Dale is a true gentleman when guests are around, even at Mom's house when he gets up early and prepares breakfast for her before she heads to the hospital and her clinic. Today is no exception. Dad got up and went into the breakfast nook off the kitchen. When he sat down and was looking out the window to the back yard, Dale sat his coffee in front of him with 1 sugar and light cream the way Dad likes his coffee. Shortly, Mom joined Dad, and, as usual, Dale sat her coffee in front of her. 2 sugars and black. Mom grabbed Dale and pulled him down and kissed him on the cheek and told him that one of the reasons she loves him so much as that he is such a true gentleman who treats others the way he wants to be treated.
A few minutes later, Jaiden, Charley, and I joined everybody else. Dale served us coffee made the way each of us drinks it. He told us that breakfast would be ready in about 10 minutes.
True to his word, exactly ten minutes later he placed two of the most beautiful quiches in front of us. He had even sliced each one and had a pie server under one of the slices of quiche. Broccoli and cheese and another with bacon, cheese, sautéed onion, with diced bell pepper. It was delicious. Mom had to insist that Dale sit down and eat breakfast. She told him we all were capable of getting our coffee refills. He was obedient to Mom's admonishment and sat down and ate some quiche. Charley got up and fixed Dale's coffee and brought it to him. "Two sugars, three creams, and a heart full of love,
Charley said as he sat down next to Dale and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
Charley and Dale didn't know about the conversation Jaiden and I had with Jenny last night. She came into the kitchen and got a piece of the quiche with the bacon and vegetables, poured her some coffee her way. She sat it on the counter in the kitchen and came to the breakfast nook and asked who prepared the quiche. Everybody pointed at Dale and she walked over to him, put her arms around his neck, and said, "I just tasted the quiche and it is the best I have ever tasted." She leaned over and hugged Dale and kissed him on the cheek and then shocked Dale by telling him, "I love you, little bro." You guessed it, Dale looked at Jenny as the whites of his eyes turned red. She grabbed her breakfast and headed out to the deck to enjoy the cool morning.
After she went outside, Dad looked at me and asked, "Peyton, did Jenny talk to you and Jaiden last night?" "Yes, sir, Dad, she did, and we cried until we didn't have any tears left. We accepted her and Jennifer's offer." Dad said, "Good that is what your mother and I had hoped you and Jaiden would do. Your mother and I knew Jenny loved you and Jaiden, but we didn't know the extend of her love until she talked to us two weeks ago. I don't think we have gone a day without crying since she discussed her offer with us."
Doc had made his offer to Jaiden and I in private, so Dale and Charley had no idea what we were talking about. Dale looked at Peyton and asked, "What have Charley and I missed?" Peyton looked at Jaiden as if he was asking him to answer that question so Jaiden answered Dale's question.
"Dale, Charley, last night Jenny had a long conversation with Peyton and I and, to make a long story short, she wants my and Peyton's children to be our biological children. She has lovingly offered to have her eggs fertilized with my sperm via in-vitro fertilization. She also told us her sister-in-law wanted to also have a child with Peyton's DNA. We spoke with her on the telephone last night after she got us calmed down enough to talk. We accepted her offer as well." Jaiden went on to tell Charley and Dale that Jennifer had slipped in town to attend the services yesterday without telling anyone she was coming. She was the young lady in the back of the synagogue yesterday who was crying her heart out.
We met with Jennifer and talked and cried for a short while yesterday. The doctor who was on the stage with us to say the Shema, it turns out he is a fertility specialist and he offered his services to Peyton, I, Jenny, and Jennifer free of charge. Each in-vitro procedure is usually $20,000 and up, so Doc's offer was quite insurmountable to all of us.
Dale sat there without saying a word, his and Charley's mouths agape and covered by their hands. They just stared at Jaiden and me. A second later an alligator tear rolled out of Dale's eyes and that set Mom and Dad off as well. Dale and Charley didn't know about Doc's officer until just now. The child Jaiden would sire would be Mom and Dad's biological grandchild as well as his mothers.
