Alliance Citadel, Earth X

Nexus Stargate Observation Center

"Major Waters, I think you need to take a look at this." the concerned look on the young officer's face signalled a problem.

"What seems to be the problem, Officer Stevens?" Major Waters asked showing no signs of alarm.

In his mind, Officer Stevens was probably worried for no reason. As the top official of Nexus Stargate Security, he had seen officers worry over the slightest energy flux that happened. Major Waters knew that if the Nexus displayed an energy flux over level 10 with level 20 being the most alarming, he would call in his star troopers, and begin a constant star patrol of the main stargate.

"Sir, the Nexus seems to be having energy fluxes that span from level two to level 8 without any lapses of time in between. As if there is negative activity occurring within the Nexus. I have been trying to get in contact with Stargate Towers of different sectors, but it seems that whatever is causing the energy fluxes is also preventing me from contacting the other sectors." Officer Stevens said looking worried.

"Keep trying to contact the other sectors. I haven't received any reports of negative activity from Alliance Headquarters. It may be some galactic showers happening, but to be on the safe side have all fighter pilots on standby for patrol of the Nexus. If the energy level reaches 10 or more dispatch fighter pilots and have seven patrol units sent into the Nexus to patrol our sector and the other 5 stargates. If there is anything happening I want reports on it immediately." Major Waters ordered as he exited the observation bridge. He knew that if anything was going on the appropriate official to contact would be Prime Xavier.

Early morning at Red Island...

I awoke from the most peaceful sleep in my life. I also woke to the shock of my life. I was laying on Torin's chest, and he was sound asleep. He looked so peaceful. His breathing was heavy, and he slept restfully. I was ready to get up when his hands moved across my back, and pulled me in closer to him. I laid my head back on his chest, and went back to sleep. I knew that I had to meet with Dr. Spalding, but today I needed to relax.

Alliance Star Point Tower, Earth X

Prime Xavier watches the telecom screen as the Major reports of the disturbing activities occurring in the Nexus zone. Prime Xavier hasn't been informed of any situations occuring in the other Allied Worlds, but he also knew that things never stayed the same. He understood that as the Prime for Earth X, he had to be very prudent in his decisions. Although this report didn't sound alarming... something deep in his own heart and soul felt uneasy. He decided that the Major's decision was wise, and he agreed that patrolling of the Nexus would be all that was needed at the time. As the Prime discontinued his call, he flipped on the Psi-net news, and the nightmare he had envisioned was coming true.

Red Island, Dr. Spalding's office

{'Good Morning, we are coming to you live from Downtown B-More City to report a disturbing situation. After a rowdy night ten people were found dead. Disturbingly no wounds were found on their bodies. From what has been reported the bodies seem to be in a form of shock and hemorraging from the eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. The area of the victims have been sectioned off and are being prepared for inspection. Still coroners haven't determined if this is an infectious disease or drug related. This could be a new epidemic on our hands some health officials have stated. Reports are still coming in, and we'll be keeping you posted. This is Kori Anderson for Psi-Net News.'}

Dr. Spalding looks at the monitor in disgust. He didn't understand the state of the world. Although ten people found dead downtown isn't unusual, it still disturbed him to hear that so many people died while he was asleep. He knew that the young mutants he trained would one day face a terrible foe, but in his mind he prayed they would never face a foe like The Breathtaker. The thought sent chills through his spine, and the dream he had didn't comfort him at all. Dr. Spalding remembered how The Breathtaker was slain, but an entity as dark as The Breathtaker has ways of living even when dead. This very thought scared him the most. If the threat of The Breathtaker was valid, Dr. Spalding would have to train his youth in defending the Allied Worlds. Even with the most advanced training, he wouldn't be able to protect his youth from the psionic juggernaut whose abilities spread fear across the galaxy. Almost ninety percent of his youth in combat training were psionic talents. This meant that the only unaffected mutants would be elemental mutants and psionic neutralizers. Both types of mutants were one and a million, and even still The Breathtaker was a threat. Elemental mutants could still be manipulated mentally, but their powers wouldn't be. While mutants possessing the ability to neutralize psionic energy wouldn't be affected by his mental abilities, they would be harmed by his other resources. Dr. Spalding had to construct a team comprised of mutants he felt capable of combating The Breathtaker.

"Circe...locate files of psionic neutralizers, and elemental mutants. Once located prepare a group of capable individuals that has the potential to handle a prime psionic entity." he spoke aloud as he exited his room to go to his debriefing room.

In his mind he had to prepare for the unknown. Although he couldn't quite put his fingers on why he felt the way he did, he knew that preparing now could determine the fate for many people.

As he walked down the hall towards his debriefing room, he couldn't help but notice the young mutants with potential. Dr. Spalding's dream was to help them deal with being different, and to use their talents to help rather then hurt people. He understood that not every mutant could be saved, but he had concluded if molded early at the right age most mutants could deal with the changing world around them. Then he couldn't help but think of Roxy. He would have to explain to Alliance officials what occurred. Even when he scanned young Kyle's mind, he didn't find anything. He knew where he could find the lady in Kyle's mind, but he didn't know why she killed Roxy. All he knew was that whatever was going on, there was something even bigger that was brewing.

