CHAPTER 11
The sound of the door opening caused Kellen to tense up even more. JC noticed this and walked over to the group of people who had just walked in. He leaned toward them and began whispering. “Give me a minute. I think I may have startled him when he woke up. Let me talk to him alone. I think that with this many people in here, he night go into some kind of attack or something.”
The other guys turned to leave the room. Camden continued to watch Kellen. He wanted nothing more than to just run to his brother and comfort him. He realized though that JC would probably have better luck in comforting Kellen. He looked at JC and nodded to him then turned and followed the guys out of the room. He quietly shut the door as he went. Once he was back in the suite living room, he decided that he should call his parents, and let them know what had happened. He began feeling around his pockets. Then remembered the whole reason he had come to the Nsync suite earlier that evening. He had left his phone in Kellen’s room. He looked around the room and noticed a phone on the floor. Picking it up, he realized it was Kellen’s. He flipped it opened and began looking through the phone book. He looked at the guys and excused himself. He walked out into the hallway, and pushed the talk button. After about three rings, someone picked up on the other end.
“Hello?” Nicole greeted.
“Hi Nicole. It’s Camden.” He said trying not to sound to depressed.
“Camden! It’s good to hear from you. I haven’t talked to you in weeks. How are you?”
“To be honest Nichole, I’ve been better. Is Mom or Dad there?”
“Yes actually. Mom is right here in the kitchen with me. Hold on.” He listened as Nicole told their mom who it was.
“Camden? How are you Sweetheart?” Kate asked happily.
“I’m fine Mom, but I’ve had better days.” Camden answered.
“What’s wrong? It isn’t Chelsea is it?” Kate asked with a concerned voice.
“No Mom, She is fine. Actually I called to tell you about Kellen.” He said preparing himself for the third degree.
“What’s wrong with Kellen? Where is he?” She asked worry filling her voice.
“He’s with me Mom but,” Camden’s voice trailed as he thought of a way to tell his mom what happened without revealing to her Kellen’s sexuality. He knew that Kellen wanted to tell their mom and dad himself and he wasn’t about to betray the trust that Kellen had placed in him.
“But what, what’s happened?” Kate asked again.
“Mom, You know Chris Kirkpatrick right? He’s one of the Nsync guys.”
“Yes I know the name, but what about him?”
“Well, he and I were driving around tonight looking for Kellen and when we found him in Central Park, he’d been assaulted. I think he may have also been sexually assaulted.”
“What?” Kate asked in an almost hushed whisper. There was silence on the other end for a while. Camden knew his mom and he also knew that at this point the news had sunk in and his mom was probably crying. “Is…is, I mean, is he okay?” she finally asked almost afraid of the answer.
“I don’t know Mom. We brought him back to the hotel and had the tour doctor, Dr. Roberts, look at him. The doctor said that he had been drugged. Kellen did wake up about a minute ago, but he freaked out. I think he still thought he was being harmed. The closer we got to him, the more he freaked out.” Camden was starting to wipe tears from his own eyes. “Mom, I’m scared for him. He’s never been through anything like this. None of us has. What should I do?” Camden said as his body started to rack with sobs.
“Okay Camden” Kate said trying to compose herself. “We have to be strong for Kellen. Do your best to comfort him, but go at his pace. Don’t do anything that he might perceive as threatening.”
Camden continued to listen as his mom. After she had told him what to do with Kellen, she told Nicole to call to get a guy named Rick on the phone. “Mom? Who’s Rick?” Camden asked.
“Rick is the pilot we hired last month for the new jet we bought. I’ll call you when my plane is about to land. Can you be at the airport to pick me up?”
“Mom, you don’t have,” Camden said but was cut off.
“Ridiculous, two of my babies needs me and I’m not going to just sit down here and worry. All you have to worry about, is being at JFK to pick me up. Okay Camden?” It was more of a statement than a question.
“Okay Mom. Let me know when you’re almost here.” Camden said not even bothering to argue.
“I have to go; Rick is on the other phone. Tell Kellen that Mommy loves him and she’s on her way. I love you also.”
“I love you too Mom. And I’ll tell him. Good Bye.”
“Bye Sweetie.” Kate ended the call and Camden flipped the phone closed. He walked back into the Nsync suite facing four guys. Joey, JC, Lance and Justin were all staring at him. “Sorry guys. I had to call my family and let them know what’s happened.”
“What’d they say?” Lance asked.
“Well, my mom is on her way up here.”
