Chapter 4

Bahamas...three months earlier

You're not sure what you really expected, but a private plane had never entered your mind, not to mention a private island. In the months ahead you would become accustomed to such luxuries, but for now it was very surreal. Through Carson Daly, Justin had acquired the keys to a condo used by the MTV staff while they were in the islands filming TRL. The condo was magnificent; very private and located directly on the beach.

The sun had just begun to set when you arrived and the smell of the salt air surrounded you. As you entered the condo, you realized that no expense had been spared in its construction. It was exquisite from top to bottom. Spanish tiles covered the floor and designer furniture filled the rooms. This was no typical beach house. You walked through the immense living room and noticed the big screen TV and elaborate sound system. They had thought of everything. The sliding glass door opened to an elevated deck that overlooked the beach. As you admired the view, Justin came up behind you wrapped his arms around your waist and lightly kissed you on the back of your neck.

"So, how do you like it?" he asked, as if there were any doubts.

"Justin, it's gorgeous!" "Can you believe that sunset?"

A mischievous smile appeared on his face. "Yeah, but I bet it looks better from the beach." He grabbed your hand and pulled you away from the railing and in the direction of the stairs leading down to the beach. You had only taken a few steps when he stopped abruptly.

"Wait here, I forgot something." He sprang back up the stairs and entered the condo. Within seconds he returned armed with a chilled bottle of champagne, 2 glasses and a blanket.

"Now we're ready!" he announced. "Let's go watch that sunset."

You shook your head and chuckled. "Justin, we're out in the middle of nowhere, how'd you get the champagne?"

He smiled. "A gift from Carson." "Let's go enjoy it!"

When you reached the bottom of the stairs, you quickly laid out the blanket and readied yourselves to enjoy the view. You were glad to see Justin so relaxed. You weren't exactly sure what was happening with the lawsuit, but it was obvious that it had effected Justin greatly. You had noticed from appearances and pictures you had seen him in that he had lost weight in the past few months, but never knew how much until he took off his shirt to enjoy the last bit of the sun's warming rays. He must have lost 15 or 20 pounds and it gave him a frail appearance. He looked nothing like the muscular man you had seen in concert a few months ago. Hopefully, this weekend would help.

He handed you a glass of champagne and a smile covered his face. "To one hell of a week-end!" he toasted.

You touched glasses and enjoyed the first sip of the sparkling beverage.

"I'm not much of a drinker," he explained, "but tonight it just feels right." "I'm really looking forward to the next two days." "Thank you for coming." "I know it all happened kinda quickly."

"I'm glad I came too," you said, "but now that you mention it there is something I need to tell you." You hoped he would understand. "I talked to Chris before we left." "It was important to me to know why he was so upset about this trip."

The news did not sit well with Justin.

"I can't believe you talked to Chris!" he said angrily, "This is none of his business!" "You're wrong, Justin!" you corrected him. "It is his business." "He really cares about you and doesn't want to see you get hurt!"

Justin wasn't convinced. "He's always saying that." "What he really wants is for me to never grow up!" "He told you about Germany, didn't he?"

"Yeah, he did." You could tell that your answer angered him even more. You knew that if things were going to work out between you and Justin you would have to get past this. Not knowing if you were doing the right thing, you reached out and took his hand. He was staring intently at the water, his face making it clear that he was upset.

"Will you look at me, please?" you asked.

He turned his head slowly and finally his eyes met yours. Good, you thought. At least you had his attention.

"Listen, Chris will always be like your big brother." "That's never gonna change and he has a right to be concerned about you, but there is something you need to know." "I would have come with you no matter what Chris said, and I told him that." "I want this relationship to work." "I want it to last, but we need to take it slow."

A slight smile came over Justin's face.

"Did you really say that to him?" His voice had an element of shock in it.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" you inquired.

"It's just that most people don't stand up to Chris when he's mad." "He's kinda got a temper."

"Well I'm glad I did." "I feel a lot better after talking to him." "He said to call him from the airport when we get back and he'd pick us up."

