Nick led the way out of the steamy bathroom. Matt paused for a moment, gathered up Nick's discarded clothes, then joined him in the bedroom.

"You don't need to do that." Nick said.

"I know. This is your outfit from the show--don't they need to clean it for the next show?"

"Oh. I guess you're right. I forgot that I didn't get changed after the show."

"You get into bed. I'll join you in a minute." Matt took the damp clothes and hung them over the back of a chair so they could dry. Then he went back to the door, and found Nick's jacket. That went on another chair.

"Aren't you coming to bed?" Nick yawned.

"Just a minute." Matt picked up the key card for the room and the note from the floor where he'd dropped it in his haste to get to Nick earlier. He opened the door far enough to put a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the doorknob. He didn't want a maid to wake them up in the morning.

He surveyed the rest of the room. There was a dresser by the door, along with a small closet. Someone had unpacked Nick's clothes and put them into the dresser. Matt had put his suitcase on top of the dresser before, so he put the sweater, t-shirt and jeans he'd worn today in a pile beside it. He found his jacket on the floor by the bed, and hung it up in the closet.

There were two queen-sized beds in the room. The one closest to the door was where they'd wrestled before. It looked a bit mussed up. Nick was in the second bed. Beyond the beds were a couple of chairs and a couch, clustered facing the window. The TV was down there as well. That seemed like a strange arrangement. Matt walked over to the window, and took a quick look outside. Hey--the window didn't open outside. It opened into the stadium. Matt could see a small balcony out there. He could have watched the concert from the room!

Well, enough exploring for now. He turned and looked at Nick. He was sprawled on his back in the bed. He seemed to be having trouble keeping his eyes open. "Sleepy?" Matt asked quietly.

"Mmm" was the only reply.

Just then, Matt's cell phone started ringing. Where was it? In his jacket, in the closet. Matt went over and found his phone. "Hello?"

"Hi Matt. It's Brian. Is Nick okay?"

"He's great." Matt couldn't help himself. He just had to smile.

"Okay. I just wanted to check in. I'll talk to you tomorrow."

"Okay. Good night." Matt hung up the phone. He went around and turned all the lights off, except for the one beside the bed. He put his phone down on the night table, so it would be easy to find if Brian called again. Then he slid into bed beside Nick.

Nick looked so peaceful and relaxed. Between the emotional turmoil of the last few days and the concert tonight, he was clearly exhausted. Matt gave him a quick kiss, turned off the light, and then snuggled up beside him. He rested his head on Nick's smooth chest, and listened to his slow, even breathing. Matt had never been this content or happy before. It just felt so right to be here with Nick. Sleep came easily.

Brian put down his cell phone, and sighed. Well, that was good. Maybe he'd be able to get a bit of sleep tonight, since Matt was looking after Nick. He was exhausted. With Nick in such a bad state, he hadn't had much time for sleep.

There was a knock at the dressing room door. He got up and opened it. "Oh, Hi Kevin."

"Hi." Kevin came into the room, and closed the door. "What the hell is going on with Nick?"

"I, uh, I think you should ask Nick."

"Okay, where is he?"

"At the hotel."

"Without you? How come you suddenly are allowing him out of your sight?"

Brian just sighed. "Listen cuz, I really can't answer that. I'm sure he'll be okay tonight. I really can't say anything more than that."

"Okay, then get changed and we'll go and see him."

"Not tonight. I'll try and set something up for tomorrow, but I told him I'd leave him alone tonight."

Kevin really didn't look happy. He wasn't used to having Brian evade him like this. "Why not? What's going on?"

"Tomorrow. I'm exhausted. Please Kevin, let's leave it until tomorrow."

Brian really was exhausted. He looked like he was ready to pass out here. "I'm sorry Brian. I didn't realize. I guess you've had a rough time with Nick. Come on, let's get you changed, and back to the hotel."

With Kevin's help, Brian managed to get changed. On their way out, Brian grabbed Nick's clothes. They rode back to the hotel together, and Kevin took Brian up to his room. Brian was almost too tired to be grateful for the help. He was asleep before Kevin had left the room.