“She got a flight so soon?” Chris asked.
“Actually, she’s flying up in one of the family jets.” Camden said sitting down in one of the chairs. He looked around the room. His eyes stopped when he saw Justin was in the room. He glared for a moment at the young man. Justin noticed this and thought it would be best to leave the room. Camden watched as he walked back into his room.
In JC’s room, all was quiet except the weak whimpers coming from Kellen. After the door shut, JC moved over towards his boyfriend and knelt down beside him. He slowly arched his arm over Kellen’s back to comfort him, but he jumped at the feeling of someone’s arm around him. He quickly looked up, turned his head and through his tears, he could see JC, though he wasn’t sure if it was really JC, or just his imagination wishing he was with him. “Josh?” Kellen weakly called out. ”Is it really you?”
“Yes Baby, it’s really me.” JC said crying. He leaned over and placed his forehead against Kellen’s. “I love you so much. I’m here for you Kellen.”
“But I thought you were mad at me. Josh I swear I didn’t cheat on you. I love you.” Kellen cried in a pleading voice. “Josh I love you. I swear.” He sunk his head lower and rested it in JC’s lap. JC placed his hand on top of Kellen’s head and started running his hand through his hair.
“Oh Baby, I know you love me. I’m so sorry I thought that you didn’t. I love you so much and I know that you didn’t cheat on me.” JC said reassuring Kellen as he cried in JC’s lap. “I’m so sorry you had to go through what you went through tonight. It’s my fault. If I hadn’t assumed things and ran off like that, then none of this would have happened.”
“Josh.” Kellen said looking up into JC’s sapphire eyes. “It was awful. I thought maybe you had gone to the park, so I went there.” Kellen started to shake as a new round of tears spewed from his eyes. “Then, this guy came and he tackled me. He forced me to drink something and then he tried, he tried…he…h,” Kellen was crying so hard he could even continue to talk. JC just continued to comfort him and hold him.
“Just let it out Kellen.”
“Josh.” Kellen paused, “He tried to rape me, but I fought him. I didn’t let him do that to me. He grabbed my leg and pulled me back down, but I kicked him.” After Kellen finished the last statement, he sucked in a breath.
“You mean he didn’t rape you?” Josh asked looking at Kellen.
“No, but he tried to. I got away, then I stumbled as I tried to get out of the park.” Kellen finished. JC could tell that Kellen was trying to remember more but couldn’t. “I, uh, I don’t remember how I got back here.
“Camden and Chris brought you back here. They both found you unconscious in Central Park.” JC said.
“Camden was here? Does he know what Justin did to me?” Kellen asked. JC just nodded. “Is Justin alright? My brother didn’t hurt him did he?” Kellen asked as he tried to stand up. Still a little disoriented, Kellen lost his balance.
“Whoa there. First things first, we need to get you back to bed and get the doctor back up here to look at you. We can talk about Justin tomorrow.” JC said catching Kellen before he fell.
“I’m not mad at Justin for attacking me like he did. He thought I was hurting you.” Kellen said as JC walked him back to the bed. “I wish he wouldn’t have tackled me though, but I can’t blame him for wanting to protect you. Is he still mad at me?”
“Oh no, he’s not mad. He feels really bad actually. He went out to look for you also.” JC said as he helped lay Kellen back against the pillow.
“He’s not still out there is he? I don’t want him to get hurt.” Kellen said sitting back up.
“Don’t worry Kellen. He’s here. Everyone is safe and sound now.” JC said. Kellen started to get back out of bed, “Hey, what are you doing?”
“Josh, I can’t lay in the bed.” Kellen said standing up. “I feel so dirty. I need to take a shower. Every time I breath, I can smell that guy on me and I can feel his hands here.” Kellen said indicating his groin. He started to cry again. JC quickly wrapped him in a hug.
“Ok, you can take a bath. I’ll let you use my bathroom. You can borrow some boxers and a T-shirt when you get out. I’ll just wait for you in the living room.” JC said as he started walking towards the door.
“No!” Kellen yelled grabbing JC’s arm. “Please, I don’t want to be alone. Will you stay in there with me?” JC gave Kellen a questioning look. “I don’t mean you have to take a shower or bath with me, just stay in there with me so I know I’m not alone.” Kellen said wiping a tear from his eye.
“Of course I’ll stay with you. As long as you’re comfortable with it. But if at any time you start to feel uncomfortable, tell me and I’ll give you some privacy. Ok?” JC said looking into Kellen’s eyes.