"NO WAY! You're incredible!" He looked into your eyes and for the first times since you had met him you saw the sparkle that had been missing. He gently laid you back on the blanket placing his lips on yours. My God, he felt good. He kissed you tenderly and you couldn't remember ever feeling the way you did at that moment. This wasn't going to be easy. He was a 19- year-old superstar. How did he really feel? Did he even know how he really felt? There were so many unanswered questions, but you had 48 hours alone with him. Hopefully, that would be enough to get some answers.

The two days flew by. As you packed to leave, you had a hard time hiding your disappointment. Justin picked up on it immediately.

"Hey, can we talk for a minute?" he asked. "What's bugging you?"

You could feel the tears coming, but had no intention of letting Justin see them.

"The week-end's over Justin." "I'm going back to New York and your going back on tour." "I'm gonna miss you."

"Gary, that's what I want to talk to you about." "It doesn't have to be like that." His voice was serious. "Come with me."

"Justin, you can't be serious." You were shocked. "I can't do that." "I have a job, an apartment." "I just can't walk away from that, and what would I come back to after the tour was over?"

"Can't or won't?" he demanded. "I thought I meant something to you!" "I thought you wanted it to work out!" "Why the fuck did you let me fall in love with you if you had no intention of staying?"

You couldn't believe what you had just heard.

"Justin, are you saying you are in love with me?" you asked softly as you reminded yourself to breathe.

"Yes, Gary, I am and I don't want us to be apart." "I'll do what ever it takes." Tears flowed down his cheeks. "Tell me you feel the same way!"

You couldn't speak. His head hung down in despair and your heart was breaking with each passing second. You lifted his chin with your hand until your eyes met. His pain was all too clear. You took your hand and tried to wipe the tears from his face, but it was no use. The tears were coming too fast. Finally, you got your composure enough to answer him.

"Yeah, Justin." "I feel the same way." He buried his head in your chest, sobbing. You held him tight trying to calm him, running your fingers through his curly hair. After several moments you could feel his breathing returning to normal. You didn't want to upset him again, but said what was weighing heavily on your mind.

"This isn't gonna be easy for either of us Justin." "You know that don't you?" "You're in the public eye constantly."

"I know Gary," he whispered, "but I'll make it work. I promise!"

Chapter 5

Back in Chicago

The phone's loud ring woke you from your peaceful slumber. You took a quick glance at the clock and wondered who could be calling this early. Damn, it was only 6:00am and you had gotten only a few hours of sleep after the commotion last night.

"Hello," you managed to say through your daze.

"Gary, it's Mark." "I'm sorry to bother you, but I wanted to check on Justin and take out the IV." "I knew if I knocked on your door I'd probably wake up the entire floor."

"No problem, Mark." "I'll leave the door cracked." "Just come on in."

You got up and staggered to the door, opening it just slightly. You turned on the hallway light as you passed and hoped that Justin wouldn't wake. Sitting back on the edge of the bed, you stared at the man who has stolen your heart. You were lost in your thoughts and didn't know Mark had made his way upstairs until you felt the bed move with the weight of his body as he sat down beside you. It was dark, but you could see his smile and it put you at ease.

"How's he doing?" Mark inquired.

"Ok, I guess." "He fell asleep right after you left."

"Well, I knew that shot I gave him would make him groggy," he said as he checked Justin's pulse. "I'm just glad he has an off day today." "He really needs to take it easy."

"I know, I've been trying to tell him that, but he's pretty stubborn."

"I talked to Mr. Wright briefly after we left last night," Mark told you. "He's concerned about how these guys are gonna hold up on this new tour." "I take it the schedule is very demanding."

"Very," you told him. " A real day off is rare." "Even on the days they are not performing they usually have an appearance or they get together to write." "It's non-stop."

You turned your head quickly as he removed the needle from the back of Justin's hand. Your stomach was feeling more than just a little squeamish. Mark caught your movement out of the corner of his eye.

"Sorry, I should have warned you." "I just figured after last night, none of this bothered you."

"Oh it does," you corrected him. "I just didn't have a choice." "You do what you have to do, and last night he needed me."

"Gary?" It was Justin's voice. Damn, you were hoping he could sleep through this.

