He was about to release when a voice immediately said, "No, no, no! The arrow has to be eye level. The feather should touch the tip of your ear."

"Easy for you to say," Kevin retorted, lowering the bow. "Your ears have pointed tips to help define your arrow flight."

Star rolled his eyes at Kevin. Kevin had been surprised to see that it was Star that had entered his dreams. He was also a bit shocked to find that Star had not borne a commanding demeanor, unlike his brother Hope. When he had told Star, Star had laughed and arrogantly said "Well of course! A Ranger's job is to be humble. Be proud of that" before bursting into light laughter that caused Kevin to laugh as well.

Kevin stood shirtless in the sweltering afternoon heat wearing only a pair of tight, brown cotton three-quarter pants. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked at Star, who was dressed in dark blue and green leather armour. Star was not sweating at all, even with his armour on.

"So how's it done?" Kevin asked his new teacher. Star grabbed his own bow and nocked an arrow with a topaz arrowhead, unlike Kevin's arrows which were just sharpened sticks of wood with a feather at the back.

"Here, follow my movements," Star said, pulling an arrow back until the shaft was aligned with his eye and the feathered tip touching his ear. Kevin imitated his actions exactly. Star released the arrow, which flew straight into the bulls-eye. "Your turn," he said. Kevin took aim at the bulls-eye and released the arrow. Unlike Star's perfect shot, Kevin's arrow somehow got entangled with his bowstring and the pointed end of the arrow shot towards the ground, impaling the toe of Kevin's boots. Luckily for Kevin, the arrow had shot in between his big toe and second toe, causing him no harm and Star plenty of chuckles. Kevin grumbled and bent over to pull the arrow out of his boot, but immediately stopped when he heard an enormous ripping sound. Kevin reached a hand behind and realised that his pants had ripped, exposing his pale-skinned buttocks. Star's laughter increased volume and the elf was doubled over in pain and laughter. Kevin groaned and slammed his bow on the ground, or would have slammed the bow on the ground if the bowstring had not entangled his arm. He tried to untangle himself from the string when he heard a snapping sound. The slightly elastic bowstring snapped down like a whip, hitting Kevin's groin, hard enough to make him give a small yelp, but not hard enough to cause him much pain. Star was in a lot of pain, however. He could not stop laughing at Kevin's misfortune, even though he was in great pain. Kevin suddenly felt a little colder from his waist down. Star's laughter had increased again, which Kevin had thought an impossible feat. He looked down and saw the remnants of his cotton pants at his ankles. He blushed fiercely and ran behind a tree to hide himself.

Justin stirred and groaned. He opened his eyes slightly and found that his vision was all blurry but he could make out a few dark figures in front of him. He closed his eyes and opened them again.

"He's awake," Chris said excitedly. "Justin, are you okay?"

"Chris?" Justin slurred, rubbing his eyes. He looked around the room, noting that it was very large and dark. A few huge lighted torches hung from the walls, too high for anyone to reach. "Where are we?"

"We got captured by hill giants," Alegifu said. "Only my brothers, Jason and Hercules have escaped."

"What?!" Justin was no longer lethargic or groggy. "How could they leave us just like that? Do they even care about us?"

"Yes they care," Chris said.

"That's some way of showing it!" Justin shouted angrily. "Running off without helping us."

"They are helping us!" Lilith shouted at Justin. "They ran to get help."

"Oh yeah," Justin replied sarcastically. "I bet they ran to another village of Faeries to get help from them because they live near hill giants and fight them all the time so they know how to kill them."

"Actually, they did," Alegifu said. Justin looked at her blankly. "I told them to go ahead to Llanowar. Our Llanowar kindred fight hill giants all the time."

"Oh," was all Justin said. "So what do we do now?"

"We wait, I suppose," Iolaus said.

Jason and Hercules wandered through the unknown forest, wondering where Estel and Stile had gone. The forest here was more like a jungle, with enormous vines and bushes as high as eight feet. The sun barely shone through the thick canopy, giving the forest a creepy feeling.

"Do you feel like you're being watched?" Hercules asked Jason, gazing uncertainly into the trees. Jason nodded in agreement. "Yeah, and I have this sense of impending doom dropping from above."

Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, three figures leapt of the branches of trees and another three more jumped out of concealed pits in the ground. All of them were dressed in black and green armour and were wielding swords.

"Don't move another step," one of the figures, a young man with red eyes and bright red hair like fire, commanded. "Our archers have you surrounded."

"Well," Hercules said to Jason, "looks like your 'sense of impending doom dropping from above' was right after all." Jason just rolled his eyes. The red-eyed man gave them a silencing look and the two friends shut up.

