Oh lordy, I'm back. Boo! Happy to see me again? I hope so. Welcome to the "reunion" installment of Bad Boy B-Rok. Before you get too excited, let me just say that I don't know if this is the last installment of the story or not. Everytime I say that, I always end up coming back for more. So, I'll just say that I wrote this installment 'cause I always loved writing this story, and I wanted to write something that would be A LOT of fun. All the installments are pretty well appreciated by the fans, as well, (save the one where Brian and Matt broke up)so that's encouragement, too. I really don't have much more to say about this installment, except I hope you enjoy it as much as you have all the others. So, you know what to do if you want to say anything about the story, or just want to say "hello" --e-mail me at worknprog@yahoo.com! Hope to hear from you all! Love to all the fans! Oh, and remember this is all fiction. It's fun to fantasize though, ain't it?!?!?!?!?!?! I hope all of you that got advanced copies didn't tell anyone how it ends! Love, Lep.
Bad Boy B-Rok: Reunion By-Leprechaun
(Part 1)
"That is never going to work." "Yes it is, I've done this before." "Oh, you are so full of it." "You're full of it." "You need to get a broom handle and dislodge it, not pour more water down there to make it full." "You just wait and see. This is the easiest way to do it."
I was sitting at Leo's kitchen table, watching him try to fix the disposal in his sink. The sucker was clogged beyond belief, and for some reason, Leo thought that filling it with water, then turning it on would un-clog it. I tried to convince him that using a broom handle to fix it was best, but he was intent on showing me up.
"There we go. That oughta do it." Leo turned off the water and smiled at me complacently. "Sure. Turn it on buddy." I smiled. "Alright, here goes." Leo turned towards the sink.
I smiled widely, waiting for him to flip the switch. He turned the water back on, then hesitantly flipped the switch on the wall above the sink. The disposal came on with a loud sound, then started running smoothly.
"See, I told you it'd work." Leo turned towards me and laughed.
I didn't have time to respond. There was a huge noise, like a lawnmower running over a cement block, then a huge gusher of water shot out of the sink, dousing Leo. I immediately started laughing. I almost fell out of the chair I was laughing so loud. Leo started cussing the sink and rushed to turn off the disposal. Leo stood there after turning the sink and disposal off as I laughed at him, holding on to the table for support.
"Ha. Ha. Ha." Leo looked at me with contempt. "Move over, boy." I laughed as I stood up.
I continued to giggle as I grabbed a broom from the corner and walked towards him. He wouldn't get away from the sink, so I swiveled my hips, bumping his hips, and pushed him out of the way.
"Now watch." I teased as I pushed the handle down into the disposal and jiggled it around. "Yeah, I bet you know a lot about shoving long objects in holes." Leo replied, shoving his tongue in his cheek. "I'm going to pretend you didn't say that."
After I had un-cloged the disposal, I pulled the broom out and turned the water on.
"Flip the switch." I said.
Leo quickly flipped the switch and moved out of the way, thinking more water was coming up. However, instead of shooting water at us, the disposal ran smoothly, clearing itself of blockage.
"See?!?!?!" I began laughing again. "You are so smug." Leo teased. "No, if I was smug, I probably wouldn't be laughing." I replied, then looked up at Leo. "I can't believe that you fixed it." "What? Just 'cause I'm the gay one here, I know nothing about house-repair?!?!?!" I snorted. "No! You know what I meant." "Suuuure I do." I smiled, and looked at my watch. "Oh fuck!" "What?" Leo stopped laughing and looked up at me. "I have to get going. Devon is going to kick my ass." I ran over to the table and grabbed my backpack. "Oh lord." "I'm late, I'm late. For a very important date." I chanted while digging in my backpack for my sunglasses. "It's just a concert, chill out boy. It's not even a concert. It's a quasi-concert." Leo laughed at my behavoir. "It's not just a concert. It's the Backstreet Boys at The House of Blues, mister man." I smiled as I slipped on my Panama Jack's. "Yeah, yeah. We wouldn't want you to be late for that." "Hey! I haven't seen the guys in five months. Kiss my white ass." I stated as I threw my backpack over my shoulder. "No, thank you." Leo acted like he was gagging. "Yeah, yeah." I sighed. "Sure you don't want to come along?" "Hell no. I don't want to waste my money." "I'll remember you said that. Bye, straight boy." I laughed as I quickly walked out the sliding glass door.
