Part Five

By Chrissy and Peyton

Kayla was hesitant to drive to the home but she trusted this person as he was very nice and polite to her at the funeral. Once she arrived she walked up and knocked on the door.

"Hello, may I help you?" said the lady who opened the door.

"I hope so ma'am. My name is Kayla and I'm looking for a man that goes by the name of Big Mike. Does he live here?"

"Why yes he does. He is my husband. May I ask why it is you want to see him?

"Yes ma'am. Big Mike and the other bikers escorted us to a funeral a little over a year and thanked us for helping to bury a soldier who had fallen on hard times. He told me if I ever needed his help to give him a call. Now, I find I could really need his help if he is able to do so."

"I see. Mike is at work right now but he is due home any minute for lunch. Why don't you come in and wait for him."

"Thank you ma'am," Kayla said. She walked into the house finding it was small but rather nice. Not something she expected from a biker. No empty beer bottles or filled ashtrays and empty pizza boxes. It reminded her of Ella's house. It was very neat and well kept.

Mike's wife then introduced herself as Sheila offering Kayla something to drink while they waited.

They weren't in the house more than a few minutes when Kayla could hear the roar of a motorcycle outside.

"There he is now. Have a seat and he'll be in shortly."

Mike came into the room from the front door seeing Kayla sitting on the sofa.

"I know you from somewhere don't I?" he said.

"Yes, you escorted me to the funeral of Brian Roush about a year ago."

"Aw, yes, you were with another girl a little younger than you. You paid for Brian's funeral and burial site. What brings you here?"

"I need a big favor that I'm not sure you can help with but I thought I would try. You told me to contact you if I needed help and I find I do need help."

"What is it? I'm sorry. I don't remember your name."

"Kayla Manning. The girl that was with me at the funeral is Alexis Flowers. She was the girl that Brian had been protecting until he died. She was a runaway from an abusive situation and he took her in to protect her. Once he died I took her in and tried to help her too."

Kayla trying to hold them back, began to have tears run down her cheeks. Big Mike and his wife seeing this, Sheila went and sat next to Kayla putting her arm on Kayla's back and handing her some tissue.

"I'm sorry. This is hard to say," Kayla said.

"It's okay, Kayla. Whatever it is you can tell us," Mike said.

"Alexis and I became close, real close if you know what I mean. She, because of her previous issues and what Brian told her had trust issues. Anyway, something happened and she felt I had betrayed her and she ran away again."

"Have you reported this to the police?" Mike asked.

"Yes, but Alexis is smart and if she doesn't want to be found she knows how to stay low and the police haven't had any luck finding her."

"How do you think I can help?"

"Because I think I have located her and before I go after her I want someone to have eyes on her so I know she is there."

"Why don't you tell this to the police?" Mike asked.

"Because if she sees them, she will run again and then I don't know if I will ever find her. If they catch her she will feel we betrayed her again and even if they bring her back she will run away again. She has already told us she would."

"I don't understand what it is you want of me?" Mike asked.

"Because I want to have a chance to talk to her face to face but I need to make sure she is there before I go after her."

"And you think I can find her and verify it's her without her knowing who I am?"

"Yes but not necessarily you. You see I have found her in Florida. Before I go there to see her I thought you might have connections with either your biker groups or with veteran's who can witness her being there. If they can verify it's her then I will drive down there and talk to her. I don't want anyone to actually talk to her but if I give you an area to look then maybe someone will see her and they can then tell me she is there."

"I don't see how this would work and it is highly unusual. Unless we have an address or something it would be next to impossible to locate her. Besides, I don't want any of us to get into trouble following a young girl around. It wouldn't look good to law enforcement if they thought we were stalking her."

"I know it's a big issue but you don't realize how much I miss her and her guardian is still stressed out over it to the point it is affecting her heart. I'm really at the end of ideas of what to do. I have an area where she might be and if I give you a four or five block area to look it might be all we can do. If it is too much trouble, I understand."

"Okay, so let me get this straight. You want me to see if I can get someone down in Florida to eyeball a...How old did you say she was?"

"She just turned sixteen."

"Shit, a sixteen-year-old girl without anyone thinking we are stalking her, but make no contact with her either. You just want us to verify it is her?"

"Yes," Kayla said.

Mike gave out a slight laugh. "I can see how whoever the lucky son of a gun is to find her is going to think. They are going to think we are crazy for asking this. But I'll give it a try."

"Oh, thank you," Kayla said. You don't know what this means to me. Here are some pictures I had of her. You can pass them on to those who need to see them. Oh, and she may not be using her real name of Alexis. When she was on the street, she used the name Beth."

"I'm not sure how long this will take. I'm not even sure if it can be done at all, but we will give it a try. We owe you for what you did for Brian," Mike said. "Give me your number and I'll contact you when I know something."

Kayla rose up from the sofa and walked over to Mike giving him a hug and telling him thank you. She drove over to Ella's to check up on her before it would be time for her to pick up Jake.

A month went by and no word from Big Mike on Alexis. Work had already begun on the office space for Rose Marie and her new partner. Marta Wilcox had finally decided it was time for her to leave the law firm too and she had agreed to partner with Rose Marie. The building was half leased out and work had begun on the space these businesses would occupy. At this point Kayla figured they would be covering the payment of the building and utilities with the lease payments. In order to cover the payment for the remodeling they still needed more tenants.

Kayla came up with a plan to encourage new tenants, and the ones who had already signed leases, to work together to fill the building with tenants and work to keep each business profitable. It was highly unusual and would require each business to be honest with their income. If it worked it would ensure the building would function as a unit not as individual business thus motivating tenants to move in and stay. It involved each business agreeing to chip in a small percentage of their profit each quarter to a fund that was to be used for advertising and marketing the entire building. In addition, they would have a semi-annual open house to the public, with give aways from each tenant, which would encourage other customers to shop in the building. Additionally, they would offer huge discounts to tenants and their employees to shop in their store. Even the new law firm of Jenkins and Wilcox would represent any tenant or their employees in legal matters related to their business or for personal reasons for half the going rate on legal fees.

