Chapter 3
It was Friday that day...and hadn't Josh said something about getting together on Friday. I thought maybe like I forgot he might've forgotten too. I went to my room and lied down. The day had been the most awesome and most surreal day of my life. I was afraid to even close my eyes and wake up to find out that it was a dream but I was tired I had to take a nap. I quickly drifted of to sleep. I woke up to the ringing of my phone I looked over at my watch; it was 7:00 pm. I lazily got off and picked up the phone half-hearted.
"Hello! Joey here!" "Hey Joe! Its Josh" "Oh hi...about our umm 'date' tonight..." "You're not planning on canceling, are you?" "Me? No...I thought you were...so it's a date then? "Definitely! I'll pick you up at 8...I mean if it's ok with you? So can I?" "Sure...so what did you had in mind? I mean your plans?" "Do we need those? Let's just be spontaneous...we'll decide when we have to." "Umm yeah, sure, I guess. So see you at 8..." "Alright...see you then. Bye babe!"
I put the phone down and then went to lie down on the bed again. I had almost drifted off again when it actually came to my mind. Did he just call me "babe"? Oh my god! I was so excited I didn't know what to do next. I quickly searched through my wardrobe to find something good to wear for the 'date'. I couldn't decide till I saw the same jacket that I was wearing on the night when Josh first saw me. I quickly picked out the same clothes and waited for the clock to strike 8.
I guess in all my excitement I had forgotten to tell my parents about my...appointment. If I told them it was a date, I think I'd confuse them even more. But I had to tell someone I just couldn't control my excitement anymore and within moments I was knocking on my sister's door. She opened the door with a sarcastic look on her face.
"What is it now Joey? Let me guess...you need help with Algebra again?" "Not quite! I have a date." "So? Why are you...what? You got a date? Who is it...Bryan?" "Bryan? What're you thinking? Bryan's straight, remember? Besides...he's not exactly my type." "So who is it then?" "Do you remember a 'Josh' perhaps?" "Oh yeah, I met him some days...No! That hottie is gay? And YOU are dating HIM? No way!" "Better believe it lil sis. He's gonna pick me up at 8" "Wow, can I come? Hmm...probably not huh?" "Not in a million years...plus you don't see me jumping in on your dates." "Alright, alright! Good luck brother. Hey, what're you doing here? Go on; get ready. Its already 7:40, you don't wanna be late do you?"
She was right I didn't want to be late. I decided to take a quick shower before I got ready so I got in the shower. After the shower I got ready and went downstairs to wait for Josh. I decided to go and tell Mom that I'll be going out. So I went into the kitchen and told her that I'd be going out with some friends. I had just finished talking to her when the doorbell rang so I hurried back. I was late...Susan was already at the door talking to Josh.
He quickly looked up at me and smiled when I came in. He said his goodbyes to Susan and I followed him as he went out. I could feel Susan burn up when he held my hand. His bike was standing there and before he got on he searched his pockets for something and then reached into his back pocket and pulled out a rose. I think he blushed, wasn't I supposed to? And before I could thank him he leaned over and kissed my cheek, ok, now I blushed. We got on the bike and rode away.
"So decided where we're going?" "Umm how about a picnic?" "A what? It's 8 pm...are you ok?" "It'll be fun...there's this really good place right out of town...and it's got a great view..." "Of what?" "The city."
He stopped on the way at his apartment and picked up a bag. I guessed he had already planned everything. It wasn't long before we were out of town. We got off and he led me through some very thick bushes and trees. For a second there I thought he was some kind of a serial killer and wanted to kill me in that secluded place. Soon we were out of the woods and out in the open.
I realized we were on some kind of cliff. I looked down, he was right that place had a great view. The city was twinkling with lights below and we where we stood there was just the moonlight. I can't describe how beautiful everything felt. I turned around and found that while I was enjoying the view Josh had got everything ready. Everything looked elegant yet casual. There was coke, burgers and believe it or not he brought candles.
"Candles?" "Don't you think it gives the mood a little something extra?" "Trust me? It doesn't need anything extra." "Anything for you...my puppy loving, wet and miserable little sweetie." "Ok, I don't know what you meant to do, but that sounded really, really weird." "Sorry, bad try to be funny. So will you join me?"
We ate, drank and talked and talked and talked. Except for that first joke everything he said was really good. From what he said I formed a total biography on him (which I'm sure you're dying to know) He was born and brought up by his parents till he reached his teens. He was an excellent student and an all round great kid. Unfortunately at the age of 16 his parents passed away in a car crash, leaving him with his only next of kin...his uncle.
His uncle was a 38-year-old neighborhood good-guy type of person, whose wife had just died and lived with his kid. He took care of Josh for the rest of his teen life. After he reached 18 he became a model and did many ads. Earned a lot and moved on to the next thing, his career as a professional writer. Didn't work...writing wasn't his thing. So he was back at modeling for underwear ads, again and moved to my town for a change of life, who knew he'd change mine too.
"So tell me about yourself." "You've been stalking me you should know. My life wasn't as complicated as yours." "What about...your love life?" "As dead as it ever was. Anyone who wants to be with me for the rest of his life has to be crazy." "Well, it's confirmed then, I'm crazy."
That was all it took. He pulled me to him and kissed me. I don't know what the record is for the longest kiss, but it felt like we broke it. I looked at my watch and wished I hadn't. It was late and I had to go as much as I hated leaving. We both rode back and he dropped me off at my place. Before he left he grabbed me by the waist and pulled me into a kiss. He left and I turned around and saw...my Dad.
Hi again,
Sorry this chapter took this looooooong; but my mind was elsewhere. I'm in love...and it sucks. Anyway, hope you enjoyed this chapter and keep cuming back for more. I think I've found a pretty good name for the new character...thanks to one particular reader, sorry but don't want to give it away.
I'm really not getting as much replies for 'Enough' as I did for 'The Boy'...is it worse? If not, then please mail in and tell me what you think or else...;)
Well, enough rants for now...see you all in the next chapter.
