Hey there! Ole Andy is back again on the dance floor :) Here's the second part of Dreams of an Angel. Never thought I'd get that much of a positive feedback. I thought I'd bored you all to death. Heh, looks like Drew has got himself a competition! Sorry bro ;). Oh well, thanks for the feedback guys and gals. I take it I did ok for an amateur. Well, I'll try my best. Just sit down, relax, and let me be your pleasure master... eh... now that sounds a bit dodgy. Forget what I just said :P
Onwards to the boring part! Legal matters! Hehehe. You can press 'fast-forward' now.
Well, first of all, this story, as you will certainly find out soon, is TOTALLY fictional. So! If any of you truly believe in it... well, my brother is studying psychiatry right now for his final medical examination in April, so maybe I'll just refer you to him. You'd make a good delusional subject. Secondly! None of the guys in the Backstreet Boys are gay! (No matter how hard I wished it :P). But nobody say we couldn't dream it, heh heh. Thirdly, Warren Worthington is actually a character from Marvel Comics, X-men known as Angel or recently Archangel. Okay fine, I admit it. I'm bored and I am making a pathetic attempt to make life a lil' bit interesting. Its not like I'm gonna publish it or something. What else to talk about hmm? Oh, there may be some adult gay scenes in this story. Unlike my brother, I don't mind writing naughty stuff ;) so! If you're underage, naughty, naughty! I can only ask you to go away, but I cannot do anything else to stop you from reading on anyway. Hell! I've been sneaking into the internet to watch gay porns since I was 13! So, if your parents or whoever responsible for you catch you, don't say I didn't warned you. However, if you're homophobic... well maybe I can seduce you enough to turn you around heh heh. I do so love a challenge ;)
Anyway, enough talk. Any comments or boos or suggestion or whatever, just sent it to the same address as in NNTs, goldenknightuk@yahoo.co.uk . Yeah, we shared the same address. Don't ask. Long story.
Okay then! On to the show. Don't choke now. Sit back, and relax. Pretend I'm massaging your back while you're reading this, hehe ;)
Andy
"I take it you enjoyed the show?"
Warren looked at Johnny Wright wearily and smiled.
"Well, Jubilee here seems to enjoyed it better than me. It was great anyway." Warren answered.
Johnny laughed as Jubilee gave him a shy smile.
"Well maybe you'll enjoy it a lot more when you meet the guys backstage."
Jubilee's eyes widened right before she screamed again while Warren groaned.
"Johnny, please! Don't provoke her!!"
Johnny laughed again before taking Warren by the arm and led him to the exit.
"Come on, Warren. Liven up. You're too tense." He said. "Just like your father. It must run within the family."
"You're not the one who has to sit beside a crazed 18 years old girl who prefer to do nothing but scream for hours."
"Well anyway, it's good to see you out and about again, Warren. The people up at the Worthington Industries are starting to think that they own the whole damn empire."
"So I noticed. I set them straight though."
"The king has returned to the throne, huh?" Johnny smiled. "Heard you actually humiliated Daniel Hawthorne in your board meeting last week."
Warren face darkened briefly. Daniel Hawthorne was one of his executive officers he knew he couldn't trust; yet he needed him in the company because of his network of business contacts. But in the board meeting last week, he dared to make some disparaging remarks about 'mutant-freaks' leading the Worthington Industries, thinking that he was not there to hear it. All of his board members knew he was a mutant - its impossible to hide such fact from them - but of all of them, only Daniel seems to have problems with it. If he weren't bound by his contract, he'd probably have told the world about Warren years ago. Well, Daniel has paid the price for his rudeness. If Warren has his ways, he would have fired Daniel on the spot, but the company has to come first. He needs Daniel's contact on some of the business deals he has an eye on at the present. Once his usefulness is over, he's as good as dead.
"His days in the Worthington Industries are numbered. Once I get what I want from him, he's gone."
"Glad to hear that. I don't like him anyway and so does your father. But you have to be careful with him. He's a very resourceful young man. Don't underestimate him."
"Duly noted." Warren replied.
"So Jubilee!" said Johnny. "Which of the guys do you fancy?"
