Justin closed the door softly behind him as he entered his house. He had woken up at JC's place and without asking the time JC had practically forced him to have sex, well not really forced him. He smiled quickly thinking about their morning activities but it was quickly dashed away when he heard his mom call his name.
"I'll be in my room, I have to shower," he called back sprinting up the stairs and cursing himself for being caught. It was pretty obvious his mom would be mad at him for coming home about five hours later than he usually did, but in his tired state he didn't really have anything on his mind besides a shower and a quick nap. There was going to be a Leather Land party at the club later that night and he had pants he wanted to show off and an ass to go in them to help him earn more money. He had showered at JC's place so he sat down on his bed next to his drawer as he took the money he had earned out of his pocket, putting it in the envelope with the other dead presidents he would have to deposit into his bank account later.
His mother knocked on the door of his bedroom and he shoved the envelope into the drawer, closing it quickly. His eyebrows knitted together not remembering if there was an extra bill in there or if it was his tired mind playing tricks on him. He called out to invite his mom in when she knocked on the door again, calling his name louder.
"Where were you?" she asked when she opened the door, he could tell she wasn't in the mood to mess with.
"My friend at work let me go to his place to test out his new stereo equipment," he lied looking up innocently, "I thought it was too early to call and tell you I would be home late."
"Well okay, but you had me worried," she didn't know what she was expecting to hear.
"Sorry," he mumbled inhaling deeply, only smelling JC on his shirt.
"We're going out to eat, me and your father, you're coming too."
"When?" Justin looked up quickly.
"Around five, and don't tell me you have work because you're just going to have to go in late. We haven't gone out to eat dinner with you in a long time," she said giving him one last look before walking to the door.
"Yes mom," he sighed as he stood up. She closed the door behind her and Justin cursed under his breath as he walked to the door, locking it. His legs were still sore from the previous evening and he couldn't help but smile at how JC had changed drastically from the first night. He fell onto the bed still wearing his clothes and inhaled deeply again. He couldn't wait for Thursday.
JC ran inside his apartment as he heard the phone ringing and threw the grocery bag on the counter before picking it up.
"Hello?" he breathed out heavily.
"I'm afraid to ask what you were doing," he heard Joey laugh on the other side of the line.
"I was bringing the groceries in when I heard the phone ringing, so I had to run," JC rolled his eyes turning around and focusing on sorting the food in the bag out.
"Well I hope you don't plan on eating any of it. I'm in town actually."
"Why?" JC asked cautiously putting down the head of lettuce.
"Wow Joey! That's awesome Joey!" Joey mimicked sarcastically.
"Wow Joey, that's awesome..." he replied monotonously, "Now why are you here?"
"I can't just visit and say hello?"
"You wouldn't of flew all the way to Rhode Island just to say hi from California if you didn't have a reason," he sighed adding the facts together, "Ann and you are planning something."
"We're just worried," Joey conceded, "But before you get mad, have dinner with us tonight. I want some barbecue so take me to that place you like, I don't remember the name of it."
"Mandy's," JC answered opening the refrigerator door. "What time?"
"Six," Joey answered, "You'll also be picking me and Ann up, don't be late. I'm staying at the Marriot."
"Okay," he tossed the lettuce into the bin while he hung up the cordless and put it on the counter next to the cereal box. He put the rest of the groceries away before walking to his bedroom and assessing the mess from the night before. He should feel guilty over hiring someone to have sex with but the more he thought about Q the less at fault he felt.
The sheets were hanging off the side of the bed, the elastic band that held it onto the mattress was stretched out, and his blankets were balled up on the floor and he didn't mind one bit like he should have. He took a deep breath walking inside, turning on the light to assist the sun coming in through the windows. He balled up his sheets as well, flashes of last nights activities coming into his head as he walked to the laundry basket and dumped it in there. The way Q would look at him when he thought he wasn't looking made him feel like he could get anyone he wanted, but he scared himself as he realized he didn't want anyone else but Q. He picked up the blanket as he let out a small burp, convincing himself it was just indigestion that made him feel that way.