"Hey, I'm right here." "Watcha need?" you asked.

"I'm really thirsty." "Could you get me some water?" His voice sounded stronger than you had expected and it was a relief.

"Sure, not a problem." Then you asked him, "You remember Mark, don't you?"

"Oh yeah, I remember!" He looked up at Mark nervously. "You're the guy with the needles."

Mark looked embarrassed. "Gee, I hate to be remembered that way, but I guess you're right." "I did kinda stick you a few times didn't I?"

"Yeah, you did." "I hope that's not why you're here now."

"No needles, I promise," Mark assured him, "unless you need something for that headache."

"No way!" "My head is feeling much better."

You sat down next to him and handed him a bottle of water you had gotten out of the fridge. He put it to his lips and downed half of it without taking a breath.

"Man, that hit the spot." "Thanks." "Without thinking, he leaned over and kissed your cheek. Immediately, he realized what he had done, but it was too late. Mark had seen it and there was no mistaking it. You both knew something needed to be said, but were unsure of exactly what. Mark could obviously read the concern in your faces.

"Relax, I'm not gonna tell anyone." "As long as you are both consenting adults, it's your business." "It's a private matter, and I learned a long time ago how important privacy is." I'll respect yours." "You have my word."

You could see the relief on Justin's face. He had become so accustomed to being around your close circle of friends that he had let his guard down. Sheepishly he said, " Thanks, I appreciate that." "I just wasn't thinking."

"You shouldn't have to," Mark said, "but I guess in your position you don't have much of a choice." Mark was right. At this point in Justin's career, there wasn't much choice, and you both knew it.

"Listen, I'm gonna let you guys get back to sleep." "Actually," Mark chuckled, "I could use a few more hours myself." "Justin, I know today is an off day for you and I recommend you take advantage of it." "Nice and quiet, Ok?"

"Yes, sir," Justin replied in his most respectful voice.

"Good, and if there is anything you need between now and the concert, you know where to find me."

He shook Justin's hand and then yours and turned to leave. He only made it a few steps, then stopped.

"I really hate to ask this, but can I get an autograph for my daughter?"

Justin burst out laughing. "I think we can do a little better than that." "Gary, can you hand me my Nike bag?"

You scrounged through the pile of bags until you found the one Justin needed. Finding it was not an easy task. Justin you had learned, loved clothes and never packed lightly.

Justin dug through the bag and finally located what he had been looking for.

"Here," he said, as he handed them to Mark, "I think she'll like these." It was a pair of tickets, front row of course, and two backstage passes. "When you get to the venue, wait until the meet and greet is almost over before you come backstage." "That way we can spend some time with her and she can come on stage during 'For the Girl'."

"Justin, thank you so much." "She's gonna love this." Mark was truly appreciative.

"I think that's the least I can do since I've more than interrupted your vacation." Justin said apologetically. "Any time, and remember take it easy today." "My daughter is expecting one hell of a show from you guys."

Justin chuckled, "Don't worry." "She'll get one." "I guarantee it."

With that, Mark turned and left, leaving you and Justin alone.

Chapter 6

3 days later (Feb 14th)

You had managed to get Justin up by 10:00 and headed to Chris' room to join the rest of the gang for breakfast. It had become part of the routine now. A chance for everyone to get together and enjoy a quiet meal. Somehow, you and Justin always managed to be the last ones to arrive and of course Justin's morning moods were a standard joke. The fact that Chris had announced to them that they had a previously unscheduled appearance tonight had not helped his mood.

"Justin, it's only gonna be for a couple of hours," Chris explained, " It's not that big of a deal."

"Yeah, it is Chris," Justin complained, "we're supposed to have tonight off."

"J, we'll be done by 9:00," Joey reminded him." The night is still young, in fact, I can probably sneak in a nap before hittin' the clubs."

Justin was not amused. You nudged him and motioned for him to follow you. He complied, but his body language told you he was not happy.

"Hey, I know you're disappointed," you were trying to lighten his mood, "but Chris in right." "It's only for a few hours and you'll be done early." "We can do something when you get back."