Nick woke to darkness. It took a moment before he realized that Matt was pressed against him. Matt's head was resting on his chest. Nick could smell the essence that was clearly Matt. It was that same smell he remembered from Matt's jacket. It was so comfortable here that he never wanted to move.

Except, he really needed to use the bathroom. Now. Slowly, being very careful not to wake Matt, he extracted himself from Matt's embrace. He slid a pillow under Matt's head, and almost fell out of the bed. Matt must have pushed him to the edge of the bed. Nick smiled. Matt was here! He was really here! Nothing could make this better.

Bathroom. Quickly. He picked himself up off the floor, and went and used the bathroom. When he returned, he slipped into the bed on the other side. He slid over and snuggled up close behind Matt. He drew Matt into his arms, and rested his head behind Matt's neck. Matt was so warm, so comfortable. Their bodies just fit together. Sleep returned.

Matt slowly became aware of his surroundings. He felt Nick's breath on his neck, warming him. Nick's arm was around him, and his body rested against his back. Last night had been incredible. Today would be better. He knew they still had things to talk through, but he was sure Nick would be okay now. He had to be.

Matt slowly raised his head and tried to find a clock. What time was it anyway? The room was a bit brighter now than it had been last night. He could hear someone out in the hallway outside the room. Maybe that was the maid?

Boy, he was starving! Now that he thought about it, he'd only eaten lunch yesterday on the plane. One meal just wasn't enough. He felt like he could eat two breakfasts.

He hated to disturb Nick, but he just had to find something to eat. And brush his teeth. He didn't want Nick to kiss him like this. Yes, brushing his teeth was the first priority.

He slowly untangled himself from Nick, and slid out of the bed. He turned at looked at Nick. He looked so peaceful there, so content. He covered Nick up with the blankets, so that he wouldn't get cold without him. He smoothed that beautiful hair that was spread out over the pillow. After a moment, he went over and got his shaving kit out of his suitcase, and then went into the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror while he brushed his teeth. His hair looked sort of messy. He ran his fingers through his hair and tried to get it under some degree of control. It was uncooperative, so he resorted to using a comb and a bit of water on it. That did the trick.

Satisfied that he looked mostly presentable, he left the bathroom. Nick was still sound asleep. His stomach reminded him that he was very hungry. The TV turned out to have a clock built in. It was just past eleven o'clock. That meant they'd gotten almost twelve hours of sleep last night. Well, maybe he'd order something for breakfast, and let Nick sleep until it came. He found the hotel phone, and called room service to order breakfast for them both. He probably ordered too much, but the way he felt at the moment, he'd probably eat it all by himself.

Getting dressed was next. He couldn't answer the door naked. He found a pair of pants and a t-shirt, and put them on. He took another look around the room. It was pretty clean except for Nick in the bed. Matt went over and gathered up Nick's clothes from the chair. He folded them up, and put them over by the door, so they could get them cleaned for the next concert. Matt then sat on the other bed, and watched Nick sleeping for a moment. He was beautiful. That was the only word for it.

Just then, there was a soft knock on the door. Matt got up and went over to the door. Peeking through the peephole, he saw a distorted looking person. Brian? He opened the door. "Hi Brian." He held the door open, and Brian walked into the room. Brian had a bag with him.

"Good morning. I didn't want to wake you, but I figured you'd probably be up by now." Brian said.

"I was, but Nick is still sleeping." Matt smiled. "I think I wore him out last night."

Brian looked around the room. "Then you're..."

Matt looked at Brian. "We're in love Brian. He's the most perfect..."

Brian laughed quietly. "Well, he's not perfect. But you'll figure that out for yourself. I'm glad. I hope you can make him happy. He's had such a rough time recently."

After a moment, Brian held out the bag, and said, "Here are the clothes Nick was wearing before the show. He didn't get changed after the show..."