The phone rang in the other room and he groaned out loud as he realized he was tangled in the blanket. He tripped over himself as he tried rushing out of the room and when he got to the phone he was frustrated.
"Now what Joey?"
"Uh, it's Q," he heard him say hesitantly and JC shut his eyes enjoying the voice. "Is this a bad time?"
"No, it's fine actually. I was just cleaning up from last night, and this morning," he brought his voice down instinctively. "What's up?"
"I was just going through the money I made last night, and I found an extra fifty, care to explain? I've been thinking about it all morning since I went through it first, then this afternoon and all signs point to you." He could hear Q smiling on his side of the line and he blushed.
"Well, take it as overtime I guess," JC laughed lightly running his hand through his hair, thinking about how it was due time for a haircut. He paused as a thought came into his mind, "How did you get this number?"
"You gave me your number, remember? You told me if I was going to be late again I should call," he heard Q take in a deep breath, "You sounded a lot like a parent actually, a mom more like it..."
"Shut up," JC laughed lightly, "I forgot that I did that."
"No worries," he listened to Q laugh until he stopped quickly, "Shit is it four?"
"Uh, yeah," JC did a quick look at the clock.
"I have to go, I'll see you Thursday, earlier in the evening of course," he added as he hung up. JC smiled and walked into his bedroom whistling.
Justin leaned back in his seat at the restaurant as he stared down at his empty plate of ribs. The waiter brought back the receipt from the check, handing it to his dad, and he stood up quickly dropping his napkin onto the seat.
"I'll go get the car," he smiled as his mother gave in handing over the keys. He thanked her before he started to leave.
"We need to buy him his own car," his mother sighed watching her excited son slam the restaurant door behind him.
"Maybe before the school year starts," Justin's father offered as he stood up, putting his napkin on the table, "We'll see how the rest of the summer goes."
"He may have a lot saved for a car with this job of his," she commented as she stood up beside her husband, "He spends so much time working."
"Justin's got a good head on his shoulders, he just needs to go to church with you more often"
"I think he likes sleeping in, than going to church," she smiled as they neared the entrance. A couple people were coming in and they smiled in greeting before walking past them. As they were reaching for the door to leave a man reached for it the same time on the other side as well.
"Oh excuse me," he apologized quickly as he held the door for them.
"Thank you," she smiled as she walked out. She saw their SUV a few feet in front of them waiting and she walked up to the driver's side as Justin sat up slowly and pulled down the window. "Why are you crouching down like that?"
"Oh um, I thought I dropped something," he sputtered out.
"Okay..." she trailed off smiling before getting into the backseat as her husband got into the passenger side. Justin put the car in drive when everyone was buckled in and gave one last look to the door of the restaurant where JC had just entered.
"I just got the chills," JC shook again as he sat down across from his two friends in the booth, "Weird."
"Yum, ribs," Joey licked his lips reading the menu.
"I'll split a whole rack with you," Ann offered.
"No way, I'm hungry," Joey laughed closing his menu again and pushing it to the head of the table.
"I could probably eat more than you..."she predicted doing the same with her menu.
"Oh no," JC sighed covering his face with his hands, fearing what was to come.
"I'm eating for two you know," she said putting her hand on her protruding stomach, "I bet I can eat more than you."
"And hell is here," JC sighed as Joey stuck his hand out.
"Deal," Joey laughed as Ann shook his hand. The waiter approached and took their orders of endless ribs until they couldn't eat anymore.
"So JC," Joey leaned forward when the waiter walked away, "You know why we brought you here."
"Yeah," JC nodded picking up a peanut from the small bucket on the table, "And you know I drove you all here so if you're going to insult me I'll be driving home, alone."
"Joey you have money for a cab right?" Ann smiled to Joey while laughing.
