Chapter seven
Gary looked at the slightly younger man on the large bed, he had, had Linda put him into a magical sleep that would give his body and mind time to heal. Gary wished that he could have had the same he felt like he had been hit by a train moving at top speed. Linda had told him that Jerry would sleep for twenty four hours; this gave Gary enough time to clean up the mess. Gary entered the living area of the apartment, it smelt of burnt flesh and smoke, structurally the room was fine, some of the furniture would have to be replaced and the carpet.
There were seven large stains on the carpet; they represented the seven men that had died the day before. Ben had in truth made it easy to clean up; the bodies had been turned to nothing but dust. Gary thought back to the fight he had never seen Ben use so much raw power he had not thought that Ben had it in him. Gary knew that Linda would be blaming herself over what nearly happened to Ben however she was not the one to blame truth be told no one was.......
It had been on the day before Gary was to return to university; Ben was in his final year of high school and had been on holidays also. Gary watched the teen from behind for a moment and could tell that something was wrong. "What's up?" Ben turned to his closest friend and sniffed he had been crying and in truth looked a mess. "My father wasn't happy with the report on my magical progress", Gary cringed inwardly it was no secret to the pack that Ben was showing very limited if oddly powerful magical abilities.
Gary did the only thing he knew that would make the younger male happy; he drew him into a hug and nuzzled his neck. "Don't worry at it, we all develop differently when it comes to magic", Ben nodded inhaling deeply he loved how Gary smelt. The smell of Gary alone was enough to make Ben happy.
Gary shook his head and came back to the present things had gotten worse for Ben that year, and in part it had been his fault. That was one of the reasons that Linda had accepted his continued sexual relationship with her little brother. They both loved him so much that they couldn't and wouldn't take that from him as well. Gary stood up and headed to the office it was time to make the phone calls that needed to be made.
Linda looked down at the sleeping form of her brother what had happened was a very close thing and should not have been possible. And would never have happened if the group that had staged the attack had not been so aware of the mate bond. Somehow they had known and had found a way to block it, meaning it had taken her longer to realise Gary had been in trouble. She turned her attention from her brother to the silver chain net; it had been the cause of the problem she had experienced with her bond with Gary. She glared at it and returned once more to her brother, both were agitating her, the near death of her brother more so. She looked at Ben and cried softly to herself, why had he never come to her for help? Why had he never accepted her offer to train him?
The Alpha walked into the room quietly he saw his daughter sleeping in a chair and his son in the bed. He could tell both were exhausted, he sighed and brushed the dirty blonde hair away from Bens eyes. He gently kissed his boy on the forehead and turned to his now awake daughter, "Report Alpha Elect". The Alpha had shifted from loving father to pack Alpha in a moment; Linda sat up straight in the chair and reported what had happened. The Alpha nodded his understanding, as he reached the door he turned to his daughter, "Get some rest Linda"; he smiled warmly at her and left.
Gary looked in on Jerry before he left the apartment, he had to see Leo, if this group of sorcerers had tracked him and Ben to the apartment chance were they had already tracked Bridget. The Vampires house was as it had always been, he was let in by one of the twins, he could never work the pair out they smelt the same to him. As he reached Leo's office Bridget was leaving he smiled at her as she rushed past it was becoming obvious that something had happened.
Leo looked at Gary and could see that the young man was worried, "What troubles you Gary"? Gary looked at his onetime mentor, on his way over to the house he had tried to think of a suitable way to let Leo know what had happened without revealing too much. Gary sighed and gave a brief rendition of what had happened the day before. Leo rubbed his eyes, although he didn't need a lot of rest it had been a long night and day. "Do you recall anything that they said that might indicate who they work for", Gary shook his head. "Thank you Gary for the warning you had best get back", Gary nodded as he was about to leave Leo spoke softly knowing that Gary's heightened sense of hearing would pick it up. "Will the boy live"? Gary was surprised he had not told Leo about Ben's part in what had happened; he turned to Leo and spoke just as softly. "My mate arrived just in time a minute later and it would have been too late", Leo nodded his understanding, "How did you know"? Leo smiled and shook his head indicating that he could not say. Gary nodded his understanding and left, things just seemed to be getting increasingly complicated.
