Author`s notes: First off, to Viv, because she asked me to write a family Jushua story. Secondly, I want to alert everyone I changed the story a bit to where the baby was already in foster care. I did some more research and discovered that's the most common in the state of New York. Secondly, the application here is an actual application for the adoption agency "Adoptions Together". For more information on adopting from Adoptions Together, visit their website at: http://www.adoptionstogether.com

Also, all social securities numbers are not real as far as I know, any similarities or coincidences I do not mean intentionally. Addresses, phone numbers, salaries, educations, etc are all fictional also.

Josh's POV:

The call we'd been waiting for came two weeks later. I was home alone at the time, so by the time your father got home for dinner I had already printed out so much information on adopting a waiting child the office was covered in stacks of paper.

"What the hell has happened here?" Justin asked, from the doorway to the office.

"Good news, Sergeant Andersen called today. The baby's been taken in legally by Adoptions Together International. Which means she's able to be adopted." Josh answered, beaming from ear to ear, as he stood up and made his way towards his husband.

"You're kidding."

"Nope, I even asked if the foster parents were interested in something permanent and he said no, that they already had four other adopted children."

"So this mean we have a chance?" Justin questioned, smiling.

"Yes, it means we have a chance." Josh kissed Justin on the lips lightly and hugged him close.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

"So, then what's all this paperwork I see everywhere?"

"Well, I got online and did some research on adopting waiting children. Adoptions Together has a website, and I printed out the application form. It's the first step in letting people see we mean business." Josh said, as he made his way over to the desk and sat down.

"Well, let's see this form." Justin stated as he picked it up and read over it.

"My god this thing is longer than hell."

"I know. Want to grab a chair?"

"Sure."

Justin grabbed a chair and plopped down next to Josh, reaching in his pocket for his reading glasses. Josh picked up a pen, and set the form down in front of them.

"Well, that only took an hour and a half. I'm starving, what's for dinner?"

"How does pizza sound?"

"Sounds yummy." Justin replied, standing up and making his way to the phone.

"I'll mail this tomorrow." Josh added, to no one in particular, sealing the application into an envelope.

"Justin, baby, look what we got in the mail today." Josh said, coming into their living room with a letter in his hand.

"What is it Josh?"

"Look." Josh handed Justin the letter.

Dear Joshua and Justin Chasez,

We are pleased to announce that your application has been reviewed and you are eligible to have a home study. Please contact me, Grace White, at (212) 675-9084 for the most convenient time for a one on one interview. Thanks for you time, and congratulations.

Sincerely,

Grace White

Grace White

Justin placed the letter down on the table. "We did it Josh, she's almost ours."

"Justin, Grace will be here ANY minute. Are you ready yet?" Joshscreeched through the doorframe to their bedroom.

"Yeah, just a sec, let me finish tying my tie."

"Okay." Josh answered, pacing around the floor.

"Baby, why do you look so nervous?" Justin asked, coming into the room.

"I don't know, what if she doesn't like us? What if she doesn't think we're a good fit."

"Well, there's not much we can do if that amounts to being the case."

"I know, it's just...baby, I just know that you finding her in the park was some sort of sign. We have to get her, we just have to." Josh questioned, coming and burying his face into Justin's neck.

"Baby, I'm pretty sure we will." Justin replied, kissing the top of Josh's head.

A shrill ring disrupted the moment, and Justin made his way over to the intercom.

"Hello?"

"Hi, it's Grace White. I'm here for your home study. Can I come up?"

"Of course." Justin answered, buzzing her in, and opening their front door to the staircase.

"Hi. I'm Grace White." Grace stated, extending her right hand.

"Justin Chasez and that is my husband Joshua Chasez." Justin answered, gripping her hand firmly.

"Nice to meet both of you." Grace grinned.

"Well, where would you like to start."

"I just need to interview you two. We've done studies on your jobs, have contacted the friend you wanted us to contact, and now we're just left with talking with each one of you individually. Why don't I start with you Joshua? Would that bother you Justin?"

"Not at all. If you need me, I'll be in the office." Justin replied, kissing Josh lightly on the lips before backing out of their foyer.

"Why don't we come sit down in the living room?" Josh began, motioning towards the sofa.

Grace sat down in an adjacent chair, rummaging through her briefcase, and pulled out a yellow notepad.

"You look nervous Joshua." Grace stated, smiling from ear to ear as she looked up.

"I am a bit."

"Well, don't be. I don't bite. Let's see here. Well, first off, why do you want to adopt this child that you have applied for?"

"Well, Justin was the one who found her in the park that day, abandoned. And we had already been discussing adopting a child. November marked our nine year wedding anniversary, and I'm almost 40, so we thought we needed to get cracking if we wanted to start a family. The baby Justin found though, something just told me that if we could adopt her, fate must have had something to do with Justin being the one to find her."

