Deceptions

Chapter 1

Tyler Duboise grabbed his mother Linda and held her tightly as she cried on his shoulder.

His grandmother's funeral had just ended and he sat in the backseat of the limo along with his mother and Chance, his best friend from boarding school.

Tyler had been away at boarding school for the best two years. His father had decided that it would be best for him to be sent to boarding school after getting into a minor run in with the law.

"Where is dad at?" He did not see his father at the funeral at all. He was probably away on business, which he always put before his family.

Linda looked at Tyler, she sniffled and dabbed her eyes with the handkerchief that she had been using to dry up the water fall coming from her eyes.

"He's away." Linda replied.

He really wasn't very satisfied with her answer. The way she had answered it made him think that there was something that she wasn't telling him. He didn't want to press any farther for now. He would wait until his mother was a little better and ask again.

He smiled at his mother. She still looked beautiful even though her make up was running down her face and her eyes were red and puffy.

Her green eyes were very depressing to look into. Her brown here was cut into a shoulder length crop. Her small button nose was red and runny.

Tyler, was a spitting image of his mother. The only difference was that instead of brown hair he had a head full of ginger colored hair.

Chance squeezed Tyler's right knee with his left hand. He looked away from his mother and smiled at Chance.

Chance leaned over and put his mouth next to Tyler's ear. "I'm hear for you if you need anything." He whispered.

Chance's breath tickled his ear and sent a funny feeling all over his body.

Tyler squeezed Chance's hand and smiled back at him.

"I know. Thank you for everything."

Jack Duboise sat in his office at his big oak executive desk. His office was very spacious and nicely furnished.

The wall directly behind him was covered with book shelves filled from top to bottom. A black sofa was placed on the left side of the office door. The large flat screen television looked perfect hanging on the wall above the sofa.

Jack stopped working on his paperwork and looked up at the antique grandfather clock in the corner of his office. It was two.

He had an important business matter that he had to take care of.

He picked up the receiver of the phone on his desk. He dialed a number and waited for it to ring. After five rings the other person finally picked up the phone.

"Next time answer a little faster when I call you." Jack paused to listen to what the other person had to say. "I don't care. How is everything going?"

Jack picked up a piece of paper and quickly wrote something down on it.

"I don't care who is there with you. You answer the phone when I call. I don't pay you for nothing. I don't care what it takes to get the job done. You do it or else the outcome for you won't be pretty. When I am done with you, no one could ever recognize that pretty little face of yours. I will call you back later to check in on things."

Jack placed the phone receiver back in its cradle.

He looked out the large window in his office. He grinned.

"That bitch doesn't know who she is messing with." He let out a deep malicious laugh. ************************************************************************

Aimee looked out the living room window of the Duboise living room and saw the limo pull up that had carried Linda, Tyler, and Chance from the funeral home.

"They're here Paige." Aimee said to the girl standing next to her.

She watched as the driver got out of the car and went around and opened the door, first ushering Linda out followed by Tyler and Chance.

She couldn't take her eyes off the ginger haired cutie that stepped out of the limo after Linda.

He had the perfect color of ginger hair. It wasn't took dark and it wasn't too bright. She watched as he grabbed Linda and gave her a hug before the three of the started walking towards the front door of the mansion.

"Who are the too cute guys with your mom?" Aimee asked, not even bothering to redirect her attention away from the window even though she was talking to Paige. "The red head is really cute."

Aimee grew jealous immediately when she saw the red head look at the other guy and smile gleefully at him.

"Um the red head is Tyler." Paige glanced out the window and watched her mom, brother and his friend walk towards the house. "The other guy is named Chance or Chase or something like that. He is Tyler's roommate from boarding school."

Aimee grinned.

"Your brother is hot." She walked towards the front door to open it. Paige was right behind her. "It's been like two years since I seen him and he comes back and oh my gosh he is so hot."

"That's my brother." Paige told her. "I'm pretty sure you don't have any chances with him at all."

Aimee always got what she wanted. She would whine to her parents until the would eventually give in and get her whatever it was at the moment that she wanted. She had learned how to work people over they years.

After all everyone always said that preacher's kids were the worst bunch, so she had a reputation that she had to live up to.

She pulled the door open just as Linda was getting ready to grab the doorknob and open it.

She grabbed Linda and greeted her with a big hug.

"I'm so sorry about your loss Mrs. Duboise. If you need anything no matter what time of the day what time of the night you can call me."

Linda smiled at Aimee.

"Thank you sweetheart."

"My parent's are in the kitchen as well as Mr. and Mrs. Brooks and Dr. Thames. We all thought we would come over here and be here with you and your family during this rough time."

"That is very thoughtful of you all."

Linda headed down the hallway towards the kitchen to visit with the other adults that had come to see her.

Aimee, still blocking the doorway, looked straight into Tyler's emerald eyes and gave him a seductive grin.

She grabbed him and pulled herself intimately close to him. He could feel her breast being smashed into him. The hug lasted a little bit longer than Tyler would have liked for it to.

"You look really good Tyler." She exclaimed. "Two years and you look like a totally different man. We should get together sometime and have coffee and catch up."

Tyler wasn't sure if he wanted to have coffee or anything else for that matter with Aimee. Before he was sent off to boarding school, he and Aimee had hung out on several occasions and she was a pretty decent fourteen year old.

Now two years later at sixteen she was being a little too touchy for him and he didn't like it.

"Maybe sometime. I'm not staying too long I have to unfortunately get back to that dreaded boarding school."

She smiled at him again.

"We could just skip the coffee and go straight to a dinner and movie."

She was becoming more bold.

Tyler decide to change the subject. He looked at Chance, a gleeful expression spread over his face.

