I pulled into the driveway and went in the house and dad and Megan were in the game room with drinks and I grabbed a beer and dad smiled and asked did you even remember it was your birthday? I said sure, on the buss ride home from the game. We are set for dinner tomorrow evening 6:00 at Oakmont and they have a seat for Ashley. Dad asked who won the game and I said we did and he said that they reported every score but yours. I laughed and said, I guess they were serious. I explained the situation and dad said Mike, you know you will have to fix that? Dad, that's not likely and if they want to support a stringer, I'm good with no media coverage. Dad, let's see how the PG deals with it as I chatted with their reporter at school, he said he understood. Besides they will have to cover us eventually. They need our team more than we need them and if it isn't resolved by my interview with Diane next week it will get a very public review about what high school kids go through. Megan was very quiet and had nothing to say but I knew she had an opinion. Then I asked about Cole and was told out with Jessica but would be home soon. Mike, he was at the game and they took the bus. I laughed and said, typical high school kid. Damn those were the days. Dad laughed and Megan did not.
Dad went to refill the drinks and Megan looked at me and asked was tonight fun? I smiled and said no, it wasn't. Mike the media why? Megan that stringer pisses me off. So Mike if he was in your opinion a real reporter would it be different? Megan a real reporter wouldn't be there before the game and I was reasonably nice to him twice. Mike as an 18 year old shouldn't you be nicer to adults? I said Megan that's a two way street. Mike it appears it is a street on which you have lost you way. Just think about that. Dad returned and we talked about the game. I called Wyatt's dad and was told he seemed fine but he has an appointment with his doctor tomorrow, I'll let you know and thanks for calling.
Cole came in saying how much fun the bus ride was and that the game was really intense. He asked how bad I was beat up me I shrugged and said I would know in the morning. Then he asked about Wyatt and I filled him in. We talked about Sunday and I knew he was nervous. With that I went to my room and was getting ready for bed when JJ appeared saying he was spending the night and that he had an 8" birthday gift for me. So dude, how did you pull off an all nighter? Oh, I told the rents you were very upset by the media and we needed to get drunk. Dad was good, mom not at all but at least we wouldn't be driving. I just laughed at him and said I can't be hung over. JJ laughed and grabbed me and I was taken to my bed. The sex was wild, intense and both of us simply needed each other but didn't care if the other was satisfied. Oh, we both were and as we lay there recovering, JJ whispered in my ear "lover that was not what I had in mind but fuck it was fun". Then he started to kiss me and was at my neck and I pulled away saying don't you dare mark my neck. He laughed and went back to kissing me all over. I was amazed when he lifted my arm and dove into my armpit. No one had ever done that and I like the sensation. Before long he was sucking on my nips and there were light bites and fuck, I was so hard my cock hurt. He started down the happy trail bypassed my cock spent a little time licking my ball and moved to that super sensitive area between my balls and my hole. He had my legs in the air and I knew my hole was next. Then he started licking and sucking my hole and I thought he wanted to suck his load out of my ass but he had other ideas and took a deep breath and took al of my cock in his mouth. Then he work my cock until I screamed, FUCK DUDE, HERE IT COMES. I shot a load in his mouth and he moved up and we kissed and shared the load. He said Happy Birthday and the best part was we fell asleep in each other's arms.
We were up at a reasonable hour and I but coffee on and grabbed the paper. The only story about our game was from the reporter I chatted with when we got back to school. It mentioned the score and the intensity of the game and went on to say that reporters needed to balance their need for news with the fact that they are covering high school kids. It said that pre game interviews with players offered nothing new and should be avoided. Then it went on to say that some very good players, who might be hounded by reporters need to understand that reporters, even those with less experience, have a job to do. Their cooperation is not only appreciated but an important part of the process. Then it said that in this writers opinion Mike Simmons, acted responsibly answered a few questions and when he left, other players stayed around to answer questions. We also have the option on who we cover and who we don't. Perhaps we should all take a deep breath and move on. This reporter will not be doing pre game interviews.