Dale, Charley, that is not all. Jenny's sister-in-law, Jennifer, has graciously offered and we have accepted her offer to have several of her eggs fertilized by Peyton's sperm so he also could sire a child for us. Payton's child won't be the biological grandchild of my mother, but you already know how she will deal with that. Any child born to me and Peyton will be her grandchild and she will spoil it rotten and then send the child home with Jaiden and me. That comment got a laugh out of everybody.
Jenny finished her breakfast and came back inside and gave Dale and Charley a look of intent. Peyton said, "Jenny is up to something else, I know that look. I guess we'll find out later down the road, but one thing I know, it is going to be something major."
We all got dressed and headed over to LECOM so Dad and Mom could see the campus. While we are there, we are going to have lunch in the dining room so they could see how good the food is. Jaiden told Dad and Mom about the things he learned about his parents and took them to the library and pulled out the books his Dad and Mom had written. They were in the LECOM library although we had learned about them at Penn State. Jaiden told Mom and Dad that he also had met associates of his Mom and Dad at Penn State. Dad in particular was shocked and amazed when he saw what Jaiden's parents had done outside the practice of medicine. His only comment was, "AMAZING! Freaking amazing." "Jaiden, no wonder you are so focused and intense about everything you do. Just about everything I see in the chapter titles of these books I have seen you do." He and Mom looked shell shocked.
Lunchtime arrived so we all headed to the cafeteria. Peyton and I got the roast beef, roasted carrots, and steamed brussels sprouts. Dad stared in amazement at the brussels sprouts on Peyton's plate. "Son, when did you start eating brussels sprouts?" "Dad, wait until you taste how they cook them here." Mom and Dad got the same things Jaiden and Peyton got. Charley and Dale, they went for their beloved broiled fish, roasted potatoes, and roasted broccoli. We put our trays down and filled our glasses with tea to drink.
When Dad tasted the roast beef he said, "Damn, this is delicious." "Mom said one word that got Dad's attention and admonished him to watch his language, and that word was, "JIM !" Dad said, "Sorry, guys." Jaiden laughed and said, "Dad, that's exactly what Peyton said the first time he tasted the roast beef, so you come by that naturally." Mom and Dad laughed at Jaiden's comment, but Peyton turned a light shade of crimson. That got Mom to laughing. When Dad tasted the brussels sprouts, he said, "How in the world did they take something that sometimes tastes somewhat bitter and make it so good.
Dale being the better cook of the four of us said, "Manuka honey. It counters the taste of Sulphur some people taste when they eat sprouts." Dad looked at Dale in amazement when he answered Dad's question. Dad knows Manuka honey is not something with which many people are familiar. When Dad tasted the roasted carrots, he noticed the mild flavors of butter, rosemary, and thyme with a touch of honey. "Peyton, you and Jaiden are going to have to work hard on not getting fat. This is the best college food I have ever tasted." Mom agreed.
When we finished eating lunch, we drove over to Penn State. Mom loved the old buildings on the campus. When we walked through the engineering buildings, the professors who knew and had worked on projects with Jaiden's parents were in their offices, so Jaiden introduced Dad to each of them. They pulled the book Dad had written on designing orthopedic applications for children and showed it to Dad Riley. He was amazed at what he saw and said it was evident how much Jaiden's Dad loved and wanted to help children. Dad's eyes turned red when he looked through the book.
