Well first off I want to apologize for how long it has taken me to get this chapter up, school got the best of me this year onto of some family emergencies last year that kept getting in the way and I really found myself in a bit of a rut when it came to my writing but I am getting back to myself and my writing and have a lot of stories currently on the go to get out there for you guys.

I hope you guys enjoy the new chapter and please feel free to email me at: corey_246@yahoo.com with comments/criticisms or just to say Hi. Also feel free to check out my yahoo group, it will have the stories themselves posted but also extra stuff for you guys (blogs etc.): http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CGNWriting.

So now to get down to business. This is a work of fiction that involves relations between two men. If this type of work is illegal to read in your country/state/province stop here or continue at your own risk. If this type of work offends you I really don't understand why you are here but I'd stop now.

I also in my work am trying something new. Music is my life, so I am incorporating music that inspires the scene/story/character which I will include in brackets in the dialogue. My work plays out in my head much like a TV show (I have no life don't judge me), so the music is a major part of it all for me. I do not own the rights to the music, I am simply using it for effect.

So here is the new chapter, I really hope you guys enjoy it.

The Forbidden Love of a High School Boy: Chapter 8

(Happy Ending - Mika)

I woke up alone. Closing my eyes, I opened them again, testing the space next to me. It stayed empty. The sheets felt oddly cold as I rolled onto my back and sat up. 'He didn't stay... but why would he?' I thought, as I climbed from the bed and walked to the doors of the deck. I wandered outside into the warm air, it looked like it was going to rain, the clouds dark in the distance. I breathed in deeply, I loved the smell right before it would rain.

Looking to Luke's doors I found they were open, I quietly wandered over to his room was empty. The couch was normal, he didn't even stay over last night. There was no blanket, no pillow, just Luke's clothes tossed onto it.

I wandered down the stairs fresh from my shower, but I couldn't get rid of the heaviness in my stomach. I wanted to walk into the kitchen and see him there, see him cooking breakfast, to feel him against me as we kiss, to hear his voice. I sounded like some lovesick puppy.

My feet seemed to root themselves to the floor, holding me back from the disappointment of finding the kitchen empty. I stepped forwards and slowly walked into the silence of the room. Empty. I almost felt panicked as I quickly went to the backdoors, the backyard was empty. I ran from the kitchen and threw open the front door, running out onto the deck, my bare feet pounding the deck. His car was gone. What did I do? I fucked this all up royally, chased away something I had always wanted.

I had been standing here for almost an hour, looking out over the water, standing where we had been when Jared first showed me his spot, the first time I realized how much he meant to me. Now he was gone, I had pushed him away because of my stupid selfishness.

I turned around and slowly made my way to my bike, kicking a large rock out of my path as I reached it. Typical me, had to go ruin the best thing that had happened to me.

I picked my bike and climbed on, peddling until I reached the hill and stopped as I started down it. The wind hitting my face I daringly closed my eyes, the handle bars rocking, vibrating in my hands as my tires bounced over the stones and bumps. I wanted to keep my eyes shut, go back to bed and hide; like not seeing him would make me think he was still there. I knew I'd have to face it all, face the fact I chased Jared away, I'd have to actually face Jared... I just wanted to sleep.

With a sudden jerk my handlebars suddenly twisted, my eyes opening as I flipped forwards, hitting the ground and sliding across the gravel road off to the ditch, the sky was the last thing I saw as I rolled, right before a sharp pain suddenly registered with me and I slowly blacked out.

Mom's face hovered over mine as I slowly opened my eyes, I sighed as I looked to find dad next to me on the other side of the bed. I looked around, lifting my head as I let out a groan of pain. I was in a hospital, shock running through me I let my head fall back onto the pillow. Even that hurt.

"You're alright" my mom said reassuringly, tears in her eyes. I nodded and closed my eyes completely disagreeing with her. I was far from alright. The sharp but dull thudding in my head registered with me and I breathed in deeply as I looked to dad, he looked at me from my mom.

"You crashed your bike, hit your head pretty bad and got knocked out" he said, I nodded, breathing deeply as a doctor suddenly pulled back a curtain, the rattling of the hooks on the runner sounding like nails on a chalkboard to me. Can't they give me something? I thought.

I looked up to the doctor, seeing behind her that was in the emergency room, doctors and nurses wandering around. Everything sounded louder than it probably actually was, I wanted to turn the volume off.

"So how's our patient?" asked the woman, she smiled as she looked over the clip board in her hand.

"I'm alright" I said quietly, thinking over what had happened, I remembered falling and hitting the ground, cursing myself for being so stupid.

"Well it's a good thing your friend found you, we had to give you 10 stitches on the side of your head" she said as she came over to me, I could feel her pushing my hair around on the side of my head above my ear. "Everything is fine though, you seem to have a minor concussion so you may feel nauseous or light-headed, so just take it easy, okay?" she asked smiling, I nodded, but everything she said seemed to have been lost on me. Who found me?

"So we can take him home?" my mom asked, the doctor smiled and began to tell her to keep an eye on me, I looked to dad quickly.

