Author's Note: Once again I'd like to thank you for the feedback. It's been intense. A lot of questions. I'll just answer one of them right here. No, Kevin is NOT dying. If I were to explain the situation, it would ruin the entire story. So all I'm going to say is, He's NOT dying. Now before people start throwing things at me, here's chapter 3....
Disclaimer: The following story in no way implies that I truely know the sexual orientation of either of the REAL Backstreet Boys. I don't know them personally, nor do I know anything concrete about them. This story is STIRCTLY fictional.
Dying Eyes Chapter 3
I eventually came out of my daze and rang the doorbell. Jamie answered the door.
"David?!" he shouted grabbing me in a hug.
"Whoa Jamie! I need to breathe!" I chuckled.
"Sorry couz. What the hell are you doing here?!" he said while dragging me into the house.
"I'm here on business. The company sent me up here to take care of some things at head office in this part of the world." I said.
"Cool! How long you staying?" he asked.
"At LEAST till April." I chuckled.
"Wow!!!! We've got lot's of time to do shit! Come on in!!" he pointed me in the direction of the living room, "Want something to drink?"
"Sure. Sprite please. Where's Kevin?" I asked nonchalantly.
"He's out at the studio preparing for the new album. He should be home soon though." he said handing me a sprite.
"How's he been?" I asked genuinely concerned.
"I don't know couz. He's shut me out completely. We still talk, but not like we used to. He looks like he's lost half the time." Jamie said shaking his head.
"Well I have an idea...." I said.
Jamie and I discussed my idea and I headed out before Kevin got home.
I spent a few hours just looking around the city before returning home. I went over to my desk and pulled out my paper work. I had to brief myself on what to expect when I went in to work tomorrow. This was going to be rough. I was going to be taking over completely here. I had to make sure the whole company didn't fall apart due to the jackass who left them stranded. I powered up my laptop and began to download a few things from back home that I would need for tomorrow. I spent a good couple of hours at my desk before I realised what time it was.
"Shit! It's 7!" I raced upstairs and hopped into the shower. I washed myself quickly and got dressed and headed out to the car. I took off and headed towards a restaurant. One Jamie had suggested to me earlier today. When I walked in, I was greeted by a man in a tuxedo.
"Can I help you sir?" he asked smiling.
"Yes you can." I said smiling back, "Reservations for Lindsey."
"Ah yes. Right this way sir." he motioned for me to follow him. I followed him to the far side of the restaurant in up a small flight of stairs. When we reached the top, I looked over and I could see the entire restaurant down below. It was sort of like a balcony. There were more tables up here. It was gorgeous. I seated myself and he asked if I wanted anything to drink.
"A bottle of Ice Wine please." I stated. I looked at my watch. 7:55. 5 more minutes.
The waiter disappeared and then returned with a bottle of Ice Wine a few moments later. He asked to pour it and I said no. I looked at my watch again. 8:00. I looked down towards the door and there he was. Right on time. Another waiter brought him up the stairs. He looked around for a moment curiously. I stood up. Our eyes met.
"David?" he asked as his eyes widened.
"Kevin!" I said walking towards him.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" he practically yelled forgetting where he was then blushing when he clicked in.
"I'm here on business. Gonna be here till at least April." I said smiling and extending my hand.
We shook hands and I pulled his chair out. "Have a seat." I chuckled.
I poured us some Ice Wine.
"So how have you been Kevin?" I asked looking him in the eyes. They still said the same words as they did the day I met him. I just couldn't figure out what those words were.
"I've been ok." he half smiled.
"Kevin....don't lie." I took a sip of my wine.
He blushed.
"I don't know anymore David." he said taking a sip as well.
"Well I'm here to talk. That's why I brought you out tonight. I guess hoping you'll take advantage of what I said back in London." I looked at him wondering if he remembered.
He did. "I think that would be nice David. Thanks." he smiled.
We both ordered and as we waited for our food, we got to know each other a bit better. Backgrounds and stuff. Families, accomplishments and what not.
"So." I started, "What's bugging you?"
"Just lonely. That's all." he said looking down.
"It's ok Kevin. We're all get lonely sometimes. Even if we really aren't." I said lifting his chin to face me.
"I guess you're right." he said as he stared in to my eyes searching for the truth. All I could see where those words in his eyes.
We decided to spend the rest of the night talking about more positive things. He told me about Backstreet Boys. His childhood. And I told him about mine. Over all we had a great night. But now it was time to end.
