l here is part 4 of hero in love. I just realized I forgot the normal disclaimers and whatever. so you know the drill. if your not supopsed to be here, don't be.

Chapter 4

Kyle glared at the clock, wishing it would move faster. it was his last class, and he wanted to get out so he could pick up jason and go home. he had jason on his mind all day. what to do over the weekend, hoping the gorgeous boy would like him.

what if he didn't? what if he found new friends and decided that Kyle was stupid? or annoying? these thoughts and more had been plaguing Kyle for the last half of the day. maybe jason thought he was just pushy, and agreed because he had nothing better to do.

or maybe Jason really did like him, and they would be friends. that was the other thing on Kyle's mind. Jason was a gorgeous boy, and he wanted him, as a friend, as a boyfriend as a lover. he would probably have to settle for friend. But still a slim hope remained that jason would be gay, and that Kyle might finally find a boyfriend. of course that thought was in his head everytime he saw a good looking boy.

Jason sat in his last period trying to concentrate but failing miserably. He was waiting to see his perfect Kyle again. They were going to hang out at his house after school. Jason was also excited because Josh and steven couldn't make it, they both already had plans. Jason wanted to make more friends, but at this point he was just getting used to Kyle.

Finally the bell rang and jason scooped up his books and dropped them in his backpack, which was now starting to strain underneath the amount of stuff he had.

Jason stood at the door of his class, waiting for Kyle to show up. a small part of him was afraid that Kyle wasn't going to come, or that he would forget, or maybe even get distracted by some girl. Jason gripped his wrist, trying to fight down the sense of nervous apprehension. It was strange how the urge to cut came on him, but it was also familiar too. Safe. His doctor talked about habits and how people went back to familiar habits when they were stressed.

Suddenly out of the bustle of the hallway a high pitched voice addressed him. "Hi! I'm Michelle." She said giggly. huh? who was this? and why was she giggling at him.

"hi." Jason said, somewhat lamely.

"so your knew around here huh?" She said obviously. duh. what was her first clue?

"yeah." He said, brushing hair out of his face.

"You'd look much better if you cut your hair." the girl said helpfully. "a make over would do wonders for you. you are really cute" at this point jason stopped listening. He liked his hair, and he wasn't going to change it.

Where the crap are you kyle? he thought to himself.

Kyle was so engrossed in his thoughts that it took the sounds of the other students leaving to make him realize that class was out. YES!! he thought, blitzing out the door. he hurried through the hall- ways to his locker where he dropped off his un-needed books, and then almost ran to Jasons last class.

Kyle saw Jason standing there, looking uncomfortable as one of the local sluts was talking to him. stupid Michelle. Kyle was not going to lose a friend to some stupid slut.

"oh hi Kyle." jason said, brushing the hair out of his eyes. the slender blonde haired girl looked at him as if he had the worst timing ever.

"this is the Kyle your talking about?" she asked, turning back to jason.

"yeah. why?" Jason asked curiously. Kyle seemed cool. unless there was something wierd he didn't know.

"He's just.. him. plain." she said, as if Kyle wasn't standing there. well that was mean. Jason liked Kyle, he was the only boy who'd really gone out of his way to say hi.

"whatever. I gotta go." he said, feeling angry that she would insult his new friend.

Kyle walked in the door, his nerves on fire. Jason had been friendly on the way home, but he was still sort of quiet. what if he didnt' really like Kyle? what if he was just doing this because it was the only option he had? what if he was angry that he'd interrupted his talk with michelle?

but Jason seemed ok.. so maybe Kyle was just being paranoid. And Jason seemed kind of shy, so unless someone else tried to make friends with him, Kyle didn't see him getting any more friends any time soon.

"you have a nice home." Jason said quietly as he followed Kyle in the door.

"why thank you young man." Kyle's mother said as she walked in the front room. "I'm Kyle's mother. you can call me mom, or Karen." she said sweetly.

"Jason, this is my mom, Mom, this is jason." he introduced, knowing she would be annoying if he didn't.

"Why hello Jason." she replied, wiping her hands on her apron.

"Hi." Jason said quietly.

