he was almost a teenager himself. He was bigger than me after all. So it surprised me to learn that he was actually a couple years younger than me. According to his sister, Adam had stopped wetting his bed almost a year ago. So this wasn't why his mother seemed to be irritated with her son.
"I noticed at dinner that your mom seemed to not be pleased with your little brother. Would it be okay to ask why she seemed to be upset with him?" I wasn't sure if I was asking something that might be considered nosey.
"Oh don't worry about that. They have been bumping heads a lot lately. Remember how I said that our mom is real strict. Well, Adam hates always being under her thumb and because of this, they often argue. That's why he tends to hide in his room a lot. He just sits in there and play's his video games."
Boy, this didn't make me feel much better at all about Mrs. Jackson. I did feel a little for Adam and now felt that I had a better understanding of how he felt. Maybe I judged him too quickly.
"Okay, I will try and see if we can be friends, though he didn't seem too interested in me at dinner time."
"Well, the last couple foster kids we had were not too nice to him." Jessie explained. "My brother also doesn't have that many friends as he gets picked on a lot at school. I guess you can say that he is judging you the same way that my parents are. They expect you to be as much trouble as the other foster kids we have taken in."
"But you are being nice to me?" I was little confused on this point.
"Well, let's just say that when I saw you at Dinner, I thought you were a little cute." At this, I blushed a little. Jessie giggled as my face turned red.
For the rest of the time we were working on my bed, neither of us said a thing. It wasn't until the bed was finished before the silence was broken.
"Well the bed is made..." Jessie had just put the pillow sheet on the pillow and placed it on the now made bed. "...my mom will be up shortly. It is almost bedtime for you and my brother."
Not knowing for sure what time it even was, I started to wonder about it. I was almost positive that it couldn't be all that late. "It can't be that late already?" I asked as I looked at her quizzically. "What time is it?"
Jessie glanced at her wrist, which had a nice expensive looking watch on it. I might have been wrong but when it comes to watches, I wasn't sure. The only watch I ever had; came out of a box of `Captain Crunch' cereal. The watch had stopped working a few months ago and I ended up tossing it into the trash.
"It is almost 8:30." Jessie informed me. "That is Adam's bedtime on school nights. I also heard my mom say that she was going to have you go to bed at the same time."
"But I don't have to go to school tomorrow!" I declared. "Why would she make me go to bed that early?" I was starting to sound a little whiny.
"I know that my mom can be pretty strict and I wish I could help you more, but that is something that I can't help you with. In her mind, she feels that she is right and no matter what anyone says, they will not be able to change her mind. Just think of it this way; at least you will be able to sleep in tomorrow."
I knew that Jessie was right but I wasn't use to such an early bedtime. My mom always let me stay up until 9:30 on school nights and on non-school nights; I have been allowed at times to stay up past midnight. I was starting to wonder how many other rules I will have to get used too.
Well, at least I did have one friend here. A part of me wondered if Jessie would allow me to hang with her when she wasn't at school. I figured the least amount of time I was around the other Jackson's, the better my time would be here. I know I was just a boy, but Jessie seemed to really like me.
"Jessie, do you think I could hang out with you tomorrow, once you get home from school?" I asked her hopefully.
"I'm sorry, but I have to work tomorrow." I won't be getting home until after you and my brother have gone to bed."
"Oh... Ok..." I sighed. "It sounds like I am going to be bored out of my skull tomorrow."
"Jamie, do you mind if I give you a bit advise?"
I shook my head. "No, any advice you can give me would be very helpful."
She then gave me a serious look. "Try your best to stay out of my mom's way. I know it is probably going to be boring, but the more you are out sight; the more you will be out of her mind."
"I will try. I guess I will just stay in my room until called at meal times."
I noticed that Jessie seemed to remember something. "I almost forgot. I know that you didn't like the Brussels sprouts we had tonight for dinner, but please eat them anyway. My mother is not one to give in on this point." As she said this, I suddenly remembered that this was the name of that green vegetable stuff that Mrs. Jackson wanted me to eat. I shuddered at the thought of having to choke down the sprouts.
"Okay, I will try." I would try but I was really hoping it would be a while before Mrs. Jackson served them again. It never occurred to me that Mrs. Jackson would make me eat my Brussels sprouts from tonight, for breakfast tomorrow.
Jessie, then opened the door and was about to leave when she turned back towards me. "If you want, the day after tomorrow I am off from work and you can come with me and some of my friends."
"Really! I would like that very much." I answered enthusiastically.
"We will probably go over to the mall and hang out for a while. It might get a little boring, but you are welcomed to join us."
Something told me that I would much rather hang with several older teenage girls then be sitting around here. I just wondered how her friends would feel about hanging with a boy my age?
"Thank you for inviting me, I hope it will be okay with your friends as well."
"It shouldn't be a problem." Again she looked as if she was going to leave and again she turned back towards me. "As for tomorrow, Adam isn't that bad once you get to know him. Maybe he will let you join him playing his video games."
I wasn't sure about this, Adam gave off the vibe that he didn't want anything to do with me at dinner time. Even so I nodded my head to show Jessie that I would consider what she said about her brother.
"Well, I need to work on my homework. I will see you later" Jessie then smiled at me once more before finally leaving me. I then found myself buried in my book and ... All Alone!