"You two are arrested for trespassing," the red-eyed man said. "It is against the law."

"Wait a minute," Hercules said. "What law? We didn't know about the laws here."

"Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law," the man said. Jason took a step forward to try to negotiate terms with the man, but four arrows shot out from different trees in front of him and landed at his feet to prevent him from taking another step.

"Move and you die," the man said. Hercules opened his mouth to protest but Jason put a hand on his friend's shoulder to prevent him from saying anything foolish.

"We have to punish them according to the law," the man began. He was interrupted by the arrival of three more people dropping down from the trees.

"Wait," a familiar voice said. "They are friends of my brother and I."

The man's eyes widened with slight surprise. "Estel! You are held in high regard by my daughter. She thinks the world of you, saying you are the best teacher she has ever had. And I myself have heard of the great achievements of your family. I am sorry about your friends."

"Don't worry, Semus," Estel said, patting Semus's shoulder reassuringly. "You were just doing your job. And your daughter has your dedication as well, she is one of my best students. I enjoy teaching her every time I happen by Llanowar."

Semus blushed red, making his whole face as red as his eyes and hair. "I thank you for your compliment. Is there anything you require of me?"

"No," Estel replied. "You may go back to patrolling the forest. I know how dangerous this area is. It is an honour to meet you. The captain of the Border Guards speaks highly of you."

"I thank you for your compliment sir," Semus replied. "It has likewise been an honour to meet you and your brother." Semus looked over at the man standing next to Stile. He looked back at Estel and whispered, "Beware of Morcas, sir. The Lythari have been looking for some excuse to arrest him but he has always managed to cover his tracks. They believe him to be a traitor in league with our enemies. Not even the kender trust him."

Estel's eyes widened a little then he whispered back, "Thank you for the warning. I will make sure my brother knows about that as well."

"I try my best," Semus smiled. He gestured with his hand and his five companions faded into the forestas though they had never been. "We will meet again," he promised before he faded into the forest as well.

"At last that's over with," Morcas said, running his fingers through his dark brown hair. He looked at Estel with his lavender eyes. "Well, are we going to resuce your friends or not?"

Stile turned towards a path in the forest and began to walk down it, followed by Morcas and Jason. Hercules walked beside Estel, the two of them making up the rear.

"I don't trust him," Hercules said to Estel in a low voice so as not to be heard by Morcas. Estel nodded in agreement with Hercules.

"I didn't either but he seemed eager to rescue our friends," Estel said. "Said he knew shortcuts to get there so we could be at the lair by tomorrow morning. I still don't trust him though."

Morcas turned around to see what was taking Estel and Hercules so long. Estel noticed it and immediately changed the subject to a story about him fighting goblins with only a small staff. Hercules knew that it was all a bluff to stop Morcas from suspecting anything and he went along with it, relating his own misadventures with his family.

Kevin and Star followed the footprints of the giants leaving the academy. Star had wanted to visit two of his siblings there but when they had reached there, the found no one around. They had followed the large footprints of the giants, hoping to rescue the cadets before they were eaten. At was nighttime before they found themselves before an enormous cave entrance. The entrance was about 20 feet high and just as wide.

"Exactly how big are these giants?" Kevin asked nervously. Star began to estimate their height. He calculated the height and replied, "They're about twenty-two feet tall."

"How did they fit into the cave, then?" Kevin asked. "It's only tweny or so feet tall."

"Twenty?" Star asked in surprise. "It's actually about twenty-eight and a half feet."

Kevin furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and looked at the ground. He happened to catch a glimpse of Star's feet. He burst out laughing, a bewildered Star looking at him like he was mad.

"What's so funny?" Star asked. Kevin pointed at his feet, then at Star's.

"Human feet are bigger than elven feet, so our measurements don't coincide," Kevin replied, before laughing again. Star caught the joke and began giggling. The two of them stopped laughing, suddenly remembering that they were outside a hill giant lair. Kevin estimated the giants' actual heights to be about 16 feet, which was still very big. He wondered how they could get in without being caught by the giants.

Justin woke up in the middle of the night. He had been sleeping on a small stone just under his shoulder blade, causing him much discomfort. He could hear the giants snoring in the next room. He also heard the sound of laughter, one of the voices sounding familiar. The laughter abruptly stopped, as though the people outside had realised that they were outside a giant lair. Justin began to wonder if he should shout for help, and if the people would help at all or just run away. He wondered if he could save himself, but thought against it. He did not want to leave his friends and fellow students behind. And he could not have gotten far anyway, as his left leg was chained to a long chain that allowed him to wander anywhere he wanted except out of the room he was being kept in. Also, the chain was heavy and noisy when it dragged on the rought stone floor of the lair. He ruffled his hair, trying to shake sand out. Some of the finer grains of sand tickled his nose and he sneezed loudly. One of the giants grunted a little.

