Angel in black, Chapter 10

Awakening

"Alex?" Marcos asked, unsure that he actually had heard Alex speak.

Slowly opening his eyes, Alex tried to sit up but couldn't; he was still weak. "Take it easy Alex; you have been out for a few days," Marcos said.

In a voice barely above a whisper, Alex said, "I know Matthew; I've sensed everything that's been happening... well most of it."

"So you were in there," Marcos said smiling.

"It was miserable; there was nothing. No sound, no light, nothing. I thought I was going crazy... but then there was you; I could hear your voice as you spoke and as you sang to me," Alex said, misty eyed.

Squeezing Alex's hand slightly, Marcos said, "I'm sorry I wasn't here Alex. I didn't know anyone was following me; when I got to my house they were there waiting for me. If I were anyone else, I doubt I would still be here now."

Alex was about to ask what had happened when he caught Marcos' gaze. As soon as he did he saw - no, he lived - what Marcos had. From seeing the front door ajar to searching the house, he saw and felt everything Marcos had.

When he saw the were-thylacine, he felt the rage Marcos did and his fangs extended, sending sharp pains through his gums, but Alex didn't break eye contact. He wanted to see what happened. He watched through Marcos' eyes as he beheaded the were-thylacine assassin and set the body ablaze, then drained the human and left the bodies and the house to burn.

Alex watched as Marcos ran from the rapidly burning house towards his family, not knowing what awaited him, feeling both angry and afraid of who or what might be there. Alex saw the vampire that had killed him standing at the door as it opened and Tommy was suddenly pushed out of the way. "THAT WAS A MISTAKE!" he felt Marcos say; then the vampire in front of him turned to ash and disintegrated.

Alex was shocked at the sight of himself standing with a sword imbedded in his chest; finally he blinked and broke eye contact, returning to his own thoughts. He brought his hand up to the scar on his chest, feeling the rough section of skin, and licked his tongue over his receding fangs as he calmed down.

"That will never heal Alex. I still have mine from when I was turned," Marcos said, showing Alex the scar on his stomach.

"What happened to you? Why were you turned?" Alex asked.

"I was living on the streets of Sydney after my family was killed, and I was told I was to be sent to an orphanage. I was fourteen when I ran away. I lived on the streets for years stealing food to live and just trying to keep warm at night. I managed to live like that until I was nineteen. Then, one night, I went to sleep, and the next time I woke up I was like this," Marcos explained.

"You never found the person who turned you into a vampire?" Alex asked.

"No never. I have often wondered who, but it was most likely some crazed vampire who felt sorry for me and didn't want to feel guilty over killing a kid or something," Marcos said.

"I'm sure there is more to it than that... Have you ever tried to find out?" Alex said.

"I tried, but kept running into dead ends. There weren't too many records of random turnings in those days; the Council was still trying to sort out the state of things in this country. If it wasn't for Consul Larson, there would probably be rogue vampires, feral were-wolves and everything else still running around killing at will, and I most likely would have been one of them," Marcos said sadly.

"I'm sure someone knows something. I want to help you, Matthew, but I'm still so tired! If its okay with you, I'm going to sleep some more," Alex didn't even give Marcos time to say anything before he passed out.

Marcos lay down beside Alex, not wanting to leave him. Mentally he told Calvin to inform the rest of the family that Alex was revived, then he too drifted off to sleep.

Alex woke with a start a short time later to the sound of someone screaming; he looked to his side, where Marcos was still sleeping, and realised that there wasn't actually any audible noise at all. The scream Alex had heard was in the turbulent thoughts of the dream Marcos was having.

He looked again at Marcos. Closing his eyes, Alex could see the dream: the last time Marcos saw his family alive - he was still Matthew to everyone then - enjoying breakfast with his parents and brothers, getting ready for a day of fun and exploring with his friends.

Matthew finished his breakfast and said goodbye to everyone, hurrying off to meet his friends to go explore the new buildings in the city. As he was opening the door to leave, Jayson, one of his little brothers came running at him. "Matthew, can I go exploring with you today?" Jayson asked.

"Not today, Jay, you have to stay here with mother and father and Marcos! I won't be out too long; then we can go exploring together, just you and me," Matthew said.

"Really, you promise?" Jayson asked excited.

"I promise, Jay, when I get back you and I will go explore the creek and the caves," Matthew said, then waved goodbye to his brother and took off out the door.