"Yeah, we were in a bit of a hurry" Matt said smiling. "Thanks. What should we do with his outfit from the show? It really needs to be cleaned."

"I'll take it. They were asking where it was."

Matt was suddenly uncomfortable. "Brian, I...I want to thank you for calling me. If you hadn't..."

"Then we'd both be in trouble. I'm really glad you could help him."

They were both silent for a moment. "Listen, the guys are asking questions. I haven't told them anything yet, not even that you're here. I can't keep on doing that. We need to tell them something."

Matt thought for a moment. "Well, I don't see any reason not to tell them about Nick and me, but it's not my decision. It's Nick's. I only told you because I thought you'd already figured it out for yourself."

"Well, I was pretty sure when you asked for the room, but I wasn't sure until today. You're right though. This has to be Nick's decision."

"Matt?" There was fear and pain in that cry.

Matt ran over to Nick. "Shhh. I'm here Nick." Matt smoothed the hair out of Nick's face. "I'm here."

Nick's eyes opened, and he saw Matt. He pulled Matt down and held him. "I...I thought you were a dream."

"No Nick. I'm really here." Matt hugged him.

Matt could feel the tears on his shoulder. Nick was really afraid. Well, that made sense after all of the stuff Nick had been through these last few days. Matt just held him for a bit. Matt had forgotten all about Brian, until he heard Brian clear his throat.

"Morning Nick." Brian said.

Matt wasn't expecting Nick's reaction. He started to sob uncontrollably, holding as tightly as he could to Matt, trying to hide. "What's wrong Nick? What's wrong?" Nick just continued to cry.

Brian took a guess. "Nick? It's okay. I know about you and Matt. It's okay."

Matt suddenly understood. Nick was afraid that Brian wouldn't accept them. That was what he'd meant when he told Brian he'd miss him--he was afraid Brian would reject him now.

Nick just seemed to be crying harder now. Matt was finding it difficult to breathe. "Nick. Listen to me. Brian is still here. He knows that we love each other. I told him, and he's still here. He's not going to abandon you. I'm not going to abandon you. I love you. We can get through this. You have to trust me. Believe me. It'll be okay."

Nick slowly relaxed, and gradually the sobbing stopped. Matt just held him, gently rocking him until he was calm again.

Nick sat up a bit, and then stole a look at Brian. "You don't hate me?" He sounded like a little child, so helpless and afraid.

Brian smiled gently, and said, "How could I ever hate you? You're the best friend I've ever had. I'm still your friend. Always. No matter what."

Nick remembered all too well. "What about your church? I thought you wouldn't want to be near me because..." Nick's tears started again.

"Oh Nick. I don't know about the church. I'll have to think about it, but I know I'm not going to stop being friends with you. That's not going to change."

They heard a knock on the door, and faintly heard someone say "Room Service".

Seeing that Matt had his arms full of Nick, Brian said, "I'll get it."

"Thanks" Matt said. He rocked Nick, holding him until the tears stopped again. He heard Brian open the door, talk briefly with whoever was out there, then the door closed again.

"Are you sure there's just the two of you? There's enough food here for an army!"

Matt heard Nick's quiet giggle, and knew he was okay for the moment. Nick released him, and sat back a bit. Matt looked at him, and smiled. "Are you okay?"

Nick sniffed a bit. "Yeah, I think so."

"Good, because I'm starving. I only had airline food yesterday, and I think I'm going to need lots of energy to keep up with you today."

Nick giggled again. "I'm hungry too. I don't think I've eaten much recently."

"You're right Nick. It was all I could do to get you to eat anything. However, I don't think even you and Matt can eat all of this."

"Well, we'll just have to try." Matt said. "Come on, get out of bed before it all gets cold."

"But, Brian..." Nick said.

Matt looked surprised. "You're suddenly bashful? You weren't bashful last night." Nick looked away, and started to blush. "Okay, okay. I'll get you a robe." Matt got up and went into the bathroom. He found one of the hotel bathrobes, and returned to Nick. "Here. Brian look away for a moment, will you? Nick is suddenly acting like a blushing bride."