Warren smiled as Jubilee blushed.
"I think its either Nick or AJ." Warren answered for her. "I heard her declaring her love just now during the concert. But then, the amount of screams she gave to all of them are evenly distributed so, I'm not that sure..."
"Quit it, you overgrown pigeon!" Jubilee grumbled darkly under her breath, causing Warren and Johnny to laugh.
"Speaking of pigeons, how did you hide your wings, Warren?" Johnny asked curiously as he studied Warren's back. "I couldn't even see any trace of it. If you strapped it behind your back and cover it with you coat, I should at least see some traces of it."
Warren smiled and showed the image inducers strapped at his belt.
"Image inducers. They can make anything with technology nowadays."
"Damn. You mean its actually fully expose behind you right now, but invisible?"
Warren gently brush Johnny's back with one of his wings
"Should I explain it to you more?"
"Hmm... that image inducers could fetch a huge amount of money if put into the market, you know. Think about it..." Johnny was cut short when Kevin rushed up to meet him.
"Johnny! Something's wrong with Nick!"
"What?" Johnny barked out. "What happened?"
"I don't know. Right after the show, he rushed off backstage and started vomiting."
Johnny cursed under his breath and strode towards the common room. Warren and Jubilee followed behind them in silence.
"Have you called the medic?" asked Johnny.
"They're on their way." Kevin answered.
They arrived at the common room only to find Nick lying on the couch, barely conscious. Brian, Howie and AJ hovered over him worriedly.
"Nick! What happened?" Johnny rushed to the semi-conscious young man and knelt beside him worriedly. He looked up when Warren put a hand onto his shoulder.
"Johnny, a colleague of mine taught me some basic emergency medical training. Let me take a look and I'll see if I can help him." Said Warren.
"Thanks Warren." Said Johnny. "The rest of you, clear the room. Give him some air."
"You sure he's gonna be alright?" Brian asked Warren anxiously.
"He's going to be okay. His vitals seem fine and he doesn't seem to be running a fever. He looks a bit dehydrated though, probably due to the vomiting. A drink of water should fix that." Warren reassured him calmly. "Go with your friends. Jube, go with them will you? Brian, can you look after Jube here?"
"Umm..." said Jubilee uncertainly as a blush crept up her face.
Brian gave her a small smile and placed his arm around her.
"C'mon. The others are waiting in the next room. My name is Brian. Are you a fan?"
The medic came in to check up on Nick five minutes later, and Warren stood up to give a brief summary of his findings to them. The doctor examines Nick, who has by that time fallen out of consciousness. In moments, he stood up and agreed with Warren that Nick is going to be fine provided that he has some rest away from the crowds.
"It's probably stress-related and those screaming crowds out there during the show does not makes things any better. This is the last show for the tour, I understand?" asked the doctor.
"Yes. They are bound to Orlando right after the show." Johnny answered.
The doctor shook his head.
"No, I don't think its wise to make him travel in that confining tour bus all the way to Orlando at his present state. He needs a day or two of proper rests in a proper bed, away from crowds or closed-space, before he is fit to travel again. I suggest you find him a good hotel for him to rest there. Considering that this is the last show, I don't think you'll have anything to lose, Mr. Wright."
Warren looked at Johnny enquiringly, who is no doubt thinking of the extra expenses he has to cover for this turn of event.
"I own several hotels here in LA, Johnny. In fact, I'm currently staying at one near here. Why don't you send them there? I'll order some rooms prepared for them and they can stay there as long as they want until they are ready to leave, all expenses on me."
"Oh come now, Warren. I cannot impose that on you." Johnny protest. Warren simply chuckled.
"Hey, what are old friends for?" said Warren. "My dad trusted you. So I know I can trust you too. Besides, I own half of the shares in Jive. These guys are as important to me as they are to you."
"Nick?"
His mind must have kicked in again, because he can actually hear Brian's voice. Or maybe he has become delusional. The headache is gone; thank God. That pain is no joke. But his body still feels weak and he's very, very thirsty.