Matthew and his friends had a good morning wandering through the half-built buildings and walking the unfinished streets of the outer slums of Sydney. The rapidly expanding city was wondrous to the teenage boy and his friends; they spent hours on the weekends exploring where ever they could, sometimes getting into a little too much trouble.

It was a little after noon, and Matthew was starting to feel hungry, so he decided to head home. Besides he had a promise to keep. It took Matthew a little while to make the journey back home; he had managed to go a fair distance in a short time on foot, the muscles in his legs and feet already burning from the exertion.

His house now in sight, Matthew ran the short distance to the front door, ignoring his sore legs. He stopped suddenly when he saw the front door hanging loosely on its hinges; as he got closer to the door he noticed a strong smell of blood. Carefully pushing the door open, he was unprepared for the sight that met his eyes.

The bodies of Matthew's family were thrown around the living area of the house, nothing recognisable as any one person. The first thing Matthew did was vomit from the sight and smells before him. Hearing a faint groan from somewhere beside him Matthew turned to see Jayson reaching a bloodied arm out to him, the body of their brother, Jayson's twin Marcos, laying across him.

"HELP!" Matthew screamed as he stumbled to his brother. Matthew tried to listen for Marcos' breathing, but hearing nothing he carefully moved the body. Holding Jayson in his arms, Matthew tried to help him to his feet but noticed that he was missing a leg. "I'm here, Jay, I'm here! Who did this?" Matthew asked through tears.

"Matthew, it hurts so much. Monsters... they looked like those tigers from Tasmania. Please, Matthew, don't leave me," Jayson managed in a pained breath.

"I'm not going anywhere, Jay... I'm staying right here," Matthew cried. "Jay, I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise!"

Managing a weak smile Jayson said, "I love you brother," and closed his eyes.

"Jayson... no!" Matthew wailed.

Alex couldn't stand anymore, but, instead of breaking his connection, he focused harder making himself part of the nightmare. "Matthew," he said softly as he placed a hand on the teen's shoulder.

"W...who... are y... you?" Matthew sobbed, still holding his brothers body.

"I'm Alex, you know me. Please take my hand, Matthew," Alex said extending his hand to the teen. "You can't live here anymore."

Matthew took Alex's hand, and the scene of the massacre faded into a bright white light then back to normal. Only their location changed; they were now sitting by a creek on a rock just big enough for the two of them. "Is this where you were going to bring Jayson?" Alex asked.

"Yeah, and the cave is just down there a ways," Matthew said pointing down stream. "He loved it when I brought him here, though it would have been his first time to the cave."

Alex gazed into Matthew's green eyes. "It wasn't your fault; if you had been home you would have died too," Alex said soothingly.

"But I might have been able to do something," Matthew said, his eyes red and sore from crying.

"You would have died, you know that! It's been ninety years since you lost them, Matthew. It's time to let go and move on," Alex said as he used his ability to awaken the fourteen year old Matthew to his older self's memories as they talked.

"Marcos... I started using his name after I was turned; only James knew my real name," Matthew said.

"You loved your brothers very much, but you were closer to Jayson than you were Marcos," Alex said.

"They were twins, but I was always closer to Jay. He and I were inseparable," Matthew said, smiling at the happy memories of him and his brother.

"You can't keep blaming your self for the tragedy. You survived and will always carry them in your heart," Alex said, smiling back at Matthew.

Matthew leaned into Alex, resting his head on Alex's shoulder. "I don't know how you were able to do this Alex, but thank you. I have been having that same nightmare every time I have slept for the last hundred years. Maybe now I can let it rest," Matthew said, still crying but also smiling.

Alex looked around; the spot they were in was beautiful. The creek was just a trickle of water surrounded by green trees, grass and the odd wild animal roaming around. Alex found it relaxing, and, for a moment, he forgot it was someone else's dream.

Again becoming aware of his real world surroundings, Alex decided to let Matthew rest for a little while. "Matthew, I'm going to leave you to rest now, but don't worry! I'll still be by your side," Alex said as he looked Matthew in the eye.

"Isn't that supposed to be my line?" Matthew said grinning at Alex. "I will see you again soon," he said with a bright smile.

Alex left Matthew to his dream, breaking his contact with Matthew's mind. Opening his eyes once again, Alex looked at the now peacefully sleeping form of his love, who now had a slight smile on his lips. "Sweet dreams, Matthew," he said softly.

"I hope you were able to help him. He has been carrying that guilt for a long time," Calvin said quietly.