As he entered the debriefing room, Circe materialized across the room from Dr. Spalding. Though she was a living mutant, she seemed emotionless. If there wasn't any logical reasoning, she didn't comprehend the situation. She had completed her task seconds after Dr. Spalding had given the command, but she knew that he was coming to the debriefing area. She decided to wait until he had reached his destination.

"Doctor, I have completed the task that you asked of me. There aren't any psionic neutralizers enrolled at Red Island. As far as elementals are concerned there are 147 elemental mutants that are enrolled at Red Island. Since you stated that the mutants had to be capable of combatting a prime psionic mutant, that eliminated 145 mutants. Although the mutants I selected are capable of manipulating the elements, there abilities are activated psionically. Doctor, you only have two mutants at Red Island that are natural elementals due to their alien dna. They are Fire and Ice. Both have been thoroughly trained in aggressive combat, and are excellent soldiers." she said looking at the Doctor as he stared out the window.

"That's it, hunh. Damn I don't think that will be enough to combat a prime psionic. Do I have any potential prime psionics that's developing as we speak." he said now feeling a little worried.

"Of course we do. Let me scan potential mutants with prime psionic potential. This should be interesting." she said. After thirty seconds of gazing as if out into space she returned showing a little astonishment which was unusual for Circe.

"Let me have the bad news, Circe. I am quite sure you are going to tell me that I don't have any potential prime psionics." he said assuming the worst.

"Actually Doctor, you assumption is incorrect. You have multiple psionics with prime psionics capabilities in certain areas. Please state specifically what type of candidate you want me to search for." she said smiling as she prepared for her next task.

"Circe, I think what I am looking for is one of my students that has the ability to tap into all psionic abilities without any repercussions. Basically a psionic with the capabilities combat an evil such as Darkoth the Breathtaker. I am not saying the students has to have abilities as Darkoth, but capable of withstanding an opponent of his caliber." he said now trying to devise an alternative way of dealing with potential threats such as Darkoth. Even though we have The Alliance and sector federations that can help thwart such threats, it's better to be safe then sorry." he said trying to make himself feel at ease, but he kept replaying the nightmare he had the previous night.

"I understand completely, and while you were talking. I've narrowed your search down to twenty students. I advanced my search three times, by age, by experience, and by ability. This narrowed my search down to one candidate...your favorite. It's Torin Waters. Torin displays prime psionic potential as well as he has combat experience, and he is of age to enter into combat as a soldier. As far as combating an entity as powerful as Darkoth. I have no history of Darkoth. I can not calculate this information until information has been provided. I have checked Alliance headquarters data base and all I receive is that he was the dark ruler of the planet Darkseid. That is all that I have on Darkoth. Please provide further information in the Alliance data base. Is there anything else that I can assist you with, Doctor?" Circe said examining Dr. Splading's face for any signs of thoughts.

"Circe, I think I know who may know more then I do about Darkoth. The woman I speak of used to be an ally of mine, but I am afraid we don't see eye to eye anymore." he said reminiscing about fighting alongside Gaia now known as the infamous leader Mother Mayhem. He can't imagine what changed her, but he knows that in order to prepare himself he would have to go back down memory lane. And she was a big part of his memory.

"If I may, why the need to know about someone or something that was killed years and years ago?" Circe asked concerned at the Doctor's confused appearance.

"I don't know...I had a dream. But I am afraid that something is pulling on my mind, and it's telling me that I didn't have a dream last night. I guess I am a little paranoid, but I guess it comes with the territory." he said smiling weakly at Circe.

"I guess it does come with the territory. Whatever it is Doctor, you will be able to handle it." she said before phasing from out of vision.

Dr. Spalding thought about paying Mother Mayhem a visit face to face. He knew that with her vast elemental and mystical abilities she would be able to help him, but the question was did she want to help him? As he sat and thought, he couldn't help but think about Circe's last comment. He smiled as he thought about his assisstant. Circe's mutant ability was to be exactly what she was...a living computer. Yet rarely did anyone associate Circe as living...with feelings and needs and desires. He wondered what really went on in the head of his young assistant. This intrigued him, but at the moment he had something more serious to worry about. If Darkoth was alive what was he planning to do, and when will he strike? Even more important, who would be strong enough to face him? The last question was the one that worried him the most, because the answer he came up with was...no one.

==============================================================

Late afternoon...Red Island

I was awakened suddenly when Torin jumped up as if from a nightmare.

"I'm sorry...I didn't know I fell asleep over here, or like this. I hope I didn't make you feel uncomfortable." he said looking so adorable. I wanted him to shut up, and lay back down but I settled for the apology.

"Don't worry about it. I wasn't uncomfortable at all. I slept peacefully...more peaceful than ever before." I said smiling at him as I stretched arching my back.

"Oh really...I wonder why is that?" he said smiling.

I couldn't help but blush a little. Although I knew that Torin was completely comfortable with my sexuality, I still didn't know whether or not he was gay. But I didn't feel comfortable outright asking him, so I decided to work with the present situation, and that was hunger. I offered him one of my robes, and he took a shower upstairs as I prepared him breakfast.

==============================================================

Meanwhile upstairs...