How long has he been out? For that matter, when did he pass out? He remembered vomiting, and Brian and the rest holding him, carrying him to the common room. Then? Then he finds himself flying in La-la land. God, he really needs a vacation.
"Nick?"
A stab of worry flows into his mind. Now, why should I be worried? I am content in lying here, body stretched out on the couch, doing nothing. Just rest, and close my eyes and sleeeeeeeeepppppp....
"Nick, if you can hear me, wake up. Please."
Hmm... Brian must be really worried about him too. He can hear it in his voice. Better wake up. Not fair letting Brian worried about him like that. The guy can be worst than his own mom when it comes to worrying. Ooops, Brian is getting up. Better answer now before Brian goes out of the room. Where are the others anyway?
"Brian?" Nick could hear his own voice croaking through his lips. God, he's thirsty.
"Nick! You're awake!" A touch of happiness and relief etched Brian's voice. "How are you feeling, buddy?"
"Thirsty..." Nick replied as he opened his eyes and his gaze fell onto Brian's relieved face.
"Here," Brian picked up a glass and a jug filled with water, and filled the glass with it. "Drink this. The doc said you are dehydrated. Better drink it down before you become a living mummy. Don't think any of your fans like that. Unless they are necrophiliacs."
Nick drinks down the fluid a touch greedily. Sweet Jesus! He is thirsty.
"More..." he mumbled when he finished the whole glass. At least his voice has improved. His body still feels weak though.
"More it is." Said Brian as he filled the glass again and placed it at Nick's mouth. "Hey, hey! Slowly! Don't want you to choke on it. You passed out before, I don't want you to pass out again."
"Sorry." Said Nick before he drinks it all down again, more slowly.
"Feeling better?" asked Brian when Nick finally had enough.
"Weak."
"Small wonder. You threw up all your dinner after the show. Cause a bit of a mess too. You got to start all over again."
"How long was I out?"
"About an hour. Kevin is talking with Johnny and Warren. AJ and Howie are with Jubilee."
"Warren? Jubilee?" asked Nick, confused.
"Warren is the multi-millionaire big-shot Kevin was talking about. Jubilee is his friend. Nice girl. A bit awe-struck but nice enough."
Dimly, Nick remembered the man and the girl he saw at the VIP booth during the concert.
"Blond hair, blue-eyes, about Kevin's height?" Remembering the man again caused Nick to remember him finding how beautiful this Warren is. Shaking his thought out of that hole, he sat up, gratefully accepting Brian's help.
"That's the guy. Nice fellow though, for a millionaire. About Kevin's age, but not as tight-ass as Kevin. He offered us a place to stay at his hotel near here, expenses free, until you're fit to travel again."
"Thank God!" Nick sighed, relieved. "I don't think I can stand being cooped up in the bus tonight. My mind is still in shambles right now. Wait a minute. Did you say expenses free?"
"Yeah!" Brian laughed. "He owns the damn hotel. As a matter of fact, he owns about seven other hotels right here in LA, not to mention the rest of the country. That man's loaded."
Nick only smiled. As long as he has some peace and quiet time all by himself, enough to get his mind back in order again, he doesn't care if this Warren is the king of the world.
"But you and Kevin planned to go back home to see your wives once this show is over."
"Since we're not taking the bus, Kevin and I are flying home tomorrow. AJ and Howie the day after. Warren promised to look after you should you still need time to recover by then. He's a nice guy, Nick. Johnny and him goes a long way back and Johnny trusted him."
Nick could feel his stomach making a somersault. About an hour ago, he thought that Warren was gorgeous looking - a VERY unsettling thought. Now they want him to stay a couple of days with the man? Someone up there must really have a grudge against him! At the same time, here's a chance for some peace and quiet time. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. It MUST be the headache talking an hour ago. The pain must have messed up his mind so bad he'd find President George Bush dressed in a thong gorgeous. Now THAT is enough to win him a nightmare or two tonight.
Nick closed his eyes and leaned against the couch.
"God! I need a vacation." He murmured.
"Well, the tour's over. Here's your chance. Maybe Warren has a daughter or two and you can hook up and score yourself a multi-billionaire father-in-law." Brian smiled cheerfully.
