Hello dear readers. This is my first story in this type of genre. I have a couple of other stories here on Nifty but I have not finished them. I hope to return to them soon.

This is a sci-fi fantasy based story so none of it is real. All of this is coming from my brain and I hope that you enjoy it. Please send me your thoughts and if I receive positive feed back I'll continue.

On a cold stormy night, a shadowy figure stooped with age made it's way up the stony trail towards the village lights of Egelsa. The rain beat down on the little village as the mysterious figure came within it's borders. The residents of the tiny village were ending their day and longed for the warmth of their beds.

The crooked shadow passed the window of a young man. Jason Cameron was just getting ready for bed and saw the stranger.

`How strange for someone to be out in this storm', Jason thought as he watched the hooded figure pass outside the rain stained window of his bedroom.

I'm glad that Im in here warm and dry.' Jason shivered at the thought of being out on such a terrible night.

Just as he was turning from his window a flash of lightening illuminated the nights sky followed by a crash of thunder. At that very moment the mysterious stranger fell and was lying face down on the wet ground. Jason watched as the stranger tried to stand only to once again fall upon the cold ground. Without even thinking Jason began dressing, he knew he had to help . He reached for his clothes, boots and cloak and started towards the door. In all the commotion his father Joel and his younger brother Jerret were awaken and exited their rooms, concerned about the well being of their family.

The three Cameron men had been alone since Netty Cameron had died while in childbirth with his ten year old brother, Jerret. Jason missed his mother's touch and love. He had many memories to keep in his heart but at times he felt these memories were slowly slipping from his mind.

Jason's father was the Inn keeper for the village. They had many travelers stay during the hunting months and at other times the Inn was barren of guests. They lived a simple life and Jason hoped one day to run the Inn with his brother.

His father and brother watched Jason as he swung the door open. They waited and watched as Jason ran out into the storm.

The rain blinded Jason's eyes as he reached the fallen figure. The man lay motionless, his face still down on the cold ground.. When Jason was finally able to turn him over he had a strange look in his eyes. Again Jason wondered what this man was doing in his little village in the middle of the night. Jason helped him to his feet and lead him inside. Once inside the others came to help. They removed the old man's cloak and sat him near the warm fire.

"Fetch more wood for the fire." Joel Cameron said to his youngest son.

Joel Cameron brought a blanket and wrapped it around the shoulders of his midnight guest. The stranger was thankful for the warm fire and the blankets provided by the kind village men.

After hanging his wet cloak up to try Jason went to the kitchen. He returned and placed a plate of cheese and bread on the table. He also warmed some stew that was leftover from their dinner. The strange man gave him an odd look and took the food with out a word of thanks. The Cameron family watched as the old man ate without a word. After his dinner and several steins of ale he finally relaxed in the chair. With a look of contentment on his face he finally worded his thanks to Joel Cameron and his sons.

Jason saw the fire dance in the strangers eyes as he finally had the courage to ask what was on his mind since he first saw this man outside his window.

"Sir, where are you traveling on this night?"

The stranger ignored Jason. Jason met his father's eyes. His father gave him a look of wonder and shrugged his shoulders.

The stranger turned to Jason and eyed the young man. Jason was 16 years old and was a very handsome young man. He had his mothers soft green eyes and his fathers rugged features. He was 5'8" , 155 pounds, and had a nicely trimmed body. His hair was chocolate brown and his skin was smooth and golden brown from working in the family fields.

The stranger looked at the handsome young Jason and smiled. He didn't say a word. His smile disappeared as a look of remembrance crossed his face.

"That is a very good question you ask boy. What is your name?"

"Jason Cameron sir. This is my father Joel and brother Jerret"

"Well, Jason Cameron I am not sure of the answer to your question. You see I am not a traveler or a peddler. I am a farmer. I live in the valley of Torensia.

"Torensia! Why, that's a least thirty days travel from Egelsa" Jason exclaimed in wonder.

"Thirty five days to be exact." he retorted. I have been traveling many weeks on an unknown quest. A journey that has taken me to many wonderful and strange lands. Yet I am still searching."

Jason looked puzzled at what the stranger had said.

"What journey? What quest? You speak in riddles Sir. Don't you know why you have left your home and have traveled so far?"

"I know nothing except for what I have been told" A look of anger was mounting on the old winkled face. "Let me try to explain what has happened."

At that moment little Jerret yawned.

"Perhaps we should continue this discussion in the morning" Joel Cameron said as he himself began to yawn.

"No, I want to hear what he has to say." Jason exclaimed far too excited for sleep.

"I think you are right Joel Cameron. We will finish this in the morning." the stranger added.

"But..." Jason was cut off.

"Enough, Jason it's time for bed. We'll hear about everything else in the morning." his father said.

"Yes Sir." Jason said knowing that he wasn't going to win this argument.

"Oh, by the way Sir, what is your name?" Jason asked the stranger.

"My name is Asahel Bloodstone.

"Jason, show our guest Mr. Bloodstone to a room and build him a fire." Joel said.

"Yes, father."

In his room Jason couldn't sleep. Suddenly he sat up in bed. "I have to tell Caine." He dressed quickly and quietly left the warmth of the inn.

Jason and Caine had been best friends since they were children. Although Caine was two years older than Jason, the age difference meant nothing to them. They were best of friends and Jason could tell him anything. Well, almost anything. Jason had never shared how he really felt about his friend Caine. His love for Caine grew everyday. He longed to be held by his friend but never expressed to him his real feelings of love. Many nights Jason would pleasure himself to fantasies of he and Caine. He dreamt of his friend making passionate love to him. When Jason's mother died Caine was there to comfort and support him through the rough times. If it weren't for Caine, Jason would be a different person.

Jason made his way along the soggy trail until he neared the small cottage where Caine lived. He had been here so many times. Caine's parents were respected elders of the village and they loved Jason as their own son. So many happy memories filled his thoughts. He knocked on Caine's window.

"Caine, Caine, come on open your window so I can come in."

A moment later a flicker of light appeared in the tiny room as Caine came to his window.

"What are you doing here Jason?"

"Let me in. I need to talk to you."

Caine helped Jason as he crawled through his window.

Jason began his story of what had happened earlier in the evening. Caine seemed to hang on his every word.

"He didn't tell you why he was here?" Caine asked.

"He'll tell us in the morning. But I couldn't sleep. I had to tell you"

Caine smiled and put his hand on Jason's shoulder. "You are so impatient"

"I am not." Jason denied, knowing that Caine was right. Caine's touch caused him to shiver. His friend knew Jason better than he knew himself. He enjoyed the fact that Caine always showed his care and love by touching.

Jason looked into his blue eyes. Caine stood at 6' 2. He weight was 180lbs of solid muscle. He had azure blue eyes and long blond hair that he kept in a braid most of the time. Caine was much bigger then Jason and always felt the need to be his guardian and protector. Jason placed his hand on Caine's shoulder and squeezed it in a loving manner.

"You're right. I am impatient." Jason confessed. I better get back before I'm missed."

"Alright, I'll be over at first light."

Caine watched as Jason climbed out the window.

"See you in the morning." Jason said as he smiled and turned leave.

"Good night Jas." Caine replied. Alone once more and in his warm bed, Caine's thoughts turned to his best friend. Caine's heart was full of love for Jason. "If only he knew how I felt." Caine thought. He closed his eyes and dreamt of his one true love, Jason Cameron.
