First of all, thanks again to all the feed back and name input. it really does make me happy. thanks to a certain someone who told me I had errors. (that was sarcasm). I know Im not the best at typing, it's just that I get impatient and want to post faster.

Chapter 8.

Kyle zoomed over the ocean, flying back as fast as he could. He should have stayed, should have remembered that there were always secondary quakes, or at least some of the time. why hadn't he done that?

Cuz he wasn't really good at this. So now he was flying back to the island area, as fast as possible, hoping he could stop the wave, or help or something.

But what would he do when he got there? how does a super hero stop a large wave? a VERY large wave. Could he some how make a counter- wave? would that even work? He thuoght, flying faster than he'd ever flown before.

Kyle zipped down into the water watching as the water waked out behind him. pretty big. but he needed one BIg wave.. not two waves. maybe if he like flew in a curve, he thought. He curved along the ocean surface, holding his arms out, trying to catch enough water to make a larger wave.

Good, but not enough. Maybe it was like dragging his hands in the water. Or was HE the hand? was that it? He flew faster, skimming the water's surface as he put his arms in front of him, hands open, trying to break the water as much as possible. not good enough.

Angry, he blasted the water, and was surprised to see a very large wall of water come rushing upward. hmm. that would work too. Happy, Kyle continued his flight, hoping he could find the islands before the wave could arrive.

Jason watched online as live feed came from island news cams about the hurried retreat to higher ground. And off in the distance, the camera's could see a the horizon moving as it approached. Jason felt his heart go out to those people, who'd already suffered enough damage and loss.

"Honey. are you ok up there?" his mother called up the stairs.

"Yes mom. Im watching news on msn. theres another tidal wave, and they have footage." he said.

"Oh dear. I'll turn on the tv down here." she said. "Shannon, turn on the tv. theres another thing on the tidal wave." she called, her voice more quiet as she moved away.

Jason turned back to the screen. what he saw next made him speechless.

Kyle put both hands together and blasted the water, sending it roaring up against the oncoming waves. he moved his hands, the beam of energy moving with him, sending bubbling water upwards into a wave. A big wave which rushed outward to meet the oncoming wave that would have spelled certain doom. The two waves clashed, and the onlookers could have sworn they heard the noise as they met.

Kyle didnt' stop though. He flew as fast as he could, his beam still shooting from his hands. He continued parallel with the wave, figuring if he followed it he'd get to the next islands in time.

Jason sat with unbelief sitting in his heart. out of nowhere that.. boy came and.. he just stopped the wave. He stopped it!! Jason jumped up and cheered, raising his arms in the air. then felt stupid when he realized what he'd done, then felt better when he realized no one had seen him.

Then Jason realized he'd been holding his breath, so he released it, huffing and puffing, as he sprawled out on his bed. Wow, a real super hero, again, and this time he'd stopped the wave. He supposed that he couldn't be everywhere.. or always on time, but this time it was so COOL, the way he'd just canceled out that wave.

Jason couldn't wait any longer. He had to call Kyle and find out what he thought of it. he ran downstairs dialed Kyle's number, then began to pace as it rang. Jason hoped he'd be done with whatever it was that had been so important.

"Did you see the news honey?" his mom asked.

"Course he did." his aunt answered for him, as he paced. meanwhile the news was showing camera footage of the boy's fly by as he stopped the tidal wave.

"And many thanks we owe again to this super hero." the news lady was saying.

"Hello?" it took Jason a moment to realize he was waiting on the phone.

"Oh yeah. Is Kyle home? he just left a bit ago." Jason asked.

"oh just in time. he just walked in." Jason heard Kyle's mom yelling for Kyle who quickly answered.

'I got it mom!!" Kyle yelled into the phone.

"oh good." Jason heard the phone click, and knew she was gone.

"You just missed it again!!" Jason said excitedly.Kyle had been out skating.. or he had something he just HAD to do.

"What? did that boy do something again?" he asked.

"Yeah. He stopped that tidal wave. It was huge!! and he just like shot energy from his hands and stopped it!!" Jason said, so excited he couldn't quite think straight. it didn't matter though, there WERE superheros now. Or at least A super hero.

"let me log on." Kyle said, and Jason could here him working in the background. This was so AWESOME, to see that happen, right there on live camera!! an actual energy beam!!

Kyle turned to the living room tv and watched the replay with his mother and aunt. "oh dear!" his mother said, as she watched the fly by of that boy, shooting energy out of his hands.

"What??" Jason said, wondering what her problem was.

"What if that wave hadn't been stopped?" she said, and Jason sighed. it HAD been stopped, and that was one more thing to add to this boy's record.

"But it was. the boy was there this time." Jason argued. He knew this kid couldn't be everywhere, but he could always try and help.

"Why the boy?" His Aunt suddenly asked. "doesn't he have a name yet?"

"I don't know. because the news is stupid." Jason replied. "So did you see it??" Jason asked, turning his attention back to Kyle.

"Yeah." Kyle said, sounding awed.

"yeah. it was so awesome." Jason agreed.

