It was going to be an important night for Mya. It was the night of her 10-year high school reunion and she wanted to look her best. She had no idea what would take place that night, but she knew she wanted to take everyone's breath away with her very appearance. In school, she had been very ugly and awkward, and one of the biggest nerds in the school. Tonight, she wanted to show all her previous classmates how much she had changed. She wanted to show them that the ugly duckling had turned into a swan and couldn't wait to see the expressions on all the faces of those that had teased and taunted her so many years before.
Mya slipped the red dress off the hanger in the closet and held it up to admire it. It was low-cut with spaghetti straps and had a split in the side that went all the way up the leg. Mya slipped into the dress and put on her silk hose. She stood in front of a full length mirror to analyze the dress and how it held her curvy, full figure. She was nervous, no doubt, but wanted to look just right. She headed for the bathroom to fix her hair and apply her makeup. It took her unusually long to get ready, but it would be worth it. After a process that seemed to last forever, Mya stepped gracefully back in front of the full length mirror to take one last look and see if anything was out of place. Staring back at her from the mirror was a woman that she swore many years back ago she could never be. She smiled a nervous, yet appreciative smile and went to locate her leather high heels. She slipped on her high heels, grabbed her small pocket book, threw on her dress coat and was off.
All the way to the reunion, all Mya could think about was who she would see and what they would say in reaction to the new image that was her. It seemed to take hours for a trip that only lasted a few minutes. Finally, Mya arrived at the reception hall where the reunion was taking place. After parking the car, she got out, took a deep breath and began walking to the inevitable moment that she had been anticipating for so long. She walked into the reception hall and signed the registration book. "There's no stopping now" she thought to herself and slowly walked into the room where all her previous classmates were chatting away and getting reacquainted.
Mya looked around the room and found some friends that she had kept in touch with off and on throughout the years. She found her way over to their table to greet them.
"Hello, Heather.", Mya cheerfully greeted.
"Hello. I'm sorry, but do I know you?" Heather questioned.
"It's Mya, Mya Santigo."
"Mya? Oh my God! You're kidding?!? I would never have recognized you!", Heather exclaimed. "You look amazing! Why don't you sit here with us?"
Mya was elated at the response and sat with her friends. The evening went by quickly. One person after another came up to Mya to inquire as to who she was and was aghast at the lovely swan that stood before them. At one point during the night, something happened that Mya didn't expect. She was chatting with another classmate, when she felt a tap on her shoulder. Mya excused herself politely from the conversation she was having and turned to see who was requesting her attention. Once she turned around, she saw a breathtakingly beautiful woman standing in front of her. The face of the woman was familiar, but she couldn't come up with the woman's name. The woman smiled very warmly at Mya and pulled her into a hug.
"Mya! I had hoped you would come!"
"Oh my God!", Mya breathed, "Alexis McConough!"
"I have thought and wondered about you for so long, but had no idea how to find you." Alexis continued. "It's getting late and the reunion is almost over. Would you like to go somewhere and catch up?"
"I'd love to!" Mya excitedly answered.
Alexis McConough was one of the most popular girls in high school. Mya had always admired Alexis and thought she was one of the most beautiful women she had ever seen. She had wanted to talk to Alexis in high school, but knew that Alexis was in a different group and would never be seen talking to such a person as Mya was back then. Mya was excited, not only because Alexis had approached her for a social occasion, but also because Mya had never stopped thinking and wondering about Alexis since they had graduated high school.
Alexis and Mya went to a coffee shop that was open all night. They sat and reminisced about high school and all the memories they had of the ridiculous things that went on there. Mya told Alexis about her life for the past ten years and all the things she had been through. Alexis told Mya about college and the wonderful career that she had begun. She continued about her marriage to a wealthy businessman and that, after only 3 years, it had failed miserably. When Mya questioned Alexis as to why the marriage had ended, Alexis seemed to get a little nervous and simply stated that her ex-husband wasn't what she was looking for as she thought he was. It started to get late, and Mya was beginning to tell Alexis that she needed to be getting back home.
