Chapter #40
The Heritage Bank lobby was buzzing with the noise of people talking with tellers, and several floor managers were involved with bank clients. Catherine, Henry Masters' secretary, was on the telephone as we approached, and I leaned my head toward Derek and asked, "Do you think we should have called first?"
"That might have been a good idea." He replied, as he scanned the hubbub around us. "He didn't tell your mother anything except he wanted to see us."
I still could not get used to Derek referring to 'us' when speaking of things that he considered to involve both of us. But I let it slide knowing that he wouldn't accept being told otherwise. Honestly speaking though, it did feel good inside of me that he did consider us as being totally involved together; a complete couple.
"My Kingsley, Mr. Marks, so good to see you." Catherine said, smiling brightly as she sat the telephone receiver in its cradle. "Mr. Masters left instructions that you were to go right in when you arrived."
"Would you know what he wants, Catherine?" Derek asked, cocking his head inquisitively.
"No, I don't," she said as she stood up behind her desk. "I didn't know that he had called you until he came in this morning and told me that you would be coming in and that he wanted to see you immediately."
"That sounds a bit ominous doesn't it, Larry." He replied as he turned to glance at me.
"I'm not sure about that, D," I said. "Unless you are basing it on the last time we were here."
"Ugh, I don't even want to think about that," he replied with a tone of distaste as we went into Masters' office.

Contrary to Derek's prophecy, Masters stood up behind his desk smiling broadly as we entered.
"Derek, Larry!" He exclaimed as he approached with his hand extended. "It's good to see you; what can I offer you, coffee, tea, or perhaps a cold drink?"
"A Pepsi would be good," Derek said, looking at me with a surprised look as Masters pumped his hand vigorously.
"Me too," I said as I submitted to a repeat performance of how not to, in my opinion, shake a man's hand unless you are attempting to remove his arm from its shoulder socket.
"I think that can be arranged, and I'll have another coffee, Catherine," Masters said airily as he moved around his desk to his chair, waving an arm in the general direction of the chairs we had occupied the last time we were there.
"Yes, Sir," Catherine replied, leaving quietly as we took our seats.
As we sat down, Masters pulled his high back chair closer to his desk, waiting momentarily for us to sit down. No sooner than we had, he smiled, and said, "Well now, Derek, are you enjoying the Monte Carlo? I must say you selected a fine automobile."
"Thank you, Sir, I believe we did," Derek replied, glancing at me as he spoke. "It's out in the bank's parking lot if you would care to look at it."
"No...no, I've seen one or two driving around," he replied, entwining his fingers and looking at each of us and then looking back at Derek. "That is not the reason that I called and asked you to come in. I received a call from your sister, and I understand she will be in town for your graduation," he said, hesitating and taking a deep breath.
"And?" Derek said in an inquiring tone.
"Well...,I don't quite know how to ask this, Derek, but when she asked for assistance in making her reservations, she didn't say how long she would be staying, and I was wondering if there were any other items on her itinerary while she is here?"
Derek, smiling impishly said, "You want to know whether Charlene and I will be discussing what has happened since my father and I had our disagreement plus possibly merging our holdings with an eye to removing him from the company - right?"
Squirming slightly, Masters looked at me and then shifted his gaze back to Derek. Except for the sound of the ice clinking in our glasses, the room went silent while Catherine finished distributing our drinks and then she asked, "Will there be anything else?"
Glancing at us and then at Catherine, Masters said, "Not for now, Catherine, I'll call you if we need anything."
Catherine nodded her acknowledgment and quietly disappeared through the door she had entered by.
The room was quiet for a few seconds while Masters sipped his coffee and gazed across his desk at us. "That is one of the things that I always admired about your Grandmother, Derek," he said as he set his cup in its saucer. "She always came straight to the point, and it is obvious that you have inherited that trait."
"I would like to think so," Derek replied. "Grandmother always said there was no need to beat around a bush when you know what you want, and, other than a hypothetical answer, I can't answer your question until I talk with Charlene."