Torin undressed in the bedroom laying his clothes neatly across Kyle's bed. He notices the size of the California King size bed, and laughed at the thought 'size does matter.' Torin looked at the size of his sleeping member, and deeply hoped for the opportunity when he could make love and not worry about being judged. Deep inside he wanted to be with someone that had the innocence of Kyle...deep down he wanted someone with the mysterious nature of Kyle...deep down he wanted Kyle. That thought sent shivers down Torin's spine, and it awakened his dick which was now semi-hard, and aching to be released, but he ignored the need to release. He took his shower thinking about how Kyle smelled, and how Kyle felt in his arms. The steaming hot water hit his body with force, and he melted away inside of his fantasy. Whe he was finished, Kyle had laid some extra baggy sweat pants down on the bed for him, and a t-shirt that would be big on Kyle but fitted Torin like a body shirt. As he was about to go downstairs he noticed a heart shaped locket on the mirror. His curiosity pushed him to see the picture inside. Inside was a picture of Kyle smiling sweetly. Though Torin didn't make it a habit of taking things, he had to have this as memorabilia. He stuffed it in the sweatpants, and went dowstairs to a home-cooked meal.

==============================================================

Downstairs dining area...

"I almost thought you drowned...You look refreshed. The food is in the oven warming up. If you want to eat go right ahead, I am going to shower and change." I said hoping he'd wait for me before he at.

"I will wait for you...at least that's what you want me to do" he winked and smiled at me letting me know I had thought too loudly.

"You did it again...what if I was saying something personal" I said now realizing that he had the upper advantage in all conversations.

"It's a habit...I won't do that without letting you know. I promise." he said smiling at me.

I again was embarassed about the fact that I was parading around with nothing but a t-shirt on. I took a ten minute shower, and when I got downstairs he was seated patiently at the table waiting for me.

"Good boy...now that I have trained you to sit and wait...how about rolling over for me." I said sarcastically as I fixed him a nice plate of food.

"I would comply with that, but with the thought you had last night you might take advantage of me while I am lying down." he said responding to my sarcasm. Then I felt a pluck at my ear, but he was sitting across the room. I knew he was using his powers, so I let him have his moment.

"If you are going to pluck me try using your hands the next time" I said being flirtatious as usual.

"I will remember that." he said now letting the man come out of him.

Boy could he eat. I fixed pancakes, eggs, home fries, bacon, sliced some fruit, and served tall glasses of orange juice. He had three plates of food, and I only had one. I was amazed, but he explained that his abilities plus his daily regimen made him extremely hungry. He also explained that in order for him to manipulate his powers he had to have the proper amount of rest, a healthy diet, and physically in tip top shape. He said that even though he was strong with his abilities they could easily wear him down if he isn't in good condition. I listened and marveled at his abilities. In my mind, he was my superman. As we were again getting comfortable with one another, his Psi-band began to beep.

"It's Dr. Spalding...duty calls. I enjoyed this a whole lot. I would love to do it again sometime. You really are a cool person, and I like that." he said grabbing a bag with his things in it, and putting his coat on.

"We will definitely do this again. At least I hope so." I said as he ran out the front door. As he crossed the lawn running, I saw a blue aura surround him then he was gone. I stood at the door completely amazed.

==============================================================

Dr. Spalding's office

Torin instantly appears from the blue aura in Dr. Splading's office. Seated with him are Ice, Fire, and Circe. Although he knew he didn't do anything, he backtracked his memory to see if he forgot anything. He did have a relaxing night, and he might have forgotten about something that was important.

"Have a seat Torin... this is going to take a minute." he said nodding his head towards the seat sitting right next to Circe.

"I didn't do anything this time Dr. Spalding. I honestly didn't." Torin said looking around the room contemplating picking the minds of Ice and Fire even though he knew that Dr. Spalding would intervene.

"You are nervous for no reason. This is actually some good news. At least I think you have prepared a long time for this. I am ready to assign you to a team. I don't know for sure how many will be a part of this team, but I do know that for now Fire and Ice are going to be a part of this team. You will receive direct debriefings from myself or Circe, and I will send you on weekly special ops trainings until I feel that you have been trained to the extent of your abilities. I chose you three because of age and ability as well as maturity. At the moment, I have not selected a team captain but I assure you I will be watching for teamwork, conflict management, and leadership skills. Section Eleven located deep inside Red Island close to Lake Tanlawi is a huge cabin equipped with five bedrooms each containing two full size beds, five bathrooms, state of the art kitchen, living room, dining area, a library/study, a game room, and an Alliance computer system which allows you access to confidential information. I expect you to be ready by the end of this week to move into Section Eleven. Any questions?" Dr. Spalding stated looking at each face to gage responses.

Although Torin knew that Dr. Spalding wasn't being completely up front with them, he didn't want to push the envelope so he remained quiet. Reserved in his own thoughts. Torin always wanted the chance to become a part of a team, but he didn't think he would be assigned as a member of a team so soon. He didn't mind working with Ice and Fire. He remembered when they first became an item, and now years later he would be working side by side with them. They were the first openly gay couple he saw at the school. As a matter of fact they were the only openly gay couple at the school. Not to say that there weren't any other gay students at Red Island, but you would have to dig deep to find them. Many gay students remained in the closet trying to hide their sexuality as well as the fact that they were mutants. Ice and Fire were completely different although they were gay you would never tell unless they shared that information which they clearly had no problem doing. Ice was calm, laidback, reserved, and extremely intelligent. The nineteen year old mutant was as skilled in hand-to-hand combat as he was with his mutant abilities. His only weakness was his love for the spicy tempered latino Fire. Fire wasn't flamboyant or loud, but he was outspoken and quick to anger. His temper is what prevented him from excelling. Often during scheduled trainings Fire would get angry, and walk out. Only the soothing voice of Ice could calm him enough to even have a calm discussion. On the other hand, Fire could be as skilled as Ice when he really wanted to, but the fact was that he had to be in the mood to put forth that much effort. As Torin thought about his two new partners, he looked forward to having some good experiences as well as some troubles. Despite his thoughts, the whole grouping would be a much needed learning experience.