He was not convinced. "That's not the point!"

You had to laugh. "No, the point is you're not getting your way and you're pissed."

Justin smiled his sheepish grin. "Well ok, maybe a little, but I did want to do something special tonight."

"And we still can." you reminded him. "You do the appearance and I'll wait for you here." "We can make some plans when you get back."

"Why don't you just come with me?" he asked.

"Hmmm, 5,000 teen aged girls professing their undying love for you on Valentine's Day." "Sorry, I think I'll pass."

He laughed at the thought and then said, "Yeah, but you're the one I love."

"Prove it!" you teased him.

His response was quick. "I plan on it!"

9:30 PM

Justin was anxious to get the evening started. He was preoccupied during the appearance and was glad to be back at the hotel and ready to make plans for a romantic evening. He opened the hotel room door and was surprised to find it empty. He looked around disappointed to be there alone and noticed a note and room key lying on the bed.

In room 1402

You'll need an access code

to get to that floor

The code is 196

I love you,

Gary

Somewhat confused, he put the note and key in this pants pocket and headed for the elevator. Once inside the elevator, he pushed the button for the 14th floor and entered the access code on the keypad.

Not knowing what to expect, he opened the door to #1402 rather cautiously. The room was huge. Before him was the living room and kitchen of this magnificent suite.

"Gary?" he called out. There was not answer, but a smile came over his face as he saw the arrangement of roses on the living room table and the flickering light of the scented candles whose aroma filled the room. He reached for the card on the arrangement. The message was simple.

GMHS

You entered the room and walked over to Justin who was still admiring the flowers.

"You like them?" you whispered softly.

"Of course, they're beautiful," he answered. "Thank you."

He could not help but notice the single white rose amongst the three dozen red ones. Although you had been deeply in love right from the start, you had both agreed that nothing physical would happen between you until you were both 100% ready. The white rose had always been there to remind you of that special vow. Justin removed the single white rose and places it on the table. He looked at you and a single tear ran down his cheek. "Tonight's the night, Gary."

You said nothing, but took his hand and led him in the immense bathroom complete with a bubbling jacuzzi. The champagne was chilling in a bucket on the edge of the tub and the candles' glow provided just enough light. You were dressed only in a robe and Justin was quick to undo the belt exposing your naked body to his wandering eyes. He put his hands on your butt and pulled you next to him. Even through his pants, you could feel his body had already responded to the romantic setting. Holding him close like this, with his hardness next to you, you could feel your body responding as well.

Catching your breath you told him, "Justin, if we are gonna enjoy this jacuzzi, your gonna need to take your clothes off don't you think?"

Evidently, the thought had not crossed Justin's mind.

"Oh yeah, I guess that's right." Logic had escaped him. His only thoughts were of you and how badly he wanted to make love to you. He sat on the edge of the tub and quickly removed his shoes and socks tossing them to one side. He then removed his sweater allowing your eyes to see his sculptured upper body and well-defined abs.

He stood to remove his pants, but your hands stopped him. You rubbed your hands up his thighs and allowed them to linger briefly on the bulge that was straining behind his leather pants. He closed his eyes and moaned softly as you touched him, and it excited you to know that your touch could bring him such pleasure. You slowly unzipped his pants and removed them and his underwear at the same time. You stared briefly at his naked body and realized that in a very short time your lives would never be the same. After tonight there would be no going back.

You removed your robe and stepped into the steamy, bubbling water. You sat down and opened your legs so Justin could sit between them. He leaned back against you resting his back on your chest and his head on your shoulder.

"Wait, before you get comfortable, how about some champagne?" you asked.

"Sure, sounds great," Justin said eagerly. He thought that maybe a drink would help calm his nerves. He had waited for this night for a long time, but now that it was here, he could not rid his stomach of the butterflies. He filled a glass for each of you and handed you one as you reached for the remote control lying next to the tub. As you pressed play the soulful voice of Martina McBride filled the room.

If there were no words

No way to speak

I would still hear you

If there were no tears

No way to feel inside

I'd still feel for you

"Damn Gary, do you think of everything?" Justin asked sweetly.

