Home Runs ~ Chapter 2

Jason and Michael pulled into the parking lot of a club called Phoenix and exchanged another kiss sitting in the car. Michael couldn't believe how lucky he was. He had been noticing the Jason since a couple of days after he had come to work for the coach. There was something about him that drew Michael's eye. That something kept Jason running through Michael's thoughts for reasons quite obvious to Michael. He had taken a big risk asking Jason out the way he did because while his friends on the team knew he was gay, it wasn't something he wanted the whole team to know. But it was okay now, the risk had paid off; and he was heading to the club with one of the hottest guys he'd ever seen.

"Hey," Jason said, breaking him from his reverie, "aren't you worried that someone will see us here at the club? I mean, wouldn't that be bad for your career?"

"Yeah, I guess so, but right now I don't really care; I just want to have a good time with you. Plus, we don't even have to dance; they have a killer restaurant area in there too. We can just sit down and eat, but honestly, if they see us, I don't care; I refuse to run and hide in the closet, especially not when I have such a hot guy with me."

At that last sentence, Jason leaned over and gave Michael another kiss. "Well, we may dance before the night is over, but let's sit down at a table and get to know each other first."

"Sounds like a plan." Michael said as he opened the door and climbed out of his Toyota Avalon.

"I meant to say Michael; your car choice surprises me. I figured you were the convertible sports car type. Why did you choose this car?"

"Well, I am not one for senseless extravagance, and this car is classy and gets great gas mileage. Plus, I love Toyotas, they are dependable."

"That's cool, I just never would have guessed."

As the walked in the door, Michael took care of the cover and told the host they wanted a semi-private table close to the dance floor. The table he showed them to was a cozy booth not ten feet from the band. It was one of those wrap around booths, so they could sit side by side and still see the band. They ordered their drinks and started talking.

"So, you come here often?" Jason asked.

"Yeah, this is my favorite club in town, they have great food and the music is always awesome. You want some help deciding what to order?"

"Well, I'm not really that hungry, I think would be good with just sharing something. What do you think?"

"Sounds great to me, do you like chicken? They have great grilled chicken."

"That sounds perfect. You think maybe we can order some of these crab claws to start off? I have a weakness for fried crab claws."

"Most definitely."

They placed their orders and kept chatting. They talked about their recent pasts. Both of them had played baseball in high school and college. Michael, who was 24 to Jason's 22, had gotten a degree in physical therapy while playing baseball. Jason had majored in athletic training, so they were both pretty big sports people. When Michael asked why Jason had had to stop playing baseball, Jason said that he had hurt his knee diving for a ground ball, and the doctor had strongly recommended that he not play anymore.

"Does it still hurt sometimes?" Michael asked.

"Yeah, sometimes it locks up, and I just have to sit down `til it loosens up again."

"You know there are certain exercises you could do to keep it from doing that as much, and others you can do when it happens?"

"Really, well, you may just have to show them to me some time then." Jason said that a devilish grin on his face.

In response Michael leaned over and whispered in Jason's ear, "I'm sure there are a few things we could show each other, if you catch my drift." And Jason replied by turning his head and kissing Michael again on the lips.

"Does that answer your question?"

"I don't know why don't you do it again and let me see if I can tell what your answer is."

"You'll probably get another chance later." Jason said teasingly.

Just then their food came, and they momentarily halted conversation to get a first taste, but before Jason could get a hand on a crab claw, Michael grabbed the plate and pulled it out of his reach.

"Hey now, those were for me." Jason complained.

"Well, I guess they were, here you go." Michael replied, and he picked up a claw and offered it to Jason.

"You gonna feed me my crab claws?"

"Sure, if you don't mind."

And Jason took the crab claw in his mouth and nibbled on the ends of Michael's fingers. Then he reached over and pulled the plate of chicken alfredo away from Michael. "You get to feed me, I am going to feed you too." And with that, he cut a bite and offered it to Michael who seductively accepted it from the end of the fork. After that, they started making out and totally forgot about their food. They were completely lost in each other. Eventually, they stepped out on the dance floor together where they totally lost track of time, they were just enjoying themselves too much.

"Shit!" Jason said, as he glanced at his watch, "It's 1:30 we gotta go. I have to get back to the stadium to get my car, then drive all the way across town home. I can give up on getting much sleep, I have to be at work at 6:30."

"Hey, you could save forty five minutes of driving if you don't staying at my house tonight. It's just ten minutes from here, and I am sure you would fit in some of my clothes in the morning. I don't mind taking you to work in the morning." Michael offered, crossing his fingers and holding his breath.

"I don't know; I don't usually go home with a guy after the first date."

"Oh, nothing like that." Michael assured Jason. "I am just trying to help you out; I feel bad about keeping you out so late, and I have an extra bed at my house. I wouldn't even try to pressure you into something like that."

"Well, I don't know." Jason was torn. He really did have standards, but he really wanted to go home with Michael. "I guess that would be okay. Yeah, it sounds just fine to me."

"Awesome, I'll just get our check and we can go." Michael said, with a huge smile on his face.

Twenty minutes later, they were pulling in at Michael's house. Jason couldn't believe how this day had turned out, and neither could Michael. Neither of them had started this day with the intention of having such a promising prospect when they went to bed. But, as often happens in life, fate just had a way of working things out.
