From the last chapter:
I stood there for what seemed like an eternity, waiting for the door to open. Then I heard the handle click and it opened.
There, in the door was he. Wearing blue jeans and dark red shirt, his spiky blonde hair crowned what had to be the most beautiful face I had ever seen. All of a sudden time stood still for me. 'Dale,' I thought, 'if this works I'm going to name my first born after you!' I found myself staring into his emerald green eyes that seem to pierce into my soul. It was then the smiled.
"Hi" He said as he ushered me into his casita.
Blind Date Chapter Two
He was about 3 inches shorter than me, and kept smiling at me as I walked in. I looked around the room and saw it was a huge double suite. There was a large living area with couches, tables and an entertainment center. Towards the back was a kitchen with an eating nook to its side. Between the living room and the kitchen were double doors on both sides that each leaded into a bedroom from what I could see from where I was standing. Up against the kitchen counter was another guy. He was a nice looking Italian type - about 6 foot with dark hair and eyes and a nicely trimmed goatee on his chiseled face. Attractive, but I hoped to myself that the guy that answered the door was James.
He walked over to me. "Hi, I'm Joey, you must be Mark, nice to meet you." As he stretched out his hand to shake it with mine.
"Hi there." I looked over at the Blonde that answered the door. He was still looking at me and smiling. 'Cool, this must be James then', I thought to myself.
Joey continued talking, "And this drooling fool," he nodded his head at James's direction, "is you're date for tonight, James." He grabbed a pillow and hit James on the back of the head with it.
"Huh, Oh, sorry. Hi Mark, I'm James. But you can call me Lance - that’s my middle name and everyone calls me by that." He shook my hand. "Sorry if I was staring, you weren't what I was expecting and it caught me off guard."
"Oh" I said disappointingly. 'Guess he doesn't like me.' As I thought to myself and lowered my head.
Lance must have picked up on my disappointment. "Oh, I didn't mean it that way. You're just better than what I had expected. Please, come in, sit down. Can I get you anything?" He started to walk back to the kitchen.
"Some water would be nice." As I sat down on one of the couches. Joey proceeded to sit in the couch opposite of me. I could tell he was checking me out, not in that he's interested in me way, but in the wonder if he's good enough for my friend kind ofway.
"So what do you do Joey? Are you an artist too like Lance?" I figure I might as well break the ice.
Lance started to laugh as he walked from the kitchen. "What sort of music do you listen to Mark?" As he handed me a glass.
"Thank you." I took a sip. "Well I listen to all sorts actually, everything from Chris Isaak and Harry Connick to 3 Doors Down to Ben Folds Five. But I love Trance 'n Techno."
Lance smiled. "Do you ever listen to groups like N'sync?"
I noticed that both Lance and Joey had these big grins on their faces. "Not really, I'm sure I've heard them on the radio before, just never followed them."
Lance looked at Joey, who nodded at him. Lance then sat down next to me. "Well, Joey and I are more musicians than artists. We're part of N'sync." He had a little look of worry on his face as he looked at me.
"That’s cool." I replied.
Lance looked a little more worried with a mixture of confusion.
"Hey, I kinda figured something was up. I mean the Biltmore, the herd of hormones outside the lobby, buttercup, and the big guy that brought me here. I knew something was up." As I smiled and gave him a comforting pat on the back.
Joey laughed and nodded approvingly; Lance had this look of relief as he sat back against the couch.
"So you still want to go out with me?"
I smirked, "That depends, who am I going out with? James the artist from Mississippi, or Lance, from N'sync adored by millions of horny teenagers?"
Lance blushed till he was beat red. "Does it matter?"
"Not really, I just thought you needed to sweat a little." As I flashed a big grin and started to laugh.
Joey burst out laughing as he got up and walked to one of the bedrooms. "You and Lance will get along just fine! I'll leave you two lovebirds alone." He closed his door just as a couple of pillows thrown by Lance flew through the air.
"So what did you want to do tonight?" Lance turned to ask.
"Well I had thought we could get something to eat and maybe go see a movie, you know, you're cliché blind date. But I'm thinking we'll have to figure something else out."
