Chapter Ten

Quickening

I don't care what the articles about Dr. Ellen Ballard say; the woman is just plain weird. Since coming to `The Estate', as I'd dubbed it, my body seemed to be resetting to my regular routine and I found myself up at 5:00 going for a run. By the time I'd come in, Ellen would have the coffee ready and be sitting in the den in the dark or at most the single dim light from the stove hood. She insisted I come sit and drink my coffee with her. She asked about my parents and family, whether I had pets, how I liked school but for days she never had any comments; it was like a long, punctuated therapy session.

Finally, the morning of New Year's Eve, the fourth day we'd been there, we were having our coffee and this time she was the one doing most of the talking.

"You're normal" she said.

"Thank you?" I offered, not exactly sure what to say to that statement.

"I just meant; you don't have to worry when you have these outbursts like the one you had the other day. Your main issue is that you're 18, and your brain is not fully developed. You're still a victim of hormonal mood swings; it will pass" she said. "From the ground we've covered over the last few days, I'd have to say that in my estimation you will be a steadfast partner for my son, if you choose to be. Your anecdotes about your parents show that you've been raised rooted in love; that's an advantage you have over many, many less fortunate souls."

"Okayyy..." I said.

The kitchen light came on and Garrett (yes, he talked me into calling him Garrett) waved at us from across the room. He saw the look on my face, I guess.

"Ellen, can you stop analyzing the guests, please?" he said. I couldn't help it when the snort of laughter came out. She shook her head and took a big sip of her coffee and looked out over the pasture behind the house.

In the kitchen Garrett had pulled a tube of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls from the fridge and was arranging them on a cookie sheet while the oven was preheating. I went in to refill my coffee and he sat his cup beside mine, so I filled his too.

"Don't let her get to you" he whispered, "Just keep this in the back of your mind, under the cool, detached façade of Dr. Ballard whose been grilling you every morning, is the woman whose ankles I had pinned behind her ears last night."

I didn't know what to say to that either, but it did make for some interesting mental imagery. For some reason, I was drawn to Garrett. I could see a lot of him in James. I wondered if that's why James and my dad got along so well; was I like my dad too? Oh shit, now she's got me analyzing myself.

The oven chimed letting us know the cinnamon rolls were ready, so Garrett pulled them out and started coating them with the sugary topping. About that time, James finally came out of hiding and walked up beside me and kissed me, right in front of his dad. I was still getting used to that, we didn't really show too many PDAs back at my parents' house.

"Could you make me some coffee, Teddy?" he asked sleepily.

"Sure" I said.

I took the cup over to him where he was sitting in the cushioned booth at the table. I could hear Ellen say something to her husband about `subservience' just before he started making sex whine noises back to her. `Uhh uhh ooohhh Oh God'. The conversation seemed to end pretty quickly after that. I heard her say something about `childish behavior' and then they went quiet. James looked at me and mouthed What the fuck? I smiled and shrugged. Ellen walked by us on the way toward their bedroom suite, followed by Garrett who stopped and let us know they were going to head into town to get the rest of the stuff for the party tonight, but they'd be back in a couple of hours. We sat sipping coffee and eating our cinnamon rolls until they came down and we heard the garage door open and close.

"I want you to fuck me in the stable" I blurted out. "We have time, they'll be gone a couple of hours."

"Renaldo is out there somewhere" he said, "he'll be getting the stable in order today."

"Then we'll have to sneak around and try to be quiet, that's even better!" I said.

"You are in a mood today, aren't you?" he said, I could see the idea was getting to him from the sparkle in his eyes. I ran across the house and grabbed a condom and lube and shoved it in my pajama pockets then we ducked outside and made a run for the stable.

Renaldo was loading bales of hay onto a UTV to take them out to the pastures. We waited until he cranked up and then made another run for the hayloft. I was dropping my bottoms as soon as we topped the stairs. I didn't have anything on underneath so it was easy access. I got on my knees and bent over the scratchy hay and James shoved a slick finger up my ass, then two. He quickly rolled the condom on and without warning he jammed his entire length up my ass. I bit into the sleeve of my hoodie to keep from yelping. He wasted no time fucking the hell out of me. He was slamming my ass so hard we were moving the bale of hay across the floor. He was getting into the short strokes when we heard the sound of the UTV coming back. James shoved half his body up my ass and I could feel him vibrating as he unloaded into the condom. He pulled out and I quickly pulled my pajama bottoms back up. He pulled the condom off and threw it into the corner and pulled his bottoms back into place. I was still rock hard from my pounding with no release. It sounded like Renaldo was coming back up the stairs so we went and hid behind the bigger stack of hay bales. We could hear him throw another couple of bales down near the UTV and he started down the stairs. As soon as he cranked up, we flew down the stairs and ran back to the house. Safely back in James' bathroom, we showered and James sat on the built-in bench and sucked me and swallowed my copious load. We got dressed and were lounging in the keeping room watching TV when Garrett and Ellen got back.

