After we finished makin' out, Eddie had the idea to check our place for bugs. "what...she never went over there." "Yeah, but if she knew where ya work, she's gotta know where you live, or one of her heinous henchmen would. Ya never know, this bim might have her ways." Eddie folded his arms, looked me in the eye and half-whispered through gritted teeth, "somethin' tells me this is one hell of a hateful harlot". I was really blown away, not by his theory, so much as just by him. Folded arms, which scrunch up his broad shoulders, the passion in his eyes, the sturdiness of his lips while he spoke. He looked at me as if expecting an answer of some kind, but I was a million miles away. I imagined a black satin cape on his shoulders, going down his back, parts of which would be shiny depending on the sort of light it took onto, moon, sun, a bulb, you name it, to about mid-thigh.

Oh, yeah, this kid is one killer superhero, the way he just leaps into action. The best thing about our little scrapes of earlier on was just watchin' him through it all. He's a great fighter, a real ally, a real true protector. Bullets that woulda wiped me out were sort of split between us two, like God was makin' sure we'd both stayed alive. If we ain't met, could we have carried on by ourselves, each of us on one side of the city, each of us guarding this town like a couple of sentries. Ya know, we maybe coulda gone on by ourselves, but that there's all water under the bridge, now, ain't it.

This beautiful hunk of muscle with a shimmering black cape catching a breeze and just sort of flowin' all around him, wrappin' him up in somethin' - God this was beautiful. He kept callin' out to me like a chant or somethin' "Boss-Man, Boss-Man" Now he was wearing a mask and peerin' out from the eye holes, still, "boss-man?" He seemed to be gettin' closer, "are you okay?"

Right then and there I blinked, "uh, what?" I forgot where I was. It was like I'd been knocked out. I regained my senses. There was no cape and mask, but I sure as shootin' wouldn't-a minded if there was, boy, I tell ya.

"you all right? what was the matter, what were ya starin' at?" I laughed at myself, put my arm around him as we started walkin'. "Kid, you wouldn't believe me for nuthin' in a million years. Lemme ask ya this, though, ya ever dress up for halloween or anythin'?" "Huh?"
