Finding Andrew
Chapter 14 - Dealing With The Backlash
The next couple of months went back to normal. I apologized to both Lizzy and Jeremy for my actions so things were pretty good between the three of us. Of course the school talked about me, but it only lasted for a few days. You know how it is with teens. Just move on to the next big story/news. Wrestling wasn't really anything special either. Andrew, Mario, and myself were all on non-speaking terms so it made it awkward for everyone around us. I admit I had nights where I was a little depressed about not having them around, but if that's what they wanted, it would be something I had to learn to accept.
Things were very awkward around the beginning of April, when Justin told me that Andrew was going out with some new guy. At first, I was actually upset about it but then I realized I shouldn't be. I would be guilty of the same thing he was: being controlling. I don't have any control over him, nor did I want that. Sooo, I had to listen to him brag about his new "man" to me at school. It was obvious that he was trying to make me jealous (and it did work a little I guess), but I did a good job of hiding it around him. (I would give more details, but I didn't have too much written about this in my journal). Justin had informed that he would be transferring to another school at the end of the year. I was pretty sad about that, but I knew that we would still be hanging out. The end of the school year was nearing and some stuff would begin to change.
At our school, we had an event called "Spirit Day". We would go to a shortened version of our 1st period class and attend an assembly afterwards. The theme of the assembly was school spirit (surprise, surprise) and afterwards we were released to do different activities throughout the school. Anything from swimming, playing football on the field, playing video games in the designated game rooms, or dance in the cafeteria. Just a relaxing day, as the end of the year neared. I was hanging out with the group as the guys planned to hit the video game rooms. I though, would have a basketball tournament to participate in. As I went into the locker room to change I saw a very familiar face.
"Hey, Sam." Andrew spoke with his head down. I saw something fall from his face. A tear?
"Hey...What's wrong?"
"Nothing you would care about." He walked off before I could grab a hold of him. It wasn't like he could leave the school, so I would find him later. My team finished 3rd in the tourney which turned out to be pretty fun. I showered and changed back into my regular clothes. Before I hit the game rooms, I thought it would be a good idea to grab a bite to eat. After grabbing two hot dogs, I looked for a place to sit down away from all the music...not like I minded it, but I just wanted to think about stuff. I have no clue what made me look over there, but I saw that there were two people sitting alone at the bleachers behind the baseball field. I didn't really want to talk to him, but I decided it couldn't do any harm. As I approached, Justin saw me and nodded as he left us alone. I offered him one of my hot dogs which he gladly accepted.
"Thanks."
"Don't mention it. What were you and Justin talking about?" His face went red as he turned away. I had no idea why he would do that, but I would find out.
"I was going to ask if you wanted to see a movie later tonight, but never mind."
"I'll go."
"R-really?"
"Why not?"
"I thought you didn't like me anymore."
"I don't know why you think that. If anything, I figured it would be the other way around." We both laughed which relieved a lot of tension. It seemed like both of us were nervous. And to think we passed that stage...
"Sam, I have something to tell you."
"Shoot." He stared a hole into his half-eaten hot dog before he finally spoke.
"I broke up with Josh yesterday."
"Sorry to hear that."
"Don't be. I thought that going out with someone would fill the void that you left, but I was wrong."
"So what are you getting at?" I knew, but I just wanted to hear him say it. Yes, I know it's mean, but I couldn't resist it.
"You don't know?"
"If I did, I wouldn't ask." He looked at me with an "I can't believe it" face, and it took every ounce of concentration to keep from busting out in a fit of laughter.
"Man, I can't believe you. Fine, I admit that I made a mistake. I only went out with him to get you jealous."
"Ok."
"Just ok? That's all you have to say?"
"Yup. I figured it out and just let fate run its course. If you would have eventually had feelings for him fine. If not, that's fine too. I may be a little green when it comes to dating and relationships, but I know how it works. I've watched a few." He shook his head as he took a bite out of the hot dog.
"Do you think we could try again?" He asked nervously.
"Sure. I promised I would wait and I plan on keeping it." He hugged me almost knocking me off the bleachers. We laughed, but the mood quickly turned back to serious.
"So what do you want from me?"
"Just be yourself, Andrew. And realize that I'm a person too. I don't mind taking a back seat, but you do need to understand there are two of us. As much as I do care about you, it has to be about us...not just you."
"Deal." We shook hands and made our way back to the school. Once inside, we disappeared into the game rooms. I kept my eye on him most of the time, but I was in there to hang out with my friends. We were playing DDR (if you don't know what it is, I can explain in an email...or just do a web search) while Andrew was busy playing Halo. In between my turns, I sat back on a counter and talked with MJ. After my last game, I put back on my shoes and we started talking again.
"Man, what got into you? Ever since the assembly you have that dumb smile on your face." I laughed as I never realized that.
"Let's just say that someone made me really happy today." With that, I looked out the corner of my eye to see Andrew nodding his head yes as he was playing.
"So you're dating again?"
"Yea. Going to the movies tonight. Should be fun." Andrew nodded as he continued to play.
"You think she might do anything in there?" At first, I was going to just let that one go unanswered. Too bad. I got a quick thought.
"I dunno. She is a real horny one. Might even get another blowjob." Mario laughed, and unknowingly to any else in the room, Andrew blushed a very deep shade of red. I laughed as I decided to take a break in the cafeteria.
Things were fun for the rest of the day. After the final bell rang, we walked to the movie theater. I figured I would walk with them since it would only be another ten minutes to get home. They were going to Spiderman, and were surprised when I opted out. MJ knew why (sort of), so I parted ways and walked home. As soon as I got there I hopped on the computer to find Andrew online. He of course complained about me joking with MJ about him, but he eventually laughed it off. I don't know why, but we agreed to see the 10:20pm showing. I ended up taking a very long nap and woke up just thirty minutes before. I hopped in the shower, put on some comfy jeans and a polo, and was on my way.
I'm finally going to get some time off! Lol, I almost don't know what to do. It's really been awhile since I could wake up and not have anything to do. For the people that viewed my myspace page...sorry for kind of ruining the ending...I really blew that one :(
Back to the time off for a second. For those of you who have seen me on msn, I'm in the span of working 23 days in a row...and today is #23!!! So, that is why the chapters, emails, and other stuff have been coming slower. Trying to get a new staff hired, and stuff situated before I take off to wherever I go. I will be taking my labtop and journals so I plan on keeping things moving along. Expect no less than two chapters next week!
And I will get back on the email prowl. And to thing, I was up to speed last week...