"Hey guys, come help us unload the car" Garrett called out.

Six cases of beer, two boxes of assorted alcohol and several sacks of groceries later, it looked like everything was set for the party.

"That's everything but the fireworks" Garrett said, then looked at Ellen, "we didn't stop for those."

"We'll go dad" James said. Garrett handed him a couple of bills and we went into the garage and uncovered the Aston.

James took off down the driveway and as soon as we hit the main road, he floored it; pinning me back into the seat.

"Zero to 60 in 4 seconds" he said over the roar of the engine.

We bought about $300 worth of fireworks, including a couple of big items, then headed back to the house. Now, all the preparations were made for tonight.

Maelstrom

At 8pm Garrett just gave up and left the gate open. All the family and friends had started filtering in around 7:30 and the entire paved area was filling up now. I hated crowds so I was taking my safety stance in the corner of the room, trying to blend in with the wallpaper. The only thing worse than the crowd was Ellen sitting beside me trying to life-coach me on how to handle the crowd. Luckily Garrett came over and took her away, then James took her seat. I tried to get him to stay with me, but he was a model social butterfly, so it only lasted a few minutes before he started drifting across the room. Danny came over and took his place, it was better than a total stranger but I didn't really know him either so it was still awkward. During a period when most of the crowd was toward the other side of the grand living room, I took the opportunity to sneak back into James's suite for some peace. I laid back on the bed and zoned out. I was almost asleep when somebody else came into the dark room and nearly sat on top of me.

"Excuse me" I said.

My company jumped and ran toward the door of the bedroom. I flipped on the lamp to find the kid I'd scared senseless standing by the door.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry..." he said.

"It's okay" I told him, "I was just trying to hide from that crowd out there."

"Me too" the boy said flatly.

"I'm Teddy" I said, he looked at me like I was an alien for a minute before responding.

"Keith" he said.

"Come on back in, you can share the quiet with me" I said. He was very hesitant, but finally seemed to make a decision and came over and sat on the edge of the bed beside me. He looked like he was probably 11 or 12. I stayed quiet to give him time to calm down.

"Are you Jimmy's boyfriend?" he asked me.

"Yes, I am" I said, "and who are you?"

"My mom is Aunt Ellen's sister" he said.

"So, you're one of Teddy's cousins" I said.

"Yeah, on the Marshall side" he said, "that's who most of them are."

"You don't like being in a crowd either, do you?" I asked.

"No. I'd rather be by myself or just a few people. I don't like the loud rumbling noise that doesn't stop" he said. I knew what he meant.

"Yeah. I know. It all gives me a headache" I told him; he nodded in agreement. We continued to chat for a while about his mom Amelia and his dad Adam Marshall. He had a little of an odd vibe to him, but I just chalked it up to anxiety from the crowd and me being a stranger. He got quiet, so I turned on the TV and we watched some show that was on the Cartoon Network; I'd never seen it but he seemed to like it. I was sitting propped against the headboard about half asleep when James came in; Keith had crawled up next to me and was out like a light. At some point, I guess James finally noticed I was missing from the party and came to look for me.

"Wow! You are special!" he said, standing at the foot of the bed.

"Why? What did I do now?" I asked.

"Keith is on the spectrum; he doesn't have much to do with many people" he said. I shrugged my shoulders.

"He seems more or less normal to me. We talked about the party and how he's related to you, normal stuff, before he petered out on me" I said, smoothing the kid's hair.

"He talked to you? Dude, he doesn't talk to anybody but his mother. He's said hello to me maybe twice before" he sounded amazed. I was beginning to see what the big deal was, but it was still hard to believe; Keith had seemed like a normal kid to me.

"I don't know? Maybe I just have a way with kids" I said.

"Hold that thought" James said, "I'll be right back."

He came back in with a woman who was like Ellen, if she had been human. It was Keith's mother Amelia; Ellen's sister. She walked in and saw us, as James quietly told her what I'd told him.