"Dr. Spalding, if everything is okay why the need to place us in a group, and how were we selected? Why us three, and is everything really okay? I mean, are we being prepared for something that's coming? Why are we being separated from the school? I know it may sound like I am discouraged, but it seems kind of strange that all of a sudden you want to group us. I also thought that Torin was being prepared for Viper? I just need a little more clarification, and I am also wondering do we have a decision here?" Ice stated his voice edged with concern.

For the first time, Fire detected distress in his lovers voice. This sound came only when he was concerned about one of Fire's tantrums, but this time Fire wondered what could cause his lover so much tension. Fire looked at Ice, and Ice glanced at Fire but directed his attention back to Dr. Spalding who had leaned back in his chair preparing to answer the young mutant.

"I wished that I could tell you that everything is okay, but I can't. All I can say is that I am thinking about the future. At the present, there is no danger at all. But that is what concerns me the most. As in past instances, I group mutants based on talent, skill, and maturity. Although I also take into consideration combat experience, clearly none of you have had a lot of combat experience. I selected in my mind the best mutants for this team. I also felt that seperating you from the mainstream would allow you to build a rapport with one another as well as stay focused on the objective. Which is to become a team that is unstoppable, and able to deal with any situation. I understand that this is new to you, but there is a reason for this decision, but it's not because of any danger. Not yet anyway. As for having a decision in this matter...no you don't have any choice." he said waiting for responses to his last statement.

Torin clearly knew that something was wrong. Rarely did Dr. Spalding mandate anything. This was definitely bad whatever it was, but Torin didn't want to dig deeper now. Ice obviously felt the same way because he didn't ask anything else, and Fire for some strange reason didn't seem worried at all.

"If there is no more questions from you...you are dismissed. Be ready to move by the end of this week. Good day to each of you." he said then he stood and walked down the hall with Circe beside him discussing other business.

B-More City: The Styx

Deep down in the darkest area of B-More City, the darkness comes to life. Moving slowly like fog covering a city. No one comes to the Styx...no one sane anyway. Those that come into The Styx rarely walk out, and those that walk out (which are very few) are never the same. The Styx's history was dark. Once the place of great blood shed, great pain, and great horror now remains a desolate place of broken buildings and trashed streets. Only sound made in The Styx is the occassional screech of metal signs moving in the wind. Even sunlight looks different in The Styx. What better place for Darkness to reside then in darkness? The darkness gathers to form into an army of ghostlike beings... extensions of a much greater evil. The Shadow Wraith have completed their tasks. These silent beings prey on the life essence of all beings, but can only be dispatched from the ShadowWeaver. The ShadowWeaver then transfers the life essence to Darkoth which strengthens him. Darkoth was weakened by the war to the point were he could no longer exist as a physical form. In his weakened state he was removed from Darkseid, and thought to be slain on the soils of Earth X. But his powers remained, though his body didn't. Somehow he managed to get the general of his dark army ShadowWeaver to locate a place for him to rest and wait patiently for an opportunity to strike again. Now with the help of ShadowWeaver, Darkoth has been replenished enough to assume form only for short periods of time. Yet he foresaw this time, and prepared himself for this moment. What he wanted now was the vessel in which he needed to occupy in order to live.

"Master, a gift from me." ShadowWeaver states as he offers the Orb of Life glowing the green essences of the victims claimed by the shadow wraith.

Darkoth extends his hands, and the orb lifts form the ShadowWeaver's hand and moves across the room to the hand of Darkoth. Once in his palms, Darkoth places both hands on the orb and absorbs the essence. Instantly he feels the warmth of life flow through him. He is alive once more, but he knows it is only temporarily. He must work fast, and the first task is to take out his biggest threat The Alliance. Then he must settle old scores, and reclaim what was his...the dark planet Darkseid. And finally begin his campaigne of terror once more with new fury, and even darker abilities.

"Have you located the child?" he speaks slowly...his words resonating off of the chamber walls.

"No Master, but I believe someone you know does?" ShadowWeaver states hoping that he doesn't feel Darkoth's wrath this day.

"I have no time for games, ShadowWeaver. I don't like games that much...you know that." he replies as he psionically lifts ShadowWeaver off of the ground, and begins the fatality from which he gets his name...The Breathtaker. Slowly, ShadowWeaver begins to gasp for air as Darkoth's powers begin to pull the very breath out of ShadowWeaver's mouth. Darkoth knows that he can pull the very life from ShadowWeaver and leave him hemorraging from every opening in his body. He can feel the first pulse of life in him as spurts of green life essence jump from ShadowWeaver's body. Darkoth is pleased momentarily, but he remembers that he isn't complete yet and he needs ShadowWeaver. Darkoth envisions torturing ShadowWeaver in the future, and instantly lets ShadowWeaver fall to the ground. Though his power grows strong, long as he must return to his astral form he will never regain his true strength.