“Ok.” Kellen said. “Josh, I’m sorry I’m so weak right now. I just…I’m just a little nerve racked. I love you.”
“I love you too. And you’re not weak. You’ve had a night from hell and it’s okay to be a little ‘nerve racked.” JC said as they moved towards his bathroom. Once inside, JC walked over to the tub and began filling it with hot water. When he turned around, he noticed Kellen having trouble taking his clothes of and keeping balance, so he moved to help him. After Kellen was shed of all clothing, JC helped him into the tub. “Oh, hold on. I’ll be right back” JC said. Kellen quickly looked up at him. “Don’t worry; I’m just going to go get you some clothes to put on once you get out. “I’ll be in the room.” JC got up and walked back into the room.
Kellen just looked at the water think about what had happened. He reached for the wash cloth and a bar of soap. Once he had the cloth lathered up, he started scrubbing his face. He scrubbed and scrubbed until his cheeks were bright red and hurting. Then he stood up and started scrubbing his genital area. After a few minutes, he couldn’t stand the feel of the wash cloth any longer and sank back into the tub. He rinsed the cloth out and lathered it back up and began to scrub his face again.
“Kellen? Kellen, what are you doing?” JC said walking into the bathroom. He ran over to Kellen and stopped his arm. “Kellen, you’re hurting yourself. Please don’t.” JC said in a soft voice.
“I can’t” Kellen said breaking down again. “I have to get him off of me. I just feel so dirty.”
“You’re not dirty. Kellen, you are so beautiful. Please don’t hurt yourself like this. I can’t stand to see you do this to yourself. It wasn’t your fault. It was that guy’s fault.”
Kellen just nodded and started washing other parts of his body. JC stood up and started to turn. As he did, he caught a glimpse of Kellen’s package. ‘Well, I can honestly say that I won’t be disappointed when we do take that final step’ JC thought as he walked back into the room to find Kellen a shirt. He found it and walked back into the bathroom just as Kellen was stepping out of the tub and drying off.
“Here you go Babe.” JC said as he handed his boyfriend some clothes. “I guess Housekeeping leaves extra sheets and things in the dresser. I went ahead and changed the sheets so that you will have a clean bed to sleep on.”
“Josh, I don’t want to take your bed from you.” Kellen said putting on the boxers.
“Don’t worry; I’ll sleep in the chair. I want you to be comfortable.” JC said holding Kellen up as he put the shirt on himself. JC’s hand was on Kellen’s waste as Kellen pulled the shirt down. His hand touched JC’s. They intertwined their hands and looked at each other. JC didn’t want to make Kellen uncomfortable, but when he heard Kellen moan a sigh of relief as their lips touched, he pulled Kellen closer to him.
“I love you so much Josh. Thank you for being here.” Kellen said breaking the kiss and leaning into JC.
“I love you Kellen, and you’re worth it.” JC responded pulling Kellen into him. They both swayed back and forth with JC leading as if there was music playing in the background. Kellen didn’t even know that he and JC had been swaying for thirty minutes until he looked at the clock. Slowly, JC picked Kellen up and carried him over to the bed and laid him down. He tucked Kellen into bed. “I need to go get the doctor. I’ll be right back. I’ll leave the door opened. If you need me, I’ll be in the living room.” Kellen gave JC a small worried look. “I will be right back. I promise. I won’t let anyone else hurt you, but I have to let the others know your better.” Kellen nodded and let go of JC’s arm. He walked slowly out into the living room leaving the door opened just as he promised. Kellen stayed in the room and laid in the bed thinking about what had happened between him and Justin. He wanted to talk to Justin so that they could hopefully be friends again. He reached for the phone on the nightstand and dialed Justin’s room.
Justin sat on the floor next to his bed with his head between his knees. Drops of tears pelted the carpet as he cried. ‘I can’t believe I hurt him’ Justin thought to himself. ‘If I hadn’t hurt him, then he wouldn’t have run away and got hurt.’ Justin continued to cry. He jumped suddenly when his phone began to ring. He thought about just letting it go, but curiosity got the best of him and he reached over to pick the receiver up. “Hello?” He asked into the phone trying unsuccessfully to cover the fact that he’d been crying.
“Justin?” A familiar voice said into the phone. Just knew he recognized the voice but couldn’t place it because he was upset. “Justin this is Kellen.”
“Kellen?” Justin said surprised.
