Chapter 13: Thirteen's never a good number... (The next day)
I woke up around nine in the morning, now that I have an assistant to keep track of things for me I seem to be waking up and going bed at decent times. Feels weird.
Anyway, I woke up around nine and walked into the living room area of the hotel room that TV and couch and a couple of big chairs were there...so I sat down and turned on the TV. Brian walked in a couple of minutes later.
"Hey hottie," I told him as he walked in.
"Yeah, super sexy with major need of shaving and wearing clothes with holes..." he mumbled.
"I like you in the rugged look..." I said as he sat down next to me on the couch I took his hand in mine and we watched the morning news, soon I got uninterested and changed it to Cartoon Network.
"Cartoons?" he asked groggily.
"Hey," I said in my defense, "cartoons are my refuge from the real world when I'm alone."
He remained quiet, not saying a single word, normally he'd say something corny like: `I won't ever leave you alone again', but he didn't even look at me.
"Brian..." I said slowly, I was going to ask him what was wrong. Then when he looked he looked so heartbroken, I felt as though I had done something wrong so I decided that he'd tell me when he was ready, "um...let's order some breakfast."
"You don't eat breakfast," he said flatly.
"I want to this morning, I can share it with you..." I said sweetly, trying to get him to open up.
Well I did eat breakfast that morning...although I dreaded doing it, God I hate eggs! But I kept trying to get him to open up, but he never really explained what he felt, he said things like the tour is coming along well' I can't believe it's been eight months' and `the fans are really great this time around'. Like I cared! I wanted to talk about what was wrong with him...but I knew if I outright asked him he'd feel like I was prying or pressuring him or something.
After we finished breakfast we showered together, but he so cold acting that we didn't even do anything. After that he said he had to go see someone, he didn't say whom and I didn't ask, I trust him, besides if its business he'll have Kevin with him, and if its personal he'll probably have Nick with him. But no one is in New York...
Well I decided to go shopping and wandered the stores from around ten thirty until noon, then I decided to call Kevin. Kevin was originally going to Myrtle Beach with his wife for a vacation, but one of her family members became sick and she went to see him, so Brian decided to fly to New York to visit Brian. His flight was supposed to come in late last night, so I figured he's be well rested by now.
"This is Kevin," he said when he answered his cell phone.
"I know where you are...I can see your every move, Richardson...you'll do as I say..." I spoke in a low voice into my cell phone.
"Who the hell is this?" he said.
"It's Mike," I said dropping the act, "meet me at the Pier 17 mall, ok?
"Sure, I'm close by now," he said, "why?"
"I wanna shop and have some lunch...see you in a few..." I said before we said our goodbyes and hung up.
Well I found Kevin pretty easily and we shopped for about a half-hour before heading to the food court level of the mall and getting some lunch.
"Thank God!" I said.
"What?" he asked.
"I had to eat breakfast this morning and I'm glad for real food..." I said as I took a bite of my pizza, "nothing as good as New York pizza!"
"Cut the crap, Michael," Kevin said bluntly, "what do you really want?"
"Fine," I said as I wiped my mouth with my napkin, "what the hell is wrong with Brian?"
"Oh..." he said as he looked at his food instead of me awful suddenly, "I'm not really sure...he's been acting distant lately, though...hasn't he?"
"Yeah," I agreed, I knew he was lying. He knew something and didn't want to say anything, that really irked me, but I wasn't going to say anything.
After we finished lunch we did a little more shopping before I took off my hat to scratch my head and a girl noticed who I was, needless to say that Kevin and I had to leave the mall quickly.
After that the day was uneventful until around eleven, and by the way, Brian didn't get back until three, so he had been gone a long time, and I didn't ask where he went, but my mood was now a lot like Brian's because I knew that Kevin had lied to me...
"Mike..." Brian started at just about eleven, "I have something to tell you..."
"Yeah," I was thrilled that he was opening up to me.
"During the tour..." he said, "I...I had a relationship with someone else, a pretty serious one at that...and I don't know what to do..."
He started to cry...I was crushed but I had to tell him something too...
"Brian..." I was crushed and breathless, but I forced myself to talk, "I...I think that we need a break...NOW!"
I grabbed my coat and headed for the door.
"MIKE NO!!" he yelled from behind me.
"What?" I spun with tears in me eyes.
"Don't go...we can work this out..."
"Work what out?" I said.
"We can work THIS out!" he argued.
"There isn't anything to work out, Brian," I said coldly while drying my eyes, "simply because there is no us..."
"Michael..." he murmured.
"I don't why I have my jacket!" I said, "this is my room, so kindly get out!"
With that, Brian picked up his coat and cell phone and walked out the door I had opened.
"I'm sorry..." he said softly under his breath as he walked out.
I slammed the door.
"I know..." I whispered as I slunk down to floor crying, "I am too..."
