The Past:

The smell of burning thatch filled my nostrils. I sat up in bed, searching the room for any sign of fire. I walked through the small house, trying to find the source of the smell. As I got closer to the front door, the smell got stronger. The door suddenly flew open. I was standing face to face with an angry mob. "It's your fault! You should be punished! We'll burn you like the witch you are!" The rest of the mob voiced they're aggrement. "I'm not a witch! What do you mean? What is my fault?" I was screaming over the normal mob noises. The crowd parted. A priest walked slowly through the opening in the crowd. He stood over me, holding a chalice. He dipped his finger in the bowl, held it up for the crowd to see. "For your crimes against humanity, I damn you." He said this softly, as a tear rolled down his cheek. I shook my head slowly. "No, please..." He cut me off. "You brought the invisible demons to this peaceful village. Unseen terror destroyed everything they could fine searching for you. They fear you power. The fact that you have power proves you are a witch. You must die." My tears were uncontrollable. They flowed freely. "No. You can't do this! I don't have any power. I'm just like the rest of you!" The priests head lowered. "No, you are not. The village warned me, but I didn't listen." He looked up. "What are you talking about?" I said between sobs. I looked into his eyes. "Father, you can't do this..." He held up his hand. "I found you while hunting, and claimed you as my own. You are not my son." I didn't question why he had been hunting, at the time, and I dread that to this day.

I don't remember anything after that until...

I was in a dark alley. Someone was with me, but I wasn't afraid of him. He was dressed in black. His face was covered. I could barely see him. "Go! You have to leave, now!" I was still in shock from the sudden rejection. "I .. I can't leave you." He was getting angry. "They aren't after me! Go, now!" After a little more fighting, I left the village through the passage he showed me. I wandered through open plains for a few days, killing birds for their meat, and feathers. I eventually discovered I did actually have powers while trying to light a fire. I figured only magic could make a small pile of kindling burst into flame. The way the village raised me was to believe magic was drawn from hell. I thought, at the time, the fire I was using to cook the birds, and melt ore for arrow heads, was from hell itself. I learned how to control this fire, and reduce it to mental heat. It was easier to melt pure ore this way. My powers developed faster than most magicians that train themselves. My survival skills developed just as quickly. Carving arrow shafts, and bows became easier. It eventually became a hobby. When I turned eighteen I decided to find a town, and sell my extra bows. That was my trade until I came here. Along the way I met up with one, or two invisible demons. I can remember that much, but the details are gone. I don't know how, but I have to learn the truth about my past, and I think this quest will, somehow, help me with that.

For years I've been supressing the memories of anguish. I think that may have something to do with the lost memories. I've tried so hard to destroy them that I've trapped them somewhere in my subconcious.

Thats what I can remember.

Gail started looking around. "I think they're waking up. They may kill each other if we don't show them how to control the first power bursts. Try to keep your mind on something else, for now. They're going to need you." I nodded, and started disconnecting my self from the dream realm. TBC...

I just couldn't get it as painful as I had hoped... Thats why I'm relying on those lost memories. It was hard to start, hard to end. I had to improvise here, and there. Anyway, tell me what you think! TruAmricanBadAss@AOL.com ... IM: Morbddream, or Bad Ass. See ya next time.