I was pleased with that and JJ, just shook his head when he read the article and went to the refrigerator took out some eggs and cooked breakfast. It was simple scrambled eggs, toast and coffee but it was the first of what I hoped to be many more. Once we were done eating I cleaned up and we jumped into the shower and it was simply some making out and soaping each other. JJ left for home and I threw on some sweats and went to the house, hoping to see Cole. As soon as I opened the door and didn't see his car I knew he was practicing somewhere. I went back inside and poured another cup of coffee and started on the sports pages again. There on the top of page 3 was a big article about the hearing and the outcome. The PSAA attorney indicated that they were considering an appeal as Cole's mother was a Federal Judge and had undue influence on the process. Then it went on that Judge Simmons said good luck with that as it was filed in DC to avoid a conflict and that Federal Judges on this level are selected for cases by a blind selection process. She went in to say, I have n Er even met this Judge. Cole said, he was pleased and wanted to go back to being a high school kid again.
I went to the house and Megan was there and Ashley was sleeping. Megan smile and said, I'm glad you stopped in. I bought you a birthday gift and wants you to have it before we got there for dinner. It was in a gift bag and I pulled out an 18" square of black metal. I looked and she laughed and said Mike, that's Teflon. It seems nothing sticks to you and I thought you might need a backup. I laughed so had I almost fell off the sofa. Megan that's perfect as it will go up on the wall in my office, with other special people and things. Oh, I get the message both from you and the newspaper. Then she asked, so when can I see these new offices, or do I have to wait for the public for the public vent? I said well how about Monday night after practice, it will be short as it is movie night. If you want we can grab a bite to eat and talk. Mike, that's great and I'll make sure you dad knows as he has daughter duty. In my room I dressed loaded the car with wine and grabbed my USGA jacket and a red tie and drove to Oakmont.
At the club, I parked near the back by the loading dock and went looking for Clark. He was easily found and I told him I had 5 cases of wine in my car and that I would have 5 cases tomorrow and that we had shipped another 10 cases which would arrive mid week. He was thrilled and asked for my keys and he would have the car unloaded. I tossed him my keys and went to the Pro Shop as I was an hour early for the meeting. I was told that Cole and Liam were at the range ant that the course was playing hard and fast. I said thanks and went to the range. Cole was working with his pro and Liam came up and said Mike, this is unreal. Some flipped a switch and your brother is striking it better than I have ver seen. There are all these new shots that he worked on playing high school golf. Besides that he might hold the club record for the number of practice balls hit in a week. Then he looked at my outfit and started laughing. Mike, you might belong in that outfit but you look ridiculous. I said Liam, it doesn't stay on long and we both laughed.
On the way to the meeting I ran int AP coming out of the Pro Shop. He laughed and said Mike, I might not play tomorrow as the course is playing as tough as I have seen it and they haven't cut the greens yet. I smiled and said isn't that the idea? So Mike were you hitting balls? Not at all as I was watching Cole. Mike, I saw him earlier and he is unbelievable right now. So Mike, what's your handicap? I shook my head and said I don't know? AP laughed and said you are the only scratch golfer in the world that doesn't practice. Changing the subject I asked what is Cole's handicap and he gave me that type smile and said heck he gives the course strokes. I laughed and Inside I found Carole already seated and took my jacket off an put it on the back of the chair next to her and I thought it awesome when AP did the same and I notice he wasn't wearing a tie. In front of me was an agenda and it was 13 items before there was a topic related to an Open. It seemed to me that they were clearing up crap from an executive meeting. I pointed it out to AP who said let it play out for a while and I'll deal with it. I nodded and sat quietly.
The meeting droned on and after 4 agenda items were complete and 45 minutes passed, it had apparently played out long enough. I heard, MR. FAY, IS THIS A CONTINUATION OF A BOARD MEETING OR ABOUT THE OPENS? Well we do have a few items to clean up. Well David, some of us are here for another meeting so I'll be outside until you get to why we were to be here. AP stood and started to leave when David said ok we cam move to item 12 and once complete we can deal with our outstanding issues later. It was all I could do was to sit quietly and not laugh out loud. As soon as we moved to the Women' Open I asked about ticket sales and was told it would be one of the highest attended women' event ever. Just then my buddy from the last meeting, Mr. Dobis asked now that Mike has his pat on the back can we move on. I shifted in my seat and sat a bit more erect but didn't react. There was lengthy discussions about logistics and parking and volunteers. I reminded them that in the past we had a volunteer coordinator and that we would do that again and there would be lots of requests for help from other Clubs and requests for volunteers in the print and non print media. Mr. Dobis said well he seems to know a lot about the past and the last time we were here he might have been in Kindergarten. Sir, I was 10 and Larry Nelson won that year and he was 5 under. If you ever want to take a golf history test, I'm ready. By the was that is strike 2. Dobis asked what does that mean? David Fay said well Mr. Simmons was sending you a message that if you made one more snide remark I will EXPLODE. I laughed at that. The meeting ended and I set out to explain the events for tomorrow.