I walked down the driveway and hopped in my car, quickly starting it up and leaving Leo's house. Five whole months. I couldn't believe it. It had been another of those "all work and no play" times for me. For the last five months, I had done nothing but worked. I was in Salt Lake City for the first three months filming the Kevin Williamson movie, "The Witching Hour". Ofcourse, the paparazzi at first had it confused as a screen adaptation of the Anne Rice novel, seeing that you don't normally pair Matt Thompson with Teeny-Bopper movies. However, it was an original screenplay. The next two months after that, I had to do looping, plus beaucoup talk show appearances and whatnot. In fact, in two days I was going to do Rosie O'Donnell, then I'd be off for awhile. I'd have a whole month off before I started filming a new movie with Bob and the old studio. The good thing about me being in movies all the time was that my popularity was rising. My asking price was also rising as well. How I ended up in L.A. when my apartment was in New York is another topic. After I finished filming the movie with Kevin Williamson, Leo and Devon asked me to come out to L.A. for a vacation. How could I pass up that offer? Barbara was also in L.A., so I'd get to see her again. The Backstreet Boys were also doing a "quasi-concert", as Leo had put it, at The House Of Blues, so I had to catch that, too. I hadn't seen the guys since I left New York that day so many months ago. To be honest, I was missing the guys. They were the first real friends I made when I came to Hollywood so long ago--well, not so long ago. I was looking forward to seeing Brian again, even. Actually, I was pretty excited to see Brian again. I'm sure he had a new boyfriend already, while my ass had stayed single. The guys had been busy touring and doing talk show appearances as well. Whenever I turned on the T.V. at my hotel in Salt Lake, I'd see something new about them. They were tearing up the Billboard's, as well as being the center of attention on Total Request Live with 'I Want It That Way' and 'Larger Than Life'. Every now and again, I'd talk to Nick or A.J. on the phone. They'd both fill me in on what had been happening with them. However, besides those chances I got to talk to them, I had no idea what they had been up to. Anyhow, I drove quickly across L.A. to Devon's house. I wanted to get to the concert as soon as possible to get in our seats and be ready to see the guys. I parked quickly when I drove up to Devon's house, and jumped out, hoping he was ready. Right when I touched the doorbell, the door popped open.
"You're late." Devon dead-panned. "I know. Leo had a problem with his plumbing." I spoke before I knew what I had said. "I bet he did." Devon grinned evily. "Get a clue, he's straight. Are we ready to go, or what?" "The show doesn't start for an hour and a half!" Devon laughed. "So what? I want to eat first, and maybe we'll get to see the guys before the show." I explained. "Alright, alright. Let me grab my purse." Devon 'flipped' his wrist and ran flamboyantly back into the house.
I laughed and walked out towards my car, opening the door and waiting on Devon. I stood there for a good fifteen minutes before Devon came back out of the house, his own backpack in hand. He slowly strolled over to the car while I glared at him.
"Chill out, boy. I called us a cab." Devon spoke up. "A cab?" I squinched my eyes. "Yeah, a cab. That way we can drink all we want tonight without any problem about getting back home." "Ah, don't worry. I won't be drinking" I smiled and reached into my backpack for my smokes. "Fine, I'll drink. And can you not do that??" Devon screamed, then laughed at me. "We're outside, so shut up." I replied and quickly lit my cigarette. "You're incorigable." "Hey, it's the only thing I'm really good at so chill out." "Fine. So, mister man, I know something sordid about you." Devon grinned evily at me, moving closer. "What sordid thing? The one that I'm dating Sarah Michelle Gellar, the one that Christina Ricci is carrying my baby, or the one that I'm part of a Satan worshiping circle?" I asked, not letting it phase me. "I hadn't heard the Satan thing, yet. However, how's your love-child with Christina?" Devon teased. "Shut up." "No, what I was refering to was this..." Devon begun to dig in his backpack right as the taxi pulled up. "Come on, you can show me in the cab." I pulled him towards the cab.
The cabbie was apparently not expecting celebrities, because she seemed a bit put off by who was climbing into her cab.
"Hi." I spoke sweetly to the cabdriver as Devon closed the door. "He-Hello. Where are you guys, um, going?" She asked. "House of Blues, please." Devon replied.