"Tell me who knows the location of the child?" he asks walking over to the huge window on the side of throne.

"Yes Master, the one who knows the child is Gaia. You remember Gaia...she knows where the child is. I have asked the shadows to talk, and they have told me in the whispers of the wind. She knows, master. She knows, but your powers can't extend there. Shall I send shadow wraiths to draw her out of her confines?" ShadowWeaver whispers trying to regain his breath.

"My powers will extend to the ends of the galaxy. You, my little ShadowWeaver, underestimate me, but I will deal with that later. Believe me I will, but for now I want you to locate someone who hasn't seen me for a long time. His loyalty to me is priceless, and he has been waiting for me patiently. My powers are still growing so I can't specifically locate him, but I can feel that he is here on Earth X. Find him immediately" he ordered as he begins his assassination list.

Darkoth recalled the 5 Primes that stood so boldly against him. His galaxy was the six point of The Stargate with Eart X being the center. He recalls each prime individually: Prime Celeste of the planet Krystol located in the Omega 5 galaxy, Prime Rowanda of the planet Ricar located in the Plutonian galaxy, Prime Siglen of the planet Rizar located in the Centurion galaxy, Prime David of the planet Capella located in the Brahman galaxy, and Prime Xavier of the planet Earth X located in the Alpha galaxy. Each prime represented a world he needed to conquer. He would have succeeded had they not joined forces, and became the Alliance. Earth X lead the Alliance in an outright war on Darkoth, and his army from Darkseid. Though Darkoth's army was immense, they were no match for the will of Earth X and the Alliance. Through blood and toil they succeeded in defeating the army of warriors that ranged from shadow wraiths to his deadly shadow predators. Darkseid's technology was extremely advanced, but no one understood how a world lacking any true history could become so advanced so swiftly.

Downtown B-More City

Mother Mayhem sits alone deep in thought. She is preparing herself for the threat of Darkoth. Her powers were strong, but she knows that when she meets Darkoth again his powers will supercede hers. She had secrets that needed to be shared. She had missing pieces to other peoples lives, and she knew that before her final battle she would have to fill them pieces. In her mind the storm approaching was more deadly then the last, and everyone would be affected. Mother Mayhem was wise despite her actions and her demeanor, she had a reason. She looked down at her wrinkled skin, and thought about Medea. She still had to prep Medea for stepping into her shoes as leader of The Kahns. Although she converted them to lives of petty crimes, she really did care for the youth that made the roster of The Kahns. Yet this old threat was now more important to deal with, and she knew that every move she made counted for something.

==============================================================

Red Island

"Dr. Spalding are you sure you want to do this?" Circe asked as the doctor put on his coat, and prepared to make his pilgrimage to downtown to The Kahn's warehouse.

"Circe I must do this. You don't understand the threat that we are facing. There is an evil that this generation isn't prepared for. The Alliance has grown weak, and has become lazy. So I must prepare, and the only other person that understands this is Mother Mayhem." he explained as he activated his psi-band.

"I wish you luck, doctor. I hope you find the answers to the questions you have." Circe said as her mentor began his journey to the past.

==============================================================

Red Island, Kyle's Place

I just walked in from some training, and the telecom was ringing off the hook. I answered and it was Torin...looking good as usual.

"Hey Was sup Playa, how you doing? Was everything okay with Dr. Spalding?" I asked as I began to take off my jacket.

"Hey was sup Kyle, I am doing fine, and Dr. Spalding had some business he wanted to discuss with me...nothing serious though." he said smiling pleasantly.

"That's good news. I thought maybe you had missed a training or something. I know that I can be a bad influence, but I wasn't thinking of being such an influence on you soon." I said.

"Well, you aren't that influential so you can feel at ease with yourself, but I wanted to share my good news with you...over dinner. Say around eight tonight. I will come escort you." he said looking cute and innocent.

Damn, he was sexy. I would definitely mistaken him for a model in one of them magazines I saw in the library's archive section...GQ or Style. One of them.

"Okay...well, do I need to dress up or is this casual?" I said as I started to look into my closet for something to wear.

"No need to pull you hair out...this is casual. No need to be extravagant, Mr. Knight." he said shaking his head in amusement.

"Well then, Mr. Waters I will see you at 8 tonight." I said as I ended our telecom conversation.

I picked out something that was casual, but a little tempting. I was still in mourning over my friend, so I decided to wear black. I realized that I really didn't grieve her death, because I had been occupied with so much other stuff. I knew that eventually my emotions would bombard me, and I would eventually breakdown. Until that moment though, I continued as if nothing had occurred. Since I had enough time to get ready, I decided that a little nap would do me some good. I walked upstairs to my bedroom, set my alarm to 7 o' clock, kicked off me shoes, and stretched out across my bed. Minutes later I was sound asleep.

The Upper West Side of B-More City...