"Is there anyone in there?" a familiar voice called into the cave. Justin worried that the already stirring giant would wake up. He tried to remember who the voice belonged to.

"Hello?" the voice asked again.

"Kevin?" Justin asked loudly so that whoever spoke could hear it. The noise would have been loud enough to wake the giants but one of them coughed loudly, preventing Justin's voice from being heard by any of his captors.

"Oh my God, Justin," Kevin called back. "Are you alright?"

"Kevin, go away," Justin replied, hearing the giants stirring. "The giants are waking up! Get out of here."

Justin's voice had increased in volume in his excitement, and woke up all the captured cadets. Unfortunately, it woke the giants up too. Justin saw Kevin step into the cave, followed by a slightly more slender figure, which Justin recognised as that of an elf.

"Rima ten'ta! Asca! Ta naa neuma!" Justin shouted at the top of his lungs. Alegifu heard what Justin was saying and realised that there were two figures near the cave entrance.

"Tira ten' rashwe! Kela nurta!" Alegifu shouted as well. "Uuma dela lye!"

At this moment, four of the six giants in the lair had arrived on the scene. All of them were wearing their hunting clothes and were wielding their clubs.

"N'uma!" Justin and Alegifu shouted at the same time. Two of the giants, both female, went after Kevin. The two male giants went after Star. Kevin quickly ran between the legs of the nearest giantess and jumped, grabbing hold of the back of her knee. The other giantess saw Kevin climbing up the leg of her companion, and she swung her club at him. Kevin quickly dropped to the ground, absorbing the impact by rolling away and standing up. The dumb giantess smashed her friend's leg, putting her friend out of the battle. Kevin ran towards the remaining giantess. She raised her leg up to squash him.

Gil cartwheeled between the two giants. He landed on his feet, his scimitars drawn. The two giants rushed towards him and reached out for him at the same time. Gil spun in a circle, the curved blades he wielded in each hand slicing in a deadly arc for anyone who got in the way. Except that the giants were bigger. But that did not stop Gil's effective spinning method. Both giant's found their hands lacking two fingers each. Gil quickly jumped as high as he could. He jumped as high as he could and grabbed onto the rough armour of one of the giants. He found himself losing his grip and grabbed something like a large pillar underneath the armour. Gil hugged it to keep his grip when he suddenly realised what he was grabbing onto.

"EW! YUCK!" Gil shouted as he let go. He was just in time, as the the other giant swung his club at Gil. A large SPLAT was heard and Gil winced in imaginary pain, as did all the cadets except for Lilith and Alegifu who just sat there with sickened looks on their faces.

"Ooh, that's gotta hurt," Chris said, wincing again. All the cadets who heard him nodded in agreement.

The first giant doubled over, let of a high-pitched squeek and blacked out, blood flowing freely from where he had been hit. The distraction caused by that bought Gil enough time to climb up the second giant's back and stab his scimitars into the giant's brain.

The giantess fighting Kevin stopped her foot for a while and turned to look at her companion. She was a bit smarter and quickly turned back before Kevin could run away. She proceded to lower her foot when Kevin shouted, "WAIT!"

The giantess looked at Kevin with a puzzled look on her face. Kevin thought as fast as he could and quickly said, "Watch it, you oaf! I'm supposed to fight you, not get stepped on, so just stand still and let me kill you!"

"Hokay," the giantess replied. She put her foot down beside Kevin and closed her eyes. "Okay, Shadaga ready to be killed now."

Kevin contained his laughter and turned and ran. Shadaga opened her eyes to find Kevin missing.

"Hey!" she shouted to Kevin, her thunderous voice echoing through the cave. "Where small man go? Small man supposed to kill Shadaga, not run away."

She turned around to see if Kevin was behind her when she noticed two topaz-tipped arrows flying towards her. Both of them hit the centre of her forehead, a known weak-spot for giants, and killed her instantly.

"Good shot, Kevin," Gil congratulated Kevin. "You have officially passed your archery now."

"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!" a LOUD, THUNDEROUS voice BOOMED! Small rocks dislodged themselves from the cave walls and a large giant of about eighteen feet tall stepped into the room. His naked body buldged with humongously over-sized muscles. He glanced at his four dead or unconcious companions and roared furiously. His muscles bulged, causing him to look larger and more intimidating than he really was, especially since he was not wearing anything at all to hide his body size. It worked, though, as it unnerved everyone.