"Teddy, God blessed you with something; you should nurture it" she said, then asked me to tell her everything he'd said to me. I think she was still in disbelief that he'd talked to somebody else. All the talking going on in the room had woken Keith up. He saw his mother and James standing there and dug in closer to me as if frightened.

"Hey baby, is that your new friend" she said to him calmly.

"Can I stay with Teddy, he don't like bunches of people either" he said.

"Sure, you can, as long as Teddy doesn't mind" she said. He looked up at me to see my reaction.

"Looks like you're my party buddy tonight" I said smiling. I could feel him relax.

"The reason I came in to begin with was to tell you we're about to go out and set off the fireworks, it's only 20 minutes till midnight" James said. I looked down at my party buddy.

"Do you like fireworks?" I asked. He nodded. "But I don't like the noise, I have to hold my hands over my ears" he said, "let's go find my coat, it's cold outside." He got up and waited for me. James and Amelia watched in amazement as he led me to the other room. He seemed normal to me; I was beginning to think they were putting me on. James told us to hold on, he went in the huge walk-in closet and rummaged around and found some earmuff style shooter's hearing protectors. He started to hand them to Keith; who quickly side-stepped behind me. I turned around to him and said "It's okay, James just found something for you to use so you don't have to cover your ears with your hands." He looked at the earmuffs for a minute before saying "thank you" very quietly. Then it was like he tuned out everybody in the room but me and insisted I come with him to get his coat. I could hear his mom and James whispering to each other as we walked out of the room.

Out in the field, I met a few other of James's cousins, including Keith's older sister Candace who was amazed as the others that he was allowing me to be his buddy. Danny, I'd already met earlier, came over with a small group of cousins and introduced them; I was overloaded with information, so I couldn't remember their names. When the fireworks started, I helped Keith adjust the muffs tight to his head to keep the noise to a minimum. He stood close to me with his fingers gripping the waistband of my jeans. We had the big countdown to midnight and James lit the artillery fuse on the count of three. Colors filled the sky as the beast unloaded all its balls of fire. I glanced over at Keith and saw he had a big smile on his face. All the pretty stuff was fired in the first 10 minutes or so and it was mostly the younger teenagers throwing firecrackers at each other. The party started breaking up shortly after that. I walked to the car with Keith, he handed me the earmuffs back and got inside. I was caught off guard when Amelia caught me up in a bear hug and said `thank you' into my ear. They took off and I saw Keith waving through the back window, I waved back and started into the house.

My phone dinged with a text message. It was from Bernie – Happy New Year! Wherever you are I hope you're happy. I never meant to hurt you and I hope we can still be friends.

I texted back – A toast to new starts! Happy New Year! I grabbed James and took a selfie of us in front of the Ballard mansion and sent it off.

Ding! – Damn, is that Terry?

I sent back – Yeah, but he goes by James now. He may be my soul mate.

Ding! – Then you know how I felt when I got with Victor. Congratulations! BTW – New Years in Spain! He sent a picture of him and Victor in front of what looked like the Alhambra.

"What was all that about?" James asked.

"Making peace with the past" I said.

Once everybody was gone and the property was secured, we finally went to bed. It was around 2 in the morning, and as soon as I hit the sheets I was out for the count.

Rinse and repeat

The last few days of break went by quickly. I did manage to get James started on getting in shape, although his whining was almost unbearable. He hated to get out of bed early, and 5:15 was killing him. I ran him all the way to the end of the driveway then back around the stable and house in a kind of loop. We made five laps before he quit on me. I told him he might as well get used to it. The reward for the run, at least once we got back on campus, would be working out at the gym for an hour or more. He groaned.

Danny gave us a ride back to school, and even helped us get my things out of storage. The nice thing was when we went back for move-in day, we had been assigned a one-bedroom instead of a studio. The thing I wasn't so sure about was the fact that Bernie and Victor were two doors down from us. That meant we'd be sharing space with them. I hoped that it wouldn't turn into a problem.

It didn't take long to get back in the swing of things. A couple of weeks into the semester James began to get up without drama and we were hitting the streets for our morning run. At first, we tried to pace ourselves to stay away from Bernie and Victor, but it seemed hopeless, so we finally became a foursome on our runs and workouts. In the gym, I could see why Bernie was attracted to Victor. When Victor pulled his sweatshirt off and wiped down with it, he looked like a fricking sasquatch; I was checking out the way the dark tufts of hair disappeared into his sweatpants when James elbowed me in the ribs.

