I flopped down on my bed, exhausted. Mentally, I mean. School really takes it out of me. It takes me a few minutes each day after I get home every day to shrug off the intense boredom and start thinking properly again. Plus, mondays are always the worst. I have Advanced Math classes immediatly after school, and I usually don't bring food. So by the end of the day I'm exhausted and starving. I usually pick up something to eat on the way, then eat it in the car trip home, when I'm stuck in the 5'o'clock traffic, and then collapse in a borderline coma on my bed once I'm home. Like I said, Mondays are hell for me, at the best of times. And this one had been especially annoying and tiring.
There were two more tests after English - Math and Science. Man alive, did those those teachers lay it on thick. Plus, Math and Science were my strong points, even more so than English, so I was pretty much bored throughout the whole of the rest of the day. Advanced Math was horrible, for much more than the usual reasons. We were doing revision, and I usually picked up on the stuff we learnt the first time round. So me, Angela and Sue had pretty much been wasting uor time there today. Angela had pulled out some obscure piece of homework - not even sure it was really even homework. I didn't have any, and even if she did from one of her other subjects, she normally would have finished it much sooner. I guess she has a never ending supply. Sue was paying rapt attention to everyones questions to the teacher - desperate not to miss the slightest scrap of mathematical knowledge. I had pulled out my book, and was attempting to read while still looking like I cared about Math. It wasn't an exciting book that I was reading, so I basically just spent most of the lesson trying not to fall asleep. Slightly unsuccesfully, I might add. I had dozed and snapped awake again every time my head began to droop.
The traffic on the way back was also awful. I always get stuck with all the Nine-to-Fivers coming back from work. My house and school are just both inconveniently located, I guess, that all the traffic from the city just happens to wind up on the only road between them. I got home and stumbled up the stairs and into my room like a zombie.
I burried my face in my pillow and groaned. I also kind of slipped into a light doze. I do that alot. When the sleep situation is really bad, I sometimes drift off - as good a way to waste an afternoon as any. But, luckily or not, today I was not that tired. I usually go to bed at the same time - very late, actually, usually about twelve. But some nights are better than others, quality wise, and that makes the difference whether I'm exhuasted or not. Last night I settled down half and hour early, and it was pouring with rain, being the rainy season down here and all. When it rains I pass out like a newborn. Something about the way the water hits the pool is just so......... soothing. But anyway, I wasn't tired. Not now, in any case. Guess I had dozed enough in school.
In a few minutes I would get up and go do something. I still had about an hour to kill before dinner. I would read, maybe. Or swim, if the water was warm enough. I thought about the beach - I could see it through my window. I had a beautiful view from the windows opposite the pool. I could see down the hill that our house was built on, and the street below surrounded by the lush gardens of our neighborhood, then across the promanade next to the beach, and the beach itself. I had a look on my way in. The weather was great, a few clouds coming in, but still generally sunny, and the sea looked beautiful today. So calm and blue.
But I decided against it. I never walk on the beach. When I first moved here, I thought I would do it every day. For a long time I did, but after a while it just got boring. I just thought when I walked alone along the beach, and I could do that anywhere. I lay there on my bed considering my options.
I jumped when I heard a noise and felt some kind of vibration. It was my phone. I put it on vibrate during school, since the teachers didn't quite like their classes being interupted by my annoying ring tone. Wierd how they were like that.
I had emptyed my pockets on the bed when I flopped down, so it was right there next to me. I grabbed it and brought it up so I could see who was calling me. Hmmmmmm. It was just a number, one I didn't recognise. I sighed. If it was another wrong number I would scream at the person. I know that sounds wierd, but I get a lot of that. Someone out there must have a similar number and keeps making mistakes when they give it out or something. I braced myself, and answered.
It was definitely not a wrong number.
"Hey, Jason. It's Eric..." Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh my god! Okay, I was a bit ridiculously excited, but at least it was a decent reason. Time to play it cool. As cool as I could....
"HEY!" I practically screamed. I cringed the second after it left my lips. "How are you?" I quickly added, at a more human decible level.
