Kevin closed the door and locked it. He was tired. It had been a stressful night, and he knew he'd pushed himself harder than he should have when he was working out this afternoon. Still, he'd enjoyed himself with Brian, Nick and Matt tonight. It wasn't often that he got an opportunity to just relax with the guys. It had been nice to be able to get to know Matt better.
Well, he had to call Joey before he could turn in. He'd promised he'd call when he knew what was going on, and he knew now. The problem was, he really couldn't tell Joey what happened tonight. It was really up to Matt to tell Joey that Matt was gay. And without being able to tell Joey about Matt, he couldn't tell him about Nick, nor could he explain why AJ or Howie had run off tonight. Still, he had to tell Joey something. He knew Joey was worrying about Matt, and probably about Nick. It sure would have been easier if Joey had been here tonight.
Actually, it was surprising that Joey hadn't insisted on coming here with Matt. It just wasn't like him not to come along and make sure Matt was okay. Well, he could ask Joey why he hadn't come along at least.
He went over and sat on the bed. He picked up the phone, and dialed Joey's number. It rang quite a few times. Kevin was almost ready to hang up when Joey answered it. "Hello?"
"Hi Joey. Did I call at a bad time?"
"Hi Kevin." Joey sounded a bit out of breath. "I just got back from taking Andy home, and had to run to catch the phone."
"You've been out with Andy? How's he doing?"
"He's okay. You know, he's really a lot of fun to hang out with. I guess never expected that."
"That's good."
"So, what happened at dinner? Did you find out what's going on?"
"Yeah, I did." Kevin said. He thought for a moment. Yeah, Matt had said that Joey knew he was here. "Why didn't you come here with Matt? That would have been nice. I'm surprised you didn't tag along."
"So, you saw Matt?" Joey asked. Well, at least he didn't have to keep that a secret anymore. "That's good. I offered to come, but Matt didn't want me to. It probably would have been a bit awkward for him. Is he okay?"
"Yeah, Matt seems to be really happy." Kevin remembered how Matt had stood up for Nick when Howie had challenged him tonight. "You know, I was really impressed with him tonight. He knows what he wants and he really stood up for it. He wasn't prepared to take any crap from anyone." Kevin laughed. "He looked like he was ready to take me on if he had to."
"Really? What did he do?"
"Well, I can't really give you the details. I think you need to talk to Matt about it. You know, you've got a very special brother. We spent a few hours talking tonight after dinner. It was really nice to get to know him."
"Yeah, he is special." What had happened at dinner? "Didn't dinner go smoothly?"
"No, not really. Howie and AJ have run off somewhere. I'm sure they'll come back, and we'll work it all out eventually. I'm not going to worry about that now. I think they just need some time to figure things out."
"Howie and AJ ran off? Why would they do that? Is Nick okay then?"
"Nick is fine now. He had a rough time with Howie and AJ, but he's okay now thanks to Matt. He was joking around when we were talking after dinner. I haven't seen him this happy for a long time."
"Well, what was Nick's problem?" Why wouldn't Kevin tell him what was really going on? This was frustrating. Joey thought that Matt and Nick were probably a couple, but nobody would confirm it for him.
"Would you stop asking hard questions? Matt told you what he knew before he left, didn't he?"
"Yeah."
"Did you know Nick was suicidal?"
"Yes. That was what really upset Matt."
"Well, Nick is fine now. Matt knew what to do to help him. He's really happy now."
"Can't you tell me what really happened tonight?"
"What do you think? You didn't tell me that Matt was here, did you? I wish I could tell you all about it Joey, but I can't. You really need to talk with Matt first. Matt will fill you in when he gets home I'm sure."
"All right. I guess I understand. So, are you okay?"
"Why wouldn't I be? I'm a bit tired, but I'm okay."
"You're still okay with Nick?"
"Sure. Why wouldn't I be? He's been through a lot of crap recently, and frankly, he's been a royal pain. But I think all that is over now. He's grown up a lot. All I care about is that he's happy. And he really does seem to be happy."
"I'm glad to hear that Kevin."
"Really, I'm okay. So long as Nick is happy and the group sticks together, I'm happy." Kevin yawned. "Listen Joey, I should get to bed, before I fall asleep here."
"Okay. Thanks for calling me back."
"Sorry I couldn't answer all your questions."
"It's okay. I understand. I'll wring all the gory details out of Matt when I get my hands on him. I'll talk to you soon."
"Okay. Good night."
Joey hung up the phone, and sat for a minute. Well, Kevin seemed to think everything was under control now. Matt had said the same thing earlier, so he could probably relax now. Still, it was frustrating. As hard as he'd tried, Joey couldn't get anyone to confirm what he thought was going on. Joey was pretty sure that Matt and Nick were together now. He really didn't care about that, but he really didn't want to screw things up with Matt by saying the wrong thing. The last thing he wanted to do now was mess up his friendship with Matt.
