For those of you who don't like the technological stuff you can skip this section and go on to chapter three, but for everyone else is this.
In the first chapter I said that the Kulak orcs were left unchecked for 20 years. I meant they were unchecked for 200 years. This is for reasons that will remain to be seen.
Now for the techo bable
Tucan has a unique physical makeup. He is half elf. That alone gives him many abilities that most don't have. For instance: Elf's senses are very strong. They can see, hear, smell, feel, and communicate with motions better than almost every other life form. Also
Elves are very nimble. They can move faster, react faster, and think faster than the average bloke. Another thing is that Elves are immortal. This in it's self is the strongest thing. They heal faster and recover faster from both physical and magical aliments. For instance when Tucan took the spell of Borak in the cave he could withstand the spell better and longer than Borak could.
The other half of Tucan is Human and Orc. The human / Orc Halfling has many things going for him. Extra strength, faster speed, and two magic bases that combine into deadly things are a definite plus. Humans have always claimed intellectual superiority but Orcs have the better weapon mastery.
In conclusion, Tucan has an even more deadly combination. He is as fast as an Elf and strong as an Orc. He has the abilities of the Human and Elf in mental areas. He can combine not only human and Orcish magic but also Elfin magic. His development will be the
hardest thing for me to do but I hope all goes well. In the mental-magic area he has the combination of human empathy and elfin telepathy. This is what combined to make him see Borak's dream. His ability to focus on one single thing to the point that is fills him is unique to the combination of all three human, orc, and elf. The reading nature is an ability that came solely from his elfin background. The delving is an idea I pulled from another story I read long ago. Would have asked the author if I had been able to find the story again. The networking things is unique for me though.
Think if you could take every experience in your life and have your sub-conscience able to work on it in connection with everything else you experience. You could solve much more than you do now. Thats all that is going on here. The "balls" represent one related topic. Like Tucan has one ball for the common language, one for orcish, one for elfish, etc. He also can separate these balls into more so that everything is available to the conscious mind. This makes him learn things faster and retain them longer. I hope that explained every- thing. They are just a mental image of what goes on in his head.
Now I will give you some background. Although some people prefer to think of Orcs
and Elves and Humans and Dwarfs and all that in the future, I prefer to consider them in the past. Another unique thing about my thinking is that the different "forms" like elf and human and orc and fairy is that they all descended from the same basic humanoid. As they expanded over the planet they took on different characteristics and changed to fit the environment. Elves decided to live in the trees and developed lithe bodies that could
move quickly and commune with nature. Orcs became as they were through the living in swampy land and areas of great evil. Dwarfs came from the miners and colonies that were started underground, and so forth.
As they became separated into their individual environments they lost contact with each
other, but they expanded again and then made contact years later with people who had become myth to them. Wars broke out because each thought that they were the strongest of the humanoid. As time went on, people decided on those who would be tolerable and those who wouldn't. Like Dwarfs, they made beautiful things of gold and other metals. They were ok. But Orcs were green and ugly human and especially elves thought. So they were shunned because they didn't to anything useful to humans and likewise with every other species.
Well enough of this, lets get back to the story. I hope this cleared up some stuff for people. If you have any questions or suggestions (non of this is locked in stone) just e- mail me. Alpha_wanderer@hotmail.com