Alex looked up to see Calvin standing in the doorway. "He went through so much before he was turned. He's lived with survivor's guilt for all these years," Alex explained.

"I tried to help him in the past, but he wouldn't let me, so I gave up trying," Calvin said sadly.

"You weren't there, Calvin; you didn't see what he went through! I just relived it with him," Alex said.

"I only knew about the guilt, I had no idea what it was from," Calvin said, a little surprised at Alex's statement.

"I think he's going to be alright from now on," Alex said as he moved to get up off of his bed.

"Ah... I think I'll go find Tommy," Calvin awkwardly said.

"What's wrong?" Alex started to ask as he looked down at himself. Realising he was naked, he blushed a pale shade of red. "Umm... sorry I didn't realise I was naked," Alex said as he tried to cover himself.

"Don't worry about it; you're not the first guy I have seen naked. Not bad to look at too," Calvin winked as he left the room.

Without even thinking about it, Alex used his telekinetic ability to open the drawer and retrieve a pair of underwear. He grabbed them out of the air as they floated near his hand and put them on. Then he grabbed a towel and headed for the shower.

"Jackson, are you sure you want to do this?" the man asked.

"Don't question me! Marcos has been a thorn in my paw for too damn long. He has enough evidence to have the Council send all of us to a very dark place for a long time," Jackson growled.

"Yes sir... I just meant that we are going after one vampire! Why are we taking a whole team?" The man asked again starting to worry.

"Idiot! Did you actually read the file I gave you?" Jackson said, getting angrier at his man by the second. "He was trained as an assassin by the Consul himself! This guy took out two dozen of my men, including my brother. No! He dies, and if anyone gets in the way, take them out too," he growled.

"Yes, sir!" the man said.

"Now get out of my sight! We leave at sunset; I need my vampires at full strength," Jackson said, looking out the window towards the rapidly lowering sun.

Waking up sometime later, Marcos noticed Alex wasn't beside him anymore. He started to panic just a little - not for Alex, but for his family. Marcos knew Alex wouldn't have the self control to keep himself from attacking his family.

Quickly getting up off the bed, he went looking for Alex. He found Alex standing in a towel by the front door; apparently no one else had noticed him yet. "Alex?" Marcos asked.

"Can you smell that?" Alex asked.

"Smell what Alex?" Marcos asked.

Alex looked down at his feet and said, "The blood.... I can smell it at my feet."

"You died here," Marcos said as he took Alex's hand.

Alex looked up into the eyes of his protector and gently took his other hand, then kissed him on the lips. "I know Matthew; I was just fascinated by the scent," he said, breaking the kiss.

"That was...." Somehow this kiss seemed different to Marcos, but it felt right. "Amazing," he said as he kissed Alex again.

'Matthew, stop please?' Alex thought, trying to break the kiss. 'I'm only in a towel here!'

"Sorry," Marcos grinned as he moved back a little. "But you look nice in that towel," Marcos added, winking.

"Calvin said I looked good out of it too," Alex said, grinning, as he walked back into his room to get dressed.

"Calvin? Wait...WHAT?" Marcos called as he followed Alex back into the bedroom.

"Calvin, was that Alex?" Tommy asked.

"Yeah, he's been awake for a while now," Calvin said.

"Why didn't you say anything?" Tommy asked.

"He just woke up; he still needs a lot of rest that I doubt he's going to get today... and I don't want him to hurt you by accident," Calvin said, showing concern for Tommy.

"Why would Alex hurt me?" Tommy asked confused.

"He's a newly sired vampire. I know he wouldn't hurt you on purpose, but believe me, it's not easy to control the urge to feed. It's just as hard not to get lost in the individual scents of each person's blood," Calvin said as he took a long breath in.

"Well, I trust Alex," Tommy said, seeing the strange look on Calvin's face. "Okay, now I'm curious! How do I smell?" he asked.

"Like a wolf?" Calvin joked, at which Tommy gently punched his shoulder.

Laughing, Tommy rolled his eyes and said, "Funny."

Taking another long deep breath, Calvin thought for a moment, "You smell strong and earthy, a bit like a pine tree in a forest with a hit of something sweet," he said, getting aroused by the scent.

Noticing the subtle change in the scent coming from Calvin, Tommy moved closer on the couch, putting his hand on Calvin's leg and gently rubbing his thigh. "I think you like it, Calvin," Tommy said, moving to kiss him.