"I like him, he's not as loud as your other friends." his Mom said approvingly. Kyle scratched his head in embarrasment as she continued,"now you boys want some cookies?"she asked.

"Sure." Kyle replied, leading Jason into the kitchen and the snack bar.

"nice house." jason replied after Kyle's mom had left them to eat.

"thanks." Kyle said back. it was strange, because before they were talking rather normally, but now he felt all awkward and shy. was it because they were alone?

"so." Jason said while dipping a cookie in his milk.

"so." Kyle said back, still feeling awkward. why did he even invite this hot sexy boy over? what was he thinking?

"so whats up with this air show? you were tlaking about it.." jason asked, trying to find something to say.

"oh its really cool. like I mentioned the show is free, but they make money with like the vendors and food and stuff."Kyle explained. maybe now he could get past being awkward.

"But they have like the jets fly in syncronized flights, and one year they had a stealth bomber on display." Kyle said.

"Wow. that must have been cool." Jason sighed. " We didn't have an air force base near my old home."

"Oh. So what did you do for fun?" Kyle asked curiously.

"Like I said. I like video games.. comics.. anime. that stuff."

"That's cool. I have a machine if you wanna go play. I can dig up my champions of norath if you want."

"Really?" Jason said, sounding more interested. this was good, maybe Kyle could pull this off after all, and not sound like a complete moron.

"Yeah. we can start new characters, and go from there," Kyle had several characters he'd worked up, but it was fun to start new saved games with new friends, "but no barbarian. hes like way broken. he levels up faster because of his swinging damage."

"Oh. What else is there?" Jason asked as they went up to Kyle's room. normally Kyle would be nervous from having a hot boy in his room, but right now he was focused on the game they were going to play.

"Well if you've played everquest, you can be like a wizard, cleric, ranger, and dark knight. we can go for the same things.. or we can do different stuff." Kyle explained.

"I will be a wizard, so you will have to cover me." Jason suggested. Kyle shrugged to himself. He could do that. Clerics could do some good stuff too.

"well I've never played a cleric so I guess I will do that." **********

the boys played a long time and Jason had fun. he was really enjoying his new friend Kyle, and they were laughing like old friends by the time dinner had rolled around.

"Kyle.. is your friend staying for dinner?" Kyle's mom called up to him.

"can you stay?" Kyle asked Jason. it was nice to hear that he wanted jason to stay, but he couldn't.

"No. I have to get home. maybe another night. and I will ask about the air show tommorrow. can I call you?" jason asked.

"sure. heres my number." Kyle eagerly grabbed some paper and proceeded to write his number down.

"do you know yours yet?" Kyle asked, handing the paper to his friend.

"Not yet. But I will call you tonight and tell you." Jason said, glad Kyle really seemed to like him. maybe it wouldn't be so bad around here after all. and he hadn't felt like cutting the whole afternoon. "But I guess I should be leaving now. so I will call you then?"

"YES! We're just having dinner here, so I will be around." Kyle said energetically.

"I guess I should go then." Jason said, walking down the front stairs.

"let me walk you to the corner at least." Kyle said, then blushed as he realized what he said.

"sure." Jason replied, wondering why he was feeling so giddy inside. Kyle blushing sure looked cute. why was he thinking that? he'd have to think about it later. he'd never thought anything like that before. had he?

They walked down the sidewalk, suddenly at a loss for things to say. Jason didn't know how exactly to deal with his new feelings for Kyle.

"you know I should be getting back now," Kyle announced, but he sounded as if he wanted to stay.

"yeah. I'll call you as soon as I can." Jason replied. the two boys just stood then, looking at each other and giggling.

"well cya." Kyle said suddenly, and turned around walking away.

"bye." Jason said quietly to his back.

once Kyle was sure Jason was out of sight he ran home, using just a little bit of his new found power to increase his speed. the sooner he got home and they had dinner the sooner he could talk to Jason again.

the fact that jason would call when he would call didn't enter his mind; he just figured that eating would help the process. so Kyle stormed in the house and began setting the table.