The Wooden Nickel Bar is as rowdy as usual. Aliens, mutants, humans, and borgs all filter to this place. Scarface, the owner and big time hustler, had established his own empire right out of this establishment. Only the most ruthless criminals would dare step foot in the door, and only the deadliest make it out alive. Known for it's universal liquors and gambling, The Wooden Nickel bar has faced much opposition from the Alliance. Due to friends inside the Alliance, the Wooden Nickel has been able to endure the tests of time. Yet even here the darkness has been felt. Patrons from all places have dwindled, and it seems that an even growing danger lurks around, and only one person understands.

He sits in the dark corner. His eyes taking in all that is around him. He is always present, but never there. He likes to remain an anonmity. Always in black. Always quiet. Always in the same corner...watching...waiting for the time to come when he will resurface. Describing him as deadly would be an under statement...then again describing him period is an understatement. He is undescribable, but his presence is unmistakable. Would he be described as a super mutant ? No. A powerful mutant? No. But genius. Yes. And even more descriptive...Deadly.

The door to the Wooden Nickel opens, and in walks a hooded figure with glowing blue eyes. He approaches the bar smoothely as if floating on air. He immediately locates Scarface, and moves slowly towards him. The figures presence emits in aura of disdain and fear among the other patrons who move out of ShadowWeaver's way trying to pay as little attention to him as possible. He looks directly into Scarface's eyes looking into the shadows of his soul. Looking at his darkest secrets, and his most horrible fears.

"I am looking for someone. I think you can help." ShadowWeaver speaks in almost an inaudible whisper. His gaze sharpen in Scarface's eyes, and without speaking he lifts his hand and points to the corner.

"His name is SEVEN" Scarface says as his breath suddenly becomes shallow.

"Thank you. Maybe we'll meet again" ShadowWeaver says as he moves in the direction of the silent predator.

Alliance Star Point Tower, Earth X

Prime Xavier prepares for bed. After receiving reports from the Nexus Stargate Observation Center (NSCO) all day long he was ready to lay down and melt away into his sheets. The alliance war veteran had seen too much in his lifetime, and had come to the point where fighting just didn't appeal to him anymore. Yet he had to stay in a position to be strong. He knew that without his fiery nature, and his gift to move people's minds and hearts the other Primes that sit on the Council would eventually dwindle away. He kept them motivated, but lately he felt drained. His long time affair with Prime Rowanda of the planet Ricar kept him in the Council. When he accepted the honor of being the Prime for Earth X, he knew that it would entail a lot of responsibility. Being the center world of the stargate meant he had to monitor traffic as well as keep the peace between the worlds and other planets. As he pulled his covers over his shoulder to sleep, he couldn't help but wonder what if things weren't so fortunate for the Alliance? What if the dark planet Darkseid harbored a new threat? Earth X had become the galactic police with technology from every world to make it a leading force against any foe, but he couldn't help but think of the 8 foot shadow predators or the shrouded shadow wraiths. As he drifted into a deep gaze, his mind took him to a place back in time... far back in time.

{"Xavier your mind is weak...let me rid you of your problems and end it all for you here."

No...I will not let you win.

"You will all pay for your stupidity...You will remember me. When I return you will see all five corners consumed by fire and smoke. Then we will meet again...for the last time. }

A tear falls from Prime Xavier eyes as he remembered the final words of Darkoth, and even now they still have as much power behind them as they did the day he spoke them.

Downtown B-More City: Kahn warehouse

Dr. Spalding walks up the street to the huge building surrounded by rowdy teens. Some know who he is ...others pay him no attention. Many of these teens he can sense have mutant powers of extreme capabilities, but none of their minds are strong enough to defeat him. As he enters the door, Medea cuts him off.

"I come in peace. I need to speak with Mayhem now. It's extremely important." he says as he notices five young teens starting to gather around him.

Medea looks directly at him, and smiles just before one of the teens react by sending a blade swiftly through the air. Dr. Spalding without moving his eyes from hers telekinetically halts the blade then sends it with extreme force back at the sender. Just before the blade impales the young boy, he stops it at the center of his forehead, and it it begins to turn swiftly until it drills into the boys head enough to make a trinklet of blood run down his forehead.

His voice speaks loudly in the boys head I don't think we've had the pleasure of meeting. I would advise you to keep your toys to your self.

Then he throws each guy psionically out if his way. Medea still smiles as she turns and leads Dr. Spalding down the hallway to speak with Mother Mayhem. Mother Mayhem is sitting with her back to the doctor. She has been expecting him, so it doesn't really take her by surprise that he is here. She just didn't know that he'd be coming this soon.

"This is a surprise...Dr. Spalding leaving the confines of Red Island. I would say things must be getting a little messy in your world" she says as she turns smiling at the doctor.

"I am glad to see you too. But I would like for us to be private. I don't think this will have anything to do with your body guard. We both know the history of one another, I am quite sure you haven't educated your young ones yet, but I will forgive such negligence. If you don't mind." he says looking Mother Mayhem directly in her eyes.

"I believe that can be arranged. Medea wait outside please. This will take a minute, but I would like you to be close by. I have some things I may need to tell you." she says as she moves forward slowly.

Medea looks but doesn't say anything. She walks through the doors swiftly, and shuts the two heavy doors behind her.

"Now what can I do for you, Dr. Spalding? I hope this isn't an interrogation from you. I was hoping we could put our differences behind us, Doc." she smiles and winks as Dr. Spalding relaxes into a chair set across from her.