"I do like it... like you," Calvin smiled.

Waiting for Marcos to follow him into the bedroom, Alex stood with his back to the doorway.

Marcos walked in looking confused. "What do you mean Calvin said you looked good out of the towel?" he asked.

"He was standing at the door when I woke up," Alex said turning to face Marcos. "Like me, he felt your pain from the nightmare you were having. After I left your dream to let you rest I decided to get up and have a shower. When I got up, I didn't realise I was naked," Alex finished blushing slightly.

"So that was real then? You really were in my dream with me, you saw my family?" Marcos said tearing up.

Putting a hand on Marcos' jaw, Alex said, "It happened Matthew; I saw everything." Stroking his cheek, Alex continued, "You can't live in the past anymore Matthew! You feel guilty for not being there, but you couldn't have done anything to help them. You need to let go, and you should start by letting your brother rest..."

"How can I let them rest?" Marcos asked confused.

"Not them Matthew... You will always carry the memories of them. I meant Marcos; as long as you use his name, you can't let the past go," Alex said, turning and leading Matthew to the bed. When Alex thought about closing the door it closed on its own, when he looked up from the bed it was closed, he thought Matthew had closed it.

"I was never as close to him. I wanted something to keep his memory alive. I thought by using his name I would feel closer to him," Marcos said crying.

"But it holds you to the past, always in that moment. You feel guilty for the time you didn't share with Marcos and for not getting the chance to say goodbye as you did with Jayson," Alex said, trying to comfort him.

"Yes, I never got a chance to say goodbye to any of them," Marcos said sobbing.

"Then tell them now! I'm sure where ever they are they can hear you," Alex told him.

Looking at Alex, Matthew closed his eyes and said, "Mum, dad, Marcos, Jayson, I'm sorry I wasn't there with you all. And I'm sorry I never said goodbye properly. I love you all, and I miss you," he said feeling the weight lift from his heart.

Alex didn't say anything further; he just held Matthew as he cried some more. The two of them stayed like this for a while, until Matthew calmed down. All the while, Alex could feel something at the edge of his conscious range.

Just a few houses down from the Davies home, Consul Larson, his aide Leon, and Lt. Tyson Smith were discussing their plan. "I still say we go down to the house and wait in ambush. I can cast a spell on the three of us and make us undetectable," Tyson said.

"Sir, I think we should join Calvin and the others in the house, strength in numbers and all," Leon added.

"No. We will wait until I get an all clear from either Marcos or Calvin. Until then, we hold back and secure the street. Leon I want you two houses down on the opposite side of the Davies house. I will stay here and secure this end. Smith, as you are the most proficient with invisibility spells, I want you to watch the house from across the street, and no heroics. Understood?" James said.

Both replied, "Yes sir!" and moved off to their ordered locations.

The sun was just starting to set; James knew if Jackson and his team had vampires he would want them at full strength and just after sunset would be the perfect time to strike. Chanting the words to an invisibility spell he learned from a friend, James quickly became invisible and leaned against a tall gumtree waiting.

Calvin was suddenly disrupted from his light making-out with Tommy when he got a text message on his cell, which read:

From: Consul Larson. To: Calvin Walker. Street secure. Leon, Lt. Smith and myself awaiting all clear from you or Marcos. No sign of Jackson yet, but expect him soon.

"Damn! And I was really enjoying this too," he said looking at Tommy. "Looks like company's coming," he added, kissing Tommy, then got up to tell Marcos.

Tommy followed Calvin to the bedroom door. As he passed the front door he noticed a scent he hadn't before; it made him nervous.

Seeing the bedroom door was shut, Calvin was about to knock when Alex sent him a message mentally: 'I know about the message from the Consul; Matthew and I are having a moment. Please tell Tommy that it's Lt. Smith just outside the front door that's got him on edge.' With that Calvin turned to see a nervous Tommy watching the door like a guard dog sensing trouble.

"There's someone there Calvin, I can smell him," Tommy said in a low growl.

Gently taking Tommy's hand in an attempt to calm him Calvin said, "Yes, it's Lt. Smith. Remember the man your dad trained with?"

"It is? Then why doesn't he come in?" Tommy said still nervous.

"He's no doubt got orders to watch the house, but I don't think he should be so close," Calvin said then moved to open the door.

"Calvin," Tommy growled as he moved with Calvin.