You whispered in his ear, "When it comes to you, I try." "You deserve it."

You started kissing the back of the neck while massaging his inner thigh. Your hands inched higher and higher until they reached their final destination. You stroked him slowly and gently, allowing him to savor every second. The two of you remained like that for several minutes. You caressing him, and him enjoying his lover's touch.

"Justin," you whispered, "I want to give you your gift now."

"Excuse me?" he chuckled, "I thought those last five minutes were my gift."

"Well," you answered him with a grin, "that's our gift to each other, but I have something just for you."

You reached over to the remote control, changed the CD and pressed "play". Justin recognized the music immediately.

"It's `This I Promise You'" he said smiling.

You touched his your fingers to his lips. "Just listen."

When the vocals came on you could see the surprised look on his face. "That's not me singing."

"No, it's not," you agreed, "and it won't be JC either." "It's me."

Justin was stunned. He grabbed the remote and hit "pause", not wanting to miss a single note. "Gary, I can't believe it!" You could see he was very touched. "How did you pull this off?"

"The guys took me into the recording studio and laid down the track for the background vocals." "All the leads are me." you explained. "I wanted to sing it to you tonight, but I knew I'd never get through the song without loosing it." "Happy Valentines Day, Justin." You took the remote out of his hand, pressed "play" and placed your lips on his kissing him passionately. You kissed him through the entire song, never wanting his lips to leave yours. Finally, when the song was over you let him speak.

"I had no idea you could sing like that Gary!" "Your voice is incredible"

You blushed at the compliment. "Thanks, I'm glad you liked it."

"I loved it, Gary." "Almost as much as I love you." He paused briefly and then asked, "Can we go to the bedroom now?"

"Sure Justin" "Is that what you want?"

"Yeah," he whispered. " I want you to make love to me."

You got out of the tub, dried off quickly and he led you down the short hallway to the bedroom. It had an immense skylight, which allowed the night's full moon to illuminate the room. You pulled back the bedspread, revealing the red satin sheets that covered the bed. Seemingly from out of nowhere, Justin produced a small box, neatly wrapped.

"Hope you like it, Happy Valentines, Gary."

You opened the box and its contents puzzled you. It was one of Justin's rings and a key.

"Ok, let me explain." "I knew you would be confused." "The ring is mine." "I was gonna buy you one, but I wanted you to have something that belonged to me." "I don't' know why, but that was really important to me." "Look at the inscription."

You picked up the ring. I had always been one of your favorites. A white gold band with a row of diamonds across the top. He had worn it everywhere, and once it was on your finger you would never take it off. The inscription read.

GDM 143 JRT 2-14-00

"Justin, thank you." "It's beautiful." He took the ring and slipped it on your finger.

"That's better." "That's where it belongs, and the key," he continued, "is the rest of your present." "Your "beamer" is parked at Chris and Danni's."

"Justin, you're crazy!" "You can't just buy me a car."

"Sure I can," he laughed, "I just did!"

He pushed you back on the smooth satin sheets.

"Now, where were we?" He laid on top of you and kissed you amorously. His hands caressed your chest and slowly moving lower and lower until he was stroking you and you could hear yourself moaning with desire. After several minutes, Justin stopped abruptly.

"Gary, I'm ready," he whispered.

You knew you had hurt him initially, but you kissed him lightly several times and his body had relaxed. He held you tightly as your body exploded in a climax that left you breathless and unable to move for several minutes. He was a tender lover, stroking your hair and rubbing your back as you recovered.

At last, you were able to speak.

"Any regrets?" you asked quietly.

"None yet," Justin replied as he rolled over and positioned himself on top of you.

"Can I be your first, Gary?" His voiced was filled with anticipation.

"Yes, Justin, my first, my last and everything in between."

When he entered you, the tears came freely; not from the discomfort, but from the knowledge that Justin was making love to you, just as you had to him.

Justin screamed with ecstasy as his orgasm wracked his body. You held him tightly knowing his pleasure.

There would be no more white roses. That was in the past. You were no longer just a couple. You were lovers.

Will Be Continued.....