She slowly pulled away from Devon's house, looking in the rearview mirror at us as she did so. As soon as the cab was a couple blocks away, Devon dug in his backpack again.
"THIS is what I am talking about." Devon pulled out a Playgirl. "What are you doing?" I whispered with wide-eyes as I grabbed the Playgirl from him. "What do you mean?" Devon whispered back.
I held the magazine down, out of view of the cabdriver's view, and shifted my eyes towards the front of the cab to clue Devon in.
"Look at page one-ten, you paranoid boy." Devon laughed.
I rolled my eyes and opened the magazine to the page Devon stated. It took me a minute to find it as I had to look at some pictures along the way. As soon as I found the page, my eyes bulged.
"Pretty hot, huh?" Devon began laughing uncontrollably.
What I saw was unbelievable. I was looking at me naked. I was in shock. However, immediately I realized that my head had to have been pasted on the naked body. My body didn't look as good as the person who stunted for the body.
"Oh my god!" I began laughing loudly. "Isn't that funny?!?!?" Devon slapped me in the arm and doubled over in his seat. "This is not my body!" I screeched, grabbing the attention of the cab-driver. "It don't matter, it's got your face on it." Devon giggled. "Oh come on. No one in their right mind would think this was really me. You can clearly tell the head was pasted on!" I exclaimed, trying to keep from laughing. "Suuuuuure, Matt. I believe you." Devon teased again. "I'll prove it." I stated. "How?"
I leaned over the front seat to where my torso was in front.
"Excuse me, miss?" I spoke to the driver. "Yes?!?!" The driver looked shocked at me being so close. "Would you really think this was my body if you saw this?" I asked, shoving the magazine in her face.
The driver took one look and lost control of the cab for a moment, swerving into the other lane. Devon immediately started screaming at me, and pulled me into the backseat again.
"What the hell are you doing?" Devon was shocked at my absurdity. "I was getting her opinion, duh!" I acted innocent. "Yeah, I can see that. Jesus, Matt." Devon rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry ma'am." I leaned back to my former position and looked at the driver. "I should've warned you first." "That's alright." The driver was blushing. "But, can you look at this again and tell me if you think it's fake?" I smiled sweetly. "Um, um, sure." The driver avoided eye-contact with me. "Here. Now do you think that's real?" I asked, placing the magazine within her view as she attempted to drive. "No, but I'm sure all the women--and some of the men--in America are hoping so." She smiled sheepishly. "Thank you." I smiled and got back into the backseat. "See, Devon? You can tell it's not real." "You are such an idiot." Devon laughed loudly, followed by the driver. "Yeah, well..."
After a very quick ride, we were in front of the House of Blues. I payed the driver, giving her a larger-than-normal tip and got out. I gave her the big tip to make up for almost making her wreck with the picture. Devon and I quickly made our way into the club, past the teeny-boppers that were waiting on the Backstreet Boys to show up, gathering many screams as we walked into the club. The guy at the door, who was dressed like a secret service agent, showed us to our table. We had intentionally gotten tickets for a table in the corner, out of the media's scrutinizing camera lenses.
"I can't wait to show all the guys this picture." Devon giggled as we sat down. "Yeah, I bet you're creaming your pants from the anticipation of embarassing me." I laughed and lit a smoke. "Jeez, can you ever not smoke?" Devon waved a hand in front of his face. "Oh, shut up." "Sure, make me die from passive smoking." Devon curled up his nose and kept waving. "You can endure some passive smoking. You don't see me complaining when I have to endure passive boredom while I'm with you!" I screamed my come back. "Hey!" Devon giggled.
I guess our screaming attracted the waiter's attention.
"What can I get for you two?" The waiter smiled down at us like we were crazy. "Well, I want a rum and coke." Devon replied quickly. "And a surgical mask if you have one." "Gotcha, and for you?" The waiter laughed at Devon then looked at me. "A very sharp knife and I'll have a Pepsi." I smiled. "I'll bring a mop as well." The waiter joined in before leaving to get our drinks. "And what's the 'very sharp knife' for, mister?" Devon eyed me. "Oh, nothing." I smiled innocently. "Yeah, I bet."