Well, he'd just have to take their word for it, and assume that everything was okay. Just what had happened at dinner? Had Matt and Nick told the rest of the guys about them? Why would they do something like that? He couldn't think of any other reason why Howie and AJ would have run off, unless they didn't approve of Matt and Nick. But that was all pure speculation if he didn't know for certain that Matt and Nick were a couple.
He sure understood how Kevin had felt before. This was frustrating. How was he supposed to figure out how to deal with his parents, if he didn't know what was going on? He knew he could count on Kevin to keep things under control there, but what was he supposed to do when Matt got back? There'd be questions, and he had no idea what the answers should be.
At least Kevin seemed to be okay with everything. It would have been really bad if he'd had a problem with all of this. Joey didn't think Kevin would have been bothered, but it was hard to be sure. Joey had almost asked Kevin point blank, but what would have happened if something else was going on? He'd wind up embarrassing Matt, and likely offending Kevin.
No, that was all speculation. He couldn't know for sure what was all going on without knowing if Matt and Nick were really a couple. Everything else depended on it.
Well, he'd just have to wait until Matt got home. Then, one way or another, he'd get Matt to tell him everything.
"They sure have a lot of cameras in this hotel" Matt said. He was looking up at the camera watching them in the elevator.
"Yeah." Nick said. "Too many."
Matt laughed. "Well, I guess they do a good job of keeping people under control."
The elevator stopped, and they got out. They made their way to the room, and Matt opened the door. He held the door for Nick, and then followed him into the room. He turned around to find the light switch. When he turned back, Nick suddenly picked him up.
"Oh, so you're in a big hurry tonight?" Matt said. He wrapped his arms around Nick's shoulders as he was carried over to the bed.
Nick sat on the bed, with Matt on his lap. He kissed Matt. "You're my hero" he said.
"What?" Matt said.
"You saved me. First, you saved me from killing myself. And now, you stood up to the guys when I couldn't. You're my hero."
Matt giggled. Nick kissed him again, and pulled Matt down onto the bed. After a moment, Matt sat back up. "Hang on. I want to talk to you first."
"Haven't we talked enough today?" Nick said.
"Yeah, but this is important."
Nick started to pull Matt down again. Matt resisted for a moment, then allowed Nick to wrap his arms around him. He settled on the bed beside Nick. Nick started rubbing Matt's back and shoulders.
"Nick, have you ever...I mean, have you ever been with anyone before?"
Nick's hands stopped. He shifted a bit, so he could look into Matt's eyes. "No, never. Last night was the first time."
"I guess I don't have to tell you that you were the first for me too." Matt said.
Nick hugged Matt, and said "I guessed that, from what you said before." Nick watched the expression on Matt's face. He could see this was important to him.
"Have you ever been with a woman?"
"Well, not really. I mean, I've dated. And kissed. And once things went a little more than that."
Matt's voice was quieter. "How much more?"
"Not much." Nick matched his voice with Matt. "A bit of groping. She wanted to do more, but I was afraid."
"Afraid of what?"
Nick didn't answer immediately. "Afraid I wouldn't be able to."
"Oh." Matt shifted his position, and snuggled up against Nick. "I don't think I'd be able to with a woman either."
"Have you ever tried?"
"No. Sure I've been out on dates, but I never did anything more than kiss her goodnight. I never really wanted to do more than that."
Nick watched Matt's face. He could see something wasn't right. Matt seemed to be struggling with something. "Is something wrong?"
Matt looked, and saw Nick watching him. Matt looked away.
Nick tightened his grip, and held Matt. They stayed like that for a few minutes. Nick could feel Matt slowly relax.
"How do you know what to do?" Matt said very quietly.
"What to do? What to do about what?" Nick kept his voice quiet.
It took almost a minute for Matt to respond. Nick just held him and waited. "How do you know what to do when we're together?"
Nick thought about this. Why was Matt so reluctant to ask this? "I don't know. I just do I guess. I just want to make you happy."
"You do make me happy. Just being here with you feels great."
Nick thought for a moment. He sensed that Matt wasn't really finished. He was still worried about something. Maybe he should volunteer something more. "I guess I learned about things mostly on the internet."
"You mean, you've been into some of those porn sites?"
"Yeah. It was the only place I could find anything. I couldn't go into a store and buy a magazine or something. On the internet, nobody can tell who I am."
"Oh." Matt pressed against Nick. After a moment, he leaned over and gave Nick a kiss. "I don't know what to do."
Nick smiled, and kissed Matt. "It doesn't matter. We'll figure something out."
"Are you sure? I feel so awkward..."
"You're so sexy." Nick said. Nick's hands resumed their exploration of Matt's back. Nick moved closer, and started kissing Matt again.