"My what's come over you?" his mother asked, as she bustled around the kitchen. His mother maybe a little enept at most things, but she was a wiz in the kitchen.

"I don't know." Kyle shrugged his shoulders. "I Just felt like helping. I'm hungry."

"Well whatever the reason, thank you. so what's this new boy like?" his mother asked, as she dipped a spoon into the meat she was cooking. "needs something.." she said to herself, tasting the food.

"kinda quiet, but I guess I would be too if I was new." Kyle replied. "he's big into comics, video games. that kind of thing. He's really into the whole thing on the tv.." Kyle nodded at the continuing coverage of his saving the space craft.

"ooh, I wanna hear this." his mother said, turning up the kitchen TV. why they had a tv on the kitchen counter Kyle didn't know but it was nice for snack time. that was probably the reason.

The tv went on to do a follow up on the astronauts and there families. the interviewer was at the home of one of the families of the astronauts that were on the shuttle.

the camera zoomed in on the wife. "I just want to say that I am so grateful to whoever or whatever saved the shuttle." Kyle felt a surge of happiness as he watched her hug her children.

"So you agree with the current internet rumors of this being a real person?" the news lady asked.

"I don't know. I've seen the footage." she said, wiping her tears with her eyes. the children sat next to her, leaning into her side.

Suddenly Kyle wanted to cry, wanted to say your welcome, but he couldn't. He turned away from the TV and continued setting the table. His mother however, had no such qualms and had tears in her eyes.

"Oh that's so nice. I hope whoever saved the shuttle is watching this." She sniffed. Kyle rolled his eyes. He wasn't sure about his mother. why would she be broken up?

"So you think it's a person then?" Kyle asked, finished with the table.

"well it looked like it from that computer video." his mother said. "they aired it earlier today." she continued her kitchen work, filling up a pan of grease and heating it up. navajo tacos!! kyle loved those.

"Yum! I can like cut some onions." Kyle offered, the idea of food suddenly getting to him. he didn't like being so hungry all the time. it just snuck up on him. come to think of it, it had happened about the same time he'd foudn taht cave. maybe that had something to do with it.

"well whatever came over you, I'm glad." she handed him some onions and a knife and he proceeded to cut them, and rather fast too. soon he was done in record time.

His mother just looked at his pile of onions, then handed him the tomatoes. "where'd you get so fast?" she ask. Kyle shrugged. "well whatever it is, I think I like it." she decided, as she began to drop dough in the now hot grease.

"Smells good." Kyle said, as he chopped up the tomatoes just as quickly.

Dinner was good, and Kyle rubbed his stomach appreciatively as he sat at his computer. Maybe now he wouldn't be hungry at least til 8ish.

Kyle began to cruise around the news sites his interest peaking at this strange request to the entity that saved the shuttle. finally he decided to post his own reply.

Kyelrogue says: what if its a trap from the goverment? I've read comics and stuff. maybe this entity thinks its a trap if he replies."

Kyle continued surfing and came back later to find that his comment had genrated a strange thread about the gender of the hero, if in fact it was a person, and which took the thread back to the debate of if the vid cam footage had been real or not.

stupid retards, Kyle thought, crusing the news sites for any super hero stuff he could do. maybe that would take his mind off of waiting for jason to call. what was taking so long?

then all thoughts of jason vanished as he noticed some big news break. apparently some power plant on the east coast had system failures and everybody was being evacuated. shit. he thought, bringing up the map.

point le preau? must be french he thought, expanding the google map link. great. how the crap was he going to get there? and what could he do about it? something on the article said they were establishing some sort road blocks at a certain distance. what the crap? Kyle had seen movies and anime and stuff. if the plant was going to actually go up.. it would be way to big to get anybody out in time right?

Kyle zipped from the computer room and grabbed the families travel atlas. that would help.

Shit. G otta go change he thought, grabbing his suit and mask, changing quickly. "bye mom I'm going to go skateboard some." he said, ignoring her protest of something was on the news. he knew what it was, and he needed to go help. he just hoped that he would be in time.

well thats my next chapter. hope you liked it. Sorry its been awhile since I updated. tell me what you think of jason.
