We had just heard the news. The MMC was ending. It was sad for everyone, but we all knew all good things do come to an end or they do at times. I was the last hired and the first let go. The six months on the show I had made some incredible friends. One of those great friends was a kid or a teen who was nicknamed JC, but to his friends it was Josh or Joshua. He was very mature for his age. I thought it was cute. He was always helping the others on the show. Well anyway it was the last taping today of the MMC and it was time to go. I was walking out to my car when I heard Josh call my name.
"Hey Wes, wait up will ya?" I turned as giggled as he ran over to me with Justin following.
"What's up guys?" I asked them when they got to me.
"Well we were wondering if you wanted to get something to eat with us and all." Justin asked shyly. I had never really known Justin to be shy but there's always a first for every thing.
"I guess, what did you guys have in mind?"
"Well we were kind of thinking pizza?" Of course pizza was my favorite food.
"Sure you guys wanna ride with me or what?" I asked offering to carry them where ever even though Josh had his own ride.
"Nah we want you to ride with us? Is that okay?" Josh asked. I wouldn't turn the offer down for a million dollars. Once I agreed we began to joke and talk like we always did. When we arrived at the pizza parlor I was very surprised. After I had walked in everyone yelled...
"Surprise!!!!!!!" What I had failed to mention was it was my birthday today. I was turning seventeen. What started out as a sad day ended up being a very joyful day. I spent four hours there eating pizza and talking to my friends. Looking at my watch I knew I needed to go so I found Josh and Just and let them know I needed to get home after I got my car. They took me to get my car and I headed home. But before I left the two I hugged both of them and we even had tears in our eyes. We promised each other to keep in touch. See I was moving away from the area. My mom and family wanted to return to mom's home town of Texarkana. So we did.
On my way home I just happened to look in the seat to find a gift wrapped in gold paper. It was fairly small but not too small. When I pulled up to the house I grabbed the package and my other things and went upstairs to my room. I sat the gift on the dresser and just let it sit for a while. Most of my things had been packed and loaded onto the moving van. I went back downstairs to see when we were leaving.
"Mom what time we heading out?" I asked as I entered the kitchen.
"We are fixing to go son, go grab what you don't want o the van and put it in your car." She told me. I did as told and in an hours time we were headed to my moms home town of Texarkana.
Some where between Alabama and Arkansas
JC sat on the bus watching his newest family the guys of NSYNC joke and laugh. Justin was always there if he needed him. The past 4-5 years have been hard especially since he had lost contact with Wes.
Flashback
"Hey Josh, I know your gonna miss him as will I. Who knows maybe one day we will meet again."
"Just you don't understand, you just don't understand." Said as some tears fell onto his face.
"Then tell me Josh, make me understand..." Just had moved next to Josh and pulled him into a hug. "You love him don't ya?"
"How...how did you know? You don't hate me do ya?" josh spat out franticly.
"Yes Josh I know your gay and no I don't hate you. We are best friends I won't do that to my best friend." Josh just broke down crying at least he knew some one was there to help him with his secret.
But then again a couple of years later after MMC he became part of this group and really had been busy. He sighed as they finally crossed the state line of Arkansas headed for Little Rock. He wasn't sure if Wes still lived here or not. No one has been able to find him. It was like he just disappeared from the face of the earth. Even though they were going to Little Rock they were making a side trip to Texarkana. JC had to see if Wes was still around from the last address he had gotten from him.
St.Micheal Hospital
I awoke to a small room not my bed room that is for sure but a room. The color scheme was really bad. I heard a beeping sound to the side of me and looked. It was a heart monitor. Then it registered with me I was in a hospital, but why? I looked for the nurse call button knowing I needed to get some answers and some water. I finally found it and presses it. Alarms went off all over the room and out side. I heard raised voices and running then my door burst open and standing there was about fifteen nurses.
"He's awake call the doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Someone yelled. one of the smaller quieter nurses came over to me.
"Can I get you anything?"
"Yes ma'am, may I have some water please." She quickly grabbed the water pitcher and filled a glass full of water. I had to drink through a straw but I felt a lot better. Just as I finished the second glass the Doctor rushed in with tears in his eyes.
"It's true you awoke after about 5 years you awoke." Huh?? 4-5 years?? what was going on??
"Huh??"
"You don't remember much do you?
"No should I?"
"Most likely not, but I wanted to check and see what you did remember."
"I don't understand?"
"Well what is the last thing you remember?"
"Well..." I retreated into my mind thinking of the last thing I did remember that wasn't in pieces. Everything was just in bits. Not one single memory. I let a few tears fall as I looked up at the doctor. "I don't remember, I can't remember anything other than my name." The doctor sighed and then spoke.
"Do you mind if I asked you some questions and general exam of you since you are now awake."
"I don't mind." I was feeling stronger by the second. The doctor went through a series of questions on me and had some tests done. About three hours later I was left alone to rest, but I wasn't tired at all. Hell I've been asleep for almost 5 years.
The hospital wanted me to stay a few more days just to be sure every things was gonna be okay. During those few days I watched TV, read any kind of normal magazine on hand, and read what few cards there were in my room. I would have a few visitors mostly the staff well all were the staff. But there was this one nurse that would always sit and talk to me the longest or listen to me. And at time hold me as I cried cause of my memory.
"You know while you were in the coma I would sit or stand at the door and watch you. You seemed so fragile but strong. I always wanted to know what you were thinking, what your mind was seeing." She then began to cry. "I wanted to go where ever you were and bring you back to this place. You deserve better. But you spent five years asleep that took away your life." I was crying too. Not only had I lost those five years of my life, but I couldn't remember anything other than my name.