We went to the campus clinic as soon as we got back and got tested for everything including HIV and all tests came back negative. We marked the occasion exactly the way you would have guessed. Spring break was approaching, we didn't want to go back to either of our parents' places again this quick so we stayed on campus the first few days. Bernie and Victor had rented a condo in Panama City Beach for a four-day weekend and invited us to come; the other guys who were supposed to split it with them had bailed and headed to Myrtle Beach instead. We took them up on them up on the offer and all four of us boarded the charter bus. I know, I swore we'd never ride a bus again, but this was a completely different experience from the Greyhound; it was (other than the crowd of loud assholes) awesome!

The condo they'd rented was right on the beach, 10 floors up. We checked in and went up to check out our quarters. There were two bedrooms, both had king sized beds; Bernie and Vic got the one that opened to the balcony. We changed into our swimsuits and got ready to hit the beach. All of us had standard board shorts and loose tee-shirts with flip-flops. We did the normal stuff; played in the ocean, laid on the beach. When it got too hot, we went back up to the pool area. It was partially shaded so we went over and hung out in the corner of the pool until lunch time. Victor and Bernie wanted pizza but neither of us were in the mood for it, so we split up for lunch. We ended up at Sharky's having fresh seafood. We stayed out walking the strip for a couple of hours after that until we were both getting burned and tired. We hitched a ride with some frat bros back to our condo building.

When I opened the door, I stopped so fast James ran into me. I turned around and put my finger to my lips and we crept in quietly. Outside, on the balcony, my ex-lover was laying on his back on a chaise lounge having his ass destroyed by a very well-hung sasquatch. The dick had to be nine inches if it was anything at all and even from where we stood in the doorway it looked nearly thick as my wrist. Bernie was oblivious to anything around him; all he was doing was moaning and moving his head back and forth. Victor looked up and saw us and smiled; James gave him the thumbs up and dragged me into our bedroom where he stripped and threw his ass in the air for me. We were so worked up from watching our friends outside, that I made quick work of entering him and fucking the stuffing out of him. I was pounding his ass so hard I almost knocked him off the bed. He fell flat under me and I lay down fully on top of him and never stopped stroking until I was filling his ass up with a huge load. When he rolled over, he'd left a sticky load all over the sheets but he was still hard as dolomite. I spit in my hand and slicked my ass and sat on his still-hard cock and started riding him like pogo stick. I leaned back on my hands and rubbed my prostate with his cock until I busted my second nut, then he pulled out and jacked his second load into my mouth. We caught our breath, then went and took a shower. Afterward, I rinsed the cum out of the sheet and hung it over the shower door to dry.

When we went back into the living room, Victor was sitting on the couch in just a pair of cut-off shorts; the tip of his dick was peeking out from the edge of the left leg hole. His hair was still wet so he must have just showered. We sat on the sofa opposite him and chatted while Bernie finished his shower. He was walking kind of stiffly when he came in to join us. I could understand; he'd just had something the size of a Red Bull can up his ass. We sat and talked for a little while, and I was out-voted and dragged out to go hit the strip. Underage drinking is illegal in Florida. Spring breakers didn't seem to give a fuck. Everybody we passed had a bottle of something and they were more than willing to share. We quickly got shit-faced and in that state of mind, even I could enjoy the crowds. We didn't get back in until nearly three in the morning; we all drunk-stumbled into the condo and crashed.

I'd only been in bed about 30 minutes when I felt the booze start making its way back up. I jumped up and ran into the bathroom doorway, rubbed the new knot on my head, then knelt at the porcelain throne and refunded all the free liquor I'd gotten on the strip.

"Waatrr yuu doonnn?" my lover mumbled just before the smell hit him and he came running in and pushed me aside to repeat what I'd just done.

We were both covered in cold sweat and had vodka oozing from our pores. I dragged him into the shower and we stood under the warm water for a long time, then finally started cleaning each other off. When we got out I rinsed with mouthwash before I would even put my toothbrush into my mouth; my breath was that bad. I moved over to the toilet to let out some piss and it was so gold it was almost orange. That meant I was dehydrated from the alcohol. I went into the kitchen and got a glass of water and chugged it down, refilled it and drank that, then filled it one more time and somewhat more slowly downed that glass too. At that point I felt like I might be able to lay down again. I went back to the bedroom and saw James in the bathroom drinking from the sink faucet; I think he got the same idea I had. This time, at least partially rehydrated, we slept like the dead and it was early afternoon before we came to again.