It was a new idea and very risky but all tenants seemed to be excited about it and agreed. It wasn't long before they were able to entice other new businesses to sign leases and within another month the building was full.

Kayla had been busy since she had contacted Big Mike and while it was still on her mind it wasn't consuming her thoughts and time as it had initially. She and Rose Marie's relationship remained strong and they still made love two to three times a week.

Doing a walk-through of the law office, as it was almost completely finished with the remodeling Kayla, Rose Marie and Marta were discussing office furniture, and how to situate the rooms. Kayla's phone rang.

"Hello," she said.

"Kayla, it's Big Mike."

"Hey Mike, I was just thinking about you earlier and was going to give you a call."

"I have some good news for you. We found her," he said.

"Oh my god. You found her?"

"Yep, just where you said to look. It took several days of asking around and trying to be discreet but one of the bikers down there sent his seventeen-year-old daughter to where we saw her to strike up a conversation with her. She is using the name Beth like you thought."

"I can't believe this. Are you sure it's her?"

"She is staying with some beach rats by the beach. The day we found her she was sitting under a tree staring out over the ocean. She seemed lost to the world until this girl started talking to her then she opened up but never said where she was from. The picture matches her perfectly though so we are sure it's her. It seems that people around there have seen her in that same spot almost every day for the last month just staring out over the water."

"Oh my god, Mike! Thank you so much! You don't know what this means to me. Tell me where to find her. I will drive down to see her."

"Let me give you the name and contact of the person who found her and contact them when you get there and they will take you to where they say she goes a lot. Are you driving alone?"

"Yes, probably. If all of us went she might run. If it's only me I have a better chance of getting her to talk and come back. Why?"

"That's a long way for you to drive by yourself. I have a better way. Let's give you an escort like we did to the funeral. My wife will ride in the car with you to the state line. Then another club will take it from there and so on and so one until you are there. That way you have company while you drive in case you get sleepy and we get to ride a good day on the road together and meet up with another club. It's a win-win for all of us."

"I couldn't ask you to do that for me, but I won't turn you down either. I'm just floored by your generosity. When do you want to leave?"

"How about this weekend? That way everyone is off from work."

"Sounds like a plan. Do you want me to come over to your place to meet up and what time?"

"Be here at eight in the morning and we'll have kickstands up at nine."

"I don't know what that means but I will be there at eight. Thank you, Mike. You are truly a sweetheart."

Rose Marie and Marta heard part of the conversation. When Kayla put her phone back in her back pocket she had this smile on her face.

"I take it they have found Alexis?" Rose Marie asked.

"Oh my god, yes! They found her! I'm leaving Saturday morning and being biker escorted all the way to Florida to where she is."

Rose Marie while happy for Kayla and Ella, knew this would be the end of her and Kayla. No preparation could prepare her for the empty feeling she was feeling in her heart right now. As much as she tried to resist she had fallen in love with Kayla and with all the things happening she wasn't sure she could handle all of it without her. If Marta and Kayla weren't there she would have sat on the floor and bawled uncontrollably.

Marta sensed a big change in Rose Marie and without knowing all the details of Kayla and Rose Marie's relationship she highly suspected that Rose Marie was in love with Kayla.

"Kayla, what do you think of this idea about the furniture?" Marta said breaking Kayla away from Rose Marie so she could gather her composure back.

Friday came and tomorrow Kayla was leaving for Florida with no timetable for returning. Since Kayla had received the news of Alexis on Tuesday they hadn't made love at all. Rose Marie knew if she was going to ever again share her bed with Kayla it was going to be tonight.

Kayla seemed preoccupied with packing and making preparations for while she was gone. Ella didn't know that Kayla was going after Alexis. They had told her that Kayla had to go out of town on business concerning the new building they owned and would be gone a week. Ella was to pick up Jake and keep him until Rose Marie was finished with work.

Kayla had just finished packing everything and placed her suitcase on the floor. She turned around to see Rose Marie standing in the doorway of the bedroom watching her with a look of sadness on her face. Kayla's heart just about broke as she knew she had ignored Rose Marie and knew this trip could alter their relationship for ever. She walked over to Rose Marie whose eyes were about to tear up. She placed her hands onto Rose Marie's cheeks and leaned in kissing her lips. Rose Marie couldn't hold back and the tears began to flow.

"Hey, don't do that," Kayla said and began to wipe the tears from Rose Marie's face. This isn't the end. Nothing changes between us, or how we feel about each other. There is no guarantee Alexis will come back, and if she does, we will figure out what to do then. Until then that is my side of the bed. I hope you keep it warm for me while I'm gone."

"I'm so afraid Kayla. I tried not to, but I fell in love with you anyway. I don't know what I will do without you."

"Come here," Kayla said and pulled Rose Marie over to the bed. "Tomorrow is tomorrow and today is today. Today, I'm right here next to the woman I love. When I come back, I will come back to the woman I love. The only difference is, I might have the other woman I love with me. If that is the case, then we will figure out what to do. Until then, it's you I'm going to make love to."

Kayla pulled Rose Marie in close and kissed her. Her hands moved across her body as she slowly yet seductively began removing Rose Marie's clothes.

"I remember not too long ago standing here and you doing the same thing. That was when I realized just how much I loved you," Rose Marie said as she slowly began undressing Kayla.