The waiter came back quickly and gave us our drinks, smiling at how we were still making fun of each other.
"So, I have a surprise for you tonight." Devon said, sipping his drink as the waiter left. "And it is?" "I'm going to pay!" Devon said happily, as if to make it sound amazing. "Well, it's the least you could do." I turned up my nose. "You are such a shithead." Devon laughed. "I know, I know. So what are you going to eat?" I replied. "I think I'm going to get a steak with a baked potato, and onion rings." Devon licked his lips from excitement. "Sounds good." I smiled at his expression of hunger. "What are you getting?" Devon asked. "I'm going to have an Oriental Chicken Salad, ofcourse." "WHAT?!? That's what you get ALL the time!" Devon looked at me like I was crazy. "Hey, I never get tired of eating them." I smiled widely. "You retard." Devon rolled his eyes as the waiter approached again to take the food order.
Devon and I made small talk for the next hour as we ate our dinner. Every now and then, the announcer would get on stage to tell us that the Backstreet Boys would be up shortly, just to keep us in suspense. About fifteen minutes before the concert started, I was getting anxious. I was extremely nervous about seeing the guys again. I mean, I knew them all very well, but with the whole 'Brian thing', I was nervous about how the night would go. Devon could tell I was a little uptight and left me to my thoughts the last little bit of the wait. Finally, when the waiter came to take our plates away, the announcer came onstage to introduce the guys, causing Devon to breathe a sigh of relief. He was glad that I would settle down now. As soon as the man left the stage, the house lights went out, leaving us pretty much in the dark. Slowly, the music to 'Don't Want To Lose You Now' started. Slowly, a different colored spotlight was shined on the stage, illuminating each guy. First A.J., then Brian, Howie, Kevin, and finally Nick. All the guys were sitting on stools, dressed in suits. The stage was pretty much set up like the stage in their "A Night With The Backstreet Boys" video. As the song started, all the guys were looking around, over the audience, like they were looking for something. It seems as though they didn't find it, since they stopped looking as they finished the song. I was wondering what they were looking for, and thought about asking Devon what he thought they were doing, but decided not to. The guys ended up doing, 'Don't Want To Lose You Now', 'Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)', 'The One', 'The Perfect Fan', 'Larger Than Life', 'All I Have To Give', 'Just To Be Close To You', 'Back To Your Heart', 'As Long As You Loved Me', 'No One Else Comes Close', 'I'll Never Break Your Heart', and then they did something no one expected. Brian began to speak.
"Hello!" Brian exclaimed with his trademark grin.
Everyone in the audience shouted back, including Devon and myself.
"Right now would be the time that we'd close the set with 'I Want It That Way'. Well, don't worry, we're going to close with that. However, we want to sing a new tune for ya'll. I wrote this song last week during a soundcheck at our last concert of the year. I guess we all liked how it turned out so much that we decided to make you guys the first audience to ever hear it. Is that alright with you guys?"
The room responded with welcoming cheers.
"Good, 'cause we were gonna do it even if you said 'no'." Brian laughed. "It's a little song called '(That's The Way) It's Meant To Be'. And, um, it goes a little somethin' like this..."
Brian waited for the band to start, then started humming, along with the other guys. I immediately perked up, excited to hear a new BSB song. Devon reached over the table and slapped my hand. I looked over at him and saw him smiling very wide. He just glanced at me then turned his attention back to the guys. After about a twenty second opening of music and humming, Brian began to sing the first verse solo.
If I could only see you one more time. I'd remember love with no reason or rhyme. And maybe all the feelings would come back to me. Maybe you'd remember how much you love me. Maybe that's the way it's meant to be.
Devon glanced over at me as Brian sang. He tried to gauge the expression on my face. Then the chorus started, all the guys singing together. I kept my attention fixed firmly on the guys.
'Cause when I think of you, I know life's worth living. I wish I could hear you say you love me. Baby, why's it so hard for you to see, That's the way it's meant to be.
Devon reached over and grabbed my hand and squeezed it tightly, as if to tell me something, but I kept my eyes on the guys for the rest of the song.
If I could only kiss you one more time. I'd remember I was yours and you were mine. And maybe you wouldn't leave me lonely. Maybe I wouldn't be as blue as the sea. Darlin', that's the way it's meant to be.
