Chapter 2
Later that day, I sat at Joey's dining room table and poke at the slightly cold chicken. I wasn't in any mood to eat with everyone, but I didn't want to disappoint Joey. So there I sat like I had a thumb up my ass, staring nonchalantely at Kevin. Kevin looked up from his plate and glared at me.
"Problem?" Kev asked, raising a curious eyebrow.
"No. Just looking." I said, averting my eyes so I stared at Joey's dog, Taz. She told me once I reminded her of him. A big, black, smelly pug? The dog licked people's ears, was overweight, and licked it's crotch all day. I'd like to think I'm a little bit better than that.
"Why are you staring at Taz? If you want to help him clean himself, be our guest." A.J. joked.
"No thanks. I'd rather clean up Joey over here." I said sexually, although I didn't mean a word. She busted out laughing and I laughed to myself as Howie gave me a 'don't-fuck-around-like-that' look. At least I knew I wouldn't take her away from him. I glanced at Brian. He looked peaceful, eating slowly while his usual sweet smile played on his lips. He looked so cute when he ate. If only I could touch his lips and softly kiss...
"Nick, are you hungry? You should have said you wanted steak instead of chicken. Weren't you the one flapping your arms and singing, 'I feel like chicken tonight'?!" Joey asked, snapping me back to reality.
"Yeah! You even shook your booty." Brian added playfully.
"You were looking again, weren't you?" I asked just as playfully.
"Looking? Child, I was staring at that thang!! I wanted to start singing, 'Back that azz up and spank it till the cows come home!" Brian yelled in his corney old man voice, causing everyone to go into fits of laughter. I laughed too, but silently wished he was serious.
After dinner, I went to Joey's bedroom to play Nintendo. In the next room, Joey was talking with Howie.
"So, what do you want to do tonight?" Howie asked in his sexiest voice.
"Well, I was thinking we could talk." Joey stated seriously, fixing to bust out laughing.
"Well, O.K. But I figured..." He started to say.
"What? We would hop on the good foot and do the bad thing? Please, sleaze." She joked. The door opened and Brian popped in.
"Well if it isn't Mr. Rogers himself." Howie joked. Brian sat quietly beside Joey.
"Howie, can me and Joey talk for a minute?" Brian asked slowly. Howie nodded his head and left the room. As soon as he left, Brian burst into incessant tears that had obiously been kept at bay. Joey held him tight and rocked him slowly in her arms. Finally, the tears stopped.
"What's wrong, Bri?" She asked worried. Brian lifted his head and gave her a pitiful look.
"Joey, I...I...I love Nick." Brian gushed out.
"I know, we all do and we want to see him happy..." "No, I love him more than that. I love him like a lover." Brian painfully told her, his soft voice strained with emotion. Joey held his hand.
"Since when?" She asked.
"Ever since my last birthday party, February 23." He answered bleakly.
"I don't mean to pry, but how did it happen?" She asked sympathetically.
"Well, the party was good enough. It was at my new home and all my friends and family were there. Except you, damn it. Well, the rest of the guys and a few other friends of mine decided to play a lively game of Truth or Dare. It started well enough. Trisha kiss Kevin, Kevin lick the floor...but then it got more...physical. Then Jeff, one of my past teammates, dared Nick to suck on my... um... you-know-what. So we went to the laundry room. We nervously joked for a couple of minutes, then he pulled down my pants. Now, I expected him to suck on it a little and I knew I wasn't gay. Well, when he put his mouth around it, I fell into a world of ecstasty. Not only did it feel amazing, he kept sucking. Just as I was about to grab the back of his head and moan, he stopped. We went back and we never talked about it again." Brian finished.
Joey had patiently listened. She pulled Brian to her and kiseed his forehead. "It's o.k. Bri. I don't think any less of you, and I'm glad you told me. Are you going to tell him?"
"How can I? You know how girl crazy he is, and I'm too shy. What if he hates me? What if it breaks up the band? What if...oh, Joey! I'd rather have him as a friend It would ruin everything!" Brian confided.
"First of all, he would never hate you. He loves you, at least as a friend. Second, the guys probably would accept it, and three, if you don't tell him you'll never know." Joey explained calmly and briefly.
Brian sighed deeply.
"Well, I'd better go see if Kev's o.k. I'll see you later, Joey." Brian stated. They hugged again and he left. Joey walked into her room, grabbed a controller, and played against me.