They fell on the bed still kissing and holding tight to each other. Their hands wandered finding each other's breasts and pinching the nipples causing each to moan. Almost at the same time, they moved their hand down across the other's body until it rested between the other's legs. They each could feel the warmth and wetness they seemed to elicit from each other with the simplest of touch. In only seconds each of their fingers was inside the other pushing in and out. Their breathing became very ragged and it was apparent they had the other very close to cumming. Seconds later they both screamed and their mouths while locked onto each other, were no longer kissing, but holding on to the other's mouth as they climaxed.

Their bodies jerked and shuttered from their orgasm and they resumed kissing keeping their fingers inside the other but not moving them around.

"Turn around," Rose Marie directed Kayla who knew immediately what Rose Marie wanted.

Kayla who was half on top of Rose Marie turned and straddled Rose Marie with her head over Rose Marie's pussy and her pussy was over Rose Marie's head. They both began licking the other without hesitation and bringing the other to another massive orgasm after about ten minutes of licking.

They lay together arm in arm running their fingers through the others hair and on their cheeks not saying a word to each other. After minutes of rest they would lean in and kiss again which would again start the heat between them. After cumming two more times from either their fingers or mouths they were exhausted and unable do any more.

The next morning Kayla left for Big Mike's house. As she left she turned to Rose Marie, "Last night was not a final time making love between us. Even if Alexis comes back with me we will continue to sleep together and make love until such time we decide it is best that we don't."

Kayla was out the door and away. What she didn't see was Rose Marie shedding tears about the possibility this was the beginning of the end of their relationship.

Driving up at Big Mike's, Kayla could see several motorcycles already in the driveway. She parked on the street and walked up to the porch where everyone was standing or sitting. They were drinking coffee and eating breakfast. Big Mike's wife had made eggs and sausage for everyone. Kayla had no sooner walked onto the porch when she was handed a plate full. She went over and sat next to Big Mike.

"Are you scared of us or scared of where you are headed?" He asked.

"Do I look scared?" Kayla responded.

"That and your arms and hands are shaking tells me you are scared of something."

"I'm not scared of any of you. I know to some you look big, tough and mean with your leather, tattoos and beards but I know the other side of you and know you wouldn't hurt a flea."

"Then you are scared of where you are headed or what you will find when you get there?"

"Frightened beyond words as to what I will find."

"A word of advice from an old biker who doesn't show fear on the outside. You are braver than most soldiers I know and more caring than any. I know you can do this. It's okay to be scared. Just keep it inside of you and look more at the reason you are doing this. Focus on why you want to go and you will be okay."

"Thank you Mike. I'll remember that."

Mike looked at his watch and called out to everyone. "Kickstands up in fifteen. Finish up and hit the head if you need to go."

Kayla turned to Mike asking, "I've heard you say that twice now. What does kickstands up mean?"

"Just like a bicycle a motorcycle has a kickstand. You use that term to mean you should be on your bike, started up and ready to roll with your kickstand pulled up for riding."

Kayla walked to her car and got in with Sheila in the passenger seat. She heard the pops and roar of the motorcycles as they started up thinking it did sound neat to hear all of them together and how loud it must be to neighbors and others as they drove off.

Mike pulled out with two bikes following him. Kayla pulled in behind those bikes and the remaining bikes followed Kayla as they began their journey. It was almost hypnotic to hear the motorcycles riding at a steady pace but talking to Sheila kept her focused on driving.

Kayla learned that Mike had been in the military, but was discharged after his last deployment. Sheila and Mike, whose last name was Watson, had been married for twenty years. They had a daughter, Makaela, who they lost when she was five from a swimming accident. She would have been seventeen this year. Sheila told Kayla even if she hadn't helped Brian that Mike would have helped her find Alexis. They both still mourned the loss of their daughter, and they know how losing someone you love feels. Kayla had more respect for Mike and Sheila now and made a mental note to do something special for them after all of this was over.

The journey to the state line after a few stops to rest the biker's arm, legs, and butts from riding, really didn't seem to take long. They were met in a town just over the state line at a small restaurant by the next group that was escorting Kayla. She thanked and hugged each biker for bringing her this far giving Mike and Sheila an extra hug and a kiss, thanking them.

It was early evening before Kayla reached the town in Florida where Alexis was supposed to be staying. The biker group brought her to the town then left her with just one biker and his daughter who were the ones to actually see Alexis. They drove in Kayla's car so the noise of the motorcycle wouldn't draw any attention.

Once they were at the beach location, the daughter took Kayla to the site where she said she saw and talked with Alexis or Beth as she went by here. The daughter told her that Alexis would show up around four in the afternoon, sit and stare out over the ocean until around six then leave. Since it was after six Alexis was already gone.

Kayla thanked the biker and his daughter and checked into a hotel near the spot where she hoped to find Alexis. She bought some fast food, taking it up to her room, and settled in for night. Her thoughts were consumed with what she would say if she saw Alexis.

She was up early not long after the sun had risen not able to sleep well, her nerves keeping her awake. She strolled along the beach as it was fairly deserted this early in the morning, before heading back towards her hotel. She stopped at the site where Alexis usually sat looking around to see where she could stay and not be seen until Alexis showed up. Having found a good spot her only concern was if Alexis came from that direction. She would walk right past her to get to her spot. It was the most secluded spot in the area though, and the only one that provided cover for her to not be so conspicuous among everyone else in the area.

The day went by real slow but finally four o'clock was approaching. Kayla decided to take up her position early in hopes of seeing Alexis, then having time to figure out how to approach her. She waited and waited thinking time really does crawl when you want it to go faster. Five o'clock came and Kayla began to think Alexis was going to be a no show. She decided to wait fifteen more minutes, before she would have to wait until tomorrow and try again. The fifteen minutes were up and her heart sank as she feared Alexis may have moved on to another location and she would have to start looking all over again.