"Uh oh," Justin whispered under his breath. "Is it too late to wish that this was just a bad dream?"

"I wish that was the case," Alegifu whispered back, in awe of sight the before her.

"That's beautiful, Brian," Lalaith whispered, in awe of the sight before her. She looked at her now-decorated room, covered in lighted candles. The sweet scent of incense and flowers filled the air and the romantic feeling filled the room.

"I'm glad you like it, Lalaith," Brian whispered back. He leaned over and kissed her on the lips. "I did it just for you."

"But Brian..." Brian kissed Lalaith on the lips to keep her quiet. They began to kiss passionately, the heat of passion filling the air. It felt as though both of them were on fire with passion, and the glow of love emanated from the two of them. Sparks flew. The smoke of the incense surrounded them. They released each other and took a deep breath. The romantic mood changed into one of alarm when the two of them realised that the heat was not of passion, the glow was not of love, the smoke was not from the incense and the sparks really were sparks.

"FIRE!" Brian shouted, grabbing Lalaith's hand and running out of her room. Already the thick smoke engulfed the house, causing Brian and Lalaith to choke.

"Wait," Lalaith said, turning back to the room. Brian followed after her. Lalaith stood at the doorway and uttered a prayer to Eru Iluvatar. Immediately, the flames died down and the smoke cleared. The room was however still in a terrible mess. Brian hung his head down in embarrassment.

"It was romantic while it lasted," Lalaith said, kissing Brian's lips again. "I think I'll have to sleep in your bed with you tomorrow."

Brian just grinned in anticipation. The two lovers did not notice the turtledove fly out of the window, and then disappeared.

The giant grinned in anticipation. He licked his lips and lifted his club high above his head. A shout rang out, "Ragnor, look out behind you!"

Ragnor turned around to face Estel and Stile, both of them wielding the powerful elven longbows. Both brothers had three arrows nocked and ready to fire, so good was the skill of the faerie at archery. Jason and Hercules were also wielding bows but they had only one arrow nocked each.

"You traitor!" Estel shouted at Morcas. He released his arrows at Ragnor and Stile followed his actions as well. The six arrows thudded into Ragnor's forehead, the two fired by Hercules and Jason getting Ragnor in the neck, causing the giant to stumble backwards. He gurgled and blood flowed out of his mouth. With a groan, he fell to his side with an earth-shaking thud.

"Just because you're big, doesn't mean you can't be killed," Estel said. He turned to Morcas and announced, "Morcas, you are hereby..."

"You can't arrest me," Morcas taunted Estel. "You're an archmage, true, but you can only arrest people from your village only. Only the Lythari can arrest me now, and there are none here. You can tell them if you wish, but you will have no proof at all, and they won't catch me."

"Contrary," Stile said, his voice sounding more commanding than his normal voice. "I have all the proof I need. Morcas Morgothira, you are hereby sentenced to death for treachery, by order of the Lythari."

"There are no Lythari here," Morcas sneered.

"Contrary," Stile said again. He opened his mouth revealing two long fangs. Everyone took one step away from Stile, including Morcas, whose face had gone pale white.

"Stile is a vampire," Justin whispered in shock. ------------------------------TO BE CONTINUED------------------------------ How was the ending for this one? Tell me about it. Someone emailed me and wanted me to include something like a 'what happens next' segment after the story, so they knew at least basically what will happen in the next chapter. Will you guys help me out and email me to tell me if that would be a good idea or a bad one. If enough people say it's a good idea, I'll put it in, so email me with the answers soon.

Well basically thanks to God, David from Nifty, my friends on the Realms of Despair whose names I have used, JRR Tolkien for writing such nice books that I have read and enjoyed and took elements of things from, everyone who has sent me emails encouraging me especially Rune Therin for all those nice long emails that told me specifically where I went wrong and which parts were nice (you've been really helpful Rune!), to my new friend Lancefan2001 (or Lance for short) for your wonderful emails as well. To everyone at Nifty who reads the story and to those who don't but know it exists. Email me and tell me about this chapter. I like getting response from people. That way I know what most people are expecting and find a way to surprise them... ;) Anywayz, emails of all sorts related to the story should be sent to ensstyenlc@hotmail.com Hope to hear from you guys soon! Ciao for now!

These are stories that I enjoy reading and you may too: NSYNC and the Vampires Brian and Justin My Lance West side of Westlife Xtreme NSYNC A Tale of two boybands Afflecktion (It's over and quite old, but I discovered it only a few days ago. It's under celebrities, not boybands.)

There are a lot of other good writers out there and if your story is not listed here, it most likely means I haven't read your story yet!

Next: Chapter 12