"Now, that is an interesting possibility." Nick smiled in return. "Is he married? Does he have any daughter?"
"Beats me. You have to ask him."
The limo drove up to the front entrance of the hotel, and stopped. Nick looked up, impressed to the sight of the reception desk alone. If this is a hotel, then Nick's only guess is it's for those people waaaay beyond a boyband singer. Sure, they have been to many exclusive hotels in the past, but never as grand as this! This must be a place designed for 'the' exclusives - meaning royalties like Queen Elizabeth II of England, or the Pope, or the President and if Queen Cleopatra is still alive, she would choose to stay at this place too!
"Sweet Jesus. This place is grand!" said AJ and next to him, Howie whistled appreciatively.
The chauffeur opened the door for them and they got out, suddenly feeling out of place. No wonder Johnny was worried of the thought of having to pay for any expenses here.
"Kev, are we at the right place?" asked Brian softly.
"That's the address Johnny gave us." Kevin replied uncertainly.
"Shoot, if we have to pay for our stay here, I think I'd clear out all of my accounts within 2 weeks!" said AJ.
"Well, Johnny said its expenses free. So I don't think we have to worry about that." Kevin answered.
They walked to the reception in silence. From a door to their right, Joan Collins glided out and passed them without even sparing them a glance. Here and there, familiar faces of the rich and famous appeared and disappeared from their view.
"There you guys are! I thought you got lost!"
The guys looked to the left and saw Warren striding towards them. Brian noticed that Nick's eyes widened a little before shaking his head slightly as if pushing away a thought.
"Pleased to meet you again, Mr. Worthington." Said Kevin respectfully.
"No, no, no!" Warren shook his head empathically as he shook Kevin's hand, "Call me Warren. Mr. Worthington is my father and I'm not THAT old. I'm only 29."
He turned to Nick and smiled.
"How're you feeling, Nick? Better?"
"I've felt better, thanks for asking." Nick replied quite cautiously. Brian looked at him curiously.
"Well, you should be fine after you get some rest. I've arranged separate rooms for each of you. Follow me and I'll show you to your rooms. Don't worry about securities or fans. You'll not be bothered at all here."
"Thanks, Warren." Said Brian. "We appreciate all this."
"Not a problem at all Brian. It's late and you and Kevin have your flight tomorrow. I'll take you to your rooms and arranged for a late dinner to be sent up to you. Eat, rest and sleep or do whatever you want." Said Warren as he leads them into the elevator. "If you need me, I'll be at my penthouse at the top floor. Drop by and see me anytime you want. I don't mind. I'm sure Jubilee'd be glad to see you guys again."
"Is Jubilee your daughter?" asked Howie.
"Good lord, no!" Warren's eyes widened in horror at the thought, "She's one of my students. She begged me to take her to your show when she found out about Johnny's invitation."
"Student? Are you a teacher?" asked Brian curiously.
"A part-time, I should say. Because I have no family, I stay at a friend's place in Westchester, New York most of the time. It is actually a special school for gifted youngsters. I'm helping my friend out by teaching his students Business Management, Economics, and French." Warren explained as the door of the elevator opened and he stepped out. "It's a nice change to be honest, after all those traveling and board meetings."
They stopped at the first room.
"Here we're. The first five rooms here are yours. Here are the keys." Warren handed the keys to them. "If you need anything, my penthouse is a floor above. Drop me a visit if any of you feels like it. In the meantime, get some rest. Especially you, Nick. I promised Johnny I'll look after you, and I always keep my promise. Enjoy your stay here."
"Thanks, Warren." Said Kevin.
"Holy moley! Check out the rooms!" Nick eyes bulged at the sight of his room... well hall is a better term to describe it, or even better, an auditorium!
The room is wider than any suite he has ever stayed in his life! The sitting room alone is wide enough, with a wall-size TV complete with its own latest version of playstation and an assortment of video games and movies. A huge couch with two other arranged at the side, with a huge glass door leading to the balcony outside. A mini-bar that contains every drinks available, a small kitchenette, the ceiling and walls was decorated by various carvings of flowers and angels... going into the bedroom, a huge four-poster bed dominate the room, and a door leading to the bathroom reveals a shower stall... a Jacuzzi!!!! Just what he needs right now!!