"I'm good." His voice hinted at a little chuckle. "You?"
"Well, you know, good, considering I just got back from school. I'm still shaking off hours of boredom." I smiled, way to nervous, laughing a bit at my own lame joke.
"Sounds cool. I actually also just got home." He said. I bit my lip. He had such a sexy voice. I wanted him here, now, so I could do some very un-church-recommended things to him. I know I'm a virgin, but that's never stopped my imagination.
"Do you want to come over?" I said, hoping I didn't sound over-eager.
"Look out your window," He said. I could practically hear him smirking.
"You're not-?" I began, hopping up and running to my window, looking down at the beach.
"I am." He laughed. I saw him standing there, at the top of that little flight of stairs that lead down to the beach. He had a huge smile on his face and was waving at me. "Come down. Now."
"Yes sir." I said, with a fair amount of ironyin my voice. He laughed. I put down my phone and hurridly changed out of school uniform into a T-shirt and a pair of board shorts. I considered shoes, but I thought I'd just quickly run across the street barefoot. I practically flew down the stairs and quickly crossed the street, running through the little pathway that lead between two of my neighbors houses. I saw him leaning against the railing and I slowly walked across the promonade to him.
"Hey," he said looking me up and down. I felt a little self concious at this, but he seemed to find me satisfactory, because he looked up and smiled broadly at me.
"Hey," I said, in a voice that felt too high, too loud and too breathless at the same time. I really needed to chill.
"Let's walk." He nodded his head in the direction of the beach. "I'll buy you an ice-cream." He winked at me.
"Oooh, trying to 'woo' me with romantic foods now are we?" I laughed, a bit relieved now that could be sarcastic with him, and started down the steps.
"Something like that." He said with a smile. I looked over and saw that he was just sort of staring at me, with this smile on his face. I blushed. We just walked along for quite a while, in silence.
"So...." I said, desperately trying to think of something to say, "You just get out of school too?"
"No," he said, surprising me. "I don't do school anymore. I dropped out last year. I'm studying motor mechanics now."
"Wow, really?" He nodded. "And hows that going?"
"Oh, it's great. Just tough sometimes, making friends. All the guys in my class can be so homophobic, so I don't really know if there's anyone I can trust." He sighed.
"Yes..." I said, looking up at him. His eyes were down on the sand. He had a slightly sad look that I've never seen on him before. "Do your parent's know that you're......?"
"No, they don't. Well, my dad does, but my mom and step-dad have no idea. Otherwise, Andrea knows, and this other guy called Keaton. That's pretty much it. People at my last school knew. They didn't leave me alone. It was... horrible. That's why I moved away from my dad and in with my mom. Halfway across the country, to get away from history." He went silent, obviously reliving some past hell. I didn't know what to say. I've never had that. Obviously, for me, primary school was no party, what with being the smart kid, but at least my closet door had always been firmly shut and locked. I wonder how people found out about Eric. They wouldn't have just assumed - He was one of the most masculine guys I've ever met. I put my hand on his shoulder, for lack of anything better to do.
He looked up at me, his eyes setting of fireworks all over my body again. I blushed. God, I need to do something about that. He wrapped a hand around my waist and pulled me into a kiss. Oh my GOD. We were kissing in the middle of a public beach. No one was around the last time I looked, but you never knew when someone could slip around the dunes. I gasped, which was when he slipped his tongue into my mouth again and I stopped caring about all those irrelevant details.
He pushed me behind a nearby dune and we just lay there, kissing. I lay in the sand with one hand behind my head, and the other on his chest. He lay on top of me, his one hand running through my hair, his other gently planted on my waist. I was hard, and I could feel his hardnes against my leg too. I think I groaned in pleasure. There was nothing on earth like this. Eventually he pulled up, and we just lay there, looking to eachother's eyes, both smiling. I pushed him off and got up, dusting my self off. He lay there in the sand, looking up at me, pouting and looking as sexy as hell. I smiled again.