Leo looked up as Bridget re-entered "It begins then", Leo nodded, Bridget felt a wave of sadness come off of the head of the coven, when she looked at him she could see tears in his eyes. "Get some rest Bridget you are far too young to be up this late in the day", Bridget nodded and left. Leo made six phone calls, each was brief and to the point the Australian Coven Heads had to meet, this new threat threatened them all.
Gary returned to the apartment and although it was early afternoon he poured himself a drink, he knew it would be a few hours before Jerry woke up so he had time to prepare himself for the questions that were to come.
Jerry woke, he felt stiff and hungry, he ran his hands threw his cherry black hair, once his sleep haze left he looked around frantically. He was just about to run out of the room when Gary entered the room, "Take it easy Jerry, he's fine but not here". Jerry sat back on the bed and hung his head; it took Gary a moment to realize that Jerry was crying. He sat down next to him and put his arm around his shoulder. "Hay buddy its ok you're both safe and alive" Gary tried to reassure him. Jerry slowly pulled himself together remembering what Gary had done; unexpectedly Jerry hit Gary firmly in the nose. Gary yelled in shock, "What the fuck Jerry", Gary blocked the next hit and managed to pin Jerry to the bed noting that he had blood dripping out of his nose.
Gary held him like that for a moment, "If I let you back up do you promise to stop hitting me", Jerry grunted a yes. "Good, now I understand why you're upset and pissed at me, however you need to understand it was for the best, Ben would not have wanted you to die as well. And as it is you are both alive". Jerry nodded his understanding; Gary was right, he looked at the larger man and noticed the blood nose he had given him. "Sorry about that", Gary grinned and shook his head,
"It is altogether possible that I deserved it, we are sorry for your pack mates". Jerry felt cold he had forgotten being too focused on Ben, "its ok we all know how things can go", Gary nodded, "Can I ask a question". Gary raised an eyebrow trying to clean the last of the blood off his face, "Is the Mate Bond always like this". Gary laughed, "Yes, you will always feel as if something is missing when you aren't near them, you will always protect them even at the cost of your own life". Jerry looked away, Gary felt he knew what was really troubling Jerry, "It wasn't your fault, in part it is mine, both of us being attacked pushed Ben over the edge. Thankfully Linda, my mate could pull him back", Jerry nodded thinking that what Gary said made sense except, "Why are you partially to blame".
Gary sighed he had hoped that Jerry wouldn't pick up on that, "As you know there are two kinds of Mate Bonds, the kind that you and Ben have and myself and Linda they happen instantly we just fell that connection. However what isn't common is the second way they are formed, which is in a very human kind of way, over time with physical and emotional contact. Before I met Linda myself and Ben had started to form that bond, it was never broken; if anything it's probably stronger now than when I met Linda". Jerry was stunned he had obviously known about the two kinds of Mate Bond he had not known that an individual could have more than one mate though. The pair sat in silence for a while, Jerry stood and announced he was going to go shower, Gary nodded and left the bedroom.
Jerry let the hot water flow over his body reducing the aches and pains, he couldn't help but think about Ben, he was shocked to find out that Ben and Gary had a Bond. However he knew that his and Ben's Mate Bond was stronger, he smiled to himself as he gently rubbed his hardening cock, if Ben had been there he would have dealt with it for him. With a sigh Jerry began to massage his now erect penis thinking of his mate it didn't take long for a warm stream of cum to spurt out of his cock head. Cleaning up and feeling more relaxed Jerry went in search of food.
Ben woke with a start it was late afternoon he could tell that by looking out the window, he could also tell he was back in the pack lands, he felt safe. He looked around and saw his sister sat in a chair nearby, she was asleep, Ben felt guilt at the sight of her, he had nearly cost her the life of her Bond Mate. Ben could feel that Jerry was fine he could also tell he was nowhere nearby, "How do you feel little brother"? Ben looked over at Linda his sister was stunning she also looked exhausted "I'm so sorry", he hung his head, Linda rushed to the bed and hugged him. Nothing else needed to be said, Linda didn't blame him for what had happened.
Jerry and Gary re-entered the apartment they had been for a run to let off steam, Gary had heard from both Linda and the Alpha earlier. He had been told that Ben was fine and that he and Jerry were to make their way to the pack lands as soon as they could. Gary had felt it would be better to have a run before trapping them in a car for hours; Jerry had been keen for the run as well. Jerry was also nervous about going to the pack lands of another pack without anyone from his pack. However he was happy ecstatic to be going to his Ben.