We walked on down the hall to where Dr. Rajinder's office was. He was in his office, so we knocked on his door and when he looked up, he said "Jaiden, Peyton, Charley, Dale, it is so good to see you again. I hope you are excited about the beginning of the Fall Semester in three weeks. Dale and Charley assured him they were extremely excited to begin their new journey. Jaiden introduced Mom and Dad to Dr. Rajinder. Dr. Rajinder said, "Dr. Riley, Mrs. Riley, I am so looking forward to having Dale and Charley in my classes and getting to know Jaiden and Peyton. They are rather famous in these parts. He and Dad talked for a little while before we headed toward home. When Dr. Rajinder showed Dad the book titled "Advanced Studies in Environmental Engineering by Dr. Peggy Reynolds, DO, MSEE," he was stunned. "How in the world can Peggy practice medicine and do this kind of advanced work at the same time?" Jaiden said, "Dad, I asked Mom that very question and she looked at me, took a sip of coffee, smiled, and walked into her office, and closed her door. She does not want to be interrupted when she is in her home office working. She had done all you have seen and still made an enormous amount of time for me. She is amazing." "Indeed, she is Jaiden, indeed she is!"
On the way home, a little restaurant caught our eye. It said "Tony's Pizzeria." Peyton quickly told his Dad to pull into the parking lot. We got out of the car and walked inside, Jaiden wept when we saw a picture of us and Dale and Charley covering an entire wall. About that time, we heard a familiar voice say, "Hey guys, what do you think of the place?" We turned around and there stood Tony. At that point, we guys lost it. Tony grabbed the four of us and pulled us into his famous huddle hug and then said, "I love you guys too much to let you come so far away from Wellstone and not be able to get your favorite all-meat pizza and tea with your favorite Stevia. Mom and Dad were as stunned as we boys were.
Tony said his staff here would be trained and would recognize us whenever we came into the restaurant. He also said that our lifetime free pizza pass would be honored here in Erie. "Oh, and by the way, I saw y'all arrive on the security cameras and your pizza is in the oven. I know you probably just had lunch, so I will box the pizza for you to take it home. We thanked him profusely.
Jaiden asked Tony where he was staying while he was in Erie opening the restaurant. When he said he was staying at the Hilton Inn, Jaiden said "no you are not" and he wrote down our address and gave it to Tony and said, "We expect to see you at 5860 Landings Way tomorrow afternoon, and no argument about it. Our new home has four bedrooms and we also have two great sleepers in the den, so we will have you a key made before we get home and you will stay with us whenever you are in town." Tony said, "deal" and we shook hands on it.
The next day, Tony called Jaiden and said he would be at the house around 5 p.m. if that was ok. Jaiden told him of course it was ok. We would be waiting for him to get to the house.
At 5 p.m. Tony knocked on the door and asked if we could help him bring some stuff inside. When we got outside to his car, the stuff he wanted us to help him bring inside was an Italian dinner that could easily feed 20 people. Jaiden told Tony he didn't have to do that and Tony said he knew he didn't, but he wasn't going to let his boys do without good Italian food. Peyton went next door and got the Kravitz clan to come over to meet Tony and have dinner with us. He and the Rabbi hit it off well.
The Rabbi filled Tony in on everything that had transpired in Erie and Tony put his face in his hands and wept. He looked up and told Rabbi that he loved us more than anything in this world and that he wished he had children as nice and polite and as focused as we were. Rabbi told Tony he had four little wild children he could have, and he and Tony laughed at that comment. Rabbi told Tony to come to the French doors in the den that he had something he wanted him to see. When they got to the door, Rabbi said look out there at Jaiden and Peyton playing with my boys. It was instant love when the boys met those two young men and they are so good with the children. We are very excited that they are our neighbors and we are overjoyed that all four of the young men are full members of our synagogue.
Tony asked how they had become members so quickly, especially since Dale and Charley had not yet converted to Judaism. The Rabbi said because of what is in their hearts and that once we got completely moved into the house that Dale and Charley would attend conversions classes. Rabbi added that Dale already knew more Hebrew than many in his congregation. Tony raised his eyebrows at that. The Rabbi saw him make that face and said that Dale had a true heart for Judaism, that he seemed to have an old Jewish soul.