She turned to walk back to her hotel, seeing Alexis walking her way about thirty yards away. Her head was down so she may not have seen Kayla, who quickly ducked behind the tree she had been leaning on. She turned her back to Alexis hoping from this angle, with the tree, it would not reveal who she was. Apparently it worked as Alexis walked past the tree within ten feet of Kayla and never turned to see her.

Kayla moved herself as Alexis walked by so she kept the tree between her and Alexis, until Alexis took her spot on the ground and sat crisscross on the edge of the beach. She watched for several minutes as Alexis sat there staring out over the water as if meditating. It was now or never Kayla thought. She didn't come this far to walk away. She remarked to herself how pretty Alexis had become in the not quite a year since she had been gone. She was tanned, her hair was long and beautiful and what a body she had. Kayla's heart raced as the love she had for this girl was coming back to her in torrents.

She circled back around Alexis so she could come up on her other side, almost directly from the back, hoping Alexis wouldn't notice it was her until she was there. As she approached she realized after all last night and today, she still had no idea what she was going to say to her. So she said the first thing that came to her mind.

"It's so beautiful and peaceful watching the waves as they crash onto the shore then go back out and come back again."

Alexis acted as if she didn't know who was talking to her. She recognized the voice, and spun around to the direction the voice came from, to see Kayla standing behind her.

She turned back around facing the beach. "Yes it is. Very peaceful."

"May I sit with you?"

"You've come a long way to not sit."

"I don't want to disturbed you if you would rather I will go."

"Too late now. I was wondering how long it would take for you to come over here instead of hiding behind the tree."

"You saw that, huh? I guess I'm not made for stakeouts or spying on people," Kayla said and sat down next to Alexis. "By the way, Happy Birthday. Slightly late but this was the soonest I could get here."

"Thank you, but you didn't have to come all the way here to wish me a happy birthday. But somehow, I don't think that is the reason you are here."

"No, it's not the only reason I'm here but it was good timing to come this close to your birthday. I hope you had a wonderful birthday."

"Thank you. What is it you want Kayla? What's the real reason you are here?"

"For you, Alexis. I came for you. All of us are missing you so much and we want you to come home."

"That bridge was burnt a long time ago. I don't think me being there is good for anyone."

"Then we will rebuild any bridge that is burnt. Anything can be repaired with understanding, time and patience. You not being there hasn't been good for any of us. We've missed you and have been worried sick over you being gone."

Alexis brought her knees up placing her feet on the ground, her arms across her knees and her chin on her arms. "It's been too long."

"Can I ask you a question and get a truthful answer from you?"

Alexis nodded her head.

"When you left you said something was missing and you had to find it. You ended up here for a reason. Did you find the answer to what was missing?"

Alexis played in the sand with her hands trying to come up with an answer. "When Brian died you took me in. At the time I thought I had everything to make me safe, happy and secure. After he died, you told me his mission was accomplished because he had taken care of me until you took over. But I had made him a promise too and I didn't live up to that promise. He wanted to see the beach one more time before he died."

"You know if you had wanted to come to the beach on his behalf, I would have gladly brought you here. You didn't have to run away from us."

"I didn't know at the time that's what was missing. But I knew something was drawing me here, and I had to come on my own. I couldn't be what you or any of you expected or wanted me to be, because I didn't know what I felt. All I knew was I had fucked up everything with you and Ella. And I needed space to sort things out."

Kayla didn't know how to respond without risking getting into a disagreement on how everyone felt so she just sat there in silence.

"Of all his possessions I kept this." Alexis said pulling out a ring that was a ring for those who served in the branch of the military Brian had served.

"I come here every day and stare out over the water hoping I will find the answer as to why I felt the need to come here and why I brought this ring."

"Maybe because it's Brian's and you brought it instead of him. Through the ring he can be at the beach."

"I don't know. That's why I'm here. To figure out why. Can I ask you something?"

"Of course you can. You can ask me anything. I have nothing to hide from you."

"How's Ella?"

"Her heart is not as strong as it was. She is under too much stress and it's affecting her health."

"What's causing the stress?"

"I don't want to place the burden on you, but it's you. She is worried sick about you. She sees you leaving as her failure and she is having a hard time dealing with it."

"Did she not get my letter?"

"Yes, but it didn't stop her from thinking she is at fault."

"So that is the reason you are here? You want me to come back so Ella won't feel stressed?"

"That is a big reason why, yes."

"So you want me back but only for Ella's health?"

"No, that's not what I'm saying. You're backing me into a corner with one question at a time. I came here for Ella, yes. She needs to know you are okay. She needs to feel that she didn't fail you. But I'm also here for me. I told you I loved you and that hasn't changed. I still love you with all my heart and I want you back but I'm not going to beg you for me. You have to decide if you want to come back with me, or for Ella, or stay here."

"What about Rose Marie?"

Kayla hesitated before she answered. She couldn't lie to Alexis but she also knew telling the truth might determine if Alexis came back or not.

"I'm in love with her too. In fact we are living together and sleep together."

"Doesn't sound like you missed me all that much."

"I know this sounds weird and believe me it does to me too. I love both you and Rose Marie for some of the same reasons and for different reasons. Rose Marie and I have talked about this before I came here and she knows the situation. She is aware that I am in love with you and want you in my life. She also knows I love her too. Rose Marie loves you too and she wants you back fully aware it might mean she and I no longer sleep together. It doesn't change how much I love her. It means my love for you is deeper and stronger and my need to be with you surpasses my need to be with her."

"You are aware how bizarre that sounds?"

"Yes, I do and it is very hard to explain. But I am in love with two people, and I can't live without either one. It doesn't mean I will have sex with the two of you, but at this point I'm really not sure myself where this is headed, or how to explain it."

"You are a real basket case, Kayla!" And you think I am the one confused? And this is supposed to convince me to come back with you?"