Opening the door, Calvin looked around and saw no one. "Lt. Smith, we know you're there! Please come inside, as you're making Tommy nervous," he said, then felt something brush past him carefully, and he watched as Tommy followed the scent. Closing the door, Calvin turned to face what Tommy was now watching.

"How did you know I was there?" Tyson asked, becoming visible.

"Well, I just received a text message from the Consul, but he didn't say where you were, and we have a telepath here who sensed you." Then, looking proudly at Tommy, who was still a little edgy, Calvin said, "And Tommy here caught your scent when he passed the door."

"Telepath? I know you vampires can sense thoughts, but I'm trained in blocking telepathy," Tyson said.

'Not from me, Tyson,' Alex thought to Tyson.

"Who was that?" Tyson asked.

"Sweet sounding teenage voice?" Calvin asked and Lt. Smith nodded, "That was Alex, a newly risen vampire."

"Newly risen? Impossible!" Tyson said in disbelief. "And how could a human catch my scent?" he added, finding it all a little hard to believe.

Coming out of the bedroom Matthew said "I'll answer that. First, Tommy is part werewolf, so he's got heightened senses, hearing, sight and smell."

Looking at Tommy, Tyson thought he could see something slightly wild about the look in the young mans eyes. "And the second? How can a newly risen vampire read anyone's, never mind my, thoughts?" Tyson asked, being a little too short with Matthew.

Feeling Matthew starting to get annoyed with Tyson, Alex spoke, "I was telepathic before I was turned, I've been able to hear other people's thoughts since late primary school."

Calming down a little, remembering that they were expecting an attack at anytime, Tyson said, "I guess that explains it. Being a telepath for so long when you were turned your natural ability was enhanced."

"Why were you at the door lieutenant? I'm sure you were ordered to watch the front of the house. Not guard the door," Calvin said.

"He was ordered to watch from across the street, and no heroics," Alex said as he stared at the lieutenant.

"Damn telepaths! Yes I was ordered to watch from across the street, but I can't just sit back and watch," Tyson said.

"I can understand that," Calvin said, looking around. He thought he should introduce the lieutenant to everyone. "Lt. Tyson Smith, this is Tommy Davies and that is his younger brother Alex, and that is Marcos, the ex-council intelligence operative," he said.

"Cal, I'm sorry but I have to correct you," Matthew said. Extending his hand for Smith to shake, he introduced himself, "Matthew Jameson."

Everyone but Alex was confused. "What's going on?" Tommy asked first.

"I was born Matthew Jameson, and its time I stopped trying to hold on to the past," Matthew said. 'I'll explain later,' he thought to Tommy.

Noticing the guilt Marc carried was greatly diminished Calvin didn't argue. Instead he said with a laugh, "Nice to finally meet you, Matthew."

Matthew smiled at his oldest friend and said, "Calvin Walker, you're an ass!" and they were both laughing.

"Tyson," Calvin started, still laughing, "as you are here you might as well lend us your skills. Tommy, could you take him to the back yard, please?" Tommy nodded and led Lt. Smith out the back door.

Tommy led Lt. Smith out into the back yard and over to where Bill and Marie were sitting, looking out over the garden. "Mum, dad, look what I found," Tommy said as he stood beside the bench his parents were sitting on.

As the pair turned to see what Tommy was talking about, Bill almost yelled, "TY!" when he saw his old friend.

"Wild Bill Davies! It's so good to see you again," Tyson said as he tightly gripped Bills hand, shaking it.

"It's been too long! Marie, this is Tyson Smith. He and I worked together in the army," Bill said as he introduced Tyson to his wife.

"Nice to meet you Tyson, I've heard nothing about you," Marie laughed as she too shook the man's hand.

"Ty, listen, I hear from Calvin that we have you to thank for Marcos still being here today?" Bill asked.

"Matthew," Tommy said correcting Bill.

"What?" Bill asked.

"He's not using that name now. He's using his real name, which is Matthew. He said he would explain later," Tommy explained.

"Ah, well either way, I think we owe Ty some thanks," Bill said.

"Don't thank me. When I was ordered to track down Marcos, I didn't know who he was. All I was told was that he was a rogue and need to be put down. When I finally found him, I caught him lurking around your home; I thought at first that he was going to attack. I followed him for several days and learned that every night he would come here and watch the house, then return to his own place in the morning. I realised that he was protecting the family living here. Imagine my shock when I looked into who that family was and found my old mate. When I looked into why he would be doing something like that and found Alex's past and that it was Marcos who had called the police and brought the child back to you, I immediately went back to the Consul and informed him of my findings," Tyson explained.