"so did you get that thing done?" Jason asked, wondering if Kyle could come over.

"Sure, I'm done, but we have dinner now so... can I call you later?" Kyle said, now sounding down.

"Ok. so I guess i'll say good bye." Jason said.

"Bye." Kyle replied, then hung up.

Kyle didn't know what to think as he laid on his bed. Jason sure was impressed by his alter ego. and then there was the fan sites. And coming up with a name. So much to think about, or rather stuff just going through his head. Why hadn't he expected so much fan base stuff? he'd seen how fans reacted to the new star wars film, and that sort of thing. So why hadn't he expected this? Like Jason said, he was a REAL superhero, not fake, not some stupid idea, not some fantasy movie world thing, he was real.

And now suddenly it was sinking in to Kyle that HE was that person. he HAD super powers. Up until now it had been fun, and it still would be, but suddenly he was realizing just how much influence he had, or could have, if he wanted to use it. use it for what? Kyle didn't want to use it for anything. He just wanted to help. It was fun, and it felt good.

Kyle rolled over, and promptly squashed his cat who he hadn't noticed.

"Oh sorry kitty," he squeaked, using his special voice he saved for his cat.

"Meow." the cat said back, as it re-settled on his bed. Kyle ran a hand randomly over it's head, as he stretched his lithe body. It was just weird how everything suddenly seemed so big. But yet there was this awesome feeling of satisfaction deep down in his chest, just knowing that HE was the big thing everyone was talking about. It felt good, being the only person to know the secret.

And yet, at the same time, he wanted to be liked for Kyle. He was glad that Jason liked his alter ego, but he wanted Jason to like him as Kyle.

And yet, at the same time, he wanted to be liked for Kyle. He was glad that Jason liked his alter ego, but he wanted Jason to like him as Kyle. Assuming that Jason even liked him like that.

Could Kyle compete with himself? Maybe. But he was seen all over the TV. which reminded him, what the fuck was up with that old guy? why was he all religious? Kyle was pretty sure he wasn't some sign that the end of days was coming.

Yet here was this religious guy telling him that he was some sign of the end of the world. So what was he? why DID he have these powers? that dream he had was kinda creepy, as it wasn't a normal dream. it said to protect. Protect what? people? the planet? nature? what?

Kyle turned on his Tv to find some news reactions to his last heroic effort, as the tv put it. Kyle snickered as he sat down to watch.

The tv announcer had somehow switched to live feed from D.C.

"While this .. hero has so far been friendly. we must wonder what a boy, if you will, would do with these powers. and he may not even be a boy at all. That is to say, we don't know for sure that he is even human. This supposed cave story could be just made up." The man at a pulpit said.

"Further more, we do not entirely agree with the idea that a being with these powers should be allowed to fly where ever he wants." WHAT? how would they even stop him? Kyle could out fly anything they had. Kyle flipped the channel, angry at the response. he'd damn well go where he wanted, and if anybody got in his way, well.. they'd pay for messing with him when all he wanted to do was help.

The next channel was a televised panel of religious leaders, all who were arguing wether or not this boy was some sort of ushering in of the end of days, if he was a good being from God, or if he was some prophecied deciever that would decieve many and lead them to hell. Kyle laughed as they "debated" over him.

Flipping through the channels he found that he was on almost every news station, and even alot of special interest stations. It seemed like that was the case everytime he did something new.

Stomach rumbling, he realized it was time to eat again, and headed upstairs for food.

Darkness. Where was he? Was this like before? Kyle looked and saw it. The same field. why a field? And why was he naked? Wind blew up around him, covering him in the familiar goosebumps.

He waited, hoping something would come, that something would tell him more than just to protect. Kyle looked up, and saw stars, just like before. But something was different. It felt different. Kyle couldn't see anything different, stars were stars after all, but it felt VERY different than last time.

Something was blocking the stars, a large something. it was filling the sky directly above him, causing each star to go out one by one, and with it came a certain sense of dread. Shivers ran through his body, with the dread expectation that even he was doomed.

Then the same voice came to him, as if the wind itself were speaking to him.. "must... stop...". stop what? that horrible blackness in the sky? What the fuck was it? now the wind was blowing harder, causing the grass was rippling towards him, as if he were in the middle of a giant circle.

"You must... protect.." again the voice came.. filling his mind. Kyle felt a wave of intense desperation, intense worry. What was this emotion? who was it coming from?

"From what? what do I have to do?" Kyle yelled back. He needed more. Otherwise.. what was he going to do? He needed to know.

in response the scene changed. suddenly EVERYTHING was dark, and Kyle felt as if he were floating. In fact he was, as he looked around, and saw below him the.. planet? How the fuck did he get up here?

And up above, he could see that something was coming, something BIG.

don't you just hate cliffys? I do, but at least they generate reader response. I would still like more name suggestions for our hero. I do have some picked out that I like.. but more ideas would be nice.

Thanks to my new editors.. Darryl, and um.. someone else. I want to say oberon, but I'm not sure.
