"Jared." Mom said as she slowly entered my room. "Jared sweetie wake up." She sat next to me on my bed and gently rubbed my face.
"Huh? Wh...What?" I asked as I started to sit up.
"Well you said your friend should be back around four and its almost four now. I just thought I'd wake you up before he got here." A warm smile came across her face. My mom, like I said before, had to be the best. She strived for perfection, but didn't demand it. Her looks always looked perfect as well. The red hair down to her shoulders was accompanied with deep blue eyes and she stood some what tall maybe 5'8". Or is that tall? I don't know my heights. Anyways, I have her eyes but not the hair. My hair is medium length and it's a sandy blonde. I guess I kind of take after my dad with the hair. And my height is from both parents; I'm 5'11" and my dad is 6'2".
"Come on get up! Your father is home and he wants to see you." Her voice was a little bit louder this time.
"Alright, I'm up already." I said groggily.
"I made parmesan breaded chicken with fettuccine alfredo and a salad."
"Wow, we went all out tonight, huh?"
"Jared, I go all out every night, but tonight I want to make a good impression on that young man." She said trying, again, to be perfect.
"I know mom. I was just kidding. You know I love your cooking!" And that was the truth. I adored her cooking just as much as I did her and my dad. Mom was known for her cooking all throughout the neighborhood. At least once a month she had dinner parties and invites her neighbor friends. Of course, some no longer talked to us because they are very strict with God and didn't want to eat in the same house as a sodomite. I always felt bad because I made mom lose friends. But she reminded me that she would lose all her friends before she blamed me for their hatefulness. Plus, these friends weren't very...friendly. Even before they found out I was gay they bickered at us all the time. Whether it was simple things like not pulling in our trashcans within one hour of pick-up or not getting our mail right as it was delivered. My parents and I just ignored them most of the time and it usually worked.
As I made my way downstairs I could smell the food and it was making my mouth water. I saw my dad sitting on his chair watching the news. I was very curious as to what he had to say to me.
"Hey dad, what's up?" I cautiously asked.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing is all. Your mother told me about Matt. And she also told me about this new boy. Now, I may be wrong but don't you think it's a little to early to get into another? I mean what if he's just a Matt in disguise?"
"Thanks for caring about what happened between Matt and I, but I know Tommy wouldn't do that. He's very different from Matt." I said trying to reassure him.
"But you just met him last night."
"Dad, really, even though I did just meet him last night I can just sense something in him that's so...so...I can't even explain it." Tears started to come into my eyes as I deeply thought about Tommy. Although I had only known him for one night I just felt safe and loved with Tommy. The feelings with Tommy are ones I never felt with Matt.
After a sigh dad said, "Alright son. Just don't let your guard fall to far down. I don't want this to happen to you again!" he said with a more stern tone.
"Alright dad, I will."
Wow, I've never seen him be serious about this kind of thing before. I mean he told me to be careful about being open but never anything like this. The doorbell rang a few minutes later. I answered it with the biggest smile on my face.
"Hey Jared."
"Hi Tommy," I said. "Come on in."
"Wow, this is a nice house Jared, truly." He said looking stunned. I didn't know why though, I mean his house was bigger than mine. But mine was a bit more...welcoming than his for sure.
"Yeah I like it. Your nervous aren't you?" I asked clearly seeing how he was biting his lip, which, I'm not embarrassed to say, was kinda turning me on. He looked so cute!
"Um no, I mean, yes very. What if they don't like me?" he looked so nervous.
"Tommy trust me on this, they're gonna love you! Just like I do." I leaned in and kissed him.
"Hello there! Oh, um, sorry." Bree said as she walked near the front entryway. Tommy and I backed off so fast his tongue was still hanging out; mom didn't mind though.
"Sorry." Tommy said shyly. "I'm Tommy Imbriani." He said as he extended his hand to my mothers.
"I'm Bree Delfino and this is my husband Mike." Bree was surprised by Tommy's manners. I guess Matt didn't ever do that; he was always crude.
"Hi...Tommy." Dad said. He didn't seem too impressed by Tommy's manners. And I don't know why but I got the strangest feeling that dad hated him. But maybe it was just a feeling.
"Nice to meet you both and Mrs. Delfino I can surely see where Jared gets his looks from if it's not to bold to say." Okay I could definitely tell he was trying to get on there good side. And I took that as a compliment as well. My mom is very pretty.
"Well thank you Tommy. To tell you the truth he does take more after my side." She whispered to him. "Now boy's dinner will be ready shortly so why don't you two go upstairs and I'll call you when it's done."
