Chapter 1: By Meteor's Splendor

"Boys, please get cleaned up and put on your best clothing. It's nearly time." Mrs. Gren, our "mother" told us. We lived in an orpahanage, we being the twenty young men ranged from sixteen to ninteen years of age. I was the youngest. And by far, the most shy one.

"Come on Zax, move on," nudged a boy behind me. Kristopher, of course, I should have guessed. He was like my older brother, the oldest in the group. He pretty much saved me from time to time whenever I was in trouble. We all washed our hands and helped each tidy up as best as we could. Everyone seemed to want to help me look my best though, for some odd reason, everyone had taken an odd liking to me. I wasn't complaining though. By the end of it, I looked far better than the others and when I timidly told the others this, they brushed it off by saying that I naturally looked drop-dead gorgeous. I quickly shut my mouth after that.

"Come along my dears. We don't want to be late. You all hear? I expect you to be on your best behavior? Oh my, look at Zax everyone. This is what I want all of you to look like. But there's no time for that, so let's move." I blushed a deep red as everyone let out a snigger; after all, it was because of them I looked like it though they said they just brought out my inner looks. Whatever that meant. We all started walking toward the town square where it was supposed to take place. Upon entrance, our eyes were greeted with a marvelous feat I still can't forget to this day. Flags in all colors adorned the streets and in the middle, a tower had been setup, completely decorated with lights of all colors and all. At the very top stood none other than the Secretary to the Royal Council.

"I believe that is the last of them. So let us begin. You have all been gathered here for entrance into training for the war. There are two categories, warriors and wizards. Each of these has two subsets, offensive and defensive, and in turn, those have more subsets and so on. Much more will be explained into the camps that you will be going to. My job is to decide under which foremost category you belong to, warrior or wizard. This will take a while as I must see each one of individually. Now, if all of you could make a circle, it would be beneficial."

Kristopher lined us all up in a circle and joined us with the other boys rummaging around, trying to figure out where to stand. Kristopher, being the wise man that he is, went and helped all the others. After finishing, he came back and stood next to me.

"You there, young man. What is your name?"

"Kristopher Attucks Bradford. You lord!"

"Very well Kristopher, come close to me." Kristopher immediately stole across the space until he was directly next to the Secretary and kneeled down to show his respect. "Come here and kneel down and prop your head up on this cushion. There we go, now relax and let your mind wander." Kristopher closed his eyes and the Secretary placed his hands on Kristopher's temples. Not a moment had passed before the Secretary let go with a jerk, immediately stood up and called forth his servant. "Arm him, and then fight him."

"As you wish my lord."

"But sir, I know not how to fight."

"You know more than you believe Kristopher. Just pick up the sword and let free your spirit. But control it so it doesn't do real harm to my servant. Servant, I know very well how well trained you are, but I want you to use every last trick you know and try and defeat this man with everything you have. Is that clear, both of you?"

'YES LORD!" both screamed.

"Begin." And begin they did, what a show. I never in my wildest dreams would have guessed Kristopher could move so gracefully or easily, and quite deadly with a sword. Swishes and swashes were exchanged as they sparred, neither gaining the upper hand until Kristopher was able to push the servant into a corner. "Stop. That is all. Kristopher, take this horse and immediately set out to the castle Mystiqui." Kristopher looked back at me with sad eyes and mouthed the words sorry and goodbye. "Wait, there is more. You wish to see what this boy is to become. Very well, come forward boy." I stood rooted to the spot, transfixed and unable to move. The others gave me a slight push and in I tumbled. I quickly made my way to the cushion and laid my head down on it, closed my mind, and begged that everything would be ok. Soon enough, I felt fingers on the tip of my head and on my temples. A sudden pain seared through my mind, as if someone was trying to read my mind. Instinctively I fought back and was back lashed with immense power.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" the Secretary and my screams filled the air as we both clasped our heads and through our noses, blood started dripping. I immediately was lashed from behind with a blade and stumbled to the ground, to where I was picked up and thrown into the air. At this moment, I started losing consciousness and can't remember much. But outside, the fight raged on. Something in me had stirred, something long asleep, had awoken. And this new thing didn't relent as it let loose painful throbs around me and my assailers too flew into the air and started choking from lack of oxygen.

"Get down, now," said a melodious, pleasant voice I had never heard. It was replaced with a twang and severe pain through my side, and then nothing. This time, everything turned black for me.

I woke up with a grunt and my eyes fluttered open and I stared into the most beautiful, puppy, deep-set turquoise eyes, that didn't seem to be able to make up their mind between green and blue.

"Well hello, I see you have finally awakened. I was getting worried I had put too much power into that arrow of mine," he smiled. Oh my, what a beautiful smile. I felt butterflies in my stomach. As he put his hand out for me to grab, the Secretary yelled to not touch me, that I was too dangerous. Pain seared through my eyes and heart as I pulled myself up, dusted myself off. As I started walking off, cages dropped from above and I was trapped.

"Secretary, what the Hell is this? What is the fucking meaning of this? Free him immediately. That is a direct order," yelled an infuriated Prince.

"I'm so sorry my Prince; I cannot comply with your order. His mind is very unstable, the slightest thing and he could blow up right now."

"Please Secretary, he never meant anything. He never even knew he had powers. Please, set him free my lord," begged Kristopher.

"Kristopher, I thought I told you to leave!"

"Forgive me, but I cannot leave my friend and brother behind."

"Wait that gives me an idea." Using his hands, the Secretary lifted Kristopher into the air and started pressing on Kristopher's neck with invisible fingers."