"I hate to sound so insistent about it, Derek, but I'm sure you understand the bank's position. As your grandmother appointed the bank trustee of the trust and the company is an integral part of the trust, we do have an interest in the future of the company. Although not all of it, it is a considerable portion of the trust's assets."
"I do understand, Mr. Masters," Derek replied glancing at me and continuing. "Mr. Winters is handling my affairs for now, and he is looking into the terms of the trust as well as the management of the company. We intend to discuss everything that has occurred with my sister after she arrives. The recent events are certainly not the first thing on the agenda though, we have other things to catch up on first."
"I'm sure you do," Masters replied in a demure tone of voice. "In the meantime, I've made the reservations at the Ballinger as your sister requested, and as I said earlier they are open ended since she did not tell me how long she would be staying."
"She asked me to remind you about them," Derek replied as he stood. "I really can't say how long she will be staying, and right now things are in a state of flux, so, if there is nothing else, we have a ton of things to do before graduation."
"Only one thing more, Derek," Masters said as he stood, moved from behind his desk and walked with us to the door. "I would appreciate your asking Mr. Winters to keep the bank apprised of any pertinent information that he thinks we should be aware of."
"I don't think that should be difficult, and, as soon as we have discussed things with Charlene, I'll be sure to ask him to stay in touch with you as necessary."
"Good, and would you give my regards to your sister?" Masters asked as he opened the door.
"I surely will," Derek replied.

As we left the bank, we saw two young men dressed in attire that indicated they worked at the bank looking at the Monte Carlo in its parking space, its highly polished blue-black finish reflecting the bright sunlight with the brilliance of a many faceted gem. As we reached the car and started to open the doors, one of them, in an incredulous tone, asked, "Hey, you guys driving this?"
"No," I replied quickly. "We aren't driving it, he is," I said, nodding at Derek and grinning.
"Oh, a couple of wise ass kids driving their old man's car," the larger of the two replied huffily as we closed the car doors.
"Wrong on both counts," Derek replied out the window as he started the car.
The guy jumped back as Derek pulled out of the parking spot, and the inquisitor said something that we didn't understand although I am sure it was not complimentary.
Derek was becoming more adept at driving around the city since he had acquired his learner's permit. I had learned not too comment too quickly unless there was an imminent danger of collision or some other serious problem. Not unlike me, he didn't take kindly to being criticized about his driving. Emotionally and physically, he was a magnificent lover, but he had a quick tongue, and a fiery temperament. I was learning that in some cases prudence was the better part of valor. Inhaling deeply, and leaning back in the seat, I discreetly watched as he maneuvered the car through traffic.
When we reached Dad's station, he forgot to use the built in turn signal located on the steering column, but he did extend his arm indicating a turn. We had barely driven onto the macadam when Morgan came dashing out of the station's brake adjustment and oil change bay. He was dressed in well-worn tight jeans, a very old pair of Air Jordan sneakers, and a non-descript open-throated blue pullover at least one size too small. If he intended to dress for effect, he had achieved his goal admirably. The clean sculpted beauty of his chest and abdominal muscles was breathtaking, and the pronounced bulge in his crotch left very little to the imagination. Knowing him as I thought I did, I doubted that Morgan would have even realized the effect he might have on some men not so magnificently built or endowed as he was. Depending on his tendencies and desires, his previous statements concerning his sexuality notwithstanding, he was a diamond in the rough waiting to be polished by the right female or perhaps male.
"Hi, Derek; hi Larry," he called out with his usual exuberance as he followed the car to a stop. "I've been waiting for you."
"I'd say that was obvious, wouldn't you, Derek?"
"I should think so," he replied glancing at me with a look of astonishment in his eyes as he said, "And, I can think of someone who is probably waiting for him as we speak."