"Okay mom." I said as I walked Tommy upstairs to my room.
He walked in and I thought his eyes were about to pop out. It was like he was in total awe. I mean sure I love my room but I didn't think it was anything to pop your eyes out at. If anything I thought it would've been to girly for him, but I guess not.
"This is so cool! I'd so love these colors in my room! I can't believe your parents let you do it any way you wanted to!" Tommy beamed.
"Yeah I love it. At first I didn't know what to put on them. But blue and green are my favorite colors then the pink and brown just seemed to fit."
"Well I love it!"
"Alright already, I do to." I said as I slightly laughed.
"Sorry..." Tommy said looking down at the carpet.
"Tommy, hey, I was just kidding. I love it that you love my room! Honestly!" I said as I stepped closer to him. "I didn't mean to offend you dude."
"No I'm sorry. I was just being stupid." He said as he started to gently cry.
"Tommy no, it's okay. You weren't being stupid, honest." My hand met his and I held him closely as he started to cry harder. I didn't know what happened to him all of a sudden. I kinda felt bad for him. He just cried harder and harder, like he'd been holding all this in for so long.
"I don't want you to go! Please don't leave me!" he now started to cry hysterically. Now I was growing worried by his behavior all of a sudden. I wasn't gonna abandon him or anything.
"Tommy I'm not going anywhere, I promise." I said reassuringly. But how could I predict the future. I mean I know I wouldn't hurt him in any way, or at least not mean to.
Poor Tommy, I mean, someone must have hurt him bad. It was a horrible thought. How could anyone hurt such a wonderful person? It pist me off and from right then and there I knew I wanted to help him in any way possible.
I held him on the floor for a few more minutes before I stood him up and gently kissed him. He smiled after I pulled back and he slowly stopped crying.
"Thanks." He said quietly.
"Tommy, I'm always gonna be here for you now. I'm your boyfriend damn it!" I said playfully.
"You were serious?!"
"Well I wasn't kidding silly. I wanna be by your side forever. Just because I've only known you for a day, it feels like I've known you forever. It never felt that way with Matt, ever. I wanna learn everything about you! Nothing you say could change my mind Tommy! Nothing!" I looked straight into those blue eyes of his and smiled, but kept a serious look on my face.
"Jared...I...I want you so bad. Last night when I saw you, you looked so sad. I knew I had to talk to you. Take a chance even if you weren't gay. Luckily for me you were. I knew I wanted you right then and there. You know, not sexually, but I mean...not that you're not attractive in that way..." he was trying not to make it sound innocent and I knew exactly what he was saying.
"Tommy I know what you mean," I said breaking into a small laugh, "and I think of you the same. I know you're very attractive in every way possible. You know I don't need sex or want it. However, I do have my moments." I said as I winked to him.
"Boys dinner is ready!" mom shouted.
"Thanks Jared." Tommy said smiling weakly to me.
"No problem boyfriend." I said with a gentle smile.
We headed downstairs and the smell of the food was way to invigorating. My mouth was watering again. I could see Tommy was also captivated by the smell. His eyes were kind of red from crying so hard, but I knew mom and dad wouldn't touch that subject unless I approved with a distinguished look on my face that I usually gave them.
"Ah mom it smells so good!" I also screamed.
"Yes Mrs. Delfino it smells so good!" Tommy said trying not to be his shy self.
Our dining room table was bigger than most. It was wood and it could seat ten I think. But that was when it as pulled out otherwise it sat about six. Mom and dad took the seats at the end so they were facing each other then there were two chairs left on both sides.
"Mom, where's Stacy?" I asked.
"Oh I forgot about her. I guess I should call her."
Stacy is my older sister; she's nineteen. The University of Redlands is where she goes to college. She wants to become a nurse so she's studying...well whatever you need to become one. Stacy still lived with us and my parents don't touch that subject either. I mean it's not like they care but you know most parents want they're kids out of the house once they go to college. Well our house has five bedrooms and four bathrooms so there's plenty of enough room. And it's way cheaper than living on your own.
"Stacy it's your mother speaking. Are you going you going to be joining us for dinner? Oh, okay. Well then I'll see you both when you get here. Goodbye." Mom came back to the dining room but headed into the kitchen and came back again with two more plates.
"Stacy's bringing a friend?" I asked curiously.
"Don't you remember she has a boyfriend?" Mom said.
"Oh. Yeah. Um...Jeff right?" I asked trying to remember his name.
"Yes dear." mom said.