"Come on, you lazy-ass," I sighed with exasperation, bending down and grabbing one of his hands to pull him up. He just smiled at me and lay there like dead weight. "It's getting late. And it looks like it's going to rain." I said, looking up at the dark cloudy sky. The dark storm clouds seemed to have come from nowhere. I wondered how long we'd been out here. I didn't think it was that long. Soemtimes at the coast, the weather just creeped up on you. "My family'll be having dinner soon. Want to join me?"
He hopped up, and raised his eyebrows at me.
"Seriously? You're just inviting me? Just like that?"
"Sure," I said, laughing suddenly. He sounded so shocked. "What? Don't you want to come?"
"I do. I just thought that maybe you'd have to ask your parents first. What if there isn't enough food?"
"Oh, no," I laugh, "That's not a problem at all. Have you seen the size of my family? My mom's always cooking in bulk. You never know how much my family will....um... devour. She just makes a hell of a lot and hopes we don't leave too much over. There's always enough for one more. Like she says, in our house, it's not cooking - it's catering."
He laughs and pauses a few seconds in thought.
"Okay." He smiles, and I smile back.
We started walking back to the house slowly. My turn for a family dynamics question.
"Aren't you gonna call home and let them know you're not eating there tonight?"
"Oh, no. It's just me and Caitlin at the moment. And Euginia, our maid-slash-caretaker. We usually just get take aways or eat some of that organic shit that Caitlin's always buying for us. Euginia doesn't cook for us, and the other staff has been dismissed because our parents are away and not using the house to entertain."
"The 'other staff'?" I look over at him and raised an eyebrow. "How many people work for you family?"
"Oh.... Well.... There's Euginia, she's sort of a head housekeeper. Then there's four cleaning girls, temps I guess, 'cause they change all the time. There's Charlie, he's sort of a butler - more for show than anything else really. Carrie, she's our cook. She's great. And there's Edward. He drives the limo. That's pretty much it."
"Awwwww," I say, rustling his hair and giving him a quick peck on the cheek.
"What?" He looked confused. The kiss was very uncharacteristic of me, but we had just lain in the sand, making out, so I gues it wasn't exactly inapropriate. He was probably wondering about the 'Awwww'.
"You know their names. You are the cutest rich boy I've ever met."
"Shut up," he says, laughing and poking me in the ribs. I jumped away, laughing. "I could be making the names up. To get inot your pants." He winks.
"Puh-lease. Like you have to try that hard." I giggle, and he breaks into a huge smile, "You're just one of those closet-nice-guys."
"Speaking of closets......" He glances across at me, suddenly all serious.
"Yeah....." I say slowly, glancing at him sidwards, half-grinning still.
"Do your parents know that you're......." He trails off.
"No, they don't. I don't think I want my mom to know until I leave the house. She's great, and she'll be fine with it, but I just want peace until I'm done with highscholl. Which, trust me, I won't have once she knows."
"Oh," He looked over at me cautiously. "Are you afraid to tell her?"
I looked over at him seriously. No one had ever asked me that before.
"It's......inconvenient. Messy." I sighed. "But that might just be my excuse. Yes, I guess I am. Not of rejection - I know my mom well enough to know she'd be fine with it. But of actually admitting it. Of having it out there, I guess. Like a guarentee that I'm not normal. Something which, I'm only beginning to realise that I'm fine with. I just don't want to tell her, for the time being. If, of course, she doesn't already know."
"How would she know?"
"Well...... I've never had a girlfriend. And I've never exactly been masculine. And...... I may have been quite sloppy with covering up, um, internet porn...." I grinned sheepishly. He had burst out laughing and he was chuckling so hard his face had gone red. We reached the stairs eventually. He stopped and turned to me.
"Are you sure you want me coming for dinner?" He sighed and stared at me, serious again. This was becoming a bad habit. I'd have to work on that, right after I got my blushing-when-he-smiles problem sorted.
"Well......" I said doubtfully. I burst out laughing at the look on his face. "Oh, come on. Of course I want you there. Please make my monday night bearable." He seemed to consider my words for a few seconds.
"I'd be happy to." He smiled that smile again, and this time I didn't blush.