'Cause when I think of you, I know life's worth living. I wish I could hear you say you love me. Baby, why's it so hard for you to see, That's the way it's meant to be.
If I could only touch you one more time. I'd forget how you left our love behind. And maybe you'd forget how cruel I can be. We can be together again if you just believe. Baby, that's the way it's meant to be.
When you are near, I know I have nothing to fear. Because when we're side by side, We can do it if we try.
Oh honey, that's the way it's meant to be.
'Cause when I think of you, I know life's worth living. I wish I could hear you say you love me. Baby, why's it so hard for you to see, That's the way it's meant to be.
Ooh baby, can't you see? That you're all I'll ever need.
Ooh baby, I sure believe. That's the way it's meant to be.
As soon as the music stopped, the crowd got to it's feet and applauded loudly. Devon stood up and clapped while I sat there and smiled, clapping as well.
"Wow! I didn't know they'd like it that much." Nick into the microphone, but addressing Brian. "All right, everyone sit. Sit." Brian giggled lightly. "It's time to close this out you guys." Howie spoke up into the microphone. "Yeah, so everyone, this is a little song we like to call 'I Want It That Way'." Kevin smiled at the crowd's response to what he just said.
The guys began the song, the audience singing along like we were in a giant karaoke bar.
"Hey..." Devon whispered. "What?" I whispered back, but still trying to keep my attention on the show. "I bet he wrote that song for you." Devon deduced. "Yeah? Well he might have written it for Carson, too." I rolled my eyes at Devon's suggestion. "You are sooooo blind." Devon laughed. "You are sooooo full of shit." I squinched up my face and grinned at him. "Oh shut up."
After the guys got done singing the last song, they slowly made their way off stage, thanking the audience before taking off.
"Well, now it's time for another Pepsi." I laughed as the house lights came back on. "Yeah, I need a little bit more here, too." Devon hiccupped, pretending to be drunk. "Well, get the waiter's attention while I go visit the porcelain mistress." I stood up and headed towards the bathroom. "Hurry back!" Devon hollered after me.
It was quite a squeeze through the place. There were tables pushed in to fill the place to capacity. I accidentally bumped into a couple people on my way to the bathroom. When I finally got into the bathroom, I quickly did my business, then walked over to the sink to wash my hands. After I got done washing my hands, I bent over the sink and slowly spashed some water into my face. No reason really, I just needed to cool down a bit. The manager of the House of Blues must have been trying to sweat us all out. I held my face over the sink, letting the excess water drip off, my eyes shut, when I heard the door behind me open.
"Oh my god, it can't be....It IS Matt Thompson!" I heard a voice behind me exclaim.
I quickly reached for a paper towel and dried my face off, then spun around and opened my eyes.
"And I have him all alone in the men's restroom!" I saw Nick standing before me. "In the flesh--well flush--whatever." I laughed as Nick ran towards me and pulled me into a hug. "If you aren't a sight for sore eyes." Nick exclaimed as he pulled back and looked me in the face. "I'm not a sight for any eyes." I laughed. "How've you...oh wait!" Nick quickly ran to the door and turned the lock. "If you plan on pulling an A.J., I'm decking you." I laughed as I hopped up on the sink. "No, no no. A.J. would kill me." Nick laughed and came to sit on the sink next to me. "You guys still going strong, then?" I asked. "Yep yep. Look." Nick held up his hand to display a ring. "Oh really?!?!" I grabbed his hand. "Yeah, really. So how've you been, mister man?" Nick asked as I let go of his hand. "Busy, tired, and scrutinized. You know, the usual." "I know the feeling. So, who's with you tonight?" "Devon." "Oh, is HE the new boyfriend?" Nick frowned somewhat.
I couldn't respond, I just laughed.
"What?" Nick looked confused. "Devon and me?!?!?! Boy are you crazy?" I laughed harder. "Okay, okay, I got it." Nick blushed. "You should KNOW I wouldn't date him." "True. So who's the lucky new guy?" "Rosie." "Rosie? What kind of a name is that for a guy???" "It's not. It's the name for Rosie Palm and her five sisters." I smiled evily. "Oh, you are so gross!" Nick slapped me in the arm. "Well, she's the only one I'm seeing, so I had to tell ya'!" I laughed as I rubbed my arm where he had hit me. "Well, where's Devon?" Nick asked, looking around the bathroom. "Probably out at the table, with our fresh drinks, waiting on me to return." I replied. "Well, go get him," Nick hopped down,"then come to the back. I'll tell security to let you two in, k?" "Alright. I'll see you back there." I replied as Nick walked out of the restroom and I hopped off the sink.
