Hey again everyone! I'm baaaaaccckkk!!! First off, I just want to apologize to all of you out there that have been patiently awaiting this chapter. I had trouble writing because I had reached a point in the story where I wasn't quite sure about the direction that I wanted the plot to take. But, now I have that direction and I'm gonna run with it! Anyway, while I'm here, I'd like to send out thanks to Justin and Mystery who have helped me make this story into what it is today. Also, I have to send a shout out to two pretty ladies, Gabriella (author of My Surprise Romance) and Kat (author of some great Nsync stories and the host of my story). These ladies have encouraged me and are always ready to hound me about when my next installment is coming out! :) And finally, to Neto, a huge thank you for always supporting me and giving me all the encouragement that anyone could ever need!
Oh! My story is hosted now. You can find it and other stories written by some great authors at www.angelfire.com/boybands/KathFiction/Main.html. Go and check it out!

Chapter 14: Enter Dani
After agreeing to postpone the rehearsal a bit, all of us, once again, went back to my and Howie's room to discuss some things. After everyone found a seat, we all sat and listened as Richie recounted his adventures in bringing AJ and Chris together. We were all amazed that such a young kid had managed to do so much more than the rest of us combined had. I felt so much pride at my son's actions and almost squeezed the life out of him in gratitude. By looking at the others' faces, I could tell that Richie had just earned himself a permanent place in their hearts by helping out their friends when they couldn't. After all of the emotional play was over, we all just sat around and talked about each other's lives. When someone brought up Kevin and Brian's weddings, they both looked at me and asked if Richie and I would like to come. When I told them that I would be more than happy to, they smiled and told me to bring Angela as well. I smiled at that.
"You guys do realize that when I tell her about this she's probably gonna piss her pants, right?" I asked with a smirk.
"'Course we do! That's half the reason why you're gonna do it anyway! Don't even TRY to deny it!" Brian answered back while the others all cracked up around us. What could I say to that, but nod and smile?
Glancing quickly at his watch, Kevin stood up. "Alright guys, it's time to go! I promised management that we'd be at the venue in 15 minutes so get your asses moving!"
"Alright! I'll go over and get the lovebirds!" I told them with an evil smirk. This got everyone laughing again.
"Well, be careful. All we need now is to have two of our singers dead from massive heart attacks," Kevin warned me with a mock-serious face. I simply nodded and made my way across the hall to AJ and Chris' room. Without knocking, I burst through the door and took a deep breath.
"What in gay hell is goin' on here?!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, much to the amusement of the others.
At the sound of my voice, the kissing duo broke apart with a combined yelp.
I couldn't help busting up when I saw the looks on their faces. It didn't help any when they both chucked their pillows at me in retaliation.
"God damn it, Doug! You scared the living shit out of us!" AJ scolded in a pissy tone. "Why are you even bothering us? We had some good alone time going here!"
I managed to stifle my laughter enough to give an understandable answer. "I came over to get you guys so that we could head over to the venue for your rehearsal. We were supposed to leave an hour ago, but we all thought that you and Chris needed some time for yourselves." AJ seemed mollified, but Chris started to look panicked.
"Oh God! Do they know about us, Doug?" He asked in a fear-laden voice.
"Yeah, we all walked in on you two when you didn't answer the door. Don't worry Chris, we're all really happy for the two of you!"
A bright smile broke out on their faces when they heard that bit of news and Chris let out a huge sigh of relief. At my shooing motions, they both scrambled out of the bed and followed me out to meet the others. When we left the room, the two were smothered in hugs and congratulations. I think that it did them a lot of good to have their friends be so supportive of this change in their lives.
After all of the bonding was over, we all headed for the lobby and the awaiting limos. I grabbed Richie's hand as we all exited the hotel and got into the cars. The two bands took different cars and headed off to the venue.
After the rehearsal
Richie had spent the entire rehearsal jumping around and singing along with the guys. He really liked watching them practice, and so did I. I never realized just how much work was involved in getting ready for a concert. I also got another surprise that day. Apparently, these concerts that were being done in California were all for charity (specifically Brian's heart charity, The Justin Timberlake Foundation, Howie's lupus research, and a few others that the guys were involved in). Along with the guys, two of Nsync's former opening acts were going to be performing as well. Pink and Sisqo turned out to both be very nice people and Richie was fascinated with Pink's hair. When she picked him up to say hello, he started to run his fingers through her hair and tell her how cool it looked. After putting him down and ruffling his hair, she turned to greet me.
