"Adaen?" Christina asked as they stood in the hallway of their dorm.
Adaen turned to her, "Christina? I knew you were coming here, but..."
"Yup, right down the hall." She said.
"So..."
_
"Yeah..."_
"Fun." Christina said.
"So, you going to that party?" Adaen asked.
"I am." Christina said, "We should go together...you know, friends in a new place."
"Friends?" Adaen smiled.
"Oh, umm, I..."
_
"Sounds cool." Adaen said, "Just stop by before you leave."_
"Awesome." Christina said, going back into her room.

"Well, at least put on your heavy coat!" Mom shouted down the hall and stopped when she got to my door, "Hey, what you doing?"
I looked up from my computer, "Hey." I said.
"You seem down." Mom said.
"I'm great. Just checking myspace." I said.
"Oh. Well, you haven't left the house since..."
"Just enjoying the private time." I said, "There wasn't a lot living with someone else."
Mom nodded, "Don't stay up here up too long. Maybe you and Hann..."
"I think Hannah has other things to do than to hang out with me." I said quickly.
"Well, your brother..."
"Is busy with the club." I said.
Mom opened her mouth.
"Don't you even say Davis." I said, "I made myself clear about not being with him."
"Well, just don't stay up here too long, sweetie." Mom smiled, leaving.
I nodded and went back to my computer.
-
"How can you be so calm?" Adaen asked.
_
Christina shook her head, as if she were trying to clear it, "I was drunk and..."_
"Chris, he...he raped you." Adaen said, concerned.
"It's my word against his and he's the star football player, and besides that, I don't know what really happened. I was drunk." Christina stammered.
"Chris, this isn't your fault." Adaen said, "I mean, you were drunk, but he took advantage of that!"
"Just drop it, Ade." Christina frowned, "I'm alright."
"You're not alright, he just raped you!" Adaen said loudly.
"Keep it down! If my roommates hear me, I'll be so embarrassed!" Christina said, looking around.
"Seriously, that's what you're scared of? What they think?"
"I thought you were going to be less judgmental!" Christina asked, standing, "Look, this is all going to be good. I was the school whore back home, why should it be different here?"
_
"Chris..."_
"Look, Adaen, promise me you won't tell anyone!" Christina said, "Promise!"
Adaen felt it was his duty to tell, but there was a nagging voice that echoed what Christina said...
"Fine." Adaen said, "Fine, but you've got to get tested and...we need a pregnancy test."
"I didn't ask for that." Christina said, "I made your life Hell in high school. Why are you helping me? Why are you being my friend?"
"I'm in short supply of friends, especially here and you need a friend." Adaen said, "We need each other."
"You really think I need you?" Christina asked.
"Yes." Adaen said without a doubt, "I do."

Davis and Ballard sat, watching each other. They were friends, rivals, and most interesting of all, good businessmen. Each had come to the table with certain information about the other that could alter the other's relationship with the one they loved. They had been friends since they were little and their friendship had weathered so much but there was still so much more life to live, how could they not bump heads every now and then.
"I know what you did, you bastard." Ballard smirked, "Sending Ryan to seduce me. Good show."
"You paid him to come between me and Adaen." Davis said, "That's pretty low."
"All's fair..." Ballard said.
"But you'd really do that to me? You know how bad I love him. I came out to the world...for him." Davis said.
Ballard sucked in air, "And that means you love him more?" he asked.
"That means you did an underhanded thing and I just undid it." Davis frowned, "He's not yours."
"True, but, my friend, he's not exactly yours either." Ballard chuckled, "This isn't personal, I just want what I want."
"So this is the line, huh?" Davis asked.
"Draw it. I love him and I'm going to do whatever I can to have him." Ballard said.
"He's not some possession, he's a person." Davis said, "He's...he's..."
"Don't you think I know that? He's the only person, besides you, that looks at me like a normal guy." Ballard said, "He treats me like no girl does."
"I get it." Davis said, "He's a good person."
"So, this is war, huh?" Ballard asked.
"And some seriously soap opera shit going on." Davis said.
-
"So, you came to yell at me?" I asked.
"You've been going to the doctor, behind my back!" Mom yelled, "What is it that's so important that you...do you have AIDS?"
"What?" I asked.
"Oh God, it's bad, isn't it?" Mom asked.
"Mom...I've been seeing a doctor but not for that." I said angrily.
"Then what is it?" Mom asked, "You can tell me."
"I've been going to doctors and psychiatrists for...treatment of Bi-Polar..."
"Bi...Polar..." Mom sat down, "Are you...okay?"
"From minute to minute, I have no idea." I said, "But I'm trying and I'm living and...I'm trying so hard."
"Why didn't you tell me? You don't have to go through this alone." Mom said, hugging me.
"You're going through your own stuff." I said, "Plus I prefer to suffer in silence."
"Is there anything I can do?" Mom asked.
"It's kind of just up to me." I said, "It's my problem."
Mom must have noticed my worried face because she pulled me close, "We're going to get through this, baby. It's going to be alright."