“Yes Justin, it’s me. I was wondering if I could talk to you. Could you come over to JC’s room?” Kellen asked.
Justin wasn’t quite sure what to do. Was Kellen mad at him still? Did he want to make him feel guilty? The only way to find out was to go over and receive what was coming to him. “I…I guess. You want me to come over there?” Justin stuttered.
“Yes please.”
“I’ll be right there.” Justin said hanging up the phone. He got up off the floor and walked over to the mirror to wipe his eyes and make himself look more presentable. He walked over to the door and opened it. Since his room was directly across from JC’s, he didn’t have to go very far. He stopped halfway across the hall. He could hear JC talking to the guys in the suite living room. He quietly knocked on the half open door and waited for Kellen to invite him in.
“Come in Justin.” Kellen replied. Justin walked into the room and saw Kellen propped up in the bed. He looked like he’d had a shower. Justin noticed the blood stained shirt on the floor and instantly a pain of guilt washed over him.
“Hey. How are you?” Kellen asked from the bed.
“Kellen, I’m so sorry for the way I treated you earlier. I had no right to be,” Justin was cut off mid sentence by Kellen.
“Justin. I forgive you. I can’t blame you for looking out for Josh.” Kellen said looking at the young pop star.
Justin pulled a chair over close to the bed and sat down in it. “Yes, but I still had no right. I should’ve talked to you first.”
“I agree with you on that.” Kellen said. “Justin, I want you to realize something.” He looked at Justin and Justin looked back at him. “I love Josh. I would never hurt him that way. I’ve been cheated on before, I know how it feels. I would never make Josh go through that again. Please Justin. Know that.” Kellen said in an almost pleading voice.
“Kellen, I do believe you. I feel so bad about what I did to you. I’m the reason you were raped. And now I have to live with that.” Justin said as a few tears flowed down his cheek.
“Justin, what are you talking about? I wasn’t raped. I came close, but I knocked the bastard unconscious. And what’s this about you being the reason for anything? Justin I didn’t run out because I was afraid of you, I left because I realized that Josh might have been by himself in the city. I left to find him. And I was stupid by going into Central Park alone. Justin it was NOT your fault. It was that guys fault. He’s the one we should blame for what happened to me.”
“But,” Justin started to contest.
“No buts Justin. Please, you said you wanted me to forgive you. I can’t do that unless you forgive yourself.” Kellen said “Do we have a deal?” Kellen asked sticking his hand out for Justin to shake. Justin looked deep in thought then suddenly knelt by the bed and pulled Kellen into a hug.
“Deal.” Justin said. Both Justin and Kellen heard someone clearing their throat behind them. “Jace!” Justin said turning around. “I was just apologizing to Kellen.” He said as he stood.
“I know, I heard.” JC said. “Justin, Kellen is right when he said he loves me. I was stupid for even doubting it.” JC pulled Justin into a hug letting him know that things were okay. Kellen winked at Justin and lay back down.
“I think I’m going to try and get some rest now. Have a good night you two.” Justin said as he left the room.
“Camden wants to talk to you.” JC said putting the chair back in its place.
“I didn’t even know he was still here. Could you send him in? I want to thank him for finding me.” Kellen said looking at JC.
JC got up and walked out of the room. A minute later, Camden walked in. When he saw Kellen, he ran over to his little brother and wrapped him in a strong hug. A hug that let Kellen know he was safe. As Kellen returned the hug, he felt Camden’s body shaking. “Hey Big Bro., don’t cry. I’m okay.”
“Kellen, I was so worried about you.” Camden said pulling himself away from his brother. “JC told us that you weren’t raped. You don’t know how happy I was when he told us.”
“Yes, that is good, but I still have the emotional scares from what that bastard did do to me. It was so bad Camden. I tried to fight him but he was too strong. He pinned me to the ground. I tried to escape.” Kellen said crying. Camden patted him on the arm for support. “He made me drink something.”
“The tour doctor said it was ‘X’.” Camden said
“You mean he drugged me?” Kellen asked. “I got away from him. Then I just got too weak to run. I tried, but I was dizzy. It was scary. I was afraid he’d come after me if I stopped.” Kellen said continuing to cry.
“Oh Kellen, I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you from this. I’ve always been able to protect you, and when you really needed me I wasn’t there.” Camden said pulling his brother into another hug. Both brothers cried on each others shoulder for a few minutes before Camden pulled apart and wiped his eyes. “I called home.”
Kellen look at him and once it set in, he started to look panicked. “You told Mom and Dad?”