Kayla had to laugh at that because Alexis was right. Who in their right mind could love two people at the same time, and want both in their lives, expecting the other two to accept this arrangement.

"Do you still love me?" Kayla asked after a period of silence.

Alexis didn't answer but sighed placing her head back on her knees. "For all of what we've been through and for your truthfulness in admitting you love two people at the same time, yes, I still love you."

Alexis glanced over at Kayla who was staring out over the ocean and she could see a tear drop or two running down Kayla's face.

"Let me get this straight. You want me to come back with you because the stress of me being gone is affecting Ella's health. You also want me to come back because you love me, yet you are in love with Rose Marie and sleeping with her. You don't know how this is going to work, yet you want me to come with you so you have two people to love and make love with?"

Kayla smiled and let out a small chuckle. "When you put it that way as bizarre as it sounds, yes that is what I want. The bottom line is all of us have suffered from you being gone. We all have our own degrees of love for you. In that short time you became part of us and we are all having a hard time without you. We miss you and want you back. The question is do you love us and want us back?"

Both girls were silent for a while. They sat there looking out over the water not really knowing what to say.

"Come with me," Alexis finally said standing up and extending her hand out for Kayla who took it. She pulled Kayla towards the water.

They walked down to the water's edge. Alexis let go of Kayla's hand taking Brian's ring out of her pocket. She tossed the ring as far as she could out into the ocean. "Brian, I hope you enjoy the beach as much as I have. May you have peace for ever. Love you."

She turned taking Kayla by the hand. "Mission accomplished. Let's go home."

Kayla and Alexis walked from the beach to Kayla's car. Not a word was spoken on the way though Kayla kept a tight hold of Alexis's hand in hers. She had an inner smile on her face, as it felt good to have her hand around the girl she so loved and missed. Alexis's last words were ringing in her ears and into her heart, "Let's go home." Alexis by those words was acknowledging where her home was.

As they approached her car Kayla broke the silence. "I'm in a hotel about two blocks from here. We can stay there tonight and leave first thing in the morning."

"I'm in a room about six blocks that way," Alexis said pointing in the opposite direction. "I'll show you how to get there so I can get my things."

They drove the short distance to where Alexis was staying. She went inside to get her things telling Kayla she would only be a few minutes and to wait in the car. Once Alexis got out of the car, Kayla took out her phone and called the biker who had helped her find Alexis.

"I just wanted to tell you it was Alexis and we talked. She is going back home with me tomorrow. And I wanted to tell you thank you so much for your help. I couldn't have done it without you."

"I'm very happy you found her and you are quite welcome. Do you need an escort to get back?"

As Kayla was talking to the biker, Alexis came out from the house with her backpack and a duffel bag containing her clothes. She put them in the back seat and got in the front passenger seat.

"No, that won't be necessary. You have done so much all ready. I really didn't need one coming down but Big Mike insisted. Thank you for the offer anyway. I was really calling to thank you again for all your help."

"What time do you think you will be leaving?"

"I hope we get up and leave between eight and nine in the morning that way it's not too late when we get home. Again thank you for all of your help. I owe all of you big time for helping me."

"You're welcome. We were glad we could help you. Drive careful on your way back."

Kayla ended the call and turned to Alexis, "You got everything?"

"Yep, all set. Who was that you were thanking?"

"Do you remember the biker group that escorted us to Brian's funeral?"

"I remember being escorted but I wouldn't remember any of the bikers?

When I was going to drive down here, I contacted them to ask for their help as I didn't know how to get here. They escorted me so far then another group escorted me for a while. Then another group until eventually I got here. I was thanking them again for helping me, and telling them I found you and we were heading home."

"Cool, I bet that was a site having bikers escorting a car that far," Alexis said.

"It actually was, except there were times when their speed never changed, and the roar of their bikes was hypnotic, making me sleepy. I was glad they kept changing their speed here and there when we weren't going through towns."

They arrived at the hotel and Alexis and Kayla went up to the room. "In a little while we can go out and get something to eat. For now I would like to sit and rest a bit."

The room had one queen sized bed, a desk and chair and a small round table and chair. Kayla plopped down on the bed sitting with her back on the headboard. Alexis took her backpack off placing it on the floor next to the desk. She put her duffel bag next to Kayla's suitcase which was on the table. She sat in the chair opening her duffel bag as if to be inventorying her items.

It wasn't but five minutes later, Alexis looked up to see Kayla had slid down and was resting on the pillows. Her eyes were closed and from her breathing, she knew Kayla had fallen asleep. She let her sleep for about ten minutes more to assure she was asleep. She then crawled up on the bed moving over next to Kayla. She stared at Kayla for a few seconds remembering the love the two of them had shared and wondered if they would ever feel that way about each other again. She laid her head next to Kayla, snuggling up closer to her. She closed her eyes knowing that no matter what happened between the two of them she felt safe and secure with Kayla.

Kayla awoke feeling pressure on her shoulder and arm. She opened her eyes seeing Alexis curled up next to her with her head in the crook of her arm and shoulder and her one leg over top of Kayla. She instantly smiled, as the closeness she felt having Alexis this close to her, was something she thought she had lost forever. Glancing at the clock she realized she had been asleep almost two hours.

She didn't want to disturb Alexis but if they were going to get something to eat they needed to get up and get going. Without hesitation she leaned her head down and kissed Alexis on the top of the head.

The kiss was just enough to wake Alexis. She moved her head away from Kayla and sat up. "Oh, I'm sorry. I must have fallen asleep. I didn't mean to sleep on you."

"Because you don't want to sleep on me or you weren't ready to yet?"

"I wasn't sure you were ready."