"Yes, it would seem like that wouldn't it. Now, Joshua, I know I am supposed to only know what is in our files, but I obviously recognize you from NBC. Are you prepared to handle a child with as difficult a career as you have?"

"Oh yes. I'm very ready. Justin and I talked about this, and we've decided that if it came to it, though it shouldn't have to, one of us could very easily leave their job and we would still have plenty of financial funds."

"Yes, the financial end was never one of our worries." Grace smirked, winking her right eye.

"Do you feel like you might need to hire a nanny or babysitter for the time being, until the child is old enough?"

"I have planned to take about a year off from most of the things I do, and only work the one show I do on the weekends, thus letting me stay at home during the week. But, as I said already, if one of us had to leave our job, that would be alright."

"Well, I think that's all Joshua. Thanks so much for your time. I'd like to talk to Justin now, if that's possible."

"Of course." Josh responded, heading towards the office.

Josh knocked loudly on the office door, and poked his head inside.

"Hey, all done?" Justin asked, looking up at Josh from the computer screen.

"Yep. You're turn. What are you looking at?"

"Oh, just the digital pictures I took of us last year on our trip to Cancun. I'm getting them organized so I can print them out and make an album."

"Sounds nice. She wants to talk to you, so I'll see you in a little."

"Okay baby." Justin answered as he walked into the living room to find Grace sitting with the notepad on her lap.

"My turn for the 20 questions huh?"

"Yep, your turn. Why do you want to adopt this baby?"

"Well, Josh has wanted a child since the day I met and fell in love with him. And we had already decided to go to the adoption agency when I found the baby abandoned on the bench in October of last year. After the police took her into their custody and placed her in foster care, I worried sick about her. I felt an attachment to this child that I have never felt about any other child I've ever known. I love Josh very much and I want to have a family with him. Our love is very strong and has no limits, so it would only make sense to me to expand my heart for a child to love."

"Very well put Justin. Are you prepared to handle all the responsibilities of parenting a waiting child?"

"Yes. Josh and I have been attending a parenting class one night a week since the end of November. I believe we are ready for everything that could be tossed at us."

"In the state of New York it is fully legal for a gay couple to adopt, but, do you feel that your sexuality could have a negative affect on the child?"

"Not at all. I think bringing up a child in an open environment, where they are taught to accept everyone for who they are, and not judge them for something stereotypical is a good place for them to learn to handle the world."

"So you do not believe that the child will feel animosity towards you all in her later stages of life?"

"Not at all. What a child is brought up believing from birth to love, will always remain in their hearts. If she is brought up accepting everyone, she will go off into the world accepting everyone. Most people that have children that's views on subjects like these only differ because the parent is usually the closed minded person, and the child experiences life and realizes that everything we have here on earth is here for a reason, and there if we want to live in harmony, we need to just get on with our lives."

Grace finished jotting down all the notes, put the notebook back in her briefcase, and stood up, reaching for Justin's hand.

"That is all. I will be in touch with you in about two or three months to tell you what the agency has decided about the placement. Thank you so much for your time."

"You're welcome." Justin said, as he opened the door for Grace and watched as she descended the stairs.

Closing the door, Justin made his way back to the office where Josh was now sitting at the computer sorting through files.

"She left." Justin stated, sighing, as he came up and started to massage Josh's shoulders.

"Oh? Well, what'd she say?" Josh questioned, looking up into Justin's eyes.

"She said she'd get back to us in two to three months with the agency's decision. I didn't realize it took so long."

"Well, I guess they really have to consider everything. We know we're good people, but these agencies job is to make sure the child in question is given the best home for them, that every need is met. We'll get the call soon enough."

"Since when are you so cool and sure of yourself? Before the whole interview you were freaking out on me."

"I heard some of what you said to her, about our love. You're exactly right Justin, and I don't think anyone can turn down someone who says something that direct from their heart."

"I love you, so much Josh. I wouldn't want to raise a family with anyone else but you."

"I love you too Justin, and me neither."

"Josh! Josh! Josh!!!" Justin screamed, darting into their bedroom like a toddler on Christmas morning.

"What Justin, why are you running around like a child instead of the 33 year old man I'm married to?" Josh laughed.

"We got her."

"What?"

"We just got a call from the agency. We Got Her."

"Are you serious?"

"Yes, of course I'm serious. Grace called just now. They want us to come down and pick her up as soon as possible. She's been placed in our house, and we are able to begin petitioning for full adoption within two months.

"Well, what are we waiting for let's go get our daughter."

"Okay, I've got the door Josh." Justin said as he unlocked it and held it open for Justin and the small 5 month old child he held in his arms.

"Thanks." Josh said, smiling.

Closing the door behind them, Justin made his way over to where Josh was standing in the middle of the foyer. Leaning over Josh's shoulder and into their daughters eyes he smiled.

"Vivian Annette Chasez, welcome home."