“They had to know Kellen. I couldn’t keep this from them. When you woke up, it scared me. I didn’t know what to do or how to help you. I talked to Mom. She helped me.”
“I guess its okay that you told them. They did need to know.”
“Yeah, I have to go pick up Mom from the airport soon. I talked to her about an hour and a half ago. I assume she’s about half way here by now.” Camden said sitting in the chair.
“You mean she’s on her way here?” Kellen asked in a whiny voice. “Once she’s here, I won’t have a moments rest and Josh and I, wait” Kellen said stopping everything. “You didn’t tell her about Josh and I did you?” He asked panicking again.
“Don’t worry, Bro. I didn’t tell her. You should be the one who decides who and when to tell that secret to. It isn’t my place. But you do know that it will be hard to keep that from her, don’t you?” Camden said.
“Tell me about it. I can’t keep anything from her.”
“Oh, and you might want to rethink where you’ll be going after the tour is over.” Camden said. Kellen looked at him.
“Why?”
“Because I think she’ll want you going home with her.” Camden replied referring to their mother.
“But, I’m not leaving the tour early. I have to finish it.” Kellen said.
“No, I don’t mean she’ll make you leave early, she won’t react well to your wanting to buy a house in Florida.”
“Oh, well, maybe I’ll go home with her for a few days.” Kellen said as JC entered the room. They look at each other and Camden stood to leave.
“I need to call my wife.” Camden said. “She’ll be worrying about me. And, I need to leave in a few minutes. I’m going to pick Chelsea up then head to the airport to get Mom. I’ll be back soon. If you need anything, call your cell phone. And I mean ‘anything’.” Camden said walking out of the room. JC walked over to the bed and sat down next to Kellen.
“The doctor is out in the living room. He wanted to see you when you woke up.” JC said running the back of his hand along Kellen’s cheek. Kellen grabbed it and held it on his cheek. “Ibrahim and Mel are out there also. They have to make a report and Melinda will have to prepare a public statement if it becomes necessary.” JC finished. Kellen looked at him wide eyed but JC soothed him with a kiss.
Kellen broke the kiss after a few seconds, “You can send him in. And if the guys want to come in, they can also. I don’t want to tell this story any more then I have to. Besides, I’m sure they are worried about me. They need to know that I’m not still freaking out.”
“Okay Babe. I’ll go get them.” JC left the room after giving Kellen a reassuring hug. When everyone was back in the room, Ibrahim and Melinda produced papers to write on. Kellen began telling them what had happened. Leaving out the part about JC and Justin thinking that he’d cheated on Kellen. However, both sets of eyes got wide when they found out that Kellen and JC were gay and dating.
“Do I need to prepare a public statement for that also?” Mel asked looking at Kellen, JC and the other guys.
“NO!” Both Kellen and JC replied at the same time. “We don’t want it public yet.” Kellen said as he and JC held each others hand.
“Guys, I don’t want to sound like the villain, but you do know that we can’t have public displays of affection outside of the camp right?” Ibrahim asked. “You two are going to have to avoid arousing suspicion.”
“We know, but we also know that if our relationship is to become permanent, then it will be made public. But neither one of us wants to deal with the press yet.” JC said as Kellen nodded in agreement. After that, Kellen finished telling what had happened to him. Several times during the embarrassing parts, Kellen broke down in tears. JC was there to hold him every time. After Kellen finished, the doctor began to look him over and record any bruises that the attacker had left. He also took a sample of Kellen’s blood to have analyzed for traces of ecstasy. He took another sample to have tested for HIV or any other viruses. JC also had to give a blood sample. The guys tried their best to keep his mind off the needle. Kellen had to finally distract him by kissing him continuously. After the doctor left with Mel and Ibrahim in tow, the guys filtered out one bye one. Each one told Kellen that they had his back and wished him well before leaving. Before walking out of the room, Lance promised to treat Kellen to a day of shopping once the tour was over. Kellen laid back on the pillow and began yawning profusely.
“You should get some rest. You’ve had a hard day.” JC said.
“I think I’ll take you up on that offer. I am getting really tired. What time is it?” Kellen asked.
“It’s almost 2:00 A.M. Oh shit!” JC said suddenly. “We have to be at sound check at 10:00. I wish we could cancel it, but we had to cancel one already and the concert is tonight.” JC said.
“Don’t worry Babe. I’ll be able to make it…I hope.” Kellen said yawning again.
