Becoming Becky (part 2)
It seems like a dream-come-true when a young gender dysphoric boy has understanding parents who supports his transition. When she gets engaged, she faces the challenge of how to tell her fiancé! I hope you enjoy this work of fiction.

Becky began school as a girl, and fit in perfectly. Her brother Bob went to the same school and would tease her privately, but not publicly. Jim knew that Bob didn't really accept Becky as a girl, and cautioned him to keep his feelings to himself, and not to make trouble for her.
Becky was registered for school as a girl, so nobody knew she wasn't a genetic girl. At this point in time, only Becky's family and doctor knew, and they meant to keep it that way.
Becky would visit Dr. Fredericks every six months and he monitored her progress carefully. When she reached fifth grade he discussed her upcoming puberty. He explained that unless they intervened, Becky's testicles would begin producing large amounts of testosterone, which would cause the penis to enlarge, and secondary male features to emerge, such as the Adams apple.
"You mean I will turn into a boy?" Becky asked with horror. Jim and Mary became alarmed.
Dr. Fredericks responded, "That is why we are having this discussion. We can prevent that, and ensure that you develop as the woman that you want to become."
"How does that work?" asked Jim.
"We need to add female hormones, which can be taken as a pill," explained Dr. Fredericks, "and block or eliminate the testosterone."
"Block or eliminate?" Jim asked.
"Becky could take a pill which blocks testosterone," replied the doctor, "or we can remove the testes, which Becky has no use for."
"Which would be better?" asked Mary.
"It's more a matter of preference," the doctor replied, "if she takes the pills, she will have to continue to take them for the rest of her life, but the surgery is permanent. Also, if Becky wished to have her legal gender changed to female, the surgery would be preferable."
"Legal gender?" Jim asked. "why does that matter?"
"Right now it may not, but Becky's birth certificate says male, so that is what all the government records will indicate, so when she gets a driver's license or passport, it will show her as a male. If she gets stopped for a burned out tail lamp, the policeman will see that she is a male from the driver's license while she looks like a woman. This could lead to problems you might prefer to avoid. Also, if a military draft is ever reinstituted, she could be eligible."
"That's enough for me!" said Jim, "I want Becky to be legally a woman.
"Me too!" confirmed Becky.
After more discussion it was decided that Becky would have her testicles removed, and begin taking female hormones. Dr. Fredericks explained that the procedure was called an orchidectomy, in which the testicles are removed, but the scrotum or sack would remain. The sack is not technically needed, but if Becky ever wanted to have a vagina, that skin would be used to create it. He explained that it was a simple outpatient procedure he could do in his office, with recovery in a few weeks.
They arranged for the surgery to be done in during the upcoming spring break, so Becky would not miss school during her recovery. Dr. Fredericks gave Jim the name of an attorney who specialized in transgender issues, so Jim could begin the process of the legal work.
Dr. Fredericks gave Becky a prescription for Estradiol, with instructions to come back in two weeks. He explained that the dosage should be close to correct, but might need adjustment depending on how Becky responds. He explained that she may experience some soreness in her nipples when her breasts begin to develop.
"I'll have breasts?" exclaimed Becky, "that's wonderful!"
Everyone smiled at Becky's enthusiasm.
Over the next few months Becky had her orchidectomy and recovered. Jim would check her incision daily to make sure she was healing well. Her sack was small and only hung down a little. Over time it nearly retracted and was not obvious. Mary had avoided seeing Becky naked because she felt uncomfortable about it, but Jim seemed completely comfortable, and Becky became comfortable with her father looking at her private parts.
Becky grew concerned when her breasts did not begin developing. It was discussed on the next trip to Dr. Fredericks, who asked Mary if she recalled developing early or later than other girls. Mary reported that she remembered regretting her late start, but once started, she developed rapidly.
Dr. Fredericks said that Becky's development is likely to be similar to her mother's, and she shouldn't be alarmed just yet.
"What about increasing the dosage of the Estradiol?" Becky asked.
"That would speed breast development, but would also slow the growth of the rest of your body," Dr. Fredericks explained, "so you should keep the current dosage so your body develops normally – your breasts will arrive, so please be patient."
Jim took Becky with him when he visited the attorney, and the initiated paperwork to secure a legal name change and a change in her gender marker. The attorney cautioned them that while the name change was a virtual certainty, the gender marker change was relatively new and if they get a liberal judge, it will be easy. If not they might have to appeal.
On the way home, Becky expressed concern, "If this doesn't work out, does that mean that I am legally NOT a girl?"
"You are a girl no matter what," assured her father, "but we will just need to get the records right. If it doesn't happen right away, we'll keep at it until we succeed."
In time Becky's breasts began to develop and Mary felt more comfortable dealing with her as a girl. She took Becky to be fitted with a bra and Becky was thrilled. Soon she was taking a sex education class at school, and began to wonder about menstruation. She asked her parents about it and they explained that she would not be having periods and Becky was disappointed.
Mary said, "You don't know how much of a blessing this is! The monthly pain and mood swings were terrible."
"It was terrible for me as well," said Jim, as Mary gave him a dirty look.
"Some of my friends are talking about their periods," she said, "I don't know if I should just pretend, or what to say."
They discussed it and finally agreed that Becky would avoid the subject, but if pressed she would say that she had a hormone imbalance that prevents her having a period. That seemed satisfactory. Over the next few years the subject only came up a few times with her friends, and Becky's cover story seemed to work.
Becky was naturally very pretty, and as her body began to change the boys at school took notice and began to take interest in Becky. Remembering her father's warning, she tried to keep her distance, but she was attracted to them as well.
Becky asked her mother about boys and she said that Becky should ask her father. When she approached Jim, he couldn't very well send her back to her mother, so he tried to be as helpful as he could. He reaffirmed his warning that she should never let anyone else see her with her panties off, and if they did she might be persecuted, hurt or even killed. This really scared Becky, and Jim held her to comfort her, kissing her cheek.
"One day you will meet the right man – a man you can share all of yourself with, but not in school." Jim said.
"Is it okay to kiss a boy?" Becky asked.
"Yes, that's okay," Jim replied, "but don't go too far."
"So it's okay as long as they don't get into my panties?" asked Becky.
"I'd rather you just stick with the kissing for now," Jim said.
"What about feeling my breasts?" Becky asked.
Jim was beginning to feel very nervous, and said, "I'd really prefer that you didn't let them, but if you do – make sure you don't let it go further."
That was the end of the conversation, and the beginning of Jim's worries!