I knew exactly who Derek was referring to, Micah. By discreet innuendo Micah had revealed he was gay and that Morgan intrigued him. If Micah had been intrigued while Morgan was in a state of being almost naked, I couldn't help but wonder how he would react when he saw Morgan dressed as provocatively as he was. My mind was still in a state of puzzlement when I heard Morgan innocently ask, "Who's gonna be waiting for me, Derek?"
"Micah, Morgan," Derek answered with a twinkle in his eyes as he looked at me over the car's roof. "You remember him, don't you? He did the fitting of your new suit when we were at Hoffmeyer's, and that's where we are going if it's okay with Mr. Marks."
"And the sooner the better," Dad said, chuckling as he came up to the car. "Morgan hasn't been worth beans all morning what with wondering when you two were going to get here."
"I did my work, Mr. Marks," Morgan said just as I was about to speak. "Just like I always do."
"Sure you did, Morgan. I was just funning you that's all," Dad responded, looking at Derek and me. "He did his work and kept a steady lookout for you guys even though I told him you wouldn't forget him."
"He knows we wouldn't forget him, Dad," I replied.
"I know that, Son," he said, looking at Morgan and Derek talking as he continued softly. "Try convincing him of that though; he thinks just a little differently."
"Yeah, I know, Dad, maybe when this is all over things will return to normal."
"I have my doubts about that, Son, for a number of reasons. I don't think things will ever be as they were, Larry. Trying to return is usually wasted effort. I don't dwell on what has been but rather on what can be," he said as he placed his hand on my shoulder. "Mother told me you and Derek were going to the bank this morning, is everything all right"
"It was nothing really, Uncle Chris," Derek answered when he heard Dad. "Mr. Masters was concerned about my sister, Charlene, visiting and was wondering whether we were plotting anything the bank should know about, that's all."
"Plotting?" Dad replied cocking one eyebrow quizzically.
"That may have been the wrong word to use, but I guess from his viewpoint you could call it plotting; he wants to be sure the bank knows whether we are going to be doing things that might affect the trust our grandmother set up. I don't see how that is possible, but we will find out from Mr. Winters when we see him. I'm going to suggest to Charlene that we talk with him about what has happened between our father and me."
"Hmmmm," Dad mused studiously for a moment. "I wouldn't take his concerns too lightly, Derek. People invest a lot of trust in a bank, and bankers have to be careful when handling people's money, Son, and I'm sure that's all Henry is concerned about," he said. "In any case, you have one of the best on your side in Merrill, and he won't steer you wrong."
"I had that feeling from the first time we met, and I like him a lot," Derek replied. "But, instead of standing here and talking, we better be going. Are you ready, Morgan?"
"He was ready before we got here, D." I replied as I held the seat back for Morgan to crawl into the back seat."
¥¥¥¥¥
As we were pulling away, I heard dad call out something like "take it easy", and I stuck my arm out of the window and waved. Derek slowed to check the oncoming traffic before pulling away from the station into the traffic. Twisting around, I looked at Morgan and asked, "Excited?"
His eyes lit up and his face broke into a huge smile as he exclaimed, "Yeah, I didn't sleep a wink last night from thinking about graduating."
"Morgan, have your parents said anything about being at your graduation?" Derek asked as we pulled up to a traffic light.
I saw a glint of sadness in Morgan's eyes as he lowered his head and said dejectedly, "Nah, I don't think they've thought about it since I asked them. I thought maybe my sister might come, but she told me she and her boy-friend had made other plans before she knew that I was gonna be graduating."
Turning around and placing my arm on the back of the seat, I said, "I never knew your sister had a boy-friend, Morgan; how long have they been together?"
"Not very long," he answered lowering his head and picking at his fingernails. "It probably won't last, she never does stick with anyone for very long."
Reaching out and placing my hand on his shoulder, I squeezed gently as I glanced at Derek and said, "Give her time, Morgan, the right guy might come along someday, and then she will make you an uncle."