Well, it was one of the things that Nick actually needs right now, but one look at the giant four poster bed caused him to dropped everything and jumped onto it. Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!! The softness of the bed!! It feels like he's floating in the air!! This is it! I've died after the show and have actually gone to heaven!!
"I'M AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD!!!!" Nick heard AJ's shrill voice pierced through the wall from next door and laughed softly. In the distance, he heard Brian's yell and Howie's shout. Too bad Brian and Kevin are leaving tomorrow. Nick knew for sure that he's NOT leaving this place for quite some time. His vacation starts now!!! And if Johnny has problems with it, he will kick his ass to kingdom come, boss or no boss!!
"Why can't I go down there and visit them??" said Jubilee, putting her most stubborn face which Warren knew too well that she is determined to get what she wants at all cost.
"No! You are not to disturb them!" Warren said firmly, putting on his most stubborn face too. Two can play that game. "They need their rest. Now stop being a spoiled brat and go watch some TV!"
"Spoiled brat?? Hellooo? Who's the one with all the money to spend here?" Jubilee smirked, knowing that she is fighting a losing battle. Warren was well known amongst the team to be very stubborn when he wants to.
"I am!" Warren grinned. "But at the moment, you're behaving worst than I was when I was a kid! Oh come now! Stop pouting! It doesn't look good on you. Isn't it enough that you saw them during the concert and then backstage after that?"
Jubilee looked at him dreamily.
"Mmmmm... yeah. Wasn't AJ's ass cute? So tight, so round that you just want to squeeze them..."
"Jubilee!!" Warren stared at her, shocked. "You're too young to have that kind of thoughts!"
Jubilee snickered.
"I'm 18! I'm allowed to have that kind of thoughts." She laughed as she ran across the sitting room.
"Behave yourself, young lady! Or I'll ask Logan to drop by and have a chat with you."
"That grumbling old coot? It'll take a month to get him out of the bed and another month to make his way here." Jubilee laughed.
"Not unless I ask Kurt to teleport him here." Said Warren and smiled as Jubilee stopped laughing abruptly. "I thought that'd shut you up. Now turn the TV on. I heard they're viewing There's Something About Mary tonight. I've always wanted to watch that show."
"Watched it last time. It was okay." Said Jubilee as she pressed the remote control and watched as Warren switched off his image inducers.
The air around him seems to ripple for a brief second before his skin turns blue and his wings appeared behind him, fluttering briefly against the cold air of the air-conditioner. Warren has always been gifted with pure beauty but it is a wonder why he keeps on having to go through one messed up relationship after another. Jubilee has always suspected that his beauty is part of his mutation, just like his wings, giving him an angelic look. His flowing blond hair and brow contrast sharply against his blue skin - his legacy from the brief moment of weakness he suffered when the Marauder destroyed his old wings, leading to the unfortunate dealings with Apocalypse. Jubilee understood why he made such deals. His wings meant everything to Warren. Without it, his life has no meaning. Empty. Jubilee thought that if she were in Warren's boots, she would have gone ahead and made such deals too. Any chance that would lead to the restoration of those wings would be enough for her to sign any deals, whether it'll lead to a darker path or not, it doesn't matter.
"Don't you hate it having to hide under that illusion all the time?" asked Jubilee.
Eyes filled with weariness, Warren threw the image inducers onto the table beside him and sank down onto the couch.
"I despise it. More than you know." Warren sighed as he flicked through the channel. "But the world out there has already made up its mind about us mutants, Jube. Maybe it's different to you. But there are more than one of those business partners I work with who are mutant-haters. One sniff of rumors that I am a mutant and everyone working for the Worthington Industries will pay the price. Everything my father has worked for and achieved will be in jeopardy if that happens."
"One day, Xavier's dream will come true." Said Jubilee. "I've always dream of using my power in public, without having a mob chasing me for a change."