"Who found me?" I asked, he looked up at me as he pulled on his jacket.

"Jared did, brought you in and called us after" he said, I sat up and slowly stood up as dizziness washed over me. Dad grinned and he put his hand on my back and we slowly made our way out of the ER, mom racing ahead to bring the car around.

"Is he still here?" I asked when mom was gone, trying to keep my voice calm.

"No, he left, got a little crowded in there. He was glued to your side though, though I guess Luke would kill him if you got hurt and he left" said dad chuckling, I couldn't even force a smile. Luke has a very different reason to kill Jared, at least he did.

The rain had been pounding down on the roof of the house, I laid on my bed listening to it as it grew stronger. It was silent now thankfully, I watched the sun begin to set through the open doors out to the deck. At least he took me to the hospital, I thought, could've just left me there.

I got up getting mad at myself for thinking something like that, he wasn't like that. I went out onto the deck and wandered over to Luke's room, looking in to find him asleep on his couch. He was suppose to be watching me according to mom's orders. Some babysitter. I went back to my room and wrote him a note, he knew where I'd be, I just needed to clear my head. I made my way downstairs quietly so I wouldn't wake Luke as I prayed mom and dad hadn't come home yet. After quickly checking the kitchen and living room I grabbed my keys and quietly left.

I could feel the vibrations run through the metal bat as I hit the ball, a loud pop echoing off the concrete walls as the ball went flying. I sighed as the machine shut down, I was out balls. I pulled some money out of my pocket as I turned around to go to the front desk, I was almost had the batting cages to myself except for an older man down at the opposite end. Then I saw Jared, he was sitting on some benches a cage down watching me.

"You should be resting" he said frowning as he stood up, walking over to the gate, standing in front of it so I couldn't open it.

"Couldn't sit still..." I said, going to open the gate, he didn't move. "Is Luke looking for me?" I asked, he shook his head and leaned on the frame of the gate, I sighed and let my hand fall from the handle. He had me cornered and he knew it.

"I saw you leaving your house, knew you shouldn't be out here with a concussion" he said, I tried not to look him in the eye more for the sake of emotions that I could feel teetering on the edge now that he was here.

"So you followed me? And how did you know I have a concussion?" I asked.

"You mom came and thanked me, told me how you were. And I knew where you'd be going, you always come here to unwind. Been sitting outside but I finally came in" he said, I could feel his eyes glancing to the side of my head, like he could see the dull thud that was happening there.

"Well you didn't need to come" I said, he sighed and nodded. "Are you going to let me out?" I asked, he shrugged and gave me that cocky grin of his.

"Will you come home? You need to take it easy" he said.

"I'm fine" I said, lying through my teeth, my head was killing me. I wanted to have some water, lay down and just sleep.

"You look pale... please Alex?" he asked, the concern in his voice hit me hard as always and I was as always pushed over.

"Yeah fine... just let me out of here?" I asked, he smiled and opened the gate for me and we started to go to the front desk so I could hand in my bat. Jared stood at the door waiting for me, I could feel his eyes on me, I couldn't stop my stomach from fluttering a little. Was he staying? Or was he just taking me home?

Jared smiled as he opened the door for me, goose bumps running over my body as his hand went to the small of my back as he steered me towards his car. The rain was just starting to fall again, it felt nice as it landed on my face. Jared let go as he opened my door and made his way to his side. I wanted to fix this all, but I didn't want to face it. What if he was over it? I didn't think I could actually hear the words come from him, but the hell I was putting myself through wasn't any better.

It seemed we were moving fast, already in the car we were driving in silence, no talking, no music, even the sound rain on the roof seemed to have dissolved into nothing but a low hum in the distance. I couldn't force myself to speak but I couldn't stop myself from thinking.

"I need to say something" whispered Jared, I looked to him quickly, praying whatever it was going to be good and not bad. "Well not say something, just bring something up. The other night, were you serious about... you know about what you said, ending this all?" he asked softly.

"No... Jesus Jared no I'm sorry. I wouldn't ever... I love you". My mouth snapped shut as the words left my mouth, what did I just say? What do I do now?

Jared suddenly began to laugh, I looked in horror as he glanced to me laughing, he shook his head as he went a little faster, outside speeding past quicker as someone started laughing from behind me, I looked back to find not only Luke but Sam, both of them laughing.

"What the fuck..." I whispered, Sam slowly leaned forward, wrapping his arms around the driver's seat, his hands slowly rubbing Jared's chest.

"You hear that? The little guy love's you" he said grinning.

My eyes shot open and a pair of hands pushed me back down as I tried to sit up, I smacked them away but finally gave up as Luke's voice registered with me.

"Alex! Knock it off, calm down" he said, I sat up quickly, my head spinning a little, the room following it's motion. "You were dreaming... it was just a dream" Luke said, his voice strained, his face worried.

"You let me sleep?" I asked, running my hand over my head, Luke nodded, frowning a little. "You really are a bad babysitter...".