I pulled up to Kevin's house and turned off the car. We sat in silence for a moment. I turned to him and our eye's locked.
I noticed a tear fall down his face. I grabbed him into a deep hug. As I held him he trembled. I could feel his tears dripping on my shoulder. I leaned back, put my hand on his chin and looked him in the eyes....and kissed him softly on the lips. He looked at me with shock.
"Wh..what was that for?" he asked looking deeply in to my eyes searching for the answer.
"Just because I think you're a nice guy Kevin." I smiled.
"Thank you David." he smiled back.
"I should get going. I have to work tomorrow." I said not really wanting to leave.
"Thank you so much for this evening David. I had a great time." he said smiling and giving me a hug.
"You're welcome. I had a great time myself. You're great company Mr. Kevin Scott Richardson." I said winking, "Can I call you tomorrow?"
His eyes lit up and he smiled, "I'd like that."
We said goodnight and he went inside. I smiled to myself and drove off.
As I pulled into the driveway I noticed Jennifer was peeking out her window. As I parked, she came outside.
"And just where have you been mister?" she giggles while shaking a finger.
"Was on a date." I winked.
"Ooooooo!" she got all excited.
"Wanna come in for a coffee Jennifer?" I asked. She nodded and locked her door then followed me inside.
Jennifer and I drank coffee and chatted for a good hour before I went to bed.
Dying Eyes Chapter 4
The next morning in the office
"In closing.....I'm in charge now. Things are going to change here. I'm not saying it's going to be easy. But if we stick together, I'm sure we can get this company back on track. You all have your new projects, and duties. Let's get to them people." I collected my papers closed my laptop and walked out of the conference room with Jennifer at my side.
"Well done sir." she said winking.
I told her it was ok if she called me sir at work.
"Thanks Jennifer. You think I won them over?" I asked nervously.
"I think so." she smiled.
"Hold all my calls please Jennifer." I said as I entered my office, "I'm going to busy for a little while."
I closed the door and sat at my desk. I intended on doing actual work, but my mind wandered. To last night. I can't believe I kissed Kevin. That's so out of character for me. It felt nice. That's all I knew. I decided to call him.
"Hello?" Jamie answered.
"Hey Jamie." I said.
"Heya couz!" he shouted, "What are you up to?"
"Work." I laughed, "Is Kevin in?"
"Awww...you don't want to talk to your fav cousin?" he faked a hurt tone.
"Well I WAS gonna ask Kevin if he wanted to catch a movie tonight, and I WAS going to extend the invitation to you, but since you're so jealous..." I laughed.
"How rude!" he burst out laughing, "Kev's out with the guys. He told me to give you his cell # if you called. You 2 are getting a tad cozy huh?" I could sense his smirk.
"Hey now! Just gimme the # and stop trying to play Entertainment Tonight." I retorted.
"Oh boo. You're no fun. Anyway, his # is <phone #>" he said.
"Thanks." I said, "I'll talk to you later."
We hung up. I immediately dialed Kevin's cell #.
"Hello?" a voice I hadn't heard before asked.
"Hi. Kevin?" I asked hesitently.
"Nope. This is Brian. Who's this?" he asked.
"This is David." I answered.
"Hold on a sec please." he said. I heard some muffled voices.
"Hello?" I heard Kevin's familiar voice.
"Hi! Sorry. Didn't mean to interrupt." I said apologetically.
"You didn't interrupt David." he said chuckling, "What's up?"
"Nothing much. Just calling you like I said I would." I giggled.
"I'm glad you called. Listen, I'm just finishing up here, and then I'm heading out. Do you want to grab a bite to eat?" he asked.
"Sure." I said, "I was thinking maybe you Jamie and I could catch a movie later too."
"That sounds really good. Maybe the guys will want to come too. Is that alright?" he asked.
"Of course. Where do you want to meet to eat?" I said
"Meet me at Jamie's in a half hour. We'll go from there." he said.
"Ok then. Talk to you later Kevin." I smiled.
"Later Davey." he said. That caught me completely off gaurd. After I hung up I just sat there smiling to myself. That was cute.
To be continued....
***************************************************************************** Hey guys. I know this one's short. It's a tad rushed. I'm looking for a new job at the moment, so I can quit the hell hole I'm at now. So PLEASE be patient with me. I PROMISE to keep at this. I just won't be able to get chapters out every couple of days as I had hoped. But I promise it won't be like a chapter a month or anything. Thanks for all the feedback!!!