"It'll come true, Jube. As long as we hold on to that dream and fight those who'd shatter it, it will come true... one day." Warren replied before finally arriving to the channel showing the movie he seeks. "Hey here it is! Damn! Its half way already."
Hours later, Warren switched off the TV and sighed. The movie was okay though not as he expected. He couldn't understand why Bobby and Hank love it so much.
Looking at the clock, it is 2 a.m. And he still doesn't feel tired. He looked up when Jubilee came in from the kitchen, bringing with her a cup of coffee.
"You're not tired, Jube?" he asked.
"Nope!" The girl answered cheerfully. "I slept all day before the concert remember?"
Warren grunted. Yup. He remembered alright. Maybe that's why she was bursting with energy during the concert.
"So what are you gonna do for the rest of the night?"
"TV!" Jubilee grinned. "Hey! You have any porno channel?"
"No!" Came the immediate answer. "I mean, yes! But not for you. I've locked it out. So there!"
"Aww..."
"Geez. Your hormones must be all over the place tonight." Said Warren.
"I'm 18! Of course it's all over the place. I bet you had sex all the time when you're my age."
Warren grinned.
"I had sex all the time since before your age."
"See? So much for Mr. Righteousness!"
"Blame my irresistible looks!" Warren grin never diminished as he flipped his hair back vainly and gave his wings another flutters. "I can't help it if women lined up to have sex with me."
"Some people have everything. Its just not fair!" Jubilee grumbled sourly. Warren laughed at that.
"C'mon, cheer up!" said Warren. "Tell you what, tomorrow we'll go to the mall and you can have everything you want. Deal?"
Jubilee eyes lightened up at that.
"Are you serious?"
"Scouts honor!"
"WOOO-HOOO!!!" Jubilee whooped and began to dance around, and soon enough, Warren could sense a headache coming. He has to get out before he ended up like Nick.
"You better go to bed, Jube." He said as he walked towards the glass door leading to the balcony.
"Hey where are you going?"
"Flying. I need some fresh air. If anyone other than the team call, tell them I'm asleep and wished not to be disturbed."
"Huh! What do you take me for? Your maid?"
"Damn! That was supposed to be a surprise. Oh well..." Warren winked at her and smiled as she stuck out her tongue.
It is not a cold night and at the same time it is not too hot either. The city below seems asleep, yet, here and there, vehicles pulls out and people walked here and there, some strolling and some hurrying. Occasionally, the sounds of siren pierce the darkness.
The sky seems clear too, with the stars twinkling in the distance, small and mysterious. The moon is out, parting the darkness with it silvery white light. Warren stood at the edge of the balcony, peering dreamily into the distance, enjoying the silence and peace. Then, leaning across the railing, he let himself fall, eyes closed. The air rushed up and he took a deep breath as he gently spread his wings wide, quietly enjoying the sweet caress of the wind as it flows beneath it. Then, with one flap of the great wings, then twice, and then he is truly flying, gaining altitude, his wings stroking powerfully once or twice as he rises and soon, he was soaring in the air, free and content. The sky is his tonight, and the feeling of freedom is beyond any description.
Nick stood wide-eyed from his own balcony, mouth half-opened as he watched the winged figure flew off into the night from the balcony above his, not knowing what to do or even how to react. That winged figure... Did he just saw an angel? No... no... it couldn't be! His eyes must have played tricks on him! The balcony above... the balcony above...
But... But Warren's penthouse is located on the floor above! So if the winged figure came from the balcony above...
Surely... surely that winged figure couldn't be Warren! Warren has no wings! Yet... that figure did have blond hair. The silvery light from the moon clearly reflected enough light for him to notice that. And the figure's built seems similar...
"I... I must be getting crazy! Delusional! That's it! That headache! Maybe I fell when I lost consciousness and hit my head onto something! My head must have been messed up bad! Yeah, that's it! I'm becoming delusional!" Nick muttered under his breath as he stumbled back into his room and back into bed. "I'm gonna see Warren tomorrow and ask him to arrange an appointment for me to see a doctor."
Soon, sleep descended upon him, and he loses himself into the endless void. In moments, he is dreaming of an angel, flying smoothly through the air, carrying him in his arm into the night...