"And you had a rather loud argument with the Consul, and he reassigned you to work for him," Bill said.

"Damn Calvin! Bloody know it all. Yeah, when I told the Consul who I was sent after, he was more than a little upset. He didn't give the order, and he had no knowledge of where Marcos was at the time. He ordered me to find out who had given the order and also to keep tabs on Marcos. I did that until the Consul made contact with Marcos after all that nasty business with Tommy's late father," Tyson explained.

"Well, I'm still glad you didn't follow through with that order, and it's good to see you again," Bill said smiling.

"Alex, how are you coping?" Calvin asked.

"Fine... My abilities are not that different than they were before, I just feel like I have more control over them," Alex said, completely missing the meaning of Calvin's question.

"He meant with not eating your friends and family," Matthew said.

"Oh... It's not easy, but I haven't been around anyone by myself yet, and I have some training I borrowed from Matthew," Alex said.

"Training? I haven't given you any training yet," Matthew said confused.

"I'm sorry, Matthew, I used the memories from your training," Alex said, feeling a little ashamed at himself for invading Matthew's privacy.

"Don't feel like that Alex," Matthew said as he put his hands on Alex's shoulders. "I'm glad you did that; it means I won't have to start from the beginning when I do start training you," Matthew smiled.

Smiling back at Matthew, Alex suddenly froze, then whispered, "They are almost here."

"Calvin. Get Tommy and Bill NOW!" Matthew ordered as the three of them quickly walked out the back door. "I am going to need my blades," Matthew said, thinking aloud, as they stepped out into the yard.

Alex looked over to where Matthew had left his hunting knives and his short sword; instantly they started floating towards him. "Wow!" Alex said, seeing this power for the first time.

Matthew watched as his usual weapons came floating towards him and Alex. "I think your telepathy wasn't all that was enhanced, Alex," Matthew said, taking his knives and sword as they hovered in front of him.

"That's so cool," Alex said.

"Marc... I mean Matthew, what do you want to do?" Calvin asked, coming to stand with Matthew and Alex, Tommy, Bill, Tyson and Marie following him.

"They only want me, and I think I should greet them," Matthew said.

"That's crazy!" Tyson said.

"Ty, you always were a hot head. I'm sure he has something in mind," Bill said laughing at Tyson.

With a mischievous grin Matthew said, "I do, Bill!" Looking at Alex he thought, 'Alex this is what I want you to do...'

James watched the black van drive slowly towards him and the Davies house; he could feel the multitude of emotions coming from the occupants as it passed him. Only one of the van's occupants didn't feel nervous or anxious about what they were about to do, and James knew who that person was. He took out his cell and texted Calvin that they were there.

"Marie, go with Alex into the bedroom please; he will keep you safe," Matthew said as he took his pistol out of its box, loaded it and put it into its holster under his coat.

"What the hell is that thing?" Tyson asked looking at the size of the weapon.

"Just a surprise for our guests," Calvin said with a smirk.

"Bill, you and Tyson will pair up, and Cal, you're with Tommy. Stay together, this isn't a game," Matthew directed.

"What about you, Cousin Marky?" Tommy said, realising it wasn't actually Matthew's name. "I'm sorry, it's going to take me some time to get use to calling you Matthew," Tommy said.

"It's alright, Tommy, I understand. It's probably going to take me sometime to get used to it too. I've been using my brother's name for ninety years; it's a lot to get used to," Matthew said.

"Did I miss something? He called you Cousin," Tyson said, again confused.

"Tommy is Matthew's last living blood relative," Bill said by way of an explanation.

"Yes Bill. And to answer your question, Tommy, I will be fine defending myself," Matthew said.

Calvin's cell 'beeped' indicating he received a text message; everyone stopped and looked at him. Taking his phone out of his pocket and reading the message, he said, "That was Consul Larson. They are here."

The black van pulled up outside the Davies house. Jackson looking at the place through the window thought, 'Nice house... Too bad!'

"Sir, ready to move on your order," said the only other were-thylacine in the van.

"Alright, I don't care who is in that place. Anyone who gets between me and Marcos is dead! That includes all of you," Jackson said, earning a few worried glances from most of his men. 'I'm going to get my revenge on Marcos for killing my brother,' Jackson thought as he said, "Let's go!"