"Gaia what's with the disguise. I know that you are as infinite as Earth X itself...I hope you didn't think some skin and a little limp would make me see you as anything but what you are. Please explain the front?" he says smiling at his old friend.

Mother Mayhem smiles back, and she begins to glow as if full of light. Then when the light fades she is young and beautiful. The room once dark with pain now seems to bring life, and the colors of the walls seem to awaken to greet the ancient mutant Olympian.

"I was hoping I'd get to see the real you. It's good to see you again Gaia." he says as years of trying to combat one another begins to fade.

"David you are looking well. Just as good as you did when we were working together. In time we make mistakes and bad judgements, and good friends become arch-rivals. Hopefully this meeting means to put an end to our long battle, because there is a greater threat to life on Earth X. I already know why you are here, so let's begin by burying the hatchet." she says pleasantly to Dr. Spalding.

"I agree Gaia, but I will let you attend to your young ones as you have been. I see no point in converting the masses. What I am here for is of great importance to you and I. It has something to do with Darkoth. I had a dream the other day, and although I am not a dream interpreter this dream reached out to me in the most mysterious way. I believe that Darkoth has resurfaced...here on Earth X. If I am correct in my assumption. The Alliance as well as every planet in the galaxy is in grave danger. As you recall we barely beat him the last time, and I am afraid that if he can extend to even our dreams there is no telling what abilities he has grown to learn. What I need from you is basically his history. I know that you are probably the oldest mutant alive now. You are the last of the Olympian race of mutants, so I am quite sure you would know about Darkoth, because I believe he is of the Olympian race also." Dr. Spalding explains as Mother Mayhem sits back, and begins to recall the dark lord Darkoth.

Mother Mayhem knows the story of Darkoth, but it's long and painful for her to discuss so freely. She realized how much of a role she played in his existence. She knew of what they shared together, and that knowledge alone killed her slowly. It was cancerous...eatting away at her heart and mind slowly because she couldn't bring herself to the truth, and the truth was bitter. She sits and thinks deeply in silence. Her thoughts darken her countenance and for the first time in years the beauty of her elemental and mystical abilities display themselves in her pain. She is like the goddess Demeter after losing her child Persephone. The summer in her life has just turned to fall, and as she thinks deeply it soon becomes winter. The cold that is felt in this room could immobilize an elephant. Mother Mayhem digs deep within herself, and Dr. Spalding knows that she is in combat within her heart and mind. He know that an elemental of her staure can wait an eternity to speak, but he has a feeling she will be kind in his request, and truth will rush from her lips as it did before she became angry. So he waits until she is ready to speak, and the evening gets later as they wait in silence.

Meanwhile at Red Island

I had just finished preparing myself when the my signal alerted me that someone was at my front door. I was dressed casually in a nice black sweater, and some form fitting black jeans. I noticed that my body was becoming sleek and elegant. I walked more gracefully, and I wasn't as heavy when I walked. I also noticed that my sense of smell, taste, hearing, seeing, and touch were sharper. Even though the computer alerted me that someone was at my door. I could smell Torin's cologne, and I could hear his footstep as well. I calmed myself down just before I got to the door, and composed myself before I opened the door.

"Hey Was Sup Torin, come on in." I said as I stepped aside inviting the handsome young man into my humble abode.

"Hey Was Sup Kyle. I hope you enjoy what I planned for tonight. I would have invited everyone else but I figured you was good enough. Plus I didn't have enough food for all them people." he said looking me up and down as he spoke.

"Well, it's not like we are on a date...or are we?" I said winking at him which made him blush.

"Naw, I wouldn't call this a date. Just a relaxing dinner between two friends." he said smiling at me.

"Well let's get this party on the road shall we." I said deliberately turning to show off my ass in the form fitting jeans I was wearing. I put on my jacket, and was ready for the night.

We took a long walk through the woods located in the rear of Red Island. As we walked we talked about his placement with his new team members. We arrived at a huge cabin located deep in the woods. The place was very secluded and quiet. He placed his palm on a panel on the left side of the door, and the door immediately opened. The lights came on immediately, and it seemed that wherever he walked the cabin was programed to react. I was impressed thoroughly. I could smell something good in the dining area, but I didn't rush anything. I alllowed him to do everything the way he planned. Torin removed my jacket, and he escorted me to the living room. I sat down on the sofa, and he excused himself to go to the kitchen. Minutes later he returned.

"The food will be ready to serve in a few more minutes. I have it on a timer. Would you like something to drink...non-alcoholic?" he asked gentlemanly.

"Well, what if I did want something like champagne? Would you have any available?" I questioned with a mischief look on my face.

"I would for someone that was legal. Are you trying to get me to get you an alcoholic beverage?" he said trying to sound like Dr. Spalding.

I smiled and shook my head no, but my eyes said yes. He tilted his head to the side and walked back into the kitchen. When he returned he had two champagne flutes filled. When I sipped it ...it was grape cider. I laughed at the gesture.

"Well, this will do. I thought this was a casual dinner. It feels like I am on a date." I said setting my drink on the table.

"I know...but that's just the way I am. I tend to go over board." he said sitting in the love seat across from me.

"I will make a note of that when I ask you for my birthday present." I said sipping the grape juice.