Matt looked surprised. "Me? I'm not sexy like you are. I'm just..."
"You are just plain sexy. Your voice, the way you sound when you say something serious sends shivers through me. You just feel so good to hold. And the way you smell."
Matt giggled. "I smell?"
"Yeah, the way you smell. I noticed that on your jacket that first day. I've dreamed about how you smell, how you feel, how you sound." Nick's hands moved now, opening the buttons on Matt's shirt, easing it off his shoulders. Matt sat up a bit, to make it easier. Then the t-shirt followed. Gazing up at Matt's chest, Nick reached up and pulled him back down.
Lips found lips, lips parted, and a tongue found a tongue. Eagerly, hungrily, Nick tasted Matt. His hands roamed over Matt's bare back, feeling the strength, the power in those muscles. Nick's mind was quick to supply the remembered vision of Matt's back, as his hands felt each muscle. He could smell that wonderful fragrance that was Matt. Nick could feel his own hardness, trapped in cloth, Matt's weight pressing against it.
Matt was lost in the sensation. That wonderful sensation called Nick. The cool air against his bare back contrasted with the warmth of those hands. Those hands. The hands from his dream. One hand started moving lower, toward the waistband. The other held him, pressing him against Nick. The hand moved around, fumbling with his pants. Matt shifted, and helped with the task of removing his pants. Then he set about releasing Nick from his pants as well. He wanted to feel flesh on flesh.
Nick rolled over on top of Matt. One hand was trapped, pressed against Matt's back. Matt's hands were quick to push Nick's pants down. Nick could feel Matt's arousal beneath him. Flesh pressed to flesh, that wonderful friction. Nick thrust his tongue into Matt's mouth, sharing breath. Savoring the flavor.
Matt felt the solid weight of Nick as he rolled on top of him. He marveled in that glorious friction as Nick pressed against him. He moved his hands down, grasping at hips, trying to increase the pressure. Matt felt Nick's hands, as they moved ever lower along his back, until they reached his cheeks. He felt Nick's growing urgency, as his thrusts grew stronger. Those hands moved, and the kiss broke. Breath came in gasps. Blood pounded in his head. Then he felt the warmth, as Nick released his cum between their bodies. He opened his eyes, and saw Nick's beautiful face, contorted in pleasure. That did it, and he released as well. The sight of Nick's pleasure was just too much.
They lay together for a minute, regaining their strength. Their breath slowed, and pounding hearts grew quiet. Nick shifted, until he lay beside Matt on the bed. Matt's chest was suddenly cool, as Nick moved off. He could feel the pool of shared essence, slowly cooling where it lay on his stomach. Matt turned, and saw Nick watching him. He smiled and kissed Nick. "I love you."
"I never get tired of hearing that." Nick smiled. "I love you."
They lay there for a minute, sharing their warmth, just being together. Matt slowly shifted, and said, "I think I better get cleaned up."
Nick smiled. "Don't be long." he said.
Matt eased himself up, and stepped out of his pants. He felt Nick's eyes on him as he made his way into the bathroom. It didn't take long before he was cleaned up. He checked in the mirror, to be sure he still looked okay, before returning to Nick. "Nick?" Matt returned with a towel in his hand. Nick looked like he was asleep again! Or, maybe he was just pretending.
Matt walked over and took a good look at Nick. He leaned over and gave him a kiss. Nope, he really was asleep. Damn it. Two nights in a row.
Matt carefully cleaned Nick up. He wasn't even fully undressed. Oh, but he looked good. Matt could feel his growing arousal again. Well, okay. Maybe if he got Nick undressed for bed, he'd wake up. Matt lifted Nick's shoulders, and pulled his shirt off. Then he pulled his shoes, socks and pants off. It took a few minutes, but Matt managed to take all of Nick's clothing off.
He was still asleep. Damn it. Matt was hoping Nick would wake up, so they could continue what they had started. Well, Nick couldn't sleep here on top of the bed. Matt went over to the other bed, and pulled down the covers. Then he went back and picked up Nick. He was sure big, but Matt didn't have too much trouble. Those workout sessions with Joey had paid off. He walked carefully over, and put Nick into the bed. He still didn't wake up. Matt covered him up.
Well, what was he going to do now? He was still wide-awake. Well, maybe he'd go for a walk. It was bound to be really cold out there, but he could at least wander through the hotel. There might be something to do downstairs, or maybe there was a gym that was still open. That would be good. He could work out for a while in the gym.
Matt took a few minutes to get dressed again. Unlike Nick, he'd gotten mostly undressed, but it didn't take long to find his discarded clothing. He went into the bathroom to make sure he really looked presentable. Then he returned to the bedroom and took another look at Nick.