"Not really, if we do it right and not draw attention to ourselves, we can still do that. Where did you have in mind for dinner?"
"Well I was thinking of my favorite restaurant, Monti's. You'll love it, it’s the oldest restaurant in the state, since 1871." As I beamed proudly and smiled.
"Sounds good, we'll do that and then just play the rest by ear." Lance patted my knee, then left his hand on it.
I sat there enjoying his touch on my knee, thinking about how much he might like me, until…. "SHIT!!!" I yelled with a startle.
"What's wrong?"
"I parked my Jeep with the Valet. We're going to have to pass all those girls to get to it."
Lance just smiled, "You have the claim ticket?"
I pulled it out and handed it to him. He then got up and walked over to the phone, picked it up and dialed. "Lonnie? Can you have the valet bring a car around for us? Ticket number 357. Thanks." He hung up, turned back to look at me. "Problem solved." As he smiled. I was really starting to love that smile of his.
We walked out to where the Valet had brought my Jeep. The big guy that escorted me, Lonnie I found out his name was, followed. He told me that he put a pass inside my front window that would allow us to drive back up to Lance's casita when we came back. I thanked him and hopped in the Jeep. Lance was already inside and he watched me climb in and we drove out to Monti's.
We talked a little about my jeep and the city on the way over. And we walked into the restaurant. I looked up and there was Jenny at the counter.
"Hey Mark! Not used to you coming in on a Tuesday." She looked down at her podium. "You're normal table is free, you want that?"
I smiled and looked at Lance, he seemed amused. "Actually, could we get a private room? We'd like to dine in private. Oh, and if possible, can Jason wait on us?"
She looked at the podium again. "Sure, not a problem." And we followed her to our table.
"I'm impressed!" Lance said as he gave me a poke in the side with a smirk.
"Well it helps to be a regular, I'm here at least once a week." I grinned at him. "Not everyone has to be a pop star to get good service!" He laughed and gave me a playful push.
"So who's Jason and why'd you want him to wait on us?" Lance asked coyly.
"He's cool, he's gay too, but closeted, I thought that might be good considering who I'm with mister big boy-band pop star." I giggled and dodged him before he could give me another playful push.
Dinner was enjoyable. I had the Large Filet Mignon, with rice and salad, and Lance had the full rack of BBQ Baby Back Pork Ribs with fries and salad. We chatted so much dinner took over 2 hours to finish. I told him all about how I grew up all over since my dad was a Marine, about my 4 ex-boyfriends; he told me about Mississippi and life on the road touring, how he came out to the group, how hard its been for him to meet guys. We talked like we had known each other for years. I felt so comfortable with him and I got the feeling that he felt the same.
We finished dinner and wandered back out into the parking lot. Lance looked over and saw the Tempe Town Lake and sighed. "Look how nice the moonlight looks on the water."
I smiled, "Want to go for a walk?"
"What, along the lake? I'd love to, but look at all the people down there." He pointed down to the Tempe Beach Park along the south side of the lake. There were quite a few people wandering along the lake, some renting paddleboats and enjoying something from the vendors that were selling treats.
"Well let's go to the north side, no one goes over there." I grabbed his hand and dragged him over to the Jeep and we drove over to the north side.
We parked near the Mill Ave. Bridge and walked down to the water's edge. The lake was a 2 mile man made one built inside a dry riverbed - well dry most of the time except when Arizona got the rare storm that floods, with winding sidewalks and grassy knolls along the north and south side. Most of the shops and restaurants were along the south side so there are very few people along the north side.
We started walking along the lake talking about different things. We hadn't passed or seen anyone on the north side, it was just us. Lance reached over and grabbed my hand and our fingers intertwined. He gently pulled me over to a small grass knoll that was nearby and we laid down into the grass. He looked into my eyes and I gazed back into the pools of emerald green that looked back at me. I knew I was in love.
He cuddled up to me as we sat there looking at the stars and the occasional plane that was flying into Sky Harbor Airport. We must have cuddle there in blissful silence for a while. My arms wrapped around him with his head resting against my chest.
Lance finally broke the silence, "Mark, would you like to come to the concert tomorrow? We could get something to eat afterwards."
