After being inspired by Nifty stories (and if you don't already, please support the site!), I decided to try writing my own. This is purely a work of fiction that will grow, change and develop along with the author's personal growth, change and development. Any similarities to actual people or places - other than the ones specifically mentioned - are purely coincidental.

The story will contain a gay relationship and sex between consenting gay teens, both High School Seniors. As you'll soon discover, that's the true focus of the story (the High School part that is), not any sports action.

Happy Birthday to Me

Chapter 1

Cory existed in that pleasant gray area between sleep and wakefulness. He was also having the strangest dream he could remember, at least recently. A giant bell was kissing and licking him.

Suddenly, Cory was awake.

"UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" he more moaned than screamed.

As Cory's striking true gray eyes snapped open he quickly became aware of the alarm going off in the otherwise empty house flashing its preset 5:30AM wakeup time. He was in his usual sleeping position, arm over the sheets lying on his side at the edge of the bed staring toward his open bedroom door.

His ever present puppy and devoted family member, Jaxson, was also enthusiastically, and very wetly, licking his face. Reaching out Cory laughed as he scratched the ears of his pure bred silver-gray four year old Weimaraner.

"Ya I love you too, Jaxson."

Jaxson shook his head up and down as if telling his master that it was time to get up and start his - Jaxson's that is - favorite part of the day. Cory turned off his alarm then stepped out of bed naked as Jaxson backed up and ran over to his own bed... grabbing his leash and loping over to Cory's desk where he sat down and waited.

Yawning, Cory opened his dresser and took out running shorts and a tee. Pulling the shorts up the long legs of his lean, athletic 6'3" frame, Cory tugged on his tee and then padded barefoot into his closet to grab a pair of Nike Flyknit's. Sliding the shoes on his feet, Cory laced them up just as Jaxson started to whimper.

"Ok Jaxson, I'm almost ready" Cory smiled at his eager running mate.

Standing up he walked over to his desk and picked up his Basis B1 strapping it on as he turned to his dog. As Cory reached down Jaxson opened his mouth and dropped his leash into Cory's hand. Snapping it on Jaxson's collar, the dog looked his master over deciding they were finally ready as he turned and led the way out of Cory's bedroom and down the long semi-circular stairway to the first floor.

As the two buddies half ran across the long white marble floor of the entry way, Jaxson was straining at the leash. He waited for Cory to open the front door then he went outside and immediately sat down. Looking at his master, Jaxson watched as Cory did 10 minutes of stretching - his yellow eyes focused on every move as he waited patiently for the signal.

"On your mark, get set, GO!" Cory yelled as he scooped up Jaxson's leash and the two of them were off.

Running down the cobbled parking circle and then on to the sidewalk of the tree lined neighborhood, Jaxson was happy. He loved nothing better than his morning run with Cory. Staying barely a half body length ahead of his master, Jaxson's eyes watched everything and his scent senses were on high alert. Jaxson had been trained not just as the disciplined dog he was, but also as a military grade guard dog. And, nothing would harm his master while he was around.

Jaxson felt a tug on his leash as Cory slowed his usual pace. Up ahead a car pulling out of a driveway stopped for a minute before turning on to the street, the occupant waving at the handsome teen coming toward her down the sidewalk.

"Morning Mrs. Anderson!" Cory waved as he and Jaxson ran behind the Mercedes and increased running speed back to their normal pace.

Smiling Mrs. Anderson watched the teen move safely behind her car before turning right and heading in the opposite direction from Cory and Jaxson - the pair were a popular fixture in the neighborhood.

In the tree-dappled morning sunlight, Cory and Jaxson had an easy run. It was the same six days a week, three miles out then across the street and three back.

Slowing to a cool down pace in front of his house, Cory walked Jaxson several times around the sparkling fountain in the center of the parking circle before punching in the lock code on the front door's digital panel. Unsnapping Jaxson's leash, Cory laid it over his shoulder to drop off later next to Jaxson's bed and followed his high- energy puppy into the kitchen.

Picking out a large apple from the bowl on the counter, Cory took a bite and then put it back down. Smiling as Jaxson again sat waiting patiently for him, Cory pulled open the keep fresh bin where Jaxson's food was kept and scooped out breakfast. He then emptied out and refilled Jaxson's water bowl as his dog happily crunched.

Giving Jaxson a few pats, Cory grabbed his apple and walked out of the kitchen munching it along the way as he headed back upstairs to get ready for school.

Stripping off his sweaty running clothes, Cory dropped them down the laundry chute and put his shoes back in their cubby. Walking out of the closet, Cory took off his tracker leaving it on his desk then turned around and went into the bathroom hitting the top button on the control keypad. Immediately lights, shower and exhaust system came on to exactly the levels and temperature he liked.

Lifting the toilet lid for a morning piss, Cory finished his business then stepped into the shower. He had this routine down solid. Rubbing shampoo through his football season buzzed hair he was soaped up, rinsed, soaped up again, out of the shower and dried off in just ten minutes. Shaving took another three.

Tossing a plain Gap pocket tee, AE performance trunks and ankle socks out of his dresser and on his bed, Cory walked back into his closet picking up a pair of Nike Free Trainer's and AE jeans.

He was dressed and back in the bathroom rubbing some gel through his sandy blonde short spiky hair as Jaxson came running in after eating breakfast and rehydrating himself from his water bowl.

"How do I look for first day of school?"