Kayla moved over to Alexis looking into her eyes to see if there was any regret or hesitancy and seeing none she leaned in kissing Alexis on the lips. It was a sweet no thrill or tongue action kiss, but a simple kiss to the lips.

"Don't wait for my permission. I've been ready for this for many months," Kayla said after breaking the kiss. 'It's getting pretty late. We should go get something to eat so we can come back and get to bed early. We have a long drive ahead of us and I am going to need a navigator and lookout."

"A lookout? Why do you need a lookout?"

"Because it is a long ride and at times it is monotonous. If I start getting droopy eyed I need you to yell at me to "Lookout", Kayla said and laughed.

"Oh great," Alexis said. "Just when I was convinced I was safe and secure with you now I'm risking my life riding back with you."

The both laughed at each other which really helped break the tension that still had existed between them prior to the nap they took.

Out the door they went in search of a restaurant they could eat at that wasn't considered a beach bar or tourist restaurant and thus overpriced.

After dinner they went back to the hotel and took individual showers getting dressed for bed. Neither was sure if anything was going to happen this night so each seemed reserved. Not seeing any indication from the other they were interested in intimacy they crawled in bed staying on their respective sides soon falling asleep.

Much like the nap yesterday afternoon when Kayla awoke Alexis was snuggled up against her with her arm draped over Kayla's waist. Seeing the time on the clock Kayla knew they needed to get up, dressed, have breakfast so they could get on the road. As much as she was enjoying Alexis snuggled up against her and her arm around her she had to wake Alexis up.

Kayla put her own arm over Alexis, hugging her slightly and kissing Alexis on the forehead. While it woke Alexis up with Kayla's arm around her she wasn't free to move away like she did yesterday.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," Kayla said to Alexis.

"Mmm, does this mean it's time to get up?"

"Afraid so. If we don't get on the road soon we might be driving at night and I would prefer we not do that."

"Okay, let's get up then."

They each took turns using the bathroom and getting dressed. Once they had themselves ready and all of their belongings packed they went down to the breakfast bar the hotel served free to customers. They ate, taking some fruit and biscuits with jam with them for the trip, and checked out of the hotel.

Kayla no sooner turned the corner to walk to her car, when she saw two bikers with their bikes parked blocking her car in its parking space.

"What are you guys doing here?" she asked.

"We decided you still needed an escort back home. We are the first leg of the journey and others we will meet up with as we go."

"I told you last night you had already done too much for me and I could manage on my own."

"Yes you did. But we each have daughters close to your age and the thought of you striking out on a journey that long, having to go the back roads like you have to, is too dangerous for girls your age. We couldn't live with ourselves if something happened to you on your way back."

"You guys are just too much. You didn't have to do this but I am ever so grateful to you. You are truly wonderful people. I tell you what. If you ever come my way, you call me and we will escort you around our town and show you the sites."

"You have a deal. So, are you ready to head out?"

"Yep, as Big Mike would say, kickstands up," Kayla said bringing a laugh to both bikers.

Before they could put their luggage in the car and get in themselves, the bikes popped and roared to life almost scaring the both of them as they were so close to the bikes.

They headed out beginning their trip home.

"They really are loud aren't they?" Alexis said laughing at both of them for jumping when they started up.

"Yes, they are. Wait until we hit the highway and you hear them really get up to speed," Kayla told her.

They had only been on the road about fifteen minutes and were just getting on the highway when Alexis shouted out, "Lookout!"

It startled Kayla and she jumped in her seat. "Oh my god, what, what?"

"Nothing. I was just trying out the early warning system to see if it works and obviously it does," Alexis said and giggled at Kayla.

"You little shit. You scared the poop out of me with that," Kayla said and laughed back. "Remember pay backs are hell."

"You can't pay me back for doing my job. I was just testing it to see if it works. Next time it might be for real."

"Paybacks are hell. Just remember that."

The first part of the trip nothing really special happened. They sat in relative quiet neither really knowing what to say to the other. After about a half hour Alexis broke the silence, "The sound of the bikes at a steady pace really is hypnotic. It could easily put you to sleep."

"I told you it was. Wait until later this afternoon when we are both tired from being in the car all day. That's when it will really get to you. I'm just glad they go through some towns and have to slow down changing the routine. And I'm also glad they are only with us for a few hours each before they swap off with another group. It gives us a break but I can't imagine what it does for them."

"Yeah, I didn't think about them having to ride for so long on a bike. That would hurt the butt," Alexis said.

"Do Ella and Rose Marie know we are coming back?"

"Ella doesn't even know I came to find you. I didn't want to worry her any more than necessary because of her heart. That way if you didn't come back then I wouldn't have said anything to her."

"You don't think she knows you went somewhere?"

"Yes, she knows I'm gone but she thinks it's for a business reason. Much has happened since you've been gone. Rose Marie was having issues at work because she is divorced and seeing me. Ella and I convinced her to go out on her own. We bought an office building and are converting it into retail and office space with her offices on the top floor. Ella thinks I'm traveling meeting with a person concerning the building."

"Apparently I have a lot to learn when I get back. Does Rose Marie know I'm coming?"

"No, I haven't called her. She only knows I came here to find you."

"What does she think of all this and having me back?"

"Like I told you yesterday, she is going to love having you back. She has missed you too. Don't worry about Rose Marie."

"You say that but I can't help but worry about all of it. Where am I going to stay when I get back? What about us? Where are you going to stay? If you and Rose Marie are in love and living together how is it going to work with me there?

"Alexis, I admit I didn't think this through very well. In fact, beyond finding you and bringing you back I didn't think beyond that so I don't know how to answer any of your questions or concerns. All I can say is we will figure it out in time. It may take some time but we will figure it out."

"I think I should stay with Ella for now and you should stay with your girlfriend," Alexis said and turned her head looking out of the passenger side window. Kayla couldn't see her for watching the road and the way Alexis had her head turned, but Alexis could feel the tears in her eyes and was trying desperately from letting them fall.