Brian giggled, which caused Nick to blush even harder. Matt held the robe for him, as Nick got out of bed. When Nick was up with the robe properly secured, he went into the bathroom. He emerged a few minutes later to find Matt sitting at the table pouring coffee for the two of them. Brian was sitting on the couch, with his own cup of coffee. Matt was plainly waiting for him before he was going to start eating.

Nick hurried over to the table, and gave Matt a kiss. "You didn't have to wait for me."

Matt chuckled. "No, I didn't. But I wanted to." Matt started to uncover the food, passing some to Nick and taking others for himself.

"How'd you know what I wanted?" Nick asked.

"Well, I didn't. I just ordered what you ate that morning in LA."

Nick looked surprised. "You remembered after all this time?"

"Sure. Some things are important to remember."

"Uh, guys." Brian said. Nick and Matt looked at him. They'd forgotten he was still here. "You guys really don't want a chaperone."

"Oh, right. We need to ask Nick what to tell the other guys." Matt said.

"What?" Nick was back on guard again, suddenly tense.

"Kevin, AJ and Howie are pestering me to tell them what's happened," Brian said "Your behavior has been rather strange you know. Yesterday before the show, you were a basket case. Then you're suddenly happy and put on a great show. Then you disappear before the show is over, and they can't find you. They're worried. They don't even know that Matt is here. They have no idea what's going on."

Nick gulped. "Yeah, I guess." Matt reached across the table and held Nick's hand.

"Well, I thought maybe we could all get together for dinner." Nick tightened his grip on gripped Matt's hand.

"Nick, I think we should tell them about us. We've got to tell them something." Matt said.

Nick looked at Matt and slowly said, "Do we have to?"

"No, we don't have to. I think we should, but we don't have to."

"We've got to tell them something," Brian said.

Matt nodded. "It's your decision Nick. Whatever you think is best is okay with me. They are your friends."

There was silence for a moment, and then Brian said, "I don't know what we could tell them other than the truth. Somehow, I don't think we can make up a story that'll hold up."

Nick sighed, and kept watching Matt. "Will you help?"

"Of course!" Matt said. "We'll do this any way you want to. If you want me to tell them, that's okay with me. We'll figure something out. Whatever you want."

Nick relaxed a bit, and gave Matt a small smile. "Okay, we'll do it at dinner. Brian, can we have dinner somewhere private?"

"Good idea," Brian said. "We don't want a public scene. How about we all meet in my room, and we'll order something in. That way we can talk without the world knowing about it."

They agreed to a time, and Brian told them his room number. Brian took Nick's clothes, and left them alone. It took them a while, but they managed to finish off all of the food Matt had ordered.

How the hell was he supposed handle things, if nobody would tell him what was going on? Kevin had tried to find Brian, but he wasn't in his room. He'd agreed not to talk to Nick until today, and now he didn't know where to find Nick, and Brian had disappeared too. This just wasn't going the way it was supposed to.

He really was glad that Nick seemed to be okay at the show yesterday, but he didn't know why he was suddenly better, so he didn't know whether this was going to happen again. Brian hadn't told him what the problem with Nick was, and Nick certainly hadn't said anything when he was watching him. Kevin knew that Brian had been really worried, but he didn't know why Brian had insisted on leaving Nick with him when he had to do something that he couldn't bring Nick along for. The whole thing was annoying and frustrating.

He'd even tried calling the front desk to find out what room Nick was in, but they didn't know. Kevin knew that Brian had put Nick into his room when they'd checked into the hotel, because of whatever had happened in Montreal. The rest of them had their own rooms. So, where the hell was Nick now?

What time was it anyway? Almost noon. Good. Joey will probably be up. Joey wouldn't know what's going on, but at least he would understand. Kevin went over to the phone, and dialed the familiar number. After a moment, it started to ring.

"Hello?" Joey said.

"Hi Joey. Did I wake you?"