I soon got tired of trying to piece together what had happened in my life. If I dwelt on it I wouldn't be free. I had to go and build what I had lost. Hoping I would in time regain my life, my past. I had gotten some clothes from the hospital. They had fed me and made sure I would be okay. I don't remember a whole lot of my life. The hospital had called me a cab and I was on my way home or to the place that was supposed to be my home. I opened the door to the large house and walked in. Flowers and cards were all over the place. I made my way upstairs. I was looking at this place like I was a guest here. I really wasn't or so I was told. I passed a room that looked like parents had slept there. Then I came to a room that could be mine. I guess this maybe my room since it held pictures of me in it. On a desk in the corner was a gift wrapped in gold. It seemed strangely familiar. I picked it up and it had To: Wes From: Josh on it. I opened it and was a silver ring. I looked at the card next to it. It said:
Dear Wes,
I wanted to tell you that I have loved you since I laid eyes on you the day you walked onto the MMC set. I hope you don't get scared and all. I just wanted to tell you I Love You. Josh
'Who was Josh?' 'And what is MMC. Who was NSYNC? What was NSYNC?. I spent the next week or so cleaning up the house and making my self familiar to it once again. I had learned where the dresser was one night the hard way. I wore a bruise on my leg for a three or four days.
When things got quiet at night and I wasn't in the mood to watch TV, I would listen to the radio. I think I had just about worn out the dial after I had come home. I couldn't seem to find anything that appealed to me. So I closed my eyes and turned the dial and left it on what ever station it hit.
"Ok this is Chase Elliot with your Power 95.9 weather..." I listened to the weather and a few commercials. I was fixing to change it when he finally put some music on. I didn't know the song or the artist but it seemed okay.
I think you're already gone.
I think I'm finally scared now
You think I'm weak - But I think you're wrong
I think you're already leaving
Feels like your hand is on the door
I thought this place was an empire
But now I'm relaxed - I can't be sure
I think you're so mean - I think we should try
I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - I think too much
I know this is wrong it's a problem I'm dealing
If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone - baby you need to come home
Cuz there's a little bit of something me
In everything in you
I bet you're hard to get over
I bet the room just won't shine
I bet my hands I can stay here
I bet you need - more than you mind
I think you're so mean - I think we should try
I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - that I know too much
I can't relate and that's a problem
I'm feeling
If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone - baby you need to come home
cuz there's a little bit of something me
In everything in you
I think you're so mean - I think we should try
I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - do I talk too much
I know it's wrong it's a problem I'm dealing
One day I went to get some the mail when Cindy my nurse from when I was in the hospital drove up. I smiled cause she was the only one other than the doctor who ever visited me anymore. She jumped out of the car and ran over to me very excited about something.
"Wes guess what today is?" I was taken back, I didn't know what today was. Or why it was so special.
"I give what is today?" I said in a happy tone. She knew I was very serious about me not knowing.
"It's your BIRTHDAY!!!!" she yelled that last part of the sentence out. Then it hit me the date. December 14, 1978. My birthday. I began to smile at her excitement.
"So it's my birthday, but that doesn't explain your excitement."
"Well me and the staff at the hospital wanted you to have a chance to go to a concert for your first time that you could remember. And well the closest one is in Little Rock and it is NSYNC!!!!" I had heard a few of their songs on the radio but really and truly wasn't to into them. But I was excited that they did what they did for me.
"Wow!!!! You really didn't have to."
"We know but we wanted you to have something special." She handed me an envelope with what I thought were tickets. "Go ahead and open it." I did and I almost fell down there wasn't only a ticket but a an all access pass as well. Basically once I got there I could go anywhere I wanted. I looked at the date and noticed it was in two days. I was so excited. She hugged me and then said she really had to get to work but that she would call me later to check on me. She was really a sweet person. She was and is my best friend. I walked into the house and began to round things up for my trip. I pulled out the phone book and started to make calls to hotels to see if any had any vacancies. Of course there was only one hotel that had any vacancies so I grabbed the last one. The room was a suite and only one other room on the floor. I told them I would pay as soon as I got there which would be tonight.
Driving down the interstate was very boring to say the least. I had left around 12:00 noon. Boy was that a bad thing to do in Texarkana. I arrived around five thirty. I found the hotel and checked in. I decided I would have a look around to see what was the easiest way to get to the stadium. I found the stadium and began to look for parking. That in its self was no easy job. I finally found one on the far side of the stadium I could see the equipment vans and trailers and a bus that was gold and black. 'Must be them' I thought. I got out and headed up to the front gates. There were several guards there keeping those who had no business in the stadium out. I pulled out my all access pass out and walked up to the gates. Surprisingly they stepped aside and let me through. the girls that were out there sent some offensive language to me and all but I just ignored that. I walked around the area. Crews were putting up the final safety things and checking the lights. I saw down at the front was a group of five guys huddled together going over something. I walked down there and tripped over some wires that were as of yet not set down with tape. Of course one of the guys down in the front saw it and ran to the person who fell.
"Hey you okay you aren't gonna sue us or anything?"
"Yeah I'm fine just not watching where I was going." I finally looked you and saw this blonde green eyed person helping me up. He was wearing a mic set and just comfortable clothes.
"My name is Lance" He said. By now the other four guys made it to us.
"Wes!!!" I heard someone scream and then a set of arms surrounding me in a tight hug.
"Uh yeah that's my name but umm... who are you."
TBC...
What's gonna happen? How is Justin and JC gonna react with their friend not remembering who they are? I guess if you like this then I will continue it. If not then I'll trash it. please, please let me know what you all think of it. Thanks Wes.