Tommy looked at me nervously. I knew he didn't want to meet anybody else but my sister was super cool so he won't have a problem.
"Babe," I whispered in his ear, "she's really cool don't worry about it."
"I'm not worried about her, Jared; I'm worried about her boyfriend." He said worriedly.
"Tommy she knows I'm gay and I'm pretty sure she's told Jeff." After I reassured him I leaned in and kissed him.
After mom talked to Stacy we all sat in the living room until she arrived. Ten minutes later she walked in with Jeff close behind and holding a pie.
"Hi mom and dad!" she shouted. My parents jumped out of their seats and ran over to her. Although she lived in the same town, Stacy was always so busy with school and work, that she never had time to really visit, unless it was around holidays.
"Hi sweetie! Oh it's so good to see you!" mom screamed.
"Hi sweetheart." Dad said as he hugged her. "Hey there Jeff, how's the family?"
"They're good Mr. Delfino." Jeff stated as he shook my fathers hand. I walked over and gave Stacy a hug. It's been a while since I last saw her.
"Stacy this is my boyfriend, Tommy." I said proudly looking over at Tommy with a smile on my face. She seemed confused, but I couldn't guess why.
"Tommy? What happened to Matt?" Oh okay, I know why now.
"Oh um...he cheated on me."
"I'm sorry Jared. Well nice to meet you Tommy." She said as she leaned in and hugged him.
"You to Stacy." Tommy mustered out.
Well we finally got to eat. While we were we just chatted about things like how Stacy's school work is going, her job, and her relationship with Jeff. Everything seemed perfect. God, she must have it easy.
After dinner we had a short dessert. Stacy and Jeff had to be on their way. So we said our goodbyes and I almost carried Tommy to my room. Once in the security of my room I couldn't help but kiss him. Luckily my parents gave me privacy and always knocked before they entered.
"Mmm...what was that for?" he asked.
"Because I love you Tommy." We kept making out for about ten minutes.
"Well Jared I should probably get home now." Tommy said sadly.
"Aw why?!" I almost shouted.
"My parents are kind of strict on the being home by their times."
"Oh, I know what you mean. Well fine, let me walk you out." I threw on a pair of shoes as he went downstairs and said his goodbyes to my parents and compliment my mom on her cooking.
"Okay Tommy let's go." I said as I headed outside.
"Coming!" he shouted from he kitchen. My mom gave him one more hug then he was out the door. As I walked him to his car I noticed I heard him sniffling.
"Tommy? What's wrong?"
"Nothing Jared, but it's just, I'm so happy! I've never been happier." He cried.
"Me to and my mom really likes you."
"Yeah your dad didn't seem to even look at me though."
"Well I think he's just protective about me. I mean look what Matt did to me. He doesn't want that to happen again."
"Jared I'm gonna guarantee you it won't. I'll never cheat on you! I promise you that!" he got more serious now.
"And I promise you I won't." I reached in and kissed him. Our kissing lasted maybe ten minutes before he finally left in that very sexy car of his. I think the car made him even hotter.
I walked back inside and found mom and dad sitting on the couch watching TV. They watched me as I walked in like I did something horrible.
"Jared sweetie you are careful aren't you? I mean when I looked outside you boys were kissing a little too long. No? I mean you know there's nothing wrong but if the neighbors saw you there could be consequences." Mom said looking at me nervously.
"I don't care. I'll do what I want when I want with my boyfriend and if they're not down with that then they can move." I said as I looked at mom with a decent enough look. "Because I am tired of living in fear of people like them. If they want it they can come get it!" more angrily I said.
"Jared! I can understand that but don't let it happen. If any harm came to you I'd never forgive myself. I just want you to be careful okay?" mom said starting to tear up.
"Alright mom, I'm sorry. I'll be careful. Besides, Tommy wants to be careful too it's just out there it felt like we needed too." I gave mom a hug then walked upstairs before she or my dad could say anything else.
I fell on my bed and thought about one person: Tommy. He couldn't leave my mind. Nor did I want him too. And the more I thought about him the more I realized maybe he was right. Maybe Matt was just a starter. I always thought Matt would be the one. Of course, that was before I was really gay. Now that I'm more open and secure about it, I realize that finding that someone isn't as easy. But now I might have found that someone. Tommy was becoming everything to me. Although I have only known him for a day now, he's shown me what a boyfriend is supposed to be and what a boyfriend is supposed to do. I want to be the best boyfriend ever and by God I'm gonna be! No matter what.
"I love you Tommy." I whispered in the dark before I drifted off to sleep.