"Hey! The name's Pink. I don't believe we've met."
"My name's Doug. I'm here with the BSB, just tagging along until the end of the week with my soon here," I told her as I squeezed my son's hand.
"So this little monster's yours?" she asked with a funny face that made Richie giggle. As we all started to laugh, a pair of strong arms pulled me into a hug and I was then kissed breathless. When the stars eventually cleared from my eyes, I smiled and leaned back into Howie's chest as we both smirked at the leering expression on Pink's face.
She hit me in the arm and asked, "Why didn't you tell me that you were tryin' to mske an honest man outta D here?"
"Well, it's not something that I really talk about to people I don't know well. I don't want him or the others hurt because of my slip up." I answered as Howie nuzzled my neck with affection.
"Ah, lay off him Pink! You know you're just upset now because you can't have him for yourself. But Richie here, he's available. Aren't ya, little man."
Sensing that a joke was being made, my son just nodded his head with a big grin on his face. Pink burst out laughing and took Richie by the hand.
"Well, then we're going on a date! You two go catch some time together while my man and I go and grab some food off the buffet table." The two of them walked off hand in hand and giggling the whole time. I smiled at Howie as I pulled him into his private dressing room to do just what she had suggested.
At the concert
Richie and I were given seats in the area cordoned off for friends and family. He was on his feet the entire time and was yelling and singing at the top of his lungs. Periodically, one of the guys would come over and wave to Richie and that just set him off more. The concert ended with both groups singing God Must Have Spent. I almost started crying when Kevin came forward to introduce the song.
"How's everyone doin' out there tonight?!" He yelled to the audience, which caused the screaming to shoot up a few more decibels, "I'm glad to hear that. Right now I'm gonna introduce the last song of the night, but first the group has a little dedication. This song goes out to our favorite little man. He helped make two of our friends very happy today and we all wanted to thank him. So, Richie, this one's for you...," he finished as the music started and the rest of the guys took their places on stage. The entire audience was moved by the amount of emotion that they sang with and Richie was so excited because the song was for him.
As the last note died and they took their bows, the crowd erupted in enormous applause. The number had been incredible and everyone knew it. While the audience was still applauding, I flagged over one of the security guards and had him escort us backstage. I really didn't want to have to deal with all of the teenies again! As we were walking down the hall, we passed a well-dressed woman whom I hadn't seen before. However, since security did nothing, I just assumed that she was allowed back here and didn't give it a second thought. We waited for Howie in his dressing room. When he came in, I could tell that he was more than a little wired from the adrenaline. He quickly showered and changed and then grabbed Richie and I in a hug. I gave him a kiss and we all headed into the hall to meet the rest of the gang. As we stepped outside of the dressing room, we were just in time to notice the woman I had seen earlier go into Chris' dressing room without knocking. The next thing we heard was her scream.
"What the fuck are you doing to my boyfriend?!" She asked in a cold and vicious voice. We rushed over to lessen the damage and help as we could, but it was too late. We got to the door just in time to see the woman smack Chris across the face with all of her strength. Quickly, AJ put himself between Chris and the irate woman. I could only guess that she had caught them kissing.
Putting a hand to his injured cheek, Chris asked in a timid voice, "Danielle, what are you doing here?"
She sneered at him as she answered, "I'm here to check up on your pathetic ass! I've told you time and time again that I won't tolerate any of this faggot shit! Didn't I Chris?" Chris nodded his head in fear. Grabbing a hold of his arm, she managed to tear him away from the still shocked AJ and pull him towards the door.
"You're gonna have to be taught a lesson again for this Chris! One of these days your gonna learn not to disobey me!" As she raised her hand to strike him again, Howie and I both moved to stop her. However, we were both halted in our tracks by a snarling voice from behind us.
"You better back away from my boy, bitch, if you know what's good for you!"
To be continued...
Well, what did y'all think? Who is this mystery person that's coming to Chris' defense? What kind of impact is this gonna have on his relationship with AJ?
Anyway, from now on, I'm going to try and get these chapters out faster. My story is now hosted on a site called Kat's Fan Fiction.