Kayla tried to think of a retort but she could not think of anything to say that would make this any easier for all of them. She knew she was in real trouble and was on the brink of losing not one but both of the loves of her life. She really hadn't thought this through, and now she was going to be forced to make some hard decisions that could break not only her heart, but those of Rose Marie and Alexis. The thing she kept focusing on was she found Alexis and was bringing her back. Not only would it make Ella happier and hopefully less stressed but she was happy too. She had the girl she knew she loved with all her heart back in her life.

It wasn't long before the first leg of the journey was up and the bikers pulled into a gas/convenience store where Kayla saw three other bikers waiting for them. After bathroom breaks and a short rest, she and Alexis hugged both the other bikers thanking them for escorting them before heading out with the next group of bikers.

They no sooner started the engine when Alexis pointed at the biker escort and said, "Follow those bikes!"

"I know to follow them. You don't have to yell at me," Kayla said back.

"Ok, first you get your panties in a wad over me trying out the early warning system you assigned me to be. Now you are doing it again after you assigned me to be your navigator. For someone who is supposed to be so frigging smart you sure don't seem to grasp the concept of people doing what you instructed them to do."

Kayla looked at Alexis and Alexis looked back, except Alexis stuck her tongue out at Kayla when she looked. This caused both girls to break out in laughter. Kayla reached over and grabbed Alexis's hand squeezing it before heading out following the bikers.

"Maybe finding you wasn't such a good idea after all," Kayla said.

"You can let me out now if you want to," Alexis said but not seriously as she knew Kayla was joking with her.

"Not on your life. I found you and I'm not letting go of you ever again."

"You mean that?"

"Yes, yes I do mean it," Kayla said now a little more serious.

Alexis just smiled as that was what she needed to hear. She sat back in her seat looking over the scenery as they drove with a content smile on her face.

The day was long but they finally pulled into a rest area which would be the last one before they got home. She instantly recognized the one biker as Big Mike waiting for them. Kayla got out of the car and ran to Big Mike throwing her arms around him and giving him a hug.

"I can't thank you and all the others enough for what you have done for me. I can never repay you for what you have done but I'm for ever in your debt," She told Mike.

"You don't owe me anything, sweetie. We were all glad to be able to help you. And I see that you were successful in your trip. Knowing you were able to find Alexis and convince her to come back was worth all the effort," Mike told her.

They got on the road again and headed out on the last leg of the journey. As they approached Ella's home Kayla could tell that Alexis was getting nervous. She reached over taking her hand in hers.

"Don't worry. Ella is going to be ecstatic to see you though she might swat your butt a time or two for running away so expect some consequence."

"It's not Ella I'm worried about."

"Then what are you worried about?"

"While I was gone and searching for answers it wasn't just because of Brian I was searching for answers. I thought a lot about us too. I have never really been in love with anyone before and even my parents, I'm not sure I loved. With you it was different, it seemed so easy. In fact, it was too easy. Because of my trust issues, I began to doubt it was love. Instead I thought it was you drawing me in with some false feeling in order to take advantage of me. I thought you wanted my money or something and were just using me."

"Oh, Alexis. I would never take advantage of you. And I told you I don't need your money. In fact we never really got to talk about this, but now I guess is as good a time as it is ever going to be. Alexis, I am well off. I mean really well off. I don't tell people because I don't want people to think because I have money they can use me. And because of that I would never use anyone else. I don't spend a lot of my money simply because it would let people know I have it and they would always be expecting me to buy things. I guess I have trust issues of my own that I should have talked with you about. I don't tell anyone my wealth so it just seemed natural for me to not say anything to you."

"I didn't know that then but I'm glad you told me. Money doesn't matter to me. What matters is how we feel. And that was what I was searching for answers to while I was gone. I realized how much I did love you and needed you. Now we are close to home and I'm not sure if we will ever be together again and that worries me."

"I love you too, Alexis. Like I told you earlier I hadn't thought this out beyond finding you and bringing you home. We will figure something out. I just know I love you and I don't want to lose you again."

"What about Rose Marie?" I'm sure she will have something to say about this. How does she feel having me back if you two are in love and sleeping together? Is she instantly going to give you up or you give her up because I'm here?"

"I don't know what to say at this point to help because I really don't know what to do."

"How do you think I'm going to feel knowing you are over there making love to her and I'm over here or how is she going to feel knowing we make love?" I don't think any of this is going to work. I'm not sure either Rose Marie or I are the threesome type. I don't think we are into sharing making love to you simply because you can't make up your mind. Maybe it would be better if I visit with Ella and move on and let you and Rose Marie be together."

"No, you can't be serious. I came after you because I love you and missed you. I'm not letting you leave me again. Believe me I am struggling with this too. I love both of you and to ask me who I love more is not an easy task. I don't think making love to either of you is going to answer my dilemma. I just need time to think so I ask for your patience. This isn't like eenie meenie miney mo. I can't wave a wand and make a choice. And, in fact, I'm not choosing one over the other. I'm not sure any of this will be any of our choice but how it feels at the time."

"Do you really think that this is not a choice? No matter whom you choose this is going to hurt someone?"

"My Dad always said hard decisions are hard because we make them hard. He said if it is that hard, then sleep on it and give it time and the decision will become clear and you will see it wasn't hard at all. I think this is one of those times it would be best if none of us makes any decision right now, but sleeps on it and give it time. Then maybe the answer will become clear."

"I hope your dad is right about this."

They pulled up to Ella's house after the long drive. Kayla and Alexis both thanked Big Mike again for all he had done before he and his friend took off on their bikes. Ella had heard the bikes and had come onto the porch seeing Alexis getting out of the car. After Alexis thanked Big Mike she turned to see Ella on the porch crying. She ran onto the porch and hugged her kissing her cheeks.

