Chapter 12
Today was the day, the day I was going to work to get Chris back. I had decided to wait until Thanksgiving day to try and talk to him. I figured if I wait until then I could go to his big game and surprise him after he won against Weytown, my hometown. I could show him how much I cared to come and try to talk to him. I had it all worked out in my head.
The night before I didn't sleep a wink, so I woke up at 7 and the game wasn't until 10. I decided to go out and talk to my mom in the kitchen, since she was still up cooking.
"Morning mom!" I said walking into the kitchen.
"Morning son, but why are you up? I never get to see you before noon usually?" she asked.
I laughed. "Couldn't sleep, to pumped. Today is the big game!"
"Aww I see. So your going to the game, is it at your school this year?"
"Oh no mom... I'm not going to my schools...I'm going to go to the Weytown verses Hightown game..."
"Oh and why is that..."
I gulped. This had run threw my head all night too. "I need to talk to Chris and I figured after the game would be a good time. It's a holiday."
"Oh regarding your fight? I'm guessing you got in a fight since he hasn't been around much?"
"Something like that..." I paused. "We broke up..."
"What!?" My mom screeched so loud I thought she was going to wake everyone in the house.
"We broke up, Mom. Like he was my boyfriend and we ended it. We got in a fight and I broke it off, but I am stupid and want him back..."
"You're gay!?!" My mom yelled again. Dropping the spoon that was in her hand.
"Yes mom." I said slightly backing up in my chair.
"Robert!" My mom yelled for my dad.
I hoped out of my chair. "Mom what are you doing?" I started to freak.
"Robert!" My dad started to come out of the bedroom.
I stood up from my chair and was going to exit.
"Yeah yeah...I'm coming what's wrong?" My dad groggily said coming into the kitchen.
"You're son has something he needs to tell us...both..." She said shooting me a look.
I froze there.
"Kyle what is it?" he looked at me.
I could feel tears forming in eyes but I pushed them back and acted strong. Today was my day. "Dad I'm gay and there is nothing you can do about it. Also I am working to get back my boyfriend Chris. Okay?"
My dad just stood there shocked. I couldn't tell if he was going to yell at me or not. I started to back to the door when my mom spoke.
She had turned to my dad and said, "I win!"
"What?" I said confused.
"I guess you were right..." My father said.
"I told you my motherly instinct is never wrong..."
I finally butted in. "What the fuck are you guys talking about?"
"Kyle language!" My mom yelled.
"Sorry mom... but what's going on?"
"Son your mom and me were just discussing this a few weeks ago. See your mother said that you were depressed because of you and Chris, but I just thought it was school. I guess your mother was right..."
"Oh..."
"But son don't worry this doesn't change anything. We still love you. We kind of have always known, well at least me. I think its since you liked to play with the pink power ranger so much and dressed up like her for one Halloween. I still love you though."
This is when I finally broke down in tears and went over and hugged my parents. We stayed like this for a few minutes until my mom was in tears and broke away saying. "Kyle you got to hurry up and get ready. You need to go get your man back!"
I laughed and headed for the shower. It really wasn't as bad as I had thought. I know there are some people out there , who have horror stories about their coming out to their parents, but I guess Chris and I were just very lucky. As I showered I lathered myself in my favorite AXE body wash (which I new Chris loved on me.) And then hopped out. I dressed in Weytown clothes, because even though I was trying to get him back I had to root on my hometown.
By the time I was ready it was about 8:30 and I hopped in my car and headed to my friend Jason's house. He lived in my town and since we were both going to the game we decided to carpool. I picked him up and we had small talk. He didn't know about Chris and me so that didn't come up in the conversation. By the time we got to the stadium it was 9:15 and the line to get in the gate was pretty long.
We got lucky and found a wicked close parking space to the stadium. We went and stood in line and started to joke around with some friends of Jason's. As we joked and started to move forward a slightly fumbled and bumped the person in front of me. I turned around to apologize to see Mrs. Thomas staring back at me.
"I'm sorr..."I stopped.
"Kyle." Mrs. Thomas said in a rather surprised tone. Mr. Thomas who was standing next to her turned around to face me to.
"Hi Mr. and Mrs. Thomas. I'm sorry for bumping you," I said giving a light smile.
"It's alright." Mrs. Thomas said kind of flatly.
"Okay. How have you guys been?" I asked trying to be polite.
"Fine." His dad answered.
"And Chris?" I asked.
"He's great." Mrs. Thomas said quickly with some coldness in her voice.
I took a breath and checked that my friends weren't listening. "I'm sorry. You guys must hate me right now. I understand if you do. We made a mistake...I made a mistake and I regret losing Chris. It was just that..."
"Kyle, that part of Christopher's personal life is none of our business. We do not need to know, nor do we hate you. We know how Chris was when he was with you and then after you. Whatever happened really hurt him." Mrs. Thomas stated.
"Like I said I'm so..."
"And like I said that's between you and our son. Now it's time to go in. It was nice seeing you." She stepped forward and gave me a hug. I couldn't tell what her feelings towards me were they were so mixed.
At that we were at the gate so we all just paid for our tickets and went out separate ways. They went to the Hightown side and I went to the Weytown side. Jason had already left me to be with his friends so I picked a seat in the first row of the bleachers where I could see the whole field.
As I sat there waiting for the game to begin, I ran all the possible scenario's through my head. What if he as angry to see me. What if he was happy but wasn't going to take me back...I couldn't think like that...
Finally started to call out the roasters for the teams in the players hit the field. I heard them call out Ben's name and number. Next I heard them call out Christopher Thomas number 8 and the quarterback of the Hightown team. I clapped really hard as they read all his statistics and basically talked him up. I watched as his toned body covered in pads and spandex took the field. I could see his face under his helmet. He had the black paint under his eyes and a huge smile on his face filled with his mouth guard.
I could not take my eyes off him even when he went to the sidelines, while the cheerleaders performed their intro cheer. I didn't really watch them because one none of them looked as good as my man and compared to my sisters competitive team they sucked.
Then he game got underway and my eyes never left Chris. He was the center of the game for me and the rest of the crowd. He commanded the field and everyone knew it. He was racking up the points like crazy. Right before half it was 28 to 0 Hightown and Chris was ready to throw another touchdown past.
He snapped and took two steps backed. I loved how he stepped. It was like he bounced off the ground slightly. Then I watched him slowly cock his arm back to pass as he was about the start a bounce...when a huge truck of a kid came straight across. He knocked Chris torso as he was a little of the air and sent his body flying about five feet in the air.
I had jumped to my feet. Everything seemed in slow motion.
I watched the ball fall from Chris' limp hand in the air as he continued to sore through the air. After what seemed like forever his body started to fall.
I wanted too catch him so bad, but he was to far away I couldn't.
Finally his body hit the ground. I watched it bounce a few times. His head was snapping off the ground and then finally on the third bounce his helmet flew off and I watched his bare head smack off the ground...
AUTHOR'S END NOTE: Alright Guys I have some news to tell you so that you are prepared. At this point I am planning another 4 chapters for the story until I bring it to a "temporary ending." The reason it is ending is due to my schedule at the end of the summer will not allow for much writing. However I'll try and write when I have free time, because I do have future plans for the story that I really want to get to! So look around holiday times and next summer, for updates. I am thinking about also starting an UPDATE LIST by email AFTER CHAPTER 16 comes out so you will know when exactly I update. Feel free to send me an email to writenowin@gmail.com after chapter 16 to be put on this list. Enjoy!