"Oh, dinner is complete. I made a nice pot roast in gravey, some mashed potatoes, corn, and some buttered rolls. I hope you have an appetite, because I made a lot." he said standing, and holding his arms towards the dining room mocking a butler.

I walk to the dining room, and I lost my breath. The table was set up for two. It was really nice. The lights were almost off. He had two candles sitting in the center of the table. There was some soft jazz music playing in the background, and our food was waiting. I was impressed. He really was the last romantic. I wasn't used to this type of treatment, and it made me feel unusual. I knew that this was not a romantc dinner. This was just a celebration, but it felt like more. We sat and ate and held a casual conversation about nothing too important. Afterwards, he cleared our plates, and we went back into the living room to relax by the fire place. I had finally persuaded him into getting some champagne. We both sat by the fireplace and drank champagne and talked as if we knew each other since birth. As the nigt progressed, and the champagne buzzed through our systems we became a little more comfortable with opening up about ourselves. Part of me wanted to be bad, but the part of me that is good wouldn't allow me so after the polite conversation ended we sat in complete silence. Our silence lasted long enough for us to notice that we had completely stopped talking. Then after about ten minutes of not talking we looked at each other and smiled.

"I think the champagne has gotten to us." Torin said stretching across the floor on his side.

"If you say so" I said smiling softly.

"I don't mean to intrude, but how does it feel when you are with another guy?" Torin asked kind of nervously.

"When I am with someone that I am attracted to. I get a warmth throughout my body. I get nervous, and I sometimes ramble on. It feels like the world doesn't exist, and only dreams could ever happen between me and that person. You know what...to be honest...it...feels like now." I said it but I couldn't believe it came out. I was in shock, because it flowed so naturally. And the reaction on his face was priceless. It was like he had seen a ghost, but his face seemed to glow. I didn't know what to say or what to do. I was afraid that I did the wrong thing. He looked startled, but then his disposition seemed to soften.

"Thank you for the compliment. I don't know what to say. I think this champagne has gotten to both of us." he said taking another sip of his champagne.

"Well honesty is best. I am sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I know that I can be a bit forward, but when I like something...I go after it or them." I said feeling even bolder.

"So are you saying that you are attracted to me?" he said looking me in my eyes.

"If you are smart and your hearing hasn't been dampened by the champagne. I am saying exactly what you are thinking, and I think that you like me too. As a matter of fact, I think you have been attracted to me just as long as I have been attracted to you." I said, now feeling a part of me getting hot. It was as if the bolder I became the more excited I was.

"You are tripping, fa real." he said smiling and trying to play it off.

"You like me a lot." I said throwing all caution to the wind.

"I do?" he asked in a shock tone.

"Yes you do" I said feeling even bolder.

"I do" he said just as he pressed his lips against mine.

His lips were soft and delicate. The kiss expressed deep feelings, and my head began to swim within the moment. I began to feel his chest, and our kiss became passionate. It lingered until he pushed away from me with a look of shock on his face. He looked scared...almost as if I was a monster or something.

"I'm sorry but this ain't right. I don't know what came over me." he stammered as he stumbled to his feet.

"What's not right? What's wrong. Are you okay, Torin?" I asked trying to calm him down.

"No, I am not okay. Just leave...I will be okay." he said picking up the champagne flutes, and arranging things as if preparing to leave.

"Torin, talk to me. I apologize if this wasn't what you wanted. Come on, we can still be friends. I won't tell about the kiss. We can just be friends." I said as my eyes began to water. Part of me was hurt, but part of me was angry.

I thought he was perfect. I didn't want the night to turn out like this. I struggled with my thoughts while I tried to calm him down.

"Torin, don't be angry with yourself. It was innocent. Come on...sit down and relax." I said as I reached out and touched his arm trying to get him to sit down. Suddenly I was propelled across the room. I struggled to get up. I was now angry, and I was hurt. It felt like I was thrown through a brick wall.

"I am not gay...so leave me alone. Leave me the fuck alone...I AM NOT A FUCKING FAGGOT." he screamed as he stormed out of the room.

I laid back down. My insides boiled with anger. My heart dropped to the lowest point. I finally had been dealt the last blow. Tears burned across my cheeks, and I sobbed silently. I slowly got up from the floor. My back was aching from being tossed across the room. I staggered out of the door leaving my jacket, and my heart at the cabin. I didn't want to hurt anymore. I just wanted to be left alone.

About Ten Minutes Away

Torin is hurt. The recent events of the night shocked even him. He didn't mean to hurt Kyle. Everything happened too quickly for him. The kiss was too much. He felt vulnerable, but he couldn't resist the urge to kiss Kyle. He realized he was wrong, but he knew he couldn't make up for the actions...not immediately.

Torin looked up at the sky, and prayed for answers. He wanted to understand the feelings he was having. He wanted to know why his feelings for Kyle were so strong.

Torin wanted to console Kyle right now, but he didn't want to disappoint his parents, Dr. Spalding, or himself. He wanted things to be simple, but if he allowed his feelings to drift the way they were drifting, things would become catastrophic. He couldn't allow that to happen, but his feelings weren't ordinary. Despite how strong his powers were, he couldn't defeat the power he was in conflict with at the present. As much as he tried, the power of love was stronger. He just needed to realize that he couldn't fight it any longer.