Staring up Jaxson seemed to assess Cory as the teen looked curious down at his puppy. At 6'3" and 192#, 17 year old Cory Radke had a medium tanned lean athletic muscled body honed by regular runs and three day a week visits from his trainer. Except for having more shoes than four other guys combined, Cory had a reputation at school for not dressing to impress - he was into comfortable and casual. Yes, he had a few things from A&F, Urban Outfitters and Billabong, but most of his clothes came from the more modest end of the retail market.

Jaxson gazed up and gave his master a quick woof of approval as he followed Cory out of the bathroom and back to the bedroom. Sliding his tablet into his school pack along with the two bottles of juice and one bottle of water he'd picked up in the kitchen, Cory headed back downstairs with Jaxson trotting loyally at his side.

"Have a great day Jaxson!" Cory said scratching the ears of his suddenly sad faced puppy then opened the door to the garage and hit the opener button.

Cory knew that Jaxson was disappointed not to be going with him. For the last month, the Weimaraner had been with his master every day as Cory had gone through ahead of school start football camp - two weeks of one-a-days then two weeks of two-a-days. It was the schedule Jaxson had shared with Cory since he was a puppy running and stumbling up and down the sideline following Cory through practice. Jaxson was a constant fixture on the sidelines during summer practice and Friday night games, and had become the team's unofficial mascot. His collar was in team jersey colors and had the number nine stitched into the webbing, one up from Cory's #8.

As the teen opened the door to his phantom black 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8, he tossed his pack on the passenger seat and pulled on the seat belt as he pressed the car's start button. This wasn't the car that Cory would have picked because he considered it too flashy, but it had been his Dad's birthday present last year and Cory was way too well-mannered to turn it down. With his 18th birthday little more than a month away, Cory started to wonder what over-the-top gift his Dad would get him this year but instead of dwelling shook his head and pulled out of the garage for the uncomplicated drive to school.

Turning into the senior's parking lot at Branson High School, Cory took the first space he saw. Grabbing his pack he threw it over his right shoulder and used the key fob to lock his car and set the alarm. Even in Portland, Oregon, the beginning of September weather was still warm enough not to need a jacket and Cory was happy as he thought about the first day of classes.

Before he'd gone to bed last night, Cory had downloaded to his tablet both his class schedule and any course outlines posted online by his teachers. His books for first semester were already loaded into his locker. Cory had always been a low-maintenance student. While others eagerly moved up the hierarchy of lockers, Cory was still using the locker he'd been assigned as a freshman. It was the way he wanted it and the school administration didn't really care. After all, it was one less item to argue over with a fractious student wanting to be in "just" the right spot.

The happy feeling faded a little as Cory saw his two best friends waiting for him on the sidewalk. Trent and Troy Riley were identical 17 year old 6' 170# brown haired, ice-blue eyed twins and the wide receivers on the Branson Chargers varsity football team. They were also the biggest practical jokers in school.

"Guys it's the first day of school," Cory said with concern as he looked from beaming face to beaming face. "You couldn't have pulled something already."

"Trust us QB" Trent and Troy chimed back in unison. The smiles never left their faces as they grabbed Cory's arms and changed his direction from entering school through the east side and guided him instead to the soaring 3-story lobby of the recently renovated public high school.

Cory's eyes widened as he walked with the two other teens through the main entry doors, a path somewhat magically opening for the three of them through a milling crowd of students.

It was something from Disney's High School Musical, only to Cory's mind much, much, much worse. There he was in full-color glory on a 2-story high banner that dominated an entire wall of the lobby. In a letter jacket with a football cupped in his hand and laying across his forearm, Cory was pictured smiling broadly with the rest of the varsity team at least 50% smaller than he was arrayed on both sides.

As a couple hundred of his fellow students clapped and chanted "CHARGERS, CHARGERS, CHARGERS", Cory turned to Trent and Troy with an almost begging look on his face.

"Dudes you cannot leave that thing up there."

"QB the people LOOOOVE it" Trent and Troy yelled back in that annoying simultaneous way of speaking they had when one of their well thought out yet nefarious plans came off perfectly.

"Besides" Trent said on his own "we just started the ball rolling. This is actually a project of the 'official' Branson High School Spirit Committee. So you're stuck QB."

"GUYSSSSSSSSSS" Cory pleaded as he followed the twins through the chanting crowd and into hallway beyond.

"Coach is gonna kill me. He's not even on that thing."

"Yah he is" Troy threw back "he's the little guy on the right side about to get knocked off the banner by Jaxson's wagging tail." Trent looked at his twin and together they laughed raucously.

"Look Cory, we've decided to be your personal public relations team for senior year," Troy continued. "You've led us for two winning seasons and to one state Championship. And every year gave the team your all and the credit to everyone but yourself. Well, the team met and we decided that this year YOU get to be the STAR!"

Patting Cory on his shoulders the smiles super glued on their faces, Troy and Trent strode like the popular pair they were down the hallway toward their first period classes.

Sighing yet resigned to the intervention of his well-meaning best friends, Cory turned around and headed to his own first period class. The twins had no idea that this was exactly the kind of attention he'd fought so hard to escape.

Author's Notes:

Ya, I know. End of the first chapter and no sex. It's annoying. But don't worry the good stuff is coming! And coming... and coming!

When I envisioned this story, it was as a series of reveals. Right now there are at least three mysteries that readers are probably wondering about - and I'm not talking the size Cory's cock (hey, stop imagining before I have the chance to write it! lol). There are a few more mysteries coming and a bunch more reveals.

So look forward to the next chapter, and more chapters beyond.

Like I said, positive comments are welcome and appreciated. You may email me at Cory.08@outlook.com