"Aimee this is my good friend Chance from school." He said to Aimee. "Chance this is my sister's best friend Aimee."

Aimee held out her hand for Chance to shake.

"Nice to meet you Chad."

Chance smiled at her.

"Um it's Chance not Chad." He corrected her.

She turned around and strolled over to the couch and sat down.

Finally she was out of the doorway and Tyler could come into his own house. It had been a little over two years since he had stepped foot inside that house.

Flashback two years earlier...

"You are a disgrace to this family!" Jack shouted angrily at Tyler.

"I'm sorry dad. I didn't mean to do it."

Tyler tried apologizing. His dad was a very hard man and apologizing never worked. He didn't know why he thought it would work in a situation this bad.

"You are out of here!" Jack pointed his finger in Tyler's face as he continued to shout at him. "First thing tomorrow morning you are on a plane to boarding school. No if ands or buts."

That was the last time Tyler had spoken to his father. He had grown to hate him over the years. He hated him even more after today for not showing up at his grandmother's funeral.

"Where the hell was dad at today?" He asked Paige. "I can't believe he didn't even bother to come to grandma's funeral. That is a new low for him."

Paige looked at Chance and Aimee.

"I don't want to talk about it right now."

"Why not?" Tyler asked. "Everyone is keeping secrets from me. It's like I'm a stranger in my own family."

Paige felt bad. She didn't like keeping secrets from her brother. He had been away for two years, and they had hardly talked, but he was still her brother and she loved him. She had to tell him, she just didn't want to in front of Aimee or Chance.

Aimee had a big mouth and it would been all over town by noon if she said anything in front of her. Chance, she didn't know that well. She had just met him after all, but he seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

Aimee grabbed her cell phone, typed a message and sent it to Tyler.

He opened the message and read it.

Paige: Mom and dad split up.

Tyler: Why?

Paige: Dad wasn't who he seemed to be. Mom found out and she

left him.

Tyler: You will have to fill me in on all the details later.

Paige: Ok. BTW Chance is really cute.

Tyler: He is off limits to you.

Paige: Why?

Tyler: He just is ok.

"I'm starting to feel all left out over here." Aimee pouted. "No one is talking to me.

Chance's phone rang. He reached into his pocket and looked at the caller ID.

"Excuse me for a minute. I have to take this. It's my dad." He got up from the sofa and walked over to the front door. "I'm going to step onto the front porch for just a minute and take this call."

Chance walked out the door and closed it behind him.

Aimee stood up and looked at Tyler and Paige. "I really should be heading home. I have a ton of homework to do before school tomorrow." She looked at Tyler and smiled. "Call me sometime. My number is the same as always." She headed down the hallway towards the kitchen. "I'm going to tell my parents that I am leaving and going to go out the back way."

"What did dad do?" Tyler asked Paige after Aimee left.

"Mom doesn't know that I know, so don't say anything. I over heard her talking to someone on the phone. Anyhow, she was cleaning in dad's office down in the basement and right before he had gotten a phone call and left in a hurry. She found several pieces of papers that he had printed out and forgot to get out of his printer. One was an email telling him that a hooker by the name of Carrie wanted out. Another was an invoice from a guy named Frankie saying that 3 tones of coke had been successfully transported to The Dominican Republic. She confronted him and he told her everything. Duboise International is really a front for prostitution, drug trafficking, and illegal arms dealings."

The look on Tyler's face perfectly conveyed the shock he was in.

"You mean dad is like some kind of crime lord?"

"Pretty much."

"Wow." Tyler explained. "I knew he was a creep but I would have never guessed he did any of that stuff. I can only imagine how mom feels."

"You can't say anything to mom."

"I won't."

"Good." Paige walked towards the door leading into the hallway. She stopped, turned around and looked at Tyler. "I'm going to go check on mom."

She headed down the hallway to the kitchen.

The front door opened and Chance came back in. He put his phone back in his pocket and closed the door.

He smiled at Tyler.

"Sorry about that. It's just that if I don't answer when dad calls, then he gets really worried."

"I understand."

He walked over to the couch and sat down right next to Tyler. He rubbed his leg against Tyler's and looked around the living room.

"Where did everyone go?"

"Paige went into the kitchen to check on mom and Aimee said she had to get home and do homework."

Chance placed his hand on Tyler's knee and squeezed it. They both smiled at each other.

"Aimee is just a little weird for me." Chance confessed.

"She hasn't always been that way."

"I wanted to punch the bitch in the face when she was rubbing her breast all over you earlier."

Tyler looked at Chance inquisitively.

He saw a look in Chance's blue eyes that he had never seen before.

"Why?"

"I like you Tyler." He grabbed Tyler's hand and squeezed it.

"What do you mean?" Tyler thought he knew what Chance meant but he wasn't sure if he was right.

"I was boiling over with jealousy when she was touching you."

Tyler smiled at Chance.

He had developed a crush on Chance sometime ago. There was something about his blue eyes, dark brown hair and tall lanky frame that turned Tyler on.

Chance grabbed Tyler and pulled him closer.

Chance's blue eyes locking into Tyler's green.

"What would you say if I asked you to take our relationship to the next level?" Chance paused for a moment. "Tyler I want to make me the happiest guy alive and be my boyfriend."

Before Tyler could answer, Chance grabbed him and pulled him even closer. He slowly moved his lips closer to Tyler's until they were touching. Tyler opened his mouth to let Chance's tongue join his in a dance.

I hope you liked this chapter. There is more to come. What do you do you think will happen with Ty and Chance? Where did Aimee really go? What do you think Jack will do to get even with Linda?

Please feel free to send any comments or suggestions to rwill161@att.net I look forward to hearing from you all.