As you want to see how tough Oakmont can be we have decided to set it up as we play our Club Championship. You guys will be playing the tournament tees that the women will play for the Open, Carole will be playing those teams as well. If any of you beat her I will pay those individuals $100. I have invited my stepbrother, Cole, to play and him and I will play the Tournament tees. Cole is a top rated amateur who happens to be the youngest person to ever win on the PGA Tour and he is 16. Should any of you beat him I will pay those $1,000 each. AP, Carole, Cole and I will be off at 12:00, Cole and I will be walking and we each have a caddie. AP said I'll get a caddy and play with Mike and Cole. Carole said, I'll have a caddie as well. I smiled and asked is everyone else riding? It appeared that they were and I said well each group will have an referee and rules official. Dobis asked and who determined all this? David Fay replied, I did in conjunction with Mr. Ford. Steve you can opt out but understand you are playing in my group and we are both walking. Then I told everyone the range will be open all morning. Lunch I understand is on the club. With that, I said I'll see everyone in the morning and went in the lounge and ordered an iced tea.
I was relaxing and David Fay appeared and sat down he asked if I was ok as I was skipping dinner? David, I have guests for dinner and they will be here for dinner in about 40 minutes. It's a family event? David asked if it was anything special and before I could say anything AP sat down and said Happy Birthday. I just shook my head and said, all I did was lived another year, what's the big deal. David said Mike, when you get to be our age it's a dig deal and we all laughed. Then David asked Mike, how hard did you make the course and why did you make the $100 challenge? Well there are people on the committee who will easily break a 100 and there is one who might shoot 115. As for the course, last time you played ie was what I would call Oakmont Easy, forward tees, cut rough and slower greens. We will play the course tomorrow as we play our Championship and use Sunday Open pin placements. Understand it will be very hard but not tricked up and the rough hasn't been cut in two weeks. Ok Mike and your stepbrother why is he here? I said to prove it is hard and fair. What will he shoot? AP said well if he is focused and if there is any kind of following about 3 under. David you should be off second so you can watch him, it's usually fun. Oh, he has the perfect caddy. We were at this point just chatting when Cole appeared dressed in a sports coat and tie and khaki pants. He came right over and shook hands with AP and I introduced him to David Fay. The waiter came over and I ordered drinks for everyone and I asked about mom and dad. Cole said he played with his coach today and spent a couple of hours practicing? I was here early and we were first off by 30 minutes and we worked on a lot of stuff, I'm rusty from high school golf. Oh MJ mom and dad and Ashley will be here soon. David excused himself to join the others and AP told Cole to simply relax and have fun tomorrow and that a score didn't matter. Cole laughed and said well it mattered to him as it would be Oakmont with teeth. AP said, dude it surely will. Cole said, that's perfect as I have never played the course like that and today we were out early and the greens weren't fast. AP joined the others and Cole and I had a good time catching up.
Dad, Megan and a sleeping Ashley arrived and we were quickly seated in an out of the way table which I appreciated for a lot of reasons. There was an infant seat for Ashley and she didn't even stir when she was strapped in. Almost immediately Clark and our server appeared with a tray of drinks. He handed Megan a wine and said this was to be a Sauvignon Blanc but I took the liberty of substituting a new item called a French Reserve. It from a New York winery and our members rave about. Megan smiled and said that perfect. Dad was handed a 12 year old Glenlivet scotch and Cole and I got an Arnold Palmer. Mike, Mr. Palmer said you would understand. I said thanks and tasted my drink and it was spiked and Cole smiled and I knew his was as well. I ordered beacon wrapped shrimp and we were talking and having a very relaxing and fun time. It was Oakmont quiet which meant there would be no visitors till after dinner. Then Dobis appeared and looked at Ashley and said congratulations it must be hard being a single dad. Dad looked and said well I have a wife sitting right here. Dobis turned totally white and I said well you bothering our meal was a foul ball as I know you have no manners but that comment was strike three looking. Dude, your toast starting tomorrow, now please go and enjoy you meal, I promise it is your last one here.