"Hi Kevin. Nope, actually I was just going to call you. How are things?"

"Frustrating. I hate it when I don't know what's going on."

"What do you mean?"

"Oh, sorry. I forgot. We haven't talked for a while, have we? Well, something weird is going on with Nick. He was fine in Montreal, until the day we left. I don't know what happened, but he was like a zombie on the bus. He just sat there, ignoring everyone. He wouldn't talk, wouldn't answer anyone except Brian, and was a total basket case. He hasn't been any better here--you should have heard him at the concert on Sunday night. Then suddenly yesterday, just before the show, he snaps out of it. He put on a great performance, as did Brian. Then he leaves the show before it's finished, and disappears. I don't know what the hell is going on. I can't find him, and Brian won't tell me, and now Brian has disappeared too."

"Wow, that is strange. You'd think someone would let you know what was going on. It's hard enough to keep them under control without them pulling this kind of stunt on you."

Kevin sighed. "I knew you'd understand. The last time something like this happened, was just after we left LA. Hey, maybe Matt knows what's going on. Do you have a number for him? Maybe he'd tell me."

Joey didn't answer immediately. "I...uh...Matt is busy at the moment. He told me he had to go off somewhere today, and I don't think he'll be back until later. I don't know his cell phone number I'm afraid."

"He didn't give it to you? Nick won't give me his number either. What is it with them and their cell phones anyway?"

"I dunno. I can understand why they don't want everyone to know their phone number, but you'd think they'd give it to us."

Just then, there was a knock at Kevin's door. "Someone's at the door Joey. I'll call you back later, okay?"

"Sure. Wait until you know what's going on, so you can let me in on it. If Matt is involved, I want to know."

"I understand. Thanks." Kevin said.

"Okay, I'll talk to you later." Joey hung up the phone. Well, that answered that. It sounded like Matt had solved the problem with Nick. Joey hated not being able to tell Kevin what he knew, but he was sure Kevin would figure it out soon.

Joey had been up for over an hour, waiting and hoping that Matt would call. He was worried, and anxious to know how things had turned out. It wasn't like Matt not to call. Matt had to know that Joey was worried.

Maybe Matt was angry with him for putting the condoms into his suitcase? No, he didn't think Matt would get mad for that. Generally speaking, Matt was very stable emotionally--almost unnaturally so. He knew Matt had been wrestling some of his personal demons since Brian called, but it really looked like he'd figured things out when he left on the plane. Damn it, he really would like to talk with him.

Maybe he'd check in on Andy today. He was probably wondering where Matt had run off to without telling him. Well, at least that was something he could do something about. Joey picked up the phone, and called Andy. They'd have a good time together today, and Matt would call sometime. Even if Matt didn't call, Joey knew that Kevin would call him back when he got some answers.

Kevin hung up the phone, and went over to the door. Looking through the peephole, he saw what looked like Brian. He opened the door, and said, "There you are. I've been looking for you."

"Morning cuz" Brian said, as he walked into the room.

"Well, at least you look rested today."

"Yeah, I slept like a log. I haven't slept that well for a long time."

"So, are you going to tell me what's going on now?"

"Well, in a few hours. I've just seen Nick, and he's fine now. Better than ever actually. I got him to agree to come to dinner tonight. I thought we'd all get together in my room, and order something in. That way everyone can get their explanations at the same time."

"Why can't we just go and talk to Nick now? Why wait until dinner?" Kevin asked.

"He's been through a lot Kevin, and he needs some time to figure things out. Can't you wait until dinner?"

"I guess. If that's the best you can do."

"Sorry. You don't have to worry about Nick now. He really is okay."

"Thanks. Listen, I'm going to go to the gym and work out some frustrations. Do you want to come?"

"That sounds like a good idea. Give me a few minutes. I've still got to track down AJ and Howie, and tell them about dinner."

"You go after Howie, and I'll find AJ. I'll meet you back here in a few minutes, okay?"

"Sounds like a plan." Brian said.