I exited the bathroom just as some guy, who looked like he was going to vomit, came rushing in. He quickly ran for a stall and I heard the familiar sound of chunk spewing. I made a gagging face, then quickly walked back to my table.
"Hey, was your turtle peeking or something?" Devon laughed. "No." I laughed, not bothering to sit down. "Well it took you long enough." "I ran into Nick. He said that we should come to the back room to see them." I explained quickly, grabbing my Pepsi. "Oh, alright." Devon looked excited, and got up, grabbing his drink as well. "Follow me, sir." I smiled and began to lead Devon towards the back.
We made our way through the crowded room, getting several looks from people, plus a few whispers about how it was 'Matt& Devon'. We ignored all the looks and made our way to a door that was gaurded by another 'secret service man'.
"Hi. Nick said he'd tell you to let us in?" I smiled at the guard. "He did. However, you can't take your drinks in." The guard replied without facial expression. "Huh?" Devon looked confused. "You can't take glass objects back there." The guard replied. "Excuse me? I paid for this drink!" I looked at the guard like he was crazy. "Excuse ME! I paid for that." Devon corrected me. "You haven't gotten the check yet, neither of us has paid for them." I replied. "Well, the check will be coming to me." Devon stated. "True," then I looked at the guard,"And I won't let his money go to waste." "I'm sorry, but glasses are not allowed." The guard let a brief smile catch his lips. "Oh come on, we know these guys. Besides, we're actors, not stalkers." Devon smiled. "Yeah, I'm not going to use this as a weapon." I laughed.
I guess the loud talking got Nick's attention inside, 'cause he peeked his head out.
"Charlie, let them in." Nick spoke. "You know the rules Carter, they can't take glass in." The gaurd replied. "All right, all right. Matt, Devon give me the drinks." Nick held his hands out.
Devon and I handed our drinks to Nick.
"NOW you can come in." Nick smiled and pushed the guard aside for us.
As soon as we had gotten past the guard and into the room, Nick handed the drinks back to us.
"Carter, you shouldn't...."
Nick didn't listen, he just slammed the door in the guy's face.
"Heil Hitler." I laughed. "He's such a jerk." Nick replied. "Ah, don't talk about Charlie that way!" Devon teased. "So, where are the guys?" I asked, glancing around the room and seeing no one but the three of us. "They are changing on the bus, they should be back any minute. Hop a squat, guys." Nick replied.
I walked over to the comfy-looking couch by the wall and sat down, placing my drink on the table. Devon sat down on the other end of the couch as Nick sat in a chair next to me.
"So.....how ya' been?" Nick looked at me. "Didn't you ask me that in the restroom?" I laughed. "Oh yeah. So how have YOU been?" Nick looked at Devon. "Busy, tired, scrutinized. You know, the usual." Devon replied.
Nick and I looked at each other for a moment, then began laughing.
"What?" Devon looked confused. "Deja Vu." I looked at Nick with a smile. "No kidding." Nick giggled. "What?" Devon looked confused. "Deja Vu." I looked at Nick with a smile. "No kidding." Nick giggled. "We really liked the new song." Devon spoke up quickly. "Thanks. Brian wrote that." "Yeah, that's what he said while he was on stage, duh!" I teased Nick. "Oh shut up. We knew people would like it when he sang it for us at soundcheck." "Yeah, it was very cool. I wonder who he wrote that about?" Devon asked slyly. "Oh my god!" I screamed. "What?!?!" Devon asked me. "Subtlety. It's a word. Look it up." I replied. "What do you mean?" "You couldn't be more obvious with that question if you tried." I laughed, followed by Nick. "Blow me!" Devon laughed, starting to blush. "No thank you." "I really don't know who he wrote it about." Nick smiled at Devon, then looked over at me. "Thank god. I don't want you to make Devon foam at the mouth." "Why would Devon foam at the mouth?" I heard a voice behind me.
I turned around quickly to see A.J. and Howie standing by the back door to the place.