I sighed, feeling happy that he asked me out for another date, but sad that I would have to decline. I looked down at him and saw him smiling up at me. "I would love to see you again, but I can't tomorrow, I have to work, and I won't get off till after your concert starts." It tore me up, I had finally met someone that I really liked, and I had to work instead of seeing him.
"Well what time do you get off work?" He asked as he sat up and turned around to face me.
"9pm"
"Well you can still come! We have a couple of opening acts tomorrow and won't even get on stage till about 9:45! Please! I really want to see you again." His gaze met mine. I swear those eyes just make me melt.
"Okay, I'll go. Just for you!" I smiled at him.
"Great!" He jumped up, "I'll make sure that your name's on the VIP list, you can just show up after work and pick up your passes and then after the show you can come back and meet the rest of the guys!"
He was jumping up and down all happy with a huge smile on his face. I was still lying down on the grass and started laughing.
"What's so funny?" Lance stopped jumping and just looked at me grinning.
"You look like one of those horny teenage groupies that I passed in the hotel lobby just then." I explained between breaths of laughter.
He jumped on top of me with a grin I didn't think could get any bigger, "So I'm a horny teenager huh?" With that he leaned into me, his lips gently pressed up against mine.
His soft lips felt like silk up against mine, I could feel the warmth of his body pressed on top of mine. I opened my mouth to moan in pleasure only to meet his moist tongue trying to find its way in, my tongue reached out to met his. They touched at the tips and began to try to wrap around each other. I felt a joy I had never felt before in 29 years. This moment seemed to hang in time as we explored each other's mouths with our tongues. As he pulled his head back from the kiss we both gasped for air. He tried to climb off of me; I reached my arms around him and held him tight.
"I'm sorry." Lance panted.
"For what?" I was perplexed.
"For being so forward."
"Oh, no, not at all, I enjoyed it" As I smiled up to him.
Just then we started to hear a group of people walking along the lake towards us. Jolting us back into reality. He got up from off of me, reached down and helped me up. We walked back towards the Jeep and started back for the hotel. While driving I let me right hand wander on top of where his was resting and we interlocked out fingers and just smiled at each other.
We pulled back into the hotel near his casita and walked in. Once the door was closed Lance turned back around to me, pushed me up against the door and kissed me. I hugged him tight as we stood there in each other's arms.
There was the sound of a throat clearing. I jumped to see Joey standing by his bedroom door beaming from ear to ear. My face burned red with embarrassment. I turned to look at Lance and his face looked as red as mine felt. Joey chuckled and walked into his bedroom and closed the door behind him.
"Let's go where we can have some privacy," Lance said as he guided me into his bedroom.
It was a large bedroom, much larger than the one in my apartment. A large king sized bed was up against one wall; there was a spacious sitting area on the other side of the room and a large armoire in front of the bed. Lance had let go of my arm and walked over to the armoire, opening it to reveal a large TV.
"You said you thought we'd have dinner and a movie, still up for that movie?"
"Sure."
He tossed me the remote. "You pick something and I'll get us some snacks and drinks."
He walked back out of the room, heading to the kitchen. I turned on the TV and started flipping through the pay-per-view channels seeing what's available. I settled on Scream 3. I hadn't seen that one before.
"So what movie?" Lanced wandered back into the room.
"Scream 3. I haven't seen it"
"Ooh, that’s cool. Here, I got some sodas and ice cream."
"Butter Pecan or Mint Chocolate Chip?"
"Butter Pecan, how'd you know?"
"Cause those are my two favorites." I smiled.
Lance laughed, "Butter Pecan, is my fav." He handed me a bowl and spoon and hopped up on the bed. "Care to join me up here?"
I smiled and hopped up next to him on top of the bed and we cuddled up, eating ice cream and watching the movie. "Mmmm, that was good." As I finished my ice cream and cuddled closer to him. Lance wrapped his arms around me and we continued to watch the movie. How the movie ended I don't know, I ended up falling asleep in Lance's arms.
Okay, there's chapter two! Hope you liked it as much as the first chapter. Thanks to everyone who emailed me after the first chapter. I was great getting input!