“Get some rest. Camden said your mom would be here shortly. I’m sure she’ll want to see you and make sure you’re okay when she gets here.” JC said looking down. “If you want, I’ll make myself scarce while she’s here so you won’t find out about us.”
“No, I want you here with me. We can tell her that we’re really good friends. If you show her the songs we’ve work on, she’ll believe it. I do want to tell her, but I want to do it when my dad is with her. I talked to him yesterday morning. He mentioned something about having to check on one of the stores in Seattle. He should be back home by the time the tour is over.” Kellen said yawning again.
“Go to sleep.” JC said kissing Kellen. He got up off the bed and sat down in the chair next to the bed. He laid a blanket over his body and rested his head on the arm of the chair. He watched as Kellen slowly gave into sleep and then gave into it himself. Outside the room, the guys had already said goodnight to each other and went to their own rooms to go to bed.
Camden and his wife Chelsea walked to the gate closest to the one the Bradley jet would be flying to. Chelsea was a beautiful lady to say the least. Her hair was long, blond, and permed. Her somewhat tall stature made her look elegant, to spite the fact that it was the middle of the night and she was wearing Jeans and a T-shirt that seemed to make her chest bulge. Both she and Camden watched out the window as the jet taxied to the gate. They stood watching as Mrs. Bradley stepped off the plane. The night hadn’t changed her normal style. She was wearing a women’s suit with matching navy blue dress shoes. Her blond hair blew back as the wind hit her face. Camden could instantly tell that she had been crying. She had her carry on bag in her hand as she reached the door. Camden and Chelsea walked over to the door. They patiently waited for Kate to walk up the stairs and through the gate door. When the door opened, greetings were given and hugs were exchanged.
“How is he?” Kate asked as they made their way to the baggage claim.
“He’s better. We managed to get him calmed down. He took a bath. He said he felt dirty and had to get the scent of that guy off of him.” Camden said. He looked at his mom and noticed that she’d started crying. “But there is some good news.” Kate looked up at him. “Kellen said the guy didn’t rape him. He just drugged him and fondled him a little. He said that he got away from the guy before it could go any further.”
“This guy, who ever he is, still raped Kellen.” Kate said. Camden looked at her confused. “He held Kellen down and forced him to do something that he didn’t want to do. Even if Kellen did get away before it got worse. It is still sexual assault.” Kate pointed to her bag and Camden picked it up. “How is he physically speaking?” she asked as they walked towards the front entrance.
“He’s drained.” Camden said. His mom just nodded. The three walked through the parking garage to Chelsea’s white Isuzu Rodeo. They got in and Camden drove out of the airport parking garage making their way towards the hotel to drop Kate off.
JC woke up by the sound of someone entering his room. He looked up and saw a woman with blond hair walking in. He thought she had a very stern yet loving look about her. She looked like a professional business women with the navy blue suit on. He sat up as she walked over to the chair and looked at him.
“Hello, I’m Kellen’s mom Kate.” She said shaking JC’s hand. She gave him a smile.
“I’m JC.” He said looking at her.
“Is that short for something?” She asked.
“Yeah, it’s my initials. My name is Joshua Scott Chasez.”
“It’s very nice to meet you Joshua.” She said looking at him. “Thank you for looking after my son.” She said looking over at Kellen’s sleeping form in the bed. JC looked over at Kellen and smiled. Kellen looked peaceful. Almost like an angel.
“It was no problem Mrs. Bradley. He and I have become good friends since he joined the tour.” JC said.
Kate put her arm on Kellen’s shoulder and gently shook him. “Kellen, Sweet Heart, its Mom. Wake up Honey.”
“Mom?” Kellen said sitting up rubbing his eyes trying to get them to stay open. Kate had turned the light on when she walked in. When Kellen saw his mom, he fully woke. He pulled her into a hug and started crying again. She just held him as she sat down on the bed. She rocked him back and forth as he cried.
“Just let it out Kellen. I’m here now.”
JC watched and wished that he was the one holding Kellen. It hurt him to see his boyfriend crying. After a few minutes, Kellen looked back up at his mom. His face looked drained again.
“Here Sweetie, lay back down. I just wanted to check on you. Get some rest. I’ll come back later to check up on you. I’m going to go see if I can get a room. Get some rest.” Kate said laying Kellen back on the bed. He fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. Kate turned to walk back into the living room. JC got up out of the chair and followed her. He stopped at Kellen’s jeans and pulled something out of the pocket.