"Would you, by any chance, like to come to my house and continue our discussion there?", Alexis queried.
Mya didn't want this night, and, more specifically, her time with Alexis to end. So, she agreed. They headed back to Alexis's house and continued chatting endlessly the entire way about their lives for the last ten years. Once they got to Alexis's and got inside, Mya began to blush as Alexis looked at her and said, "You are so beautiful. You have truly grown so much in ten years. I never got the chance to talk to you much in high school, but I always noticed you."
Mya was taken aback that Alexis, the most popular girl in school had noticed her in school when she was the most forgotten student in the class. She blushed a bright red and looked at Alexis. Alexis was staring directly into her eyes. There was a look on Alexis's face that shocked Mya more than words could express. Alexis was looking at Mya with appreciation and with what almost looked like a hidden interest. Mya looked at Alexis and realized for the first time what she felt for Alexis. It had only been recently that Mya had realized that she was a lesbian and she now realized that she had a love for Alexis from afar that even she didn't know what it was. She looked at Alexis deep in the eyes and began to speak words she never thought she would get the chance to say to this beautiful, feminine woman.
"You know, Alexis, I noticed you in high school too. I didn't dare speak to you because I knew you were out of my league." Mya could feel her breath leave her. She was scared about what she was saying to Alexis. Would it ruin the night? Or would it make it better? She didn't know what was going to happen, but she knew that she would feel better if Alexis knew what she had discovered. She knew that it would bring her a peace to finally say what has been in her heart for more than ten years.
"I wish you had spoke to me. I was afraid to speak to you because I didn't know how you would react." Alexis revealed. Alexis now began to walk towards Mya slowly, but deliberately. Alexis came so close to Mya that the their breasts were almost touching. Alexis took a deep breath and began to reveal her innermost secrets.
"I need to tell you something, Mya. The reason that my ex-husband wasn't what I thought I was looking for is because I realized in the middle of it that I am a lesbian." Mya's breathe caught in her throat as Alexis continued. "I feel that I need to tell you this because there is something else I haven't told you. I have thought about you for all these ten years because I have loved you that long. I didn't realize it until I finally realized who I was. Every time I saw you in the hallway at school, I might not have spoken to you, but I saw you. I saw your eyes and they showed me the kindness and love in your heart. They showed me the pain you had in your life, but they also showed the amazing strength you had to deal with it. I admired you so much and I couldn't help but love you. I just didn't realize that's what it was."
Mya was now so shocked that she didn't know what to say. She couldn't believe this was coming out of Alexis's mouth. All she could do was stand there. Alexis looked at Mya and caressed Mya's face with her hand. Mya responded by closing her eyes and enjoying the feel of Alexis's soft touch. As if it was an automatic reflex, Mya reached up and caressed Alexis's arm lovingly. Somehow, out of everything she had in her, Mya managed to breathe just a few words to convey how she felt "I am also a lesbian, Alexis, and I have felt the same way about you."
At hearing this, Alexis wrapped her arms around Mya and pulled her into a warm, loving hug. Alexis's hands caressed Mya's back. Alexis looked Mya deeply in the eyes, leaned forward, and kissed Mya softly. Alexis's tongue licked Mya's lips, pleading with Mya to open her mouth and let her tongue in. Mya obliged and, soon, their tongues were caressing and exploring each other's mouth. It was a long kiss and the women's bodies melted into each other as the heat of their bodies rose. Finally the kiss broke long enough for Alexis to pull away and reach for Mya's hand and say the words Mya wanted so much to hear.
"Mya, I want so much to make love to you. Will you come to the bedroom with me?"
Mya nodded and took Alexis's hand. As they slowly made their way to the bedroom, all Mya could think was how this would be a reunion she would never forget.