"SECRETARY! Stop or I will be forced to attack."

"This is direct orders from my King, to annihilate any problems we have my Prince."

"Please, don't hurt him. I beg you, I'll do anything, just don't hurt him. Please," I started weeping, unable to see my brother being strangled.

"Do you agree to execution then for treason and trying to kill Royalty?"

"Yes, if it will save Kristopher."

"NO ZAX!" yelled a struggling Kristopher.

"Very well, he shall be spared. Try anything on me and I will -" The Secretary flew into the air and smashed into a rock, falling unconscious upon contact with the ground.

"Are you okay Kristopher?" asked a concerned Prince.

"Yes, thank you so much my Prince." Kristopher immediately ran up to the bars and tried to pull but to no avail.

"Here, step aside. I'll do it." The bars were no more and I was free again. The Prince flashed me a smile and I once more grew week in the knees. Kristopher caught me before I could fall and let out a small chuckle. I blushed a deep scarlet. At this, the Prince let out a deep, heavenly laugh. I turned my eyes to the ground. He approached me and lifted my chin up until I stared right back into his eyes.

"What's your name?"

"Zax my Prince."

"Age?"

"Sixteen, my Prince."

"With decent clothes and confidence, you could definitely pass for Royalty. And your blush is too cute. Who are your parents?"

"I do no know my Prince."

"Really, I'll see to it that you find out soon. Something must have gone very wrong for both you and the Secretary to be going ballistic like that. Lucky for you I was in the neighborhood, otherwise you might have killed each other. Something indeed is very different about you, I can feel it. But something good. Kristopher would u care to take the horse. As for Zax, he will ride with me. And the rest of you, we will send another letter for the next date, as the Secretary cannot carry on. Not a word about this to anyone. Clear?"

"YES MY PRINCE!"

"Then we're off." He took my hand gently, and led me down to a dragon that was lying down. "Don't worry, he wont bite," he whispered into my ear, making me slightly shudder with the closeness. He placed his hands on my waist and hoisted me up onto the neck of the dragon. Then, he pulled himself up and instead of taking the reigns; he placed the reigns in my hands and placed his hands over mine, whispering into my ear once more, and "let's see what you can do."

"Umm, I'm really not good at this. It would be a very unwise idea my Prince," I muttered out, still relishing in the closeness.

"Enough of this my Prince stuff. My name is Eterno, meaning Eternal in the old tongue. And of course, you can fly this. I'll help you." Eterno scooted closer to me and placed his hands around my waist before setting them on top of my hands. He directed my hand's movement and we took flight and started our journey towards the caste, Elmyru, the stronghold of Vixuis. Eterno rested his head on my shoulder and took his hands off mine and placed them on my waist. Every so slowly, he started massaging them. I let out a whimper. "I've never felt this way for anyone before, and I'm completely lost in it."

"My Prince, I mean Eterno, we shouldn't do this. You Royalty, I'm not."

"Screw Royalty."

"Sir, this is probably just some lust or something." At that, the Prince withdrew his hands and looked straight at the side of my face, as he was sitting behind me.

"You know, many people would die just to have sex with me, and here you are, saying you don't want it. I'm truly bedazzled."

"Yes, I'm sorry, it's just that -" An arrow shot towards us and hit the dragon straight in the neck, and the dragon disintegrated. Eterno clutched me and we remained afloat in the air as the ashes and ruminants of the dragon fell below us.

"I never thought I would see the day that I would catch the Prince preoccupied and not alert."

"Wyrn, what do you want?"

"Tisk tisk, temper temper baby, it was always your mistake," laughed the cruel, heartless voice of Wyrn.

"I don't have time for this right now."

"Oh, but I think I can make worth your time." At that exact moment, I felt a searing pain engulf my mind and body. I let out an ear-splitting scream that was sure to be heard by everyone in about a 50 mile radius.

"WYRN! What the HELL are you doing to him?"

"Just toying with him, relax." The pain intensified, and through the tears that rained down my cheeks, I saw more creatures coming up to see what was going on, all bearing the royal crest of Vixius. "Oh, reinforcements, of well. Tough luck." And the pain intensified even more. I could distinctly hear and feel Eterno trying to calm me down. When the pain reached started reaching unbearable points, something inside of me snapped. I looked up with cold fury and whispered one word, meteor.

"You fool! Did you just say meteor. No one can control the astrological forces but the chosen one. You imbecile." A loud noise silenced him as all eyes turned towards the sky, all but one pair, which were fixed on Wyrn, glowing with cold fury. And through the sky, shot a meteor towards Wyrn. Wyrn let out a small gasp before he tried to flee but was rooted to the spot by my stare. The meteor fell onto him, creating an explosion that completely destroyed him, but I managed to contain the explosion somehow and it did no damage to its surroundings. Somehow, for some reason, I had just summoned and controlled a meteor - a feat undoable by even the King of Vixius. All the power drained out of me after the smoke cleared and I sagged into Eterno's hands and feel unconscious once more.

Tristan: Hey guyz! How ya'll doing? This is my second story, the other one, Wykester University, is still in progress. This idea has just bugged me and I wanted feedback, so yeah, please tell me what you guys think. This is very different from the other story, as you will recognize quite quickly, though both are Sci-Fi. Descriptions will be given in due time, so just wait a little. A little more suspenseful right now, it will calm down afterwards and pick up once more, so there will be lulls here and there. Remember, email me. forgotten_secretz@yahoo.com