Once he was gone dad said Mike, I assume this isn't an isolated incident? I smiled and said correct and I motioned for the server. Dinner was ordered and we managed to pick up where we left off. My trout was great as was Megan's crab cakes and dad and Cole had steaks. After dinner a couple of members stopped by and chatted with Cole and indicated they would watch tomorrow to see if all that practice produced a great round. When I asked who wanted desert, I was told that was at home and that I was going directly there. I looked at Ashley who had been amazingly quiet and she was looking like she belonged. I laughed and said damn some guy will have his hands full. Everyone agreed and I thanked Clark and we all headed home and it was a shame it was 3 cars.
At home, I was the first one there and parked and thought it odd that there were lights on. When I opened the door JJ, Mia and Heather all screamed Happy Birthday. Heather ran over and jumped on me and I got a giant kiss. Cole came in and laughed and said MJ, I thought you would have stormed to your room by now. Dad and Megan were the last to arrive and I was handed Ashley and Megan went into the Kitchen and returned with a birthday cake and I almost dropped Ashley laughing. Then I had to put up with the birthday song. Now all this was just too cute for words and I handed Ashley to dad and thought now I have to eat cake, I was about to lose my mind. Then it got worse when Megan handed me a knife and made me cut the cake. Cake and beer didn't go to get her so I put coffee on and was hoping this was over before the coffee was finished. Ashley was in her day bed and dad appeared with a box and handed it to me and said Mike, you are being a very good sport but this is for your new office and when I opened it I smiled as it was a scale model of the space shuttle sitting on the launch pad and when I looked closer, it was signed by the crew and their role and as commander was Major James Messer, USAF. It was awesome. Cole gave me a framed picture of the Oakmont Club House. The picture was framed in my special frame and Cole said well you have a basement full of those frames. Looking closer Cole had signed it and I laughed out loud. Megan was next and I was given a picture of Ashley propped up in the corner of the sofa and an envelope. I opened it put it back inside the envelope and got up and went to dad's office and closed the door. I poured a scotch and sat in a chair and shortly there was a tap on the door and I said Megan, not yet. The door opened and she sat down and asked, why did the appointment for a family photo stress you out? Megan, I'm sorry but it reached the point here I was going to break down and I wasn't doing it in front of JJ and Heather. Mike, why do you hate birthdays? Megan every birthday event was a disaster either Bill or my mom blew it up. At my 8th birthday Bill did something hurtful and dad reacted and it turned into the typical mom and dad thing and I locked myself in my room. Dad somehow opened the door and held me and I made him promise never to have another birthday party for me. Megan, we never had a family picture and it was all too much, AP knowing it was my birthday and then him buying drinks and now the things for my office. Then the cake But the family portrait was all I could take. Mike, just so you know your dad tried to stop me. I smiled and said well mom, I'm glad you didn't.
Back in the game room dad said well at least I didn't have to unlock the door from outside and your crew left. Dad, I'll bet you a new Jeep they are at my place. Mike, that's not a bet as I don't want a Jeep and we both laughed. I looked at Cole and asked what time were we leaving in the morning? He laughed and said well I'm meeting Liam for breakfast, so I'll see you there. I said Cole, that's great and I hugged Megan and dad and went to my place. There I found Heather sitting on the loveseat drinking a beer and I asked about Mia and JJ and she pointed to a closed door that lead to Jace's room. Then she took my hand and said let's see if I can change your opinions about birthdays and she lead me to my room and closed the door. An hour later we emerged from an intense session of sex, straightened ourselves up and I drove her home. Back at my place I showered and was getting into bed and JJ called and asked so how is the birthday boy? I laughed and said well I survived. He said call me in the morning we can have breakfast and I'm watching golf. I said good night and I jumped into bed.