"I don't know, matters how much ribs I can eat," he elbowed her gently as JC scowled. "Anyways, JC, you're a semi handsome dude."
"Very handsome," Ann interrupted, "Joey is just afraid to say you're hot because he doesn't want you to think he's gay."
"Shut up," he retorted quickly without breaking his gaze from JC.
"No," she smiled.
"Fine," Joey dropped it then continued with JC as he lowered his voice, "JC... a hooker. You're a handsome kid, you're smart... you have more majors in college than I could probably afford to pay on behalf of and you're funny. You don't need to pay someone to have sex with you, there has even got to be some people out there that would pay to be with you."
"You don't understand," JC sighed popping the peanut in his mouth.
"Then explain it to us honey," Ann looked at him with consideration in her eyes, "I love that you're happy with him, at least from the tone of your voice that had so much anticipation in it last night, but I just... I want you to higher your standards."
"Higher my standards," JC repeated as the waiter came and put their drinks on their table and walked away promising them their salads in a minute.
"Yeah, higher your standards," Joey began again as he took a hand full of peanuts. "I told you. I'm happy you're getting laid, very happy actually because now I don't have to hear about your frustrations, but JC you shouldn't have to pay someone. Ann says she knows someone she can set you up with."
"Oh not that social worker," JC cringed.
"What was so wrong with Kemper?" she asked shaking her head at Joey's offer of peanuts.
"He just wasn't my type," JC decided not to tell her about Kemper's bondage fetish. "Q is..."
"Q?" Joey repeated, "What kind of name is that though, it's probably a fake name..."
"It probably is," JC snapped before sighing, "I don't want to talk about this."
"Joey wants to ask you something," Ann shot Joey a look nodding him on for a subject change.
"Oh right," Joey picked up his drink, taking a long sip out of it before clearing his throat, "I'm going up to San Francisco when I get back home and I wanted to know if you would like to come with me. I'd pay of course, actually my company will, it's a business trip. I know you always wanted to go man."
"I would say yes," JC sighed wanting to accept, "but I don't trust your intentions."
"JC," Ann sighed, "He was planning on asking you before the mention of Q even came up."
"Yeah I was," Joey added in, "I knew about this a week ago."
"I don't think I can anyway," JC said, feeling about five inches tall, "I just have work to do."
"Bring it with you. Come on," Joey urged, "San Francisco is like, the gay Mecca of the world. You'd love it."
"When is it?"
"In two weeks," they were cut off again when the waiter brought their salads. They were silent until he left.
"I'll think about it," JC conceded as he poured his dressing onto his salad sparingly, "Maybe I could bring work with me."
"Good," Joey nodded sneaking a look to Ann and winking when JC wasn't looking. JC sighed again as he picked up his fork.
"JC we just are worried about you," Ann leaned forward putting her hands on the edge of the table, "I'm sure you made a smart decision when you picked or... whatever you did by choosing this guy, but we're your friends."
"I know," JC smiled wanting to change the subject, "I don't think I should have told you though, because then I wouldn't be forced to sit through this."
"I'm glad you did," Joey commented as he pushed his salad away, "I gotta save room for the ribs, but JC we're always going to be behind you one hundred percent, but if we did this, what would you say?"
"I'd tell you to knock yourselves out and not to tell me the details," he looked away when they both shot him a look, "Fine; I guess I would be telling you the same things you've been telling me."
"Just don't be mad at me," Ann looked down quickly to Joey's salad then pushed her own away, "I should save room too. If you have to be mad at someone, be mad at Joey."
"Gotcha. Just don't be plotting anything behind my back like you did with the trip." JC smiled taking a big bite of his salad.
"Yeah yeah," Joey leaned back in his seat looking around the restaurant.
"If you met him you'd think he has a really nice ass," JC smiled towards Ann when Joey scowled.
"Well I'm sure he and I don't share the same hours."
"Thank God for that," JC smiled as he took another bite of his salad.