How could he stay angry with Nick? It had been a stressful night. It had been hard on Nick to tell the guys, and even worse when Howie and AJ said those nasty things. Nick looked so great lying there. Matt smoothed his hair, and watched him sleep for a minute.
Well, this wasn't going to help. Maybe he should write Nick a note, just in case he woke up. Nick had been really worried when he woke up alone this morning. There should be paper here somewhere. The night table? Matt opened the drawer and looked inside.
Sure enough, there was some notepaper there, with the hotel's logo on it. And a pen. But that wasn't the surprising part. There was a box of condoms in there! How had they gotten in there? That wasn't the same box that Joey had put into his suitcase either. It was a different brand.
And what was that? Oh, it was Nick's cell phone. Right. Now he remembered. Brian's note had said something about looking in the night table if they needed something. Brian must have put the condoms and cell phone here. Matt smiled. Brian really did care.
Matt put the condoms and phone onto the top of the night table, and then closed the drawer. He wrote a quick note to Nick, explaining where he was going. He propped the note against Nick's phone, so it would be visible. He picked up his phone, and took it with him. That way, if Nick was woke, he could call him.
Matt checked on Nick again. Still asleep. Damn it. He sighed, and got up. He checked to make sure he had the key card for the room before he left. The elevator arrived, and he rode it down to the lobby. He got out, and looked around. There really wasn't much here. A small bar, a restaurant, which seemed to be closed. A small shop that was also closed up for the night. Where was the front desk? Maybe they'd tell him whether he could use the gym at this hour.
As he walked over towards the front desk, he glanced into the bar. A waitress seemed to be trying to wake someone up. Wait. That was AJ! So, this is where he'd gone. Matt went into the bar, and walked over to the table. As he got closer, he saw Howie was there as well. Both were passed out, or sleeping or something.
"Have they been here all night?" he asked when he got close to the waitress.
"Yeah. They've been drinking too much. I probably shouldn't have kept serving them. I could lose my job for this." She turned and looked at Matt. "You're on TV aren't you?"
"Yeah. I'm Mathew Lawrence. These guys are from the Backstreet Boys. We don't want anyone to hear that they've been drinking."
"Oh, I'd never tell anyone."
"Good. They've got rooms in the hotel. If I can get them back there, they'll be okay."
"Oh, could you do that?"
"Sure. Hang on a minute. I'll call my friend and get him to come and help." Matt walked a few steps away, and called Nick.
The phone only rang twice before Nick picked it up. "Matt?"
"Hi Nick."
"Where are you? Why aren't you here?" Nick sounded worried.
"It's okay silly. I'm just down in the lobby. I went out for a walk when you fell asleep."
"Oh. I thought..."
"Don't worry. I need your help. I found AJ and Howie here in the bar."
"What? Did they do something to you?"
"No, it's nothing like that. They've been down here drinking, and they've both passed out. We need to get them up to their rooms. I can't do that by myself. Can you come and help?"
"Why not just leave them. After what they said tonight, they can just rot there."
"You don't mean that Nick. They are your friends. We need to help them out."
"I don't care. Let Kevin deal with them."
"Come on Nick. Won't you do this for me?"
"For you?"
"Yes, for me. Things aren't going to get any better if we start acting like they did. Come on. We need to get them up to their rooms."
Nick sighed. "Okay. I'll be down in a minute."
"Thanks Nick. I'll see you soon." Matt hung up the phone.
It didn't take too long before Nick arrived, looking like he'd just gotten up. However, he smiled at Matt when he arrived, and the two of them managed to get AJ and Howie back up to their rooms. They left them on top of their beds, without bothering to get them undressed. They'd probably be uncomfortable sleeping fully dressed like that, but neither Nick nor Matt wanted to undress them. They settled with removing their shoes, and covering them with a blanket.
The ride in the elevator back to their room was quiet. Matt led the way back to the room, and he opened the door for them. Once they were inside, and the door was locked, Nick said, "I'm sorry."
"What for?"
"You were right. We couldn't have left them down in the bar. It's just that..."
"You're angry with them." Matt said. Nick looked surprised. "They hurt you tonight."
"Yeah." Nick sighed. "I wish they could understand."
Matt hugged Nick. "They will. We just have to give them time, and not let anything they say hurt you."
"How do I do that? Howie said some pretty mean things tonight." Nick held onto Matt.
"Yes he did. But it wasn't really Howie. He wouldn't do that to you. He was just reacting the way he's been conditioned to react by society. Just remember that. When he says those things, it's not the real Howie talking. Howie your friend wouldn't hurt you like that."
"Thank you. I love you Matt."
"I love you too Nick. Come on. I think it's time we went to sleep."
They separated, and got undressed for bed. No words were needed. They just snuggled up in the bed, and were soon fast asleep in each other's arms.
To be continued...