As the Rabbi and Tony were talking about Dale and Charley's conversion, he told the story about Charley learning the requirement for circumcision and how he almost passed out at the idea, He then told Tony about catching his brothers with the four Amigos on Little Beach and embarrassed them by standing at the top of the hill talking to them on their cell phone. He said that we had met the Rabbi's brothers in Maui and that neither of the Rabbis or their brothers knew the others were on the island at the same time; that his brother called him and Rabbi Belson as soon as they found out; that he had told his brother they were down the street at the grocery store and said they would meet up at Kamaole 1 Beach in about twenty minutes when they were actually on Kam 1 beach at the time. The Rabbi said he knew his little brother well and knew he would be on Little Beach since it was a nude beach. He told Tony he waited about 20 minutes and called his brother back and told him they had arrived at the beach. When he called David, he told him the 20 minutes should have been enough time for the 6 of us to get dressed and get our butts off the nude beach. He said David asked him how he knew we were on Little Bach with no clothes on and how he had told his brother to turn around and look on top of the hill. The Rabbi told Tony that when David turned around and looked upon the hill, he and Rabbi Belson were looking down laughing at us trying to get dressed so quickly. Tony started laughing so hard tears came out of his eyes. Rabbi Kravitz told Tony his brother was married to Rabbi Belson's brother and that was part of the reason he was so comfortable with the four of us.
When we came in from playing with the boys, we sat in the den, had a cup of coffee and talked about how we had met the Rabbis, how we discovered we would be his neighbors, and how we became such good friends so quickly. Tony seemed to be genuinely amazed at our turn of events. He told Rabbi Kravitz that he had heard so much about us that when he finally met us, he knew then we would be lifelong friends.
When Friday night came around, Tony attended Shabbat with us. The prayer service lasted about 40 minutes. When Rabbi Kravitz ended the service, he announced we were going to Tony's for a pizza dinner if anyone would like to join us. The people from the temple packed the place and every night since Tony's place has been packed. Tony beamed at how the restaurant became so well known and how the business so quickly became established that when he got home about three nights later, he looked at Jaiden and I and said, "make that 11 first-ever events you two have been involved in." That comment resulted in another Tony styled huddle-hug. He said that when he headed home at the end of the month, he was going to call President Jefferson at the college and tell him how we were involved in getting his business so famous so fast that the place is packed all day and all night.
Jaiden told Tony it wasn't us but the fact that his food was so good. Tony said that while that may be true, it was Tony attending Shabbat with us, our introducing him to the Rabbis, the Rabbis announcing where they were having dinner at Tony's that Friday night and the entire congregation joining us and getting the gossip line started about how good Tony's food was, it was that and not us who started what Tony called a business miracle. Jaiden then said, "Tony, that blessing came from Hashem, not from us." Tony replied that while that may be true, Hashem worked through us to get it all started. Jaiden couldn't argue with that fact.
Tony said he had to be at the restaurant early in the morning since his new manager would be coming in so he was going to go to bed. It was a bit late, so Jaiden and I also decided to turn in. Jaiden shot me a glance that said going to bed was going to be exciting! And, indeed, it was!
When Jaiden and I got to our room, he quickly undressed me, got undressed, and pushed me on the bed on my back. He gave me a full massage from head to toe, front to back. He then reached into the dresser drawer and got out the supplies. He applied his protection device and lubed up everything that needed to be maintenanced and then planted seeds in the garden to grow with intensity. I must say Jaiden was awesome tonight in a new way and when the job was done, I felt like a new person. Jaiden, he had a smile from ear to ear. Well, so did I.
Jaiden cleaned us both and then climbed into bed pulled me back into him and lovingly spooned me all night. When we woke up the next morning, Jaiden was still holding me the same way he did when we went to sleep. I have never before had someone make me feel loved as Jaiden does. Jaiden truly does hold the key to my heart. Jaiden just looking at me makes me melt. Everyone should feel so loved. Everyone!