"I missed you Ella," she said.

Ella put her arms around Alexis and practically took her breath away she squeezed her so hard. "I've been worried sick about you, honey. Why didn't you write more often and let me know you were okay?"

"Because I knew if I did some crazy ass girl would have come looking for me, and I needed time by myself to think things out."

This brought a smile to Ella's face that Alexis could at least see some humor in all of this. "She is a crazy ass girl. But that girl loves you so much and she constantly worried about you the whole time you were gone. There were many nights she was over here crying because she missed you, and she never gave up hope of finding you again."

Kayla walked up carrying Alexis's things and they went into the house. As they turned to go in the door with Alexis leading the way Ella swatted her butt really hard.

"Ouch, what was that for?" Alexis said and reached down to hold and rub her butt.

"That's for running away. You are only sixteen young lady, and in my house you live by my rules. You are grounded and forbidden from running away again. Do you understand?" Ella scolded Alexis but had a smirk on her face at the same time.

"Yes, ma'am. I guess I deserved that," Alexis said smiling back at Ella.

"Yes you did. Now come here I want to hug you again to make sure it's really you and not some dream I'm having," Ella told Alexis holding out her arms for her.

As they hugged, she added, "Besides you can't do things like that to this old bat. It's not good for my health to make me worry so much."

"I hear and I'm really sorry about causing you any pain. I'm back now so you can stop your worrying and get healthy again, okay?"

They stood there and hugged for a while not wanting to let each other go. Kayla had put Alexis's things in the bedroom and while in there she texted Rose Marie they were at Ella's and to come over.

Rose Marie texted back with a big heart emoji.

Ella asked if they had eaten and they both told her not since mid day when they stopped for lunch. They went into the kitchen so Ella could make them something to eat. Alexis asked where her things were. She went into the bedroom and came out with a big seashell, the kind you put your ear up to hear the ocean, mounted on a piece of driftwood with a backing that said "Emerald Coast, the prettiest beach in the U.S."

"Here Ella, I got this for you. I know how you like seashells."

"Oh, honey. It's beautiful. Thank you so much. I know the perfect spot over the fireplace for this. Then when it's cold outside I can look at the seashell and think how warm it is at the beach."

They chatted for awhile before dinner was ready. As they sat down Rose Marie and Jake came into the house. Jake ran as soon as he saw Kayla, jumping into her awaiting arms. Then he went to Ella calling her mamma and of course Ella picked him up and sat him in her lap. Rose Marie followed Jake in and went over to Kayla, ready to give her a hug and a kiss until she remembered Alexis being there. She instead moved around Kayla going up to Alexis hugging her and telling her she was glad she was back.

Alexis pulled her head back while saying thank you to look into Rose Marie's eyes to see if she was being polite and really meant it. It surprised her but what she saw was redness and tears in Rose Marie's eyes. Seeing how her going away really had affected everyone she hugged Rose Marie again and surprised herself by kissing her on the cheek. "Thank you. I really missed you too and I'm glad to be back."

They sat down to eat and throughout dinner Alexis kept looking at Rose Marie. Initially it was out of jealousy as she knew that Rose Marie had taken Kayla's heart from her but as time went on she saw how pretty Rose Marie really was. She also saw a woman who cared not only about Kayla but about Ella and even her. She began to see why Kayla was such a mess loving two people at the same time.

The conversation turned to business. They all wanted to avoid putting Alexis on the spot about what she did while she was gone and what her plans were now. Kayla asked about the building and if anything happened while she was gone.

Rose Marie told her the office furniture had been delivered for hers and Marta's office and the reception area. She had it all arranged and it was beginning to look like a law office.

Kayla not wanting Alexis to feel left out of the conversation told her of the plans for Rose Marie and Marta to partner together as a new law firm. She told her tomorrow she would take her by the building and show her what they were doing and how she might be of help with all of it after they got her back in school.

It got late and Jake had already fallen asleep on Ella's lap in the living room. Rose Marie said she needed to get to bed too and she got up to leave. She went over to Alexis giving her another hug and kissing her on the cheek. She told her how glad she was having her home and she would see her tomorrow. She picked up Jake and with Kayla and Alexis's help got him out to the car. She told them goodbye and left.

"I probably should be going too," Kayla said. "Are you going to be okay here for the night?" She asked Alexis.

"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"

"I mean with me going over to Rose Marie's?"

"Yes, I'm okay with it really. Besides you two need time to yourself. I noticed she never kissed or hugged you tonight. So either she is mad or she is feeling awkward just like I am."

"I hope it's awkward. Alexis, you are handling this much better than I thought you would. Not that I really thought much about it. I'll come over tomorrow morning and take you to the office and bring you up to speed on everything before we start having to make plans for school and such. I'm really happy you are here."

"Me too, though I can't think of a reason why. Who in their right mind would come home to a situation finding the girl she loves is in love with a beautiful woman? Yet she says she still loves her too. Then tells her to wait and it will all work out in the end. It sounds like someone has been reading romance novels too much. Then they created a scenario to inject suspense into the story, then giving the readers something sexy to imagine will happen between them."

"It does sound farfetched when you say it like that. Well we will just have to give the readers something to make them want to read more," Kayla said and put her arms around Alexis. "I do love you Alexis. And I'm glad you are home."

She pulled back from the hug and looking at Alexis before kissing her on the lips. They hugged and kissed with the kisses becoming more passionate before Alexis broke it apart.

"You had better go before this goes too far and I don't let you leave. I'll see you tomorrow."

Kayla got in her car to leave when Alexis stuck her head in the window. "And I love you too," she said and placed her fingers on Kayla's lips.
