I would've sat there until he wanted to move, but something wasn't right, clouds in the distance were familiarly stirring and growing darker by the seconds, my eyes met Dylan, we both understood what this meant -- Abominations.

"Listen Jord we've got to get moving now" I said as I lifted him up by holding onto his arm, his head rose, his eyes red with all the tears that had previously dropped into the scolding hot sand.

"Why what's wrong?" he asked looking around and noticing the darkened clouds moving towards us.

"Abominations are coming, we need to get to Sarah" Dylan explained "I'll go alert her" he said which a flash of light followed leaving Dylan's footprints in the sand, we began to run back towards the house, I had to pick Jordan up because he was just running way too slow for my liking. Upon reaching the house Sarah and Dylan were sat inside our pretty run down Jeep, I put Jordan down, ushered him into the back seat and sat into the passenger seat next to Sarah.

"Wait if Dylan can teleport why are we getting into a car?" I heard Jordan ask worriedly in the back seat.

"I can only teleport myself and one other, maybe two on a good day, but there's no guarantee I can make it back to the same spot which is why I always get so goddamn lost in this desert, plus the person left behind is as good as dead if left alone" I heard Dylan explain as he was staring out the back window with Jordan looking for the first sign of trouble.

Sarah floored it and began driving away from the clouds which were now incredibly close, feint growls and howls erupted in the distance, followed by silhouettes appearing behind the sand hill we were sitting on moments ago which in seconds began sprinting towards us at an alarming speed. We were now on a more rocky terrain and the Jeep was shaking uncontrollably.

"Hold on!" Sarah shouted as she put her foot down even more, causing my vision to blur, shapes outside the jeep were ungraspable due to the vicious movement of the car.

"Can't you get off of these rocks Sarah?!" I shouted over the sound of the tires struggling to keep up with the speed.

"Do you want to try and drive?!" she responded angrily, he determined eyes were locked ahead. Suddenly the shaking stopped, thank god, we we're now speeding on a deserted concrete road which never felt better.

"They're gone!" Dylan announced whilst still looking out of the rear window. If only it was that simple.

"Sarah?" I said as I looked over at here, she nodded and began to crawl over and switch places with me allowing me to take over the wheel. Sarah sat still and closed her eyes as I continued to drive as fast as possible without crashing.

"What is she doing?" Jordan asked confused.

"She's reading the thoughts of the abominations to see how close they are" I explained.

"Yup, she probably knows everything you think about all of us" Dylan teased resulting in Jordan looking incredibly embarrassed on top of being scared.

"I-I can't.. there's" Sarah stuttered, her face now scrunched up in pain "something's out there blocking me" her eyelids had lifted showing her eyes which were now severely bloodshot. All four doors of the jeep were torn off concurrently and the engine began to fail resulting the car stopping in the middle of nowhere, we were completely vulnerable.

"Everyone out!" I ordered, we all rushed out, moved away from the car and stood in a circle around Jordan, the sky was now blanketed with darkness like the dead of night, clouds above us were dropping streaks of lightning around us. "Stay together" I told everyone as I reached my arm behind me to check everyone was still together.

Shadowy figures began to surround us and grouped to make the most horrific looking silhouettes. Without a moment's notice a creature had bolted towards us, I raised my arm and focused at the centre of it, a streak of purple light shot from my hand and wrapped around whatever it was. The creature let out a deafening screech into the air causing snarls of bloodlust between the surrounding, things.

Another figure had lunged forward for Sarah, only to be thrown to the ground with a force that made me wince at the pain it must've been feeling. Dylan was already a step ahead of the next wave of attacks as he teleported away in a flash grabbing two of the creatures, teleported higher than I could see and dropping them before teleporting back down and resuming the defensive circle around Jordan. The attacks stopped after that, everything was silent and still and the only thing that could be heard is the heavy breaking of the three behind me -- perhaps they got the idea that throwing their weak hounds at us wasn't going to work, whatever, I got impatient. I raised my hand again and shot rings of purple light around us which momentarily lit up the shapes around us, there were about 12 more hounds -- I'd never seen one up close before, their fur was messy and jet black, half-decayed mouths gushing with saliva containing several rows of knife- like teeth, their most prominent feature though were their blood-red eyes. There were also 2 men/abominations stood behind the hounds with metallic masks covering their faces, they were both bald with black veins covering their scalp. They had mouths just like the hounds although they weren't decayed, but they were lined with several sharp teeth. A heard a little whimper of fear come from behind me, I turned to see Jordan standing on his tiptoes trying to count the abominations and hounds surrounding us, I gave him a reassuring smile, his eyes met mine and widened as an ice-cold chain had wrapped around my throat and heaved me away from the group.

"No!" Jordan shouted as he broke from the circle and ran after me.

"NO STAY THERE!" I shouted back but it was too late, I could see the look on his face that he realised his mistake as soon as he noticed a wisp of smoke speed toward him.

"JORDAN!" I screamed whilst ripping the chains from my neck, spinning my body around and round-house kicking the abomination in the stomach knocking him to the floor. The darkness in the sky started to roll back and light began to shine through the clouds, I looked back to see Sarah and Dylan stood back to back scanning the area -- all of the hounds were gone except for the four dead ones, I span back around again to finish of the abomination but he/it was gone too. I began to walk back to the group and fear coursed through me as I notice Jordan wasn't with the other two, I span around in a 360 angle but there was no sign of him. They've taken him.

Thanks a lot for reading, I'm not too experienced with writing and I don't have an editor so I'm sorry if things are wrong but I'd be happy to take tips, suggestions and questions - you can email me at joopfic@hotmail.com.