"Maybe," he replied, breathing in deeply and sighing audibly as he exhaled.
¥¥¥¥¥
We rode in silence for a minute or two until Morgan suddenly said, "Derek, a little while ago when you said someone was waiting for me, you meant, Micah, the guy at the store where we got my clothes, didn't you?"
"Yes I did, why?" Derek replied, glancing into the rearview mirror and then looking at me.
"I was just wondering, that's all," Morgan said, looking first at me and then at Derek. "We only met that one time, and I was wondering why he would be waiting to see me."
Derek glanced at me, open-mouthed and with a look of frustration on his face. Leaning toward him and grinning, I muttered softly, "One time was enough."
"For whom," Derek replied winking at me impishly, his eyes twinkling as he looked into the rearview mirror at Morgan and said, "You only met Micah once Morgan, and afterwards when we were having lunch at Friendly's, you said from the way he was hitting on you that you thought he was gay, didn't you?"
"Well, sort of, I guess," he replied, fidgeting a little as he spoke.
"Are you nervous about seeing him again, Morgan?" I asked just as Derek was about to speak.
"No, not really, Larry," he replied quickly, breathing in deeply and exhaling softly as he continued. "I kind of like him even if he is gay, but I'm not sure what to do if he should hit on me like he did the last time. He surprised me, and he didn't say anything right out; but, from the way he was looking at me and touching me while he was using the measuring tape and telling me how nice my physique was, I had a feeling he was gay. But, when he sort of played with my balls when he pushed the tape up into my crotch, I was pretty sure he was."
"He did what?" Derek cried out.
Morgan looked at me wide-eyed for a moment before saying, "He sort of played with my balls, but from what he told me it couldn't be helped; at least I don't think it could. He had to use one hand to sort of hold my cock and balls to the side while he put the end of his measuring tape all the way up in my crotch so he could measure how long my pant legs would be. He used something like a piece of chalk, and he was making marks on the suit and writing down numbers. He said he had to do it that way so the tailor would know where to sew in the cuff and make adjustments so it would fit comfortably."
"Micah was right, Morgan," I replied. "That's the way they do it to be sure your suit fits like it should. Did it bother you when Micah touched you while he was taking the measurements?"
"It sort of surprised me at first but, no, it didn't bother me, Larry. To be honest it kind of felt good," he said, grinning sheepishly as he looked at me.
"How do you mean it felt good, Morgan?" Derek asked, glancing over at me and then turning his head quickly to look at Morgan.
I could see the color rising in his face, and he was fidgeting with his fingers as he struggled to answer Derek's inquiry. I admit that I was curious myself, and I was about to say something when, looking at me and then at Derek, he said, "Ohhhh...,I don't know, Derek, I wasn't completely naked; I was still wearing my underwear. I was surprised at first even though the way he was touching me made me feel different; but when he wrapped his fingers around my balls with the rest of his hand covering my cock, I got a tingling feeling all over, and I could feel my cock starting to get bigger. I don't know whether he knew it or not, but when he took his hand away, he looked up at me and his eyes sort of twinkled when he said, "Sorry about that."
"What would you have done, Morgan, if he hadn't moved his hand away and you got a full erection?" I asked.
"I don't know, Larry," he replied, breathing heavily and unconsciously licking his lips as he looked at me and then at Derek. "I guess it's something like when we were in high school and wrestling. I didn't know why, but I liked the feeling of the other guys pressing against me, and when we were wrestling, I liked feeling your body against mine. It was exciting feeling your hard muscles, and when we squeezed each other, it was exciting. It was even more exciting when I felt your cock pressing against mine and we both were hard. It really made me feel good thinking that you felt the same way that I did, and I'd get a tingling feeling all over. I felt the same way the other day when Micah was touching me, and I liked it, but I don't know what I would have done if he hadn't stopped."
"Welllllll," Derek drawled as he pulled into the Hoffmeyer parking lot. "We might find out today."
